Reviews of Nomadic | SUP, Wind Wing & Kitesurfing Lessons
K. K.
Had a great time with Paul and his team (Charlie & Lucas) recently. Nomadic are clearly very passionate about what they do, and that comes across in their instruction; we all had a ton of fun!
Often the difference between good and great is what happens when things don’t go to plan, and Paul really pulled it out of the bag. We had a group of 5 booked for an introductory wind wing course; the only issue was there was literally no wind, none, nada! Paul text me early on the day to give me a heads up and reassure us he would arrange some kind of activity for us. On arrival, still no wind. We popped down to the activity centre for a coffee while Paul made alternative plans. So we could still try the hydrofoil board, the Nomadic team made arrangements and got a boat in the water so we could hydrofoil wake board instead of using the wind wings. This was also topped & tailed with some good old fashioned messing around on SUP boards!
Kudos to the team at Nomadic, it could have been a bit of a let down, but they pulled it out of the bag and we all had a great time, thanks!!

We had a fabulous SUP session with Paul at the end of Aug. We were lucky enough to get a one:one session with him, ending with a lovely sunset. He was friendly, flexible with our needs (we travelled from quite a distance) and just the kind of instructor we were looking for: Calm, clear and skilled, giving essential safety tips. We thoroughly enjoyed our mini adventure and would look to go again, to further improve our SUP skills. The local amenities were also very useful for our long journey each way (loos at the local hanger even open late after our session, plenty of parking etc.). Thanks Paul!

Attended the 3 day kitesurfing course at Calshot , 1 week trip to Tarifa (Spain) and am having ad-hoc lessons. Paul is very passionate about the sport and has a great team of experienced instructors, where safety always comes first. Offering group or 1:1 tuition with all equipment included, radio helmets great help while in the water.
Paul offers several weekend trips a year within the UK and also abroad to places like Spain (Tarifa) and Kenya, this is a great way to meet new like-minded people and progress quickly on the board.
Thumbs up, 5 stars.

Great first lesson with Paul. Made to feel totally at ease and confident.
Weather was a tad windy, so fell off a good few times, though managed a couple of short spells stood up. Absolutely loved it, couldn’t wait to get out again.
Got my gear, got my board and got stood up. 2+ hours on the Hamble, did not fall in!!😀
Even managed a passenger
Real confidence builder!

This is a really great place to learn, a safe lagoon. Paul and his instructors are very safety conscious and give fantastic instruction. They have excellent equipment. My daughter and I had an intro lesson to wing surfing. His land based and then water instruction was very clear, he gave great encouragement to my 12 year old daughter ensuring she made great progress and we both really enjoyed the lesson. Nomadic have the advantage of a boat and at the end of the lesson we were towed upwind to give us the opportunity of a longer surf back.
Highly recommend Paul and his school.

I've had 4 fantastic lessons with Paul and his team. From almost complete beginner level, I'm now at BKSA level 2 and starting some independent sessions. The lessons have been expertly taught, and make the most of top quality equipment and excellent surf spots near Southampton to cater for most wind directions and speeds. Thanks Paul and Charlie for introducing me to the sport, I'll be back for more lessons in the future :)

What a brilliant SUP lesson we had today. So much fun! Paul started us off in the lagoon which was calm and enabled us to practise all the skills we needed in order to stand up, turn and most importantly be safe! Then we took a trip around the Spit to the beach, which was a little more challenging. A great lesson that has built our confidence. Can't recommend Nomadic enough. Thanks Paul.

We had our first wing surf lesson with Paul and Jaimie. They were excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable. As my friend and I were already experienced windsurfers, Jamie and Paul tailored our first lesson to suit our needs, keeping us happy and engaged through out and hungry for more! Highly recommended, I'm now hooked and off to buy some kit!
A. V.
Excellent, friendly tuition. Paul was a patient and knowledgable instructor. He also took time to help us set up our new paddle board and to go through advice about safety on the water. Highly recommend!

After a holiday in Cuba where I was forced to watch kitesurfers charging around the bay and having a great time, I booked lessons at Calshot for myself and two late-teen offspring. We rocked up one blustery day in June and met Paul, who immediately sorted us out with all the gear we'd need. After flying trainer kites on the beach for a while (which is top fun in itself) and very good safety/theory briefs we moved to the water with one one Paul's very new kites.
Oh my days, what a rush... The moment I was yanked out of the water by the kite I knew I was going to be addicted. Paul's teaching style is superb - he's clearly passionate about the sport and loves getting people going. Best instructor I've encountered in any sport - ever. His emphasis on safety is also reassuring - have fun but be safe. Paul also gave me great advice when it came to buying kit. The venue is great - the staff in the shop are extremely helpful.
Kiting has become a passion and I blame Paul completely...
If you're wondering whether to learn and/or who to learn with just book with Nomadic.
E. M.
Just back from a 3 hour wind wing lesson - wow! Absolutely brilliant. Great kit, perfect location and excellent teaching. Thanks Paul!

BRILLIANT!
Had my first ever lesson last week and cannot wait to return. A great setting with really helpful and informative staff.
My lesson was with Keith who was very informative providing a good balance between providing all safety information and practical work with trainer kite and my first kite surf kite. The lesson was a great introduction to the sport and ended with me doing my first body drags which were great fun! Literally cannot wait for lesson 2.
Paul and shop team provided loads of info on the sport before and after the lesson. Their enthusiasm for the sport is plain to see. I purchased my first kite from them after the lesson and cannot wait to get out and try it.
Look forward to seeing you again soon guys - top class!

Incredibly professional well run outfit. Paul was super accommodating in arranging lessons around my work schedule. He has all the the latest equipment and Rich, one of his instructors was excellent. Patient, informative and very knowledgeable about all aspects on kite surfing. .
If you are looking for a new challenge this summer and want to try kite surfing, I can highly recommend Nomadic Kite surf, great service, wealth of expertise and very competitive pricing options.
D. R.
I didn’t have the confidence to go kitesurfing on my own, therefore contacted Nomadic Kitesurf and spoke to Paul to book in for some lessons. Paul’s tuition is fantastic; he makes sure that it is a safe environment to learn in, which gives you the confidence to focus on what you are doing. With his patient and relaxed style of coaching, I have rapidly progressed to riding in both directions after only a couple of lessons. Based on my experience I would certainly recommend Nomadic Kitesurf to anyone at any level and I will be returning for more lessons over the summer.
C. L.
Have so enjoyed improving my kitesurfing with Paul and his team at Calshot. They are wonderful instructors, always ensuring that I know how to stay safe and kite on my own as well. The spot is lovely, and a great place to learn and improve, I couldn't recommend it enough!
M. C.
Fantastic SUP course this morning with Paul and Maria. Both ensured that everyone in the group was having a great time and progressing at their own level. The course is really comprehensive, from basic to advanced paddles skills as well as safety checks and practice, all achieved in a beautiful location. Do book and give it a go. You will be hooked!
G. T.
We did the 2 hour Ready to Ride SUP lesson on Saturday. Windy conditions but at no time did we ever feel unsafe. Brilliant instructors, thank you Paul and Ali. We learnt loads and had the best fun ever. Would 100% recommend to anyone. Thank you so much.

An excellent group of instructors, passionate and enthusiastic about the sport. Calshot beach is a great place to learn, friendly and helpful people in 24-7 Boardsports. Paul's holidays and mini trips are a lot of fun and a superb way to progress quickly. I've had lessons with other people before but Paul is the first to use helmets with radios, what a breakthrough!
I've been on 3 holidays and about to go on my fourth with these peeps. I can't wait!

My family and i booked a 2 hr lesson - 2 adults and 3 children ages 17, 15 and 12. We already had the surf boots (purchased on Amazon at £25 ea), plus our 17yo has a wetsuit but the rest of us hired wetsuits included In the lesson price. Buoyancy aids were also included.
Our instructor Paul, was fantastic; not only was he reassuring for the nervous (like me who was adamant that I would never be able to stand up on one of these floating articles) but he was clear and concise with all his instructions and checked on everyone to ensure that we all understood what we needed to do.
As it was a little windy and a couple of us were drifting away from the group, he was always on hand to help us back. Let me be clear though, the area for paddleboarding is in a safe area, with a pathway all the way round the area of water and well away from the dangerous shipping lanes of the Solent.
We all had a thoroughly great time, even our 12 yo, who doesn't always have the confidence to join in. We are talking about taking up paddleboarding as a hobby now and are looking to book another session with Paul very soon!
If you are new to the sport or just want to have a go, we can't recommend Paul highly enough. By the way, he also teaches other water sports like kite surfing (too extreme for me!)
L. U.
Awesome wing lesson with Paul and Jamie. They effortlessly adapted the lesson to changing wind and a mix of sailing experience. Family group from 11 years.
P. G.
Right, I was looking for a kite sport a bit less complicated than kite surfing which is, in my opinion, a 2 person sport (taking off and landing) and carries more risk (to yourself and others). Wing surfing, I feel, is a little more refined, so decided to give it a go. My plus points, inflatable kite and board - easy to transport. Wow factor - you can also foil with a wing and that looks amazing. Easy to set up, easy to pack away, easy to transport. Persevering, I am told its the key. Let's hope so. :o)

Was taught by Paul and Johnny and had a great time! I did a short land day and five water days in a row (if you are able, I recommend doing the days consecutively so everything stays fresh in your memory). The first water day was safety stuff, self rescue, flying and relaunch the kite when it crashed, and body dragging up and down wind. The second day they had me up on the board for short bursts. By day five I was cutting through the waves upwind, making turns (sometimes), and did the occasional jump (though landing them was an entirely different matter:-)! Paul and Johnny are both great instructors. What I appreciated most was their willingness to listen and adjust their teaching style to the student. Some students like a bit more hands-on instruction and to take it slow; for them the instructors stayed by their side offering lots of advice. I preferred being a bit more independent and getting as much riding time as possible in each session. When I had progressed far enough and they were confident I wouldn't take anyone out with my kite they let me loose on my own with a radio helmet so they could give me tips along the way. I am sure I would not have progressed at the rate I did without their willingness to be flexible like that. I am also grateful for the time they spent going over safety and self-rescue. On day five I needed to body drag upwind in deep water to recover my board after a big crash and was happy they covered this exact scenario on day one! Overall, great time.

My girlfriend and I have been taking lessons with Paul at Calshot. There's a lot to kite surfing and it's a difficult sport to pick up - so lessons are an absolute must. Paul took us through all we needed to know to get up and running as well as giving advice on what gear to buy etc. I can confidently say that Paul is the best coach/instructor I have had (for any sport) and would highly recommend him. Everything is explained at the right pace in a clear and easy to understand way. He is full of advice, knows the area very well and has instructed all around the world. We look forward to booking more lessons in the future.

I took lessons, with my son, at Calshot with Nomadic Kitesurf. Firstly the set-up and location at Calshot is excellent with 24-7 Boardsports shop being right on the beach, whose staff are amazingly helpful, always on hand for some advice, a launch or just a friendly chat. I bought my kit from them in the end and they spent alot of time on what was suitable for my level of experience at very competititve prices.
Paul is an excellent instructor, whose passion for the sport really shines through. He has a relaxed and patient teaching style which also makes you feel at ease and the lessons really enjoyable. Safety is a priority and is covered in detail which gives you more confidence when you get to the stage of going solo. The equipment used to teach is very upto date and therefore has the latest features and is very user friendly.
I found Paul to be very generous with his time, if the conditions were not right to cover something well enough he would get us back when they were and even kept his eye on us outside of lessons when we were venturing out on our own.
I have no hesitation in recommending Paul and Nomadic KItesurf, you will not find a more professional, friendly and safe school to learn with.

My 16 year old son has had 3 kitesurfing lessons with Paul, July 2019. Booking online was a little confusing, as you can choose your first date when booking the three day course but not the other two. I communicated with Paul via email and he was in touch straight away to book the other days as and when we decided on them. He did two lessons in the first week, and the third two weeks later. Paul is very encouraging, yet challenges the student by asking questions to check understanding, and takes the safety of you and other beach users very seriously. My son wore a radio, as did Paul, and I had a radio on the shore too so could hear the lesson going on. He enjoyed it so much that he is now going to do a ‘supervised hire’ to get some practice in whilst being under the watchful eye of someone from Nomadic. The ‘lagoon’ is a really safe place to learn in, and Calshot has great facilities so you can spend the day there or even camp overnight. Now my younger son wants to do the same course next year!

As someone who has always been afraid of the water, I was extremely diligent in my research into the best instructor to teach me this exciting & challenging sport and was not disappointed with my experience with Nomadic Kitesurf. There are a few schools on the south coast but from the moment I contacted Paul, I could tell that this one was different. Paul takes such pride and care and attention in the teaching of this sport - which is vital considering that it can still be a very dangerous sport in the wrong hands. In the right ones though, it's amazing fun and Paul is a very experienced instructor who you can't help feel safe with. He really cares about creating the best experience for each individual he teaches and has certainly found a niche for himself in the 1-1 market. In my opinion this is really the only way to learn this sport as it can be complicated to master. Whilst the price is reassuringly expensive there is still so much value for money - Paul is available before the lesson to talk to and discuss anything you're unsure about, reassuring you every step of the way. He provides full support on every aspect of kitesurfing - theory, kit, conditions, all the things necessary to be a proper kite surfer! I have had the fortune of learning with him in Cape Town where he was experienced and knowledgeable about the best spots to take me to that were specifically appropriate to me and this really is where Paul excels himself - in creating a bespoke personalised experience for each student. The location at Calshot is absolutely super - it's far quieter than the heavily visited yet not as perfect Poole & Hayling Island so the water is hardly ever crowded making it the perfect spot to learn. I would not hesitate in recommending Paul he is a fantastic and special teacher who will take you as far as you want to go with this incredible sport.
M. W.
Paul and his instructors run an excellent school. Their enthusiasm and knowledge are second to none and they go out of their way to ensure everyone has a great time whilst learning all the skills necessary to have a safe and rewarding time on the water.
There is a steep learning curve to begin with when starting to kitesurf and you definitley need professional instruction. Here's where you get it.
I also attended one of the trips with Nomadic Kitesurf and everything was brilliantly organised and great fun, despite some challenging conditions. I met a group of like minded people who are now friends and Paul ensured everyone had a good time and learned a lot. I highly recommend the experience. Thanks to Paul and his instructors Kathy & Keith, I just bought my own kite and board! Job done!
M. G.
We booked in for the Ready to Ride SUP session ran by Paul and Ally.
It was a fantastic session, with only 6 participants Paul and Ally were about to provide bespoke feedback and we’re encouraging and supportive.
I’d recommend them, and the course without hesitation.
R. O.
I would recommend the five day kitesurfing course to any beginner. Paul is an excellent instructor and had me up on the board after three days. The extra two days were really useful to build my confidence and ability to a level where I’m happy to practice independently.
J. S.
Came across Nomadic Kitesurf on Groupon and signed ourselves up for a 2hr introductory paddle board session. Paul and Maria took us out, and it was a fantastic session... a good mix of safety elements, basic skills as well as having fun! A really relaxed atmosphere with friendly instructors - always felt in safe hands! A great thing to do with a group of friends. We will definitely be signing ourselves up for more sessions - thank-you Nomadic!
P. J.
I had a great introduction to kitesurfing here and felt the level of instruction was excellent. I think having a truely "professional" instructor, rather than someone who just loves the sport makes a huge difference. Everything we did was relevant to me, and helped push me forwards.
What made a big difference was all the help I recieved choosing my first kite and board and getting it set up safely. Paul has been very generous with his advice outside of my lessons and has given me a lot of encouragement when I have been going out alone.
There is a great community spirit at the Kitesurfing & Windsurf club, always help on hand, and I really can fault the overal experience.
100% recomended!

I learned at few Kitesurfing schools. Nomadic is well recommended.
It is the best school to start or progress your Kitesurfing journey.
Alex and Paul where very relaxed and experience instructors that can get anyone from zero to hero
Excellent guiding , Excellent gear and lovely spot.

I've been learning to kitesurf with Paul and Keith this summer and have had a blast and am always looking forward to my next time down at Calshot. Both of them are obviously very knowledgeable and experienced instructors and are both professional and patient.
The radios in the helmets they provide also make it a lot easier to correct mistakes and get feedback instantly - I can't really imagine trying to learn without them. I would thoroughly recommend Nomadic to anyone looking to learn to kitesurf - my only wish is that I'd got started with them years ago!
P. W.
With Pauls great tuition I was able to progress quickly. The last lesson was fantastic. Paul quickly picked up on things I was doing wrong and by the end of the lesson I had gone from not been able to water start properly, to edging up wind and actually gaining ground! Unlike some, Paul is very much about the sport and gets genuine enjoyment at seeing people he has taught out on the water enjoying themselves.
C. K.
Experience instructors, friendly atmosphere. Great kit ( including radio com helmets, which provide instant feedback- what you need) in fact it was the radio com helmets that tipped the balance and lead me to booing with this great team. If you want to learn the sport then you wouldn't find a better, and more honest set up. I've just done the three day course, plus one extra kitesurfing lesson. And plan to have a few more. With the steep learning curve, that is kitesurfing you can't go wrong giving these people a tryout.
G. G.
What a fantastic experience. I was bought the taster paddle boarding session for my birthday. I was a little apprehensive about being cold and despite having my own wetsuit (which wasn't 'winter' grade) staff loaned me a thicker one and even a waterproof jacket to go over the top.
Staff were all very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Safe environment and made everybody feel welcome. Cannot recommend these guys enough.
L. B.
I had several lessons with Paul and the team at Nomadic, great set up with top gear and the use of the radio headsets is great as you have constant instruction at all times.
Great emphasis on safety whilst still ensuring you progress.
the passion for the sport from Nomadic is clear as I have been down several times on my own and Nomadic have been there and kindly given me some helpful pointers to keep me progressing, even going as far as to help me with my kite set up and showing my family how to help me launch.
Top quality lessons from a great team, all is left is to get myself on one of the kiting holidays they do :-)
Thanks Nomadic and Paul keep up the great work.

Paul has alway's been of assistance, and a great help to my Dad & I, since our first lesson in 2012...
He is a wealth of knowledge & experience when it comes to teaching the sport, I found him exceptionally patient when explaining all aspects of learning to kite surf. I was continuously impressed with his attitude towards his students safety, and his enthusiasm to ensure we were always having a good time!
He bases himself conveniently next to the kitesurfing shop which is particularly helpful, once he has you completely addicted to kitesurfing, he can then advise on the right kit to buy to encourage more time on the water !
I cannot recommend Nomadic Kitesurf highly enough - alway's on hand at the beach should you need to recap on anything you may have forgotten!
Thanks Paul Sweeney!
J. L.
The Nomadic instructors are a really professional and experienced bunch who always put safety first while helping you progress your skills as quickly as possible.
Paul is the most genuine guy you could ever wish to meet and always makes sure to give good value for money whatever lesson, class or holiday you take with Nomadic.
The best and only school to choose on the South Coast!
R. H.
Paul is a great kite surf teacher. Would definitely recommend Nomadic Kitesurf, whether you've never done it before and need a friendly, professional and enthusiastic introduction, or you need a couple of lessons to get yourself back on the water, or need some help with your technique. Couldn't recommend either Paul or kite surfing more highly.
T. C.
Living near Calshot beach I have seen people out on the water most of my life and the first time I saw someone kitesurfing I thought that's the sport for me, after contacting Paul at Nomadic Kitesurfing School and booking my lessons I was so excited. My first lesson is here and im buzzing I head to the beach nice and early and have a look and chat with the people in 24-7 Boardsports. Paul is already there assessing the conditions and tide heights. The first thing he teaches is Safety which puts your mind at ease straight away.
You look at conditions on and off the water for any possible issues that may come about during your sessions/ Lessons.
Then its lets get flying a kite. out comes the trainer kites, this is a great part of the experience you learn how to control the kite with a bar rather than handles which takes some getting used to, whilst you are doing this the tide is dropping.
Tides perfect so we set up a kite we learn how to pump them up and tether them whilst on the beach and run out the lines, Its into the wetsuit and lets get wet!!! Wow is all I can say from here, the power is amazing time spent getting used to how the kite flies and handles and body dragging around the Solent what an experience.
Lesson two.
Set up the kite on your own then Paul and his team check you've done it right, into the wet suit lets get wet again!!
You practice what you learnt in lesson one with a few differences practice upwind body dragging then the fun really begins out comes the board! Amazing times trying to master getting the board on and getting going with some epic wipe outs!!
Hope this has wet your appetite for trying a truly amazing sport with a great atmosphere, everyone at Calshot are friendly willing to lend a hand and the staff in the shop are great.
Nomadic Kitesurf School is the best school I have come across. Paul keeps you up to date with how the conditions are looking if there is no wind he will phone and cancel to save you wasting your time and fuel to get there and book you in as soon as you are available. The equipment is up to date and very easy to use! The way the lessons are run is to your ability, so there is no rush to move on if you want to practice some more you can do.
I cannot fault this school Paul also gives tips and helps out even after your lessons which is great.
If you are thinking about it I would seriously give Paul a ring and get booked on!
Hope to see you at the beach soon
W. H.
Just had a lesson with Nomadic at Calshot. Fantastic experience, Paul the instructor was very patient and knowledgeable. Paul uses headsets so there is always a voice in your ear telling you what to do. If you want to learn to kitesurf then I would highly recommend Nomadic
n. c.
I Learned the basics with Nomadic at Calshot and then went on the Tarifa trip in 2016 where I progressed to being able to get up on the board and go quite a distance in deep water with bigger wave conditions than down at Calshot. I was very satisfied with the training at Calshot and Tarifa with Paul, Keith and Cathy. You could tell that they are all passionate about kitesurfing and want to see you succeed in the sport. The Week in Tarifa was amazing as well, great bunch of people, after spending all day kitesurfing we met every evening for a few beers and some food.. Except one night when the whisky came out... Accommodation in Tarifa was clean and in an amazing location overlooking the sea so you could see the conditions even before you leave for the beach.. I really hope to do this again in 2017!

Have had Sup and a kitesurf lesson with Paul. He was patient and thorough and full of information and knowledge and made sure I was confident at the beginners level with both sports by the end of the lessons . He's been really supportive following both sessions.
D. P.
Paul and his team are all structured in their teaching and dedicated to safety. I'd happily recommend them to anyone wanting to learn kitesurfing or SUP
K. K.
I had a lesson in some pretty challenging October conditions with Paul last year. I'd kited before but this was the first time in the UK, the first time on waves, and the first time in 28knots and rain. Paul was super patient and encouraging (even when the wind dropped and the kite fell and got caught up in loads of seaweed!) and even managed to get some footage on his Ipad. I felt totally safe and picked up some great tips - so thank you!

(Using my Wife's Google account for this review. I'm Chris Pitt). Although it would have been easier for me to use one of the Kitesurfing schools on Poole Harbour, I chose Nomadic Kitesurf school as it sounded like a better / safer and quieter environment to learn in and I liked the idea of the radio helmets. Right from the beginning, I was glad I did. Paul made me feel welcome as did many of the local Kitesurfers and the staff in 24/7 Watersports.
I must admit, I was quite nervous about the lessons having had a bit of a kitemare several years ago when doing a similar course somewhere else. Being an experienced windsurfer, I was still eager to give kitesurfing a try and with the improvements in equipment, I felt it was time to give it another go.
Paul explained everything really well and made safety a priority and although the conditions were quite strong and gusty during 2 out of the 3 days I did, I never felt in any danger. I never felt Paul was pushing me to do anything I was uncomfortable with and the pace of instruction / learning was perfectly matched to me. The gear was all bang up to date too so as user friendly as possible.
The 3rd day was particularly windy and I thought would be too much for me with gusts up to around 30 knots but this was the day it all began to click for me and once I had the board on my feet, it felt a lot more natural, although I only got up and going for a few seconds. This has made me realise it is something I want to do more of and I'll definitely be going back for another day of instruction before investing in my own gear.
I can't imagine how Paul's instruction could have been any better, everything was clear and gave me the confidence and skills I lacked to begin with. Brilliant!

Having had some excellent training with Nomadic Kitesurf at Calshot I jumped at the chance to go on their 1st overseas kitesurf holiday to Tarifa, Spain.
I was met at the airport by one of the instructors and along with other members of the course we we're driven to our accommodation. The accommodation was at a fantastic campsite close to the kitesurfing beaches of Tarifa. We we're allocated cabins with a fantastic view across the Mediterranean sea to Morocco. They we're clean and provided all the facilities needed for the stay including a campsite shop and bar/restaurant.
Each morning we would meet to discuss the conditions and therefore the plan for the day.
The journey to the beach was minutes before transfering all the equipment to create a camp on the beach.
There was plenty of equipment for all levels and conditions. There was an instructor to every two or three students dependending on level. At all times there was a clear emphasis on safety. The conditions at Tarifa we're more challenging than the flat shallow water at Calshot. The first skill to master is getting out past the beach break into deeper water. This is invaluable if you want to have the confidence to kite at more demanding locations than Calshot.
The team constantly review your progress and provide valuable feedback to aid your progression.
The end of a days kiting normally involved a car park change and then a chat with a nice cold beer before heading back to the campsite. Most evenings it was a quick shower and change then out to dinner. There are some fantastic restaurants that we went to making it a fantastic social experience. There was always so much to discuss and share about the experiences of the day.
All in all a fantastic active holiday.
Would I do it again? Yes I already have and I plan to go again.
My thanks go to Paul for the thought and effort he has put into these trips and his excellent instructors who share their experience and passion for the sport.

Hi, I have done a bit of surfing, but living in Southampton I don't get out on the water as much as I would like... due to lack of surf. I always saw the guys kitesurfing and getting some awesome air and pulling off amazing tricks. I immediately wanted to have a go, but, if I'm honest, was a little scared as well.
When I plucked up the courage I booked a lesson (not from NOMADIC). This lesson was ok and I learned the basics. However I then left it a while before booking other lessons with NOMADIC.
Paul explained everything to me, and it was obvious from the start that this was a professional and well constructed lesson. At no point did I feel unsafe and Paul put me at ease straight away. All his instructions were clear and understandable.
The moment I felt the power of the kite pulling me out of the water....I knew I was hooked.
After my lessons Paul helped me to buy my first kit (after I convinced the wife) - at a very reasonable price I might add. It is obvious that Paul loves this sport and just wants people out on the water.
On my first day of flying my kite and getting started, Paul came down and went through every thing (in his free time) and even came out on the water with me.
I am now out on my own and desperate to keep getting out on the water.
The whole set up is fantastic, from the shop next to the beach, friendly staff to get advice / tips from, and to help launch and land the kite. There are even showers and changing rooms. What more do you want!
This is definitely a sport that every one should try.
Thanks Paul

Nomadic is a really great place to learn to kitesurf. The instructors are all very helpful and make sure you feel completely safe whilst learning.
They also organise amazing trips abroad where you can spend the whole time with like-minded people and see great progression in your kitesurfing.
I would definitely recommend Nomadic to anyone thinking of taking up kitesurfing.

Paul had our 14 year old up and riding in no time. Calm and patient, easy to follow instructions with the headsets. A great school in a great location. We’ll use him again for sure.

I started kitesurfing last summer, and came along to Calshot at the start of May for a couple of hours' 1-on-1 tuition, trying to take the next step.
Tim, the instructor, was spot-on; great at identifying little mistakes I was making in timing, balance, etc., and helped me improve hugely through the session.
Great spot, friendly staff and other kiters, I'll definitely be back down Calshot this summer!

I explained to Paul a couple of weeks ago that I think I am having a mid-life crisis and want to try something new! 'Oh! You will love stand up paddle boarding then', he said, and guess what? I do!
Being a bag of nerves for the last two weeks, between booking the lesson, and the lesson arriving ( this morning) , I was sent all the information I needed (and more) and Paul kept in touch throughout about the weather, tides etc.
I admit, I felt a little apprehensive on arrival at the shop, but (a very chilled out) Maria put me at ease and after two hours of excellent tuition, I am now SUP ''Ready to Ride'.
Considering I'm not really that fit, not super confident in, or on, the water; the sea is cold and wet, it is April, it is the UK and I have never had a wetsuit on before, I can't believe I enjoyed it so much and I can't wait to do it again!
Thanks Maria, thanks Paul, for introducing me to my something new, and life is not such a crisis after all!
PS: Thanks for sending me the photos, if there were 10 stars, I would give you both 5 each! Linda x

Paul was a brilliant teacher and a really great guy. He was excellent at helping me to cover gaps in my knowledge that hadn’t been covered in the few lessons that I had taken in other places. I will definitely be returning...

I was taught sup by Maria with another woman. Maria explained how to do each action at a pace that we worked at. She adjusted between our speeds of learning and moved between us to give one to one tips. She was very friendly and informative. I would feel comfortable trying sup alone since the lesson.

Well... 1 Hen do with 8 excited and nervous ladies ranging from mid 20s to mid 50s. 5 British, 3 Russian. We had a great time even though 2 ladies didn't speak a word of English. Paul and Ben are professional and calming who share their love of Water sports with everyone. A great time was had by all on their 8 manned Paddleboard. Paul sent regular emails, texts and phonecalls and helped me organise the event. I can't thank them enough. I thoroughly recommend them. :-)
