A lovely old hotel, which used to be the Birmingham Eye Hospital. The welcome to the hotel was lovely and the staff on reception were very friendly.
Our room on the first floor could be accessed via the grand stair case in the lobby or a (very) cosy lift.
We were staying in one of the junior suites, which was impressive in it's size, but lacked a little bit of the style and decor that you'd expect from a suite. The bed was huge, but also very very comfy.
The bathroom had a large walk in shower, plus a roll top bath. It felt luxurious, but unfortunately a little bit dated with some of the marks on the walls and cracked tiles. Just a little spruce up would do it the world of good.
The location was good, just 5 minutes walk to the cathedral and then through to New Street. I would probably stay here again.

Jordan and his team made sure everything was perfect - the room was spotless and the service flawless. Incredible value for money as the rooms are beautifully decorated and the location is ideal for exploring the city. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable!

This hotel looked far better than it looked outside. It's exceptional, not like your regular hotels. You want to stay longer. The decorations, superb. it's exactly as the pictures you see online

We stayed at the Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham on March 12th and had a fantastic stay. The building is a stunning Victorian ex-hospital, and in true Hotel du Vin tradition it is beautifully appointed with ornate balustrades and classical decoration. The subdued lighting gives a lovely atmosphere. Fleur was great and helped us to get the most of our stay. Check in and check out were easy and she gave us ideas for interesting visits. The room was spacious, the bathroom well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We had lunch in the bar and there was a delicious selection of snacks and light meals. The breakfast menu was varied. After cereals or pastries, one of our party had a whole kipper and another had boiled egg and soldiers! All in all, a fabulous stay and I look forward to our next visit

Lovely old hotel in an unbeatable location. Perfect for shopping, dining out and exploring the bars and pubs plus easy walk to the station. We had a couple of issues with our room that were dealt with well.

Gifted a 1 night stay with dinner and Breakfast, this was the first time we have visited this hotel. Very traditional decor and a good sized room with everything you would need. Would liked to have seen a little more history on the building in the form of pictures but it is a really nice place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham's nightlife.
Drinks in the bar are a little on the expensive side so after paying £28+ a service charge for 2 double gins, we decided that we would continue our evening in the local bars where we paid less than £15 for the same.
The meal was very good though and breakfast was adequate.

Hotel - located on in great location walking distance from most areas of the city.
Beautiful old building with a sense of grandeur. The spa and pub was closed during our visit. Unfortunately, this wasn't noted on our booking.
Check in - fairly straight forward but I did it before we got to the hotel and then had to do it again on arrival. We were offered an upgrade (subject to availability for a reduced price) we accepted but then felt let down on the day when none were available.
I asked for chocolates on the pillow as a small birthday present for my girlfriend. The note said this was from the hotel.
Room - the room was huge with nothing in it and dated. Some may have called this character once but it is just tired now. Toilets that don't flush properly, stains, nowhere to unpack, mirrors at odd heights. Just lots of little things that added up to not make it special. Not worth the money.
Staff - the staff were excellent at reception, restaurant and in the bar. All were extremely friendly and helpful.
We did complain about the points noted above and was offered a discount.
I wouldn't stay there again though, not unless they upped their standards.

Fantastic rooms and amazing little cocktail bar but most impressive of all was the shower. Just like being jet washed. I've never been cleaner !!!
M. P.
We ate in the bar. Harry was an absolute star and looked after us perfectly. Food was great. Nothing to dislike!!
M. E. (. O. B.
It's a nice hotel and the bistro food was lovely, had a dodgy situation when paying though with staff having given themselves a tip and donating on our behalf too, the reception cleared this up pretty quickly though so no harm done.
J. D.
Consistently enjoyable stay at this hotel. Staff are so helpful, spotless room, fabulous breakfast. Great location.

We wanted to say a belated but massive thank you to Hotel du Vin Birmingham for ensuring our wedding was the best possible day on 25th August.
Colleen incredibly arranged the whole day with less than a month’s notice due to our last minute change of venue due to covid restrictions. She was always so prompt at replying and reassured us that everything would run smoothly.
On the day Jordan and his team were absolutely brilliant. We felt there was the perfect balance of making everything feel so special but also relaxed and friendly. The organisation, decor, food and service was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more.
C. H.
Nice room and excellent food however extremely noisy outside in early morning (5am) did not sleep well due to noise.
L. B.
Wonderful stay, Bubble Bar definitely worth a visit, great surroundings, beautiful decor, first class service and lovely atmosphere, a great place to get together with friends
s. d.
held a reunion dinner for 100 people .Excellent service and support from Events Team to organise throughout . On the evening itself, the dining rooms manager Jordan was most helpful and his team were consistently smiling and efficient . Would recommend highly and plan to return .
D. L.
Posh. Great rooms. Great showers. If you want to eat breakfast there...get a bank loan. X
P. G.
The room was absolutely sensational. My only critique would be noise and the light from outside. The blinds are lovely but something more blackout would be perfect
J. M.
Love the rooms here, decor and ambience in the bar and restaurant too. Above all, all the staff members we encountered were warm, friendly and helpful. Will visit again.
J. J.
Nice place, cosy rooms, lovely breakfast. The night we stayed was very noisy from the road- cars reving the engine and beeping horns for most of night so didn't sleep very well.
M. G.
Amazing hotel and the service is next to nothing felt like nothing was to much to ask the room was outstanding and would defiantly stay again best hotel in Birmingham.
A. F.
Another enjoyable experience at Hotel du Vin Birmingham, relaxed evening with good people, good food and delightful cocktails. Staff are always on point, providing that extra touch needed in making guests feel welcome and at home. We will keep returning!
A. D.
Not a great experience despite the very helpful staffs best efforts. Deluxe rooms are on the street so beware the binmen on a Saturday morning from 5.30am Plumbing needs attention and the whole place needs a bit of maintenance. Good breakfast.
P. D.
Had a fantastic stay, room were great and service was good in the restaurant
i. s.
Amazing as always, stay here every week. The team are fantastic and really cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. The guys on reception are warm, welcoming and really friendly. Rooms are ace and best showers around. If you haven't stayed here you should. Cannot recommend enough.
E. C.
Really enjoyable afternoon spent at Hotel du Vin. Staff attentive and courteous, looked after the Hen and guests very well. Delicious afternoon tea with prosecco. Thank you.
G. D.
It's a lovely room. But.... It's expensive for somewhere where they don't make up your room for the second night. They don't tell you about it before booking.
They forgot to tell us whilst checking in too. Probably lost her rhythm when a colleague asked her a question about bikes. There's nothing in the room explaining this either.
If it's covid related they should just give you double everything coffee/water/mugs.
If you don't want to make your own bed just book two single nights.
S. T.
Very nice hotel with great rooms and a good restaurant. Very helpful staff.
Outside can be a little noisy in early morning especially when they connect the bins or clean the windows.
T. V.
Just popped in for a cup of tea and a lemonade whilst visiting the Christmas market. The staff were great and the lounge was an excellent place to relax.
K. S.
Stayed 11th June in Deluxe Room.
It's a really nice place, beautiful building and decor, the staff are really helpful and welcoming.
We had a slight "incident", but it was clearly an accident and the manager apologised profusely and offered us drinks as an apology.
Room was nicely equipped, huge comfy bed, the Nespresso machine is a nice touch!
Bathroom is beautiful with great powerful hot showers and a gorgeous big bath.
Negatives:
Aircon wasn't very powerful and it was a really hot summer evening.
The bathroom was massive and felt a bit empty at the expense of the bedroom which felt small in comparison.
Can't adjust lighting in bathroom, it's either all ON or OFF, so we can't make it romantic.
W. S.
Fantastic hotel with great rooms and great staff.. lovely bar area..
J. L.
Lunchtime with my girlfriends always good, came to the bar at HdV for a quick drink post lunch but stayed two hours. Great service, fabulous wines, comfortable and wonderful ambience which is the reason we return again and again.
L. H.
Amazing hotel and well placed to see and get to most things walking. Super friendly staff who were very welcoming. Rooms were clean and tidy.
G. W.
Lovely hotel, food and room couldn't be faulted
M. P.
Amazing place . The staff made us very welcome room was very clean and breakfast was great
C. C.
I love coming to this hotel and have done many times. I will now reconsider because the Nespresso machine and fresh milk have been removed due to COVID i was told by reception. But if you have a deluxe room you can have a Nespresso machine so COVID not a problem in those rooms? I like this hotel so much because of the Nespresso machine and milk so I will go elsewhere in future.
D. H.
Absolutely beautiful hotel. Perfect location as right in the centre, short walk to the bull ring and loads of bars around. Also the best expreso martini
C. H.
Fantastic service in restaurant!
R. B.
Stayed here for our anniversary, Great hotel, great service and high quality rooms. Had food in the Bistro, food was delicious and service was great. Thank you I'm sure we will be back.
P. C.
Could do better!
Beautiful, but the suite had a mouldy shower and dirty stained sofa.
Drinks in the restaurant were expensive, and not all drinks were on the menu.
Will I visit
Again...yes but it would depend on the room rate.
I strongly advise you check their rate on the website and then booking.com.
P. R.
Stefan- what a host!
Fabulous dinner at Hotel du Vin.
Tuna Nicoise and Steak Hache were superb. Stefan from Georgia was a magnificent host, suggesting some tremendous wines to go with the food. We tried the English Bolney Estate white wine and their sparkling rose (both great!) and a really likeable Uruguayan dessert wine, plus a very decent Offley rose port.
Stefan was such good fun and the food was brilliant. We had a lovely evening. You don't come across the Stefans of this world often enough- very knowledgeable and a wonderful person to make you feel at home.

Really enjoyable stay, in the heart of Birmingham city centre
O. T.
We stayed one night for work during Covid. The lobby area is nice and the bed was very comfy. The shower was excellent! However, the rooms themselves are feeling quite tired now and could really do with modernising.
S. P.
Excellent as always. En suite bathroom and shower amazing.
M. H.
Great place, good food, excellent service.
J. C.
Fantastic rooms, lovely restaurant and great bar this place has it all!
A. G.
This place is grea, really good location. Sit inside where the decor, service and atmosphere is good. sit outside the front and not so good. A lot of homeless walking by, drunks, can be quite threatening
A. R.
Great location but the place seemed a bit lacking in atmosphere. Shower was superbly powerful but lacked hot water ..! Enjoyed the beautiful L’Occitane toiletries.
S. B.
Amazing place. Great customer service, very nice rooms and comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel.
B. C.
Aiming off for the fact that it was open in lockdown therefore helpful for my essential biz trip ....and was recommended as a good place....I booked a Suite and it turned out to be a Room, which was inadequately heated, the staff were less than in 'full on customer service' mode - and will have mountain to climb to get to that mindset before they are allowed to fully open again and have Competition....
R. M.
Fabolous deco good food nice staff too very friendly place
J. W.
What a fantastic hotel....could not do enough for us. Had afternoon tea in my son's suite. This was so good...one of the best I have ever eaten. Staff are so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
D. B.
Great location as its close to all the trendy bars and restaurants. Recommended highly as the rooms and breakfast were excellent. The staff do a great job and deserve plaudits for their effort in making it a great stay
S. H.
Fantastic stay. We were upgraded to a suite which was AMAZING!! Great customer service, lovely food. Would highly recommend this hotel.
C. H.
Had a great stay, love the beautiful rooms, fab staff and perfect location central to everything! Definitely recommend and can't wait to return!
I. M.
Food was good but first impressions are important and that was the first drink service too slow and bar man had memory of gold fish twenty five minutes to get four drinks not a good start
G. E.
Nice Hotel, interesting history.... good place to stay in the centre of the city. Our room nice but bathroom tired although clean and serviceable... 👍🏻
M. M.
Lovely hotel, great staff and service. The breakfast was lovely and had a nice selection to choose from.
S. C.
An oasis of class in a cultural desert.
Parking is a nightmare but, if you can get a space, well worth a visit.
I didn't visit the bistro but the courtyard is a nice place to sit, the bar is comfortable and they have excellent concierge services.
L. Q.
Wonderful stay at Hotel du vin! Great service from all staff we spoke to, lovely rooms and we really enjoyed the food and drink! Will definitely be back!
B. S.
Lovely and professional staff,
Especially the bar staff.
We had an amazing night out at this fabulous hotel
L. F.
Stayed last night booked by work but couldnt have chosen a better hotel myself. Had a great peaceful night sleep, breakfast was amazing so much choice, hope to return soon
s. a.
Lovely hotel, staff couldn't do enough, food was perfect
L. T.
Been here numerous times for various occasions; afternoon tea, spa treatments etc and it’s always so lovely. The staff are great and everything is really good quality
N. W.
Nice hotel good location. Pleasant staff good food. Gets busy in bar of a weekend tho
D. T.
Went on new years day for four course lunch. Food was great and very good value good range of choice on the menu. We were not rushed and staff were very attentive and friendly. Really nice atmosphere would definitely recommend.
r. e.
Lovely place. Great service. Superb food. We had 50% off so no holds barred on what we ordered! Best rib eye steak I've had.
I. R.
As always, superb service, quality food and a lovely atmosphere.
L. D.
Delicious food and great drink with a lovely room. Our waiter was excellent picking a superb wine for us and attending to our needs. The room was good with the only issue being the shower not warm enough
S. H.
Big rooms and great staff. Very cool decor. Didn't use the spa. Restaurant was very good and breakfast was nice. Would recommend.
C. M.
Beautiful place wonderful staff I have been for afternoon tea with my husband and it was delicious would certainly dgo back
D. T.
Lovely hotel. Great rooms and a fantastic bar. Really well positioned for town
K. R.
Excellent hotel, good service, nice room, great bath! Lots of hot water. Lounge a little expensive, and no hotel parking is a negative, but overall a great location. Lounge was refined, and hotel old but nicely so and very charming
R. S.
Very nice afternoon tea. Good selection of teas available and the service was excellent. Nice decor and atmosphere. The sandwiches were very nice and good choice of sweet treats. Definitely recommended if you would like a nice relaxing afternoon.
A. K.
Great location and hotel. The bar staff really made our night such a great team! I also had a lovely dinner in the restaurant and the room was fantastic - really quiet night especially considering we were in such a fun area. Will be back again over Chistmas. Thanky you.
K. M.
Amazing service here, they always go above and beyond. Beautiful rooms and great food and drink
V. T.
We had a nice stay here. Overall met my expectations for the price. The rooms were reasonably well appointed. Breakfast was pretty good. Whilst were there it did rain and we had a leak from the ceiling during the night so not kicking all basic requirements for a temporary roof over our head! That said I would go back if I was in the area.
I. C.
This spot never fails to impress. They have fresh dishes for convenient prices, there is no waiting time even when they are full.
S. M.
Quite pricey and not enough variety. One staff member was very pleasant however the other seemed to give a bit of an attitude. Decor and ambience was lovely.
M. B.
Excellent food from the set menu. Great service and lovely feel in the restaurant
j. c.
Absolutely fantastic place to eat. Beautiful food nice champagne and wine. The food was to die for, I had the steak which was cooked perfectly my wife had the chicken which looked beautiful. The staff couldn't do enough for you also very polite. I would definitely recommend this place to eat.
R. D.
Absolutely fantastic.... great night ..amazing bar staff ...great selection of drinks. Cant wait to go back. Thank you for an amazing night.
P. A. H.
The hotel is a grand dame but is showing signs of heavy wear and tear. The first floor rooms are apparently completely renovated but we were given a room on the top (3rd) floor.
The bed and bedding has already been replaced and it is not only huge but gorgeous; probably one of the best beds I've ever slept in. The bathroom, whilst in need of paint and re-grouting, has a very large glass and stainless shower stall...fab.
I was very disappointed with our room for the first day but in the subsequent two days I have grown very fond of it. I hope when it is finally renovated it doesn't lose its charm. High ceilings, windows which open, and because it is on the corner it is flooded with light. The Frexeinet suite will be amazing.
G. M.
Delicious food, in a quiet and intimate atmosphere. Definitely worth the money
B. S.
Best hotel Ive ever stayed in with work - and I feel like I've done my fair share of market testing...
K. B.
Had a lovely stay here. Nice room and great breakfast.
D. S.
Food was really good and service was excellent so well worth it, particularly for a special occasion like it was with us.
F. R.
Very nice experience at this hotel particularly at the bar where Harry made us some great cocktails, adapted to our requests!
A big thank to the team. Amazing trip
A. F.
Went to a wedding reception there also stay the night was a lovely experience
G. M.
Great atmosphere and service. Dishes are also well prepared and presented and made us feel like in France. Would go again to celebrate a special occasion as not cheap.
C. E.
I like the Hotels du vin, which pamper you. Staff are friendly and helpful.. We stayed on the first day of reopening, so everyone was getting used to new ways of operating. Nonetheless it was a happy experience and a real joy to sneak out of lockdown.
J.
Great rooms great breakfast and amazing staff would go back in a heartbeat
N. C.
Nice and quite most of the time, bar staff nice and friendly. Moderately priced food and drink.
T. G.
The room was lovely, everything I could have needed was there already. The bathroom facilities were spectacular. The staff were courteous and helpful. The food is FANTASTIC, I stayed for breakfast and lunch and could not fault it. The only downside for me was the noise from neighbouring buildings and streets which woke me up at about 5:15.
Other than this (which the hotel cannot help) it was a perfect stay. Thank you.
K. m.
Lovely lunch. Service great. Served by young lady called Alexandra who was helpful and courteous. Good food cooked well
b. m.
Great hotel and pretty good service, but beware that you will be asked to pay for your stay up-front and to pay a deposit for using the bar and restaurant even though there appears to be no reference to this in the booking conditions. Such a demand, and the assumption behind it, is not a welcome gesture. I asked the management for clarification and have so far received no satisfactory explanation.
C.
Always a pleasure. Pricey but you get what you paid for. Excellent service as you would expect in a hotel. The bar is open to the public and it is a lovely place for afternoon, pre-theatre or pre-dinner drinks with a warm, calm, atmosphere, table service and those comfy leather armchairs. Always worth a visit.
R. O.
The rooms are looking very tired, bed was one of the least comfortable I've slept in. Expect better for the price! Staff were good though.
M. P.
Great historic hotel. Very close to restaurants and shopping. The room was wonderful. Both the bar and restaurant were very good.
R. F.
Visited here on Sunday eve and it was nice n quiet, except for a few rowdy guests. We were served promptly and asked the bar tender (who I hasten to add was very hospitable) to recommend a drink, which he did,was served quickly and it was delightful.
K. L.
The food was amazing in the bistro and reasonably priced for the quality. The staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was great. 2 of our sides were not bought out with our main course. By the time they came we were eating green beans on their own. Other than that I cannot fault the place.
A. T.
Service was great, quiet at the bar so service was fast. Drinks were reasonably priced for the location and tasted great.
S. F.
Service was very good. Food was excellent - recommend the hotel du vin burger! Room could do with update as grout on time is dirty and overall a little tired.
J. G.
Great evening with Sir Ian Botham, wine tasting his lovely wines. Food was gorgeous, staff were lovely. Thanks all concerned
L. Z.
Nice hotel, clean and well presented with a cosy feel for a large city centre establishment.
Clean facilities and excellent food.
Large airy conference facilities and airy and well presented dining areas. Recommended
J. R.
The food was magnificent but let down a little by the decor which is a rather curious aged mustard yellow both in the hall and the bar, a bit too gloomy for my taste but doubtless top of the range and reminiscent of very old Roman baths or some such?
A. J.
An amazing property! I cannot speak more highly of the room, food and location (had a couple of service issues, but I saw them as anomalies).
S. M.
Lovely old Victorian building still with some original features
Great location,
Massive room and bed,
Lovely breakfast
Friendly staff
All good
Would definitely stop over again
v. w.
Beautiful historic building, staff very accommodating, parking just across the road with tea and coffee provided for meetings. Looking forward to going there again
m. p.
Gorgeous victorian hotel...staff are great! Afternoon tea was excellent
A.
Food is alright but not amazing for this price. However the staff is pleasant and the building is very nice.
S. N.
Very good meal and service, good portion s, fondue and creme brulee exceptional
J. T.
We had dinner at their restaurant. It was an excellent meal, delicious food and great service. We'd definitely visit again.
C. M.
Stay was ok, bed comfortable enough etc. I thought the check in staff could have given a warmer welcome. Didn’t get to try the food as we had already had dinner and left our early before breakfast.
J. T.
I have been to hotel du vin for food on numerous occasions now. Always found staff to be friendly and the food of a very high standard. I would defiantly recommend the afternoon tea. 5*'s
G. W.
Amazing from start to finish. Fantastic room, comfortable bed and huge roll top bath. Great package deal for dinner B&B on A Friday night.

My wife and I had afternoon tea at Hotel du Vin and what a great experience it was. Outstanding food matched with outstanding customer service. Would highly recommend.
R. S.
The hotel bar is good, nice atmosphere and well set. Very accommodating staff and really nice building
B. W.
Amazing hotel nice clean rooms, attentive staff great atmosphere. The best staff I have experienced in any hotel - Stefan in the restaurant was so helpul with our wines and the food was fantastic and then Luis and his bar team were such good fun always smiling, they made some amazing cocktails and made our whole group feel welcome and special. The hotel is less than 60 seconds to Colmore Row which was perfect. Highly recommend.
M. S.
Lovely hotel. Room decor is a little tired but bed very comfortable. Check in staff arranged early check in for us. Breakfast service a little slow but good menu options.
K. C.
Beautiful hotel room. Staff handled all our requests regarding wedding bookings. They couldn't do enough for us.
M. S.
Beautiful decor. Champagne bar with unimaginative food and poor bar service.
T. T.
Great western food right in the heart of Pub street. We had great burgers and $.50 beer! Staff was great and it wasn’t too loud. Had a nice time.
E. B.
Stayed here for my birthday weekend and had the best stay at HDV. They went above and beyond and made sure everyone in our group was well looked after. The rooms are gorgeous and breakfast was amazing! We will return again and definitely recommend this hotel to everyone! See you soon!
D. A.
Great hotel, food is good, decor suits the rooms and very spacious
J. T.
Had a really nice afternoon tea here, with fun features like candy floss. The staff were excellent, and the food was nice. With a few tweaks the food would have been amazing
J. H.
Had a great stay the weekend at hotel du vin birmingham. Staff were great helped to make our stay amazing couldn't have asked for more, even great communication before we stayed. Rooms were lovely, newly refurbished which was a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend for any special occasions!
P. H.
Classic hotel. Old look and feel. Very helpful people who work there. Clean, beautiful spa.
J. C.
We went for a drink in the Bar du Vin. Nice and cool on a hot day, very good, friendly service but prices very expensive.
R. S.
Great staff, good central location, but seriously needs an updating and modern bright lighting. Stayed here twice now 6 days in total. Try elsewhere until they pull their fingers out.
K. B.
Didn't spend too long but it is a truly beautiful venue. Attentive staff, lovely decore. Will certainly attend again.
I. C.
Lovely place for an after dinner cocktail
D. C.
Great service, beautiful room and a mouthwatering meal in the Bistro. Overall a wonderful stay!
I. M.
Visited the hotel for Afternoon tea. Lovely surrounding in the hotel. The atmosphere was exerllent. The service was friendly and professional. The place made one feel special. The afternoon tea was one of the best I have had.
C. K.
Had a work party here. The room we were in had 80 people in and it really wasnt big enough. So much so staff and customers really struggled to move around and it got hotttt. Food was ok, nothing amazing. Good toilet facilities and the whole look and feel of the hotel is lovely. Bar downstairs and upstairs area both really nice. So not the best for group parties but everything else seems great.
L. B. G.
Love this place so much ! Really hope to be able to get back there ASAP
J. S.
Gorgeous boutique hotel, highly recommend to others. Front desk staff extremely helpful and friendly.
T. R.
Staff were excellent, food was brilliant, only complaint was it was too dark
M. M.
Attended a conference. Good facilities and good food. Also close to New street Station so 5 stars
R. S.
Old building with very interesting rooms. Good facilities in the room. Very beautiful building. Can be a little noisey if your overlooking the front due to city location. Great access to some fab bars.
T. C.
What is there not to like? All round great hotel.
D. D.
Lovely hotel. Stayed in one the suites and the room was huge with a fantastic bathhroom. Nice, friendly staff. Really liked the cocktail bar too. Breakfast was great with nice range of cooked breakfast along with all the usual. Location wise it's five minutes from the centre and about 10 minutes walk from New Street station.
F. B.
Rooms and service were excellent under the current restrictions . All food and drinks are served to the room and nothing was to much trouble.
.
M. S.
Had dinner in the Bistro.
Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere and the set menu was well priced.
Couple of issues:
One of the waiters wasn't really that pleasant.
They got the bill wrong the first time (attempted to charge us about £20 over what we were supposed to pay).
S. N.
Not quite as impressive as the Hotel Du Vin we visited in Newcastle. Food was ok, no better. Staff were superb.
L. N.
Great food very good service.value for money
K. N.
Great service, nice clean large room, comfy bedding, and good food.
Totally recommended
D. H.
Nice hotel, great gym and has a sauna and steam room. Food is lovely
A. C.
I only went to the bar where it was very pleasant. Good selection of spirits, wines, and beers. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I like hotel du vin as a location too, as it is not far from Grand Central, the Jewelry Quarter, or Brindley place.
S. E.
Another hotel favourite.
Rooms are lovely. Roll top baths and comfortable beds.
Breakfast is amazing. Eggs Benedict and Royale are the best.
Definitely recommend.
Great location for city centre and jewellery quarter nightlife.
J. C.
Very posh, really up market great place to go with the other half she loved it
M. W.
Can't fault it. Good food, great service excellent drinks.

Great hotel, beautiful rooms with high quality fixtures and fittings and a superb bath! Loved it!
R. B.
Good coustermer sevices very pleasant staff clean and well maintained good breakfast only disspointment no colmans english mustard what you see advertised is true with a little bit moor
M. H.
Love the history of the eye hospital being remodelled so tasteful and rooms all different and being given names. The old age lift is the best for nostalgia and the function rooms are excellent for wedding reception to meetings l love everything about this place as its ambience is romantic and the bar is very well stocked. A very nice place for all occasions.
G. D.
We had a Spa deal here which was good value, a very nice lunch, followed by a massage and a couple of hours in the relaxation room.
The style of the lounge bar and restaurant weren't to my taste, they had the feel of a gentleman's club, but our waitress was very good, and the food was excellent.
G. D.
Very helpful staff luxurious food and rooms
M. W.
Great hotel, been a number of times and always enjoyed our stay.
L. H.
I ate sunday lunch here. The food and service were great. It was well prices aswell for 4 courses.

This review is about the hotel and the hotel bar.
We've been in the bistro a couple of times but unfortunately it wasn't good. However the bar is lovely, warm and cosy with nice food and an extensive list of drinks.
We had the vegan steak which I highly recommend (it was excellent) and the vegan burger(tasted amazing too).
The service is friendly and professional, it's a good place to have lunch, after work drinks or whatever you fancy.
M. L.
Lovely character building with superb themed rooms. Highly recommended
B. P.
Very quirky French style hotel. All rooms are different styles and are named rather than numbered. I found it very different but nice and certainly not boring. Their restaurant does some amazing food.
T. J.
Good selection of food and drink. Great place for business meetings also.
L. S.
brilliant, clean and like a palace. Super friendly staff, with gigantic rooms.
V. R.
Lovely hotel with great ambience and service. It's a bit spooky that it was a hospital but you'd never know!
M. D.
Lovely restaurant with great food and an impressive wine list
s. s.
Superb food wine and service. Always a favourite for me and my wife.
I. W.
Excellent as always... Superb menu and fine wine list accompanies unobtrusive service.
R. S.
Stunning hotel. Beautiful rooms. Can't wait to return
G. C.
Great to be back for dinners, location of character!
C. 9.
Valet parking takes ages to get rid of car and worse when getting it back plus the queue to checkout took 15 minutes so ended up late for work. Nice room and bar but food was average
C. D.
Enjoyed lunch and spa treatment package. The lunch was delicious with plenty of food, massages were lovely and relaxing. The atmosphere in the restaurant was a bit dull and spa facilities limited. However everyone was very welcoming and friendly.
J. L.
Clean large rooms, very attentive staff. Excellent food.
K. H.
Wonderful spa and afternoon tea with my beautiful daughter, very special!
P. A.
Great location good food bad service on checking in
H. M.
Rooms fantastic and staff are polite. Car park only issue but hey the hotel was good
J. S.
Lovely setting and atmosphere. Fabulous food. Attentive staff.
Z. S.
Nice secluded bar, good drinks, sports on TV dotted about but not in your face, speak-easy feel to it.
D. M.
Lovely room so many extras. Great place and excellent breakfast.
P. M.
Lovely hotel ... Food was good but not great
m. 9.
Excellent service. Took a slight while to prepare our table so gave us a complimentary glass of prosecco. Would defo book again
M. S.
Lovely place... Very French Bistrot, great Customer Service..
M. M.
Excellent Hospitality and enjoyed the selection of food on offer, I will be back.
P. O.
Classy place, excellent menu and great service. Wine list is not extensive but ample. Would recommend to all.
a. b.
Lovely hotel, although the first room we were placed in was still occupied by another guest! A quick chat at reception assured us a new room.
C. H.
Food very nice , nice beer in bar.
T. D.
Great staff and enjoyable food. Had the Sunday brunch menu and the bread and butter pudding was incredible thoroughly recommended.
S. T.
Went first Sunday lunch. Excellent 4 course meal and the market selection of cured meats fish and salad was first class. Well worth a visit for Sunday lunch. Only issue I had is with the service charge they automatically put on the bill. We were happy to leave a tip for the waiting staff which we did. Not to have it forced on you by the hotel to help them pay their staff.
G. P.
Unfortunately the Pub du Vin was closed, went to the other hotel bar. Nice bar, service can be good, but took a while to get served as staff chatted between themselves. My beer was also not cold enough, despite coming from the fridge
J. m.
Great hotel, stayed in many of the other Hotel du Vin's and doesn't disappoint. Staff are friendly and helpful, food was great and good selection of wines.
M. m.
Lovely place friendly staff could do with a refurb now but still good.
W. J.
Great rooms and great customer service. There is however a £50 charge upfront on the room that wasn't ever explained to us so make sure you have it.
K. M.
Lovely room, gorgeous food. The shower was amazing. Definitely stay again.
A. K.
Very good hotel. Nice authentic atmosphere.
d. p.
Nice hotel and lovely afternoon tea.
j. m.
Lovely bar with great drinks in a really cosy quiet setting. Loved the big room of wine and whisky. Id be happy to get locked in one of those
D. R.
Food was lovely. I had a great night's sleep. But the Steam Room wasn't working when I visited
A. &. L.
Literally caters for all tastes. From real ale at £3.80 a pint to a bottle of wine for £1200!! Very welcoming and friendly member of staff added to a different escape from the usual. Would highly recommend for couples. 1st class.
S. T.
Lovely afternoon tea hotel is very clean and well presented
J. T.
Disappointing overall, beautiful building, but looking a little tired, especially corridors to room, and scratched surface on sideboard in room. Felt a bit dusty, in need of a bit of tlc. Food and service in restaurant was very good, and breakfast delicious.
E. B.
Very nice hotel and service. High roof, nice restaurant, bar and breakfast rooms, nice "patio" in the back, old wood flooring, old fashioned faucets... Good breakfast with original cooked meals.
A few drawbacks nevertheless : the windows in my room could have a better isolation and the bath shower was only a rain type.
K. C.
Sunday Lunch. Lovely surroundings, great food and attentive staff. Portions were great too.
R. B.
Excellent hotel with fantastic finish. Ideally located right in the city centre.
S. P.
Great food and snazzy service, lovely evening
C. L.
Staff very helpful and attentive. Beautiful building in an excellent location
M. W.
excellent food, service was very good, ambience was just right, very enjoyable
D. M.
Went for a Christmas meal there. Unfortunately room was quite cramped for the number of people and food wasn't kept warm. Vegetables were very oily and people had to wait for more food.
T. D.
Went for afternoon tea. Ok, but plenty of other afternoon tea's better and cheaper
A. M.
Lovely courtyard in the middle that's a restaurant on a hot day feels like Morocco food was very tasty and had the air of quality staff very attentive used to be the old eye hospital I think very nice place great for meetings of about 20 people
A. D.
Good service for afternoon tea and at the spa. The food was pretty and tasty. The spa is a bit dark and in the basement.
P. C.
Nice bar. Good atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon drink.
P. G. M.
Lovely bistro - fresh food and nice staff
A. A.
In desperate need of a refurb. Service inconsistent sometimes great sometimes awful. Beds comfy. Food nice.
J. B.
Fabulous hotel, so comfy and bread bar.
M. M.
I know they said it was a compact room but not being able to open the fridge fully as it hit the bed seemed a little strange. Clean enough and bed comfy
G. D.
Great cocktails. A little pricey but lovely venue
I. K.
Beautiful hotel. Very quaint and clean.
M. B.
Recently attended the Birmingham Cocktail weekend at the Hotel, but decided to stop in the Hotel bar before starting, excellent service and welcoming staff, nice and clean and modern facilities and beautifully designed hotel.
R. F. A.
Good location lovely staff excellent customer service
B. H.
Had a perfect weekend stay
M. D.
One of the best hotel in the city with soul...
I. M.
Took my Mrs here for her birthday on an overnight stay, dinner and breakfast. Staff were really helpful with arranging a surprise for the Mrs by putting roses, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in the room ready for our arrival... room facilities are great, very comfortable bed! Restaurant could do with a wider variety of food - especially the vegetarian dishes... apart from that an overall great visit to du vin... would definitely visit again!
K. C.
Lovely rooms, very good location.
C. B.
Excellent location, friendly staff, clean and quiet room.
I. M.
Great service as always. Although better snack options would be good.
J. S.
Very nice food in a very relaxed atmosphere
j. h.
Beautiful place, great food and drink selection
J. T.
The bar was great, good range of drinks and an enjoyable atmosphere. Only criticism is maybe slightly too dark
R. F.
Lovely rooms, very helpful and friendly staff
A. M.
Wonderful staff at the restaurant and spa. Tiles in gym shower were broken and coming off and changing area a bit unloved.
L. E.
Lovely hotel, great food I would definitely stay again if travelling to Brum.
I. B.
Great food and place, service could improve a little.
M. W.
realy nice and very good Quality! Food is superb!!!
j.
Colleague retiring, had a lovely afternoon tea leaving party, good food, good service and good value for money. Will visit again
L. W.
Only reason for 4 stars is, I have never actually stayed at the hotel over night, I have only ever visited for functions... based on that alone though, what I can say is you pay for quality... food and drinks are priced above average here but for the environment and level of service it is well worth it. The staff are stunning and impeccably professional, the people here know what hospitalty means.
C. W.
Fantastic hotel very professional service all round
J. D.
Great Central location and decent levels of service and accommodation
K. G.
Great bar, shabby bedroom and bathroom. In need of a refresh.
R. C.
Very nice room with an excellent walk-in shower and free-standing bathtub. However, our night's sleep was interrupted by extreme noise outside from merry party-goers and screeching vehicles. An old central heating system which the hotel seemed aware of created its own noise during the night which required turning off twice. The building is an old eye hospital converted to a hotel with great features such as a sprawling set of staircases. Staff were friendly but during our evening meal the waiting staff were perhaps overly-attentive. Main courses weren't great and somewhat bland, but the deserts were excellent. A decent range of drinks on offer as well.
D. K.
Lovely athmosphere but in need of serious renovation. Excessive price and had to wait 25 minutes for cappuccino. Should have gone to other locations near by.
T. R.
Great place. Knew a load of classics that aren't on the menu and some great martinis
K. H.
Wonderful hotel. A little tired compared to other Hotel Du Vins that I've stayed in. Great location for Birmingham though.
J. C.
Not stayed there but the bistro and pub are both nice if a little pricey
D. R.
Gorgeous food. Great ambience and fair priced
D. D.
Nice hotel , good food , atrium is great , small pub in basement , good for Sunday lunch
I. M.
Went for food. Jolly lovely, very attentive staff without being too intrusive. Only let down very slightly by undercooked aubergine. The beetroot and mozarella salad, on the other hand, was surprisingly delicious. Very likely to go back again.
B. R.
Amazing staff, made me feel so comfortable and happy
S. L.
Very dark reception, quite dangerously so. Meeting rooms very cold as was the atrium. Room was nice and in a good location.
M. D.
Great place to meet, entertain and be entertained while in Brum. Lovely pub, bistro and restaurant! Great food, brilliant wine selection - staff very professional and friendly!
P. M.
Great service and great food! The roast is delicious.
J. S.
Great food great service and nice atmosphere visited Sunday lunchtime
U. T. V.
Wanted to buy some gift vouchers from the Spa. Went to the reception at 5pm but it was deserted so waited 15 mins still no one came despite the phone ringing many times in the back office. I went to the main reception who said I needed to wait it out in the Spa reception. I came back 20 mins later and it was STILL deserted so I went back to the main reception where I was given a generic gift voucher instead.
V. R.
Awesome tradirional afternoon British tea experience! Excellwnt staff. Highly recommend. All pastries baked on site. Unlimited tea.
J. B.
Service at reception very slow. We had a booked appointment and waited 20 Mon for service. Otherwise a lovely relaxing 2 hours. All facilities were good and the back massage very therapeutic.
S.
Lovely spa experience... I was on my own and the staff were brilliant
S. B.
Love this hotel. It's the old Birmingham eye hospital and iconic building. Right in the heart of the city centre and surrounded by bars and restaurants. Stylish rooms and bathrooms and nice bar. Valet parking well worth £25 in secure car park. Breakfast was delicious. Slight hiccup as we has no hot water. Offered discount on our next stay. Highly recommended.
M. S.
Visited the bar for a quick afternoon drink and to recharge batteries after a long morning. The atmosphere was pleasant and we enjoyed our drinks, which were served promptly. It was a little disturbing that I found a very small piece of broken glass in my drink which unknowingly ended in my mouth. Luckily no harm and I was not in a mood for complaining so just told the bar staff about it to make them aware - both ourselves and staff were puzzled as to where it came from. I got a replacement drink and another one on the house. Will happily return as have done many times but will be checking my drinks from now on.
R. W.
Great value for 4 course Sunday lunch. Been here many times
Just wish the staff turnover wasn't so rapid impacts on service
S. G.
Very good food in a private dining room for about 10 people.
B. A.
Good atmosphere excellent food really ebjoyed lunch at christmas
J. B.
This place (retsaurant and bar area) has a really nice ambience. It is well decorated, cosy and the staff are friendly and offer great service. I was taken here on a second date. Perfect scene for a date with quiet music so you can talk to each other and be heard.
D. C.
Great evening, staff were very helpful and professional. Lovely building.
N. D.
Wine tasting and dinner evening - very entertaining and great food. Would highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in wine and learning more about wines from around the world!
S. L.
Nice bar. Empty on a Monday but that's quite nice. Bottled beer only but a good selection of Veltins.
J. B.
Great hotel with all the facilities you would need for a short stay!
E. v. d. K.
Superb food and atmosphere. Great service
W. M.
Lovely hotel and friendly staff. My only criticism is the room I was saying in needs some TLC.
N. A.
Delicious food, good service! I had calve's liver and it was superb!
B. H.
Good service and atmosphere. I had an aubergine dish and these weren't cooked properly but I recognise it's tricky to cook aubergines.
S. H.
Good spa but no private changing rooms. Nice food.
L. J.
Lovely food and helpful and kind staff
J. B.
Service at reception very slow. We had a booked appointment and waited 20 Mon for service. Otherwise a lovely relaxing 2 hours. All facilities were good and the back massage very therapeutic.
L. S.
Lovely food and good service as always
R. S.
The hotel bar is good, nice atmosphere and well set. Very accommodating staff and really nice building
a. k.
It was actually pretty astonishing to see how professional this event actually was. It was amazing to say the least.
T. D.
Went for afternoon tea. Ok, but plenty of other afternoon tea's better and cheaper
S. T.
Lovely afternoon tea hotel is very clean and well presented
J. L.
Great roos lovely bar. Breakfast a bit lacking g if you're plant based.
G. D.
Great cocktails. A little pricey but lovely venue
S. N.
Very good meal and service, good portion s, fondue and creme brulee exceptional
J. D.
My favourite Birmingham hotel. Often use it to celebrate a special occasion.
R. H.
Beautiful venue, wonderful and friendly staff and great cocktails
P.
The rooms are very nice, big and comfortable. Although as it is an old building, you can easily hear people from other rooms. Bathroom was also ok.
What I found a little bit disappointing was the bistrot. The bar was ok to have a drink, but a little bit old. There was no room service past 10 o’clock to have something to eat if you make it late. The breakfast was a little bit poor, even the bread wasn’t good...
On the other side, it is in the perfect spot, just a minute from the cathedral and other principal places.
R. S.
Nice hotel, massive rooms and good location
S. L.
The Sunday brunch is excellent value for four courses of great quality food. Worth going back for again and again.
H. R.
Lovely staffeta, brilliant service. Will recommend to all company's and familis too.
C. T.
Excellent city centre location near in-between the cathedral and Snow Hill train station. Room was very good and staff were friendly. Limited parking outside available. Only negatives I can think of is that the lighting is quite low and for a high end hotel there was no swimming pool. For a special occasion I would recommend this hotel.
R. C.
Cocktails were lovely, convenient location. Very nice loos!
S. S.
Great food, excellent beer, and friendly service. I always look forward to popping in when I'm in Birmingham.
T. H.
Great room, Nespresso machine, good bar, central location, can't fault it.
N. H.
Had a cheaper second visit because our first one was ruined by the street noise as we were situated on the road at the front on a Friday night.
Food - excellent offering, particularly for breakfast
Bar - some nice cocktails but I think it ruins the vibe when you let people bring their bulldog into the bar and let him sit in front of the bar slurping water out of a bowl
Service - average
Check in - tried to charge me for breakfast again obvs hadn’t looked at screen as it was included in our room
Staff - on both visits the restaurant staff general vibe is that you are chore and a drain on their time /energy and as a result they don’t give you much time of day.
Room - shower and bath are amazing, as is the bed. Very few rooms are sound proofed adequately (hence our revisit) so if a light sleeper insist on a room at the back of the building it is a lot better
Y. M.
Really good service. Hotel staff are wicked
D. M.
Having attended events here before I'm pleased the high standard of service is constantly maintained.
P. W.
This is one of the more pleasant hotels in the centre of Birmingham. It has atmosphere and character. The staff are smiley and the service is good. There are a number of different dining areas to choose from. It's location is very central and is about a 15 minute walk from the station.
P. F.
As a None resident using the Bar i found poor service and very rude staff especially the Chinese Lad who seriously needs customer service Training...
P. M.
Excellent hotel would highly recommend
b. s.
Our room was a little dark and old fashioned. Car valet service excellent.
C. H.
Great venue. Staff very helpful. Great night.
A. C.
Afternoon Tea is great here. They have an excellent selection of gluten free items. Booking advisable
M. N.
Great venue to meet up. Excellent service.
C. J.
Visited here for drinks. Lovely place...😊😊
P. G.
Food was great - service slipped as the night went on.... and on, and on!
G. M.
Came here for a christmas meal plus afternoon tea, service can be abit slow and staff can sometimes seem distant and cold which is why i can't give it 5 stars. The food however is amazing, the 3 course christmas meal was so good and full of flavour. The afternoon tea was good value for money with rich food.
J. M.
amazing food and staff, service was great :0)
S. J.
Afternoon tea was lovely and service was excellent.
B. f. B.
A very nice hotel but its a treat not a routine break ££££££££££££
A. B.
Really good hotel with helpful staff and gorgeous rooms
J. W.
Great location. Rooms could do with a spruce up though
P. H. a. W. v.
Hey so good staff so friendly spa is well kept
M. A.
I'm not too sure about this place. When you arrive it looks lovely and not as if it's part of a chain, warmly satisfied that you made the right choice. But with Hotel Du Vin's reputation I would expect the small things to be up to scratch.
Things like mould on the grouting in a tired bathroom. A shabby carpet. A mini bar fridge that is barely cooler than room temperature. The missing hotel information - Wi-Fi, breakfast times etc. And other little things you notice that if you didn't would prove that the smaller details are taken care of. The kind of things that you remember instead of the superb bed. Details which would reinforce the reputation and would not make the very smart staff uniform and tastefully understated reception area seem a bit hollow, or even unjustifiably smug. It kind of made me think a bit too much about whether or not I liked it. Which I suppose gives me my answer.
G. B.
Had a lovely evening here listening to Julian Smith and an amazing singer. Drinks are a bit expensive though.
N. P.
Visited here to have afternoon tea on mothers day. The bar area is very nice which is where we waited until we were seated at our table. The room we had tea in was very bare decor wise, dark and gloomy. The ambiance overall was poor. The tables were very old and needed covering with table clothes. It reminded me of a meeting room and whilst we were still eating some of the employees were moving tables and chairs about. I felt uncomfortable as there was a draft. I think the room isn't suitable for eating in.
M. J.
Nice olives and nibbles. Expensive. Attentive service. Bit posh really.
j. d.
Very nice place with friendly staff
D. G.
Nice afternoon tea. Good service.
R. R.
Very good food but half a cider was £5, not acceptable. Went to the pub across the road for drinks. About £4 for a pint of Guinness; far better.

Superb hotel top quality

We came here for afternoon tea. It is a beautiful Victorian venue and originally was the Birmingham Eye Hospital. It's worth popping in just to view the majestic foyer and the garden room, which has a sliding roof. I had the vegan option of afternoon tea, and my partner had the vegetarian. I have to admit I was envious of his sandwiches, the vegan option was beautifully presented but very complicated and the only savoury items were a scone and cauliflower in batter. The chocolate sweet was amazing though, it tasted like real cream and was very deeply chocolatey. The date and coconut slice was sublime too. I would say that vegans like the same food as anybody else. A good old vegan cheese and pickle sandwich and roasted aubergine and hummus would make this perfect. Thanks for making the effort to provide a vegan menu though, it is very much appreciated.
R. B.
Good service but scones overcooked and cakes varied in quality.
D. D.
Great hotel nice Room
G. H.
Great place to stay, within walking distance to the bullring, mailbox and jewellery quarter
M. C.
Bar was excellent and coffee very good
S. J.
Fabulous meal in lovely surroundings
J. S.
Very nice decor, super friendly staff
D. B.
Went for lunch and ordered octopus starter which was delicious. For the main course a chicken salad but the chef forgot to put the chicken on the salad!
Service was good.
M. W.
Comfy bed. Friendly staff. Great position for city centre
B. M.
Went for a launch event. Good central location and friendly staff.
P. M. L.
Nice food and very smart building.

Classy sophisticated establishment.. will definitely be going back
F. L.
Luxurious oasis of calm in centre of city. Friendly, professional service
Great spa in basement
U. H.
Went for afternoon tea, was really very good
A. B.
We stayed in the Principal Suite a few weekends ago. The positive points of our stay definitely had to be the massive bed in the room. It was a very comfortable and we both slept extremely well. The other positive was the bistro restaurant. There was one waiter in particular who was amazing but I unfortunately cannot remember his name. He recommended a fantastic bottle of wine for both nights that we stayed and he was very attentive.
The room its self was very large, it had a lovely view of the church and also had a few beanbags on the window which I found to be a nice area for our morning coffee. However it did get quite cold at night time, despite having the heating on full power and tI found the curtains hard to draw closed.
I was annoyed by the fact that they did not have bubble bath available, despite having two big roll top baths in the middle of the bathroom. Also we found that it was impossible for both showers to be on at the same time without flooding the bathroom. We is such a shame as what is the reason of having two shower heads if they can't be used at the same time?
Overall it was a nice stay. It could definitely use a refresh in the room as it did look very tired and to me it was not worth the money we paid, which is quite annoying as we love staying in Du vin hotels and do so on a very regular basis.
T. C.
Really good wine list and the onion soup and cassoulet were to die for!
A. A.
Excellent rooms, though a little noisy outside I hadn't noticed a couple of times
T. T.
Great deals on a Sunday and a wine list to die for. Nice little "away day".
N. M.
Afternoon tea was fantastic! Location is beautiful and the food was great.
A. W.
I adore this hotel. Not cheap, but then it's a high-end hotel, not a Travelodge. Very snazzy champagne/cocktail bar, and a brilliant restaurant. (Sunday Lunch here is the best in Birmingham) All the waiting staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the Maitre D' always goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect, and the Sommelier is mind-bogglingly knowledgeable. I couldn't recommend it more.
M. M.
Our favourite hotel in Birmingham. It is starting to look a bit shabby in places but is still leagues ahead of anywhere else.
T. D.
Amazingly quiet..... Lovely place to relax and have a nice wine or bottle of fizz.... Champers of course!
W. M.
Birthday treat, wonderful hotel, restaurant, perfect overnight stay.
M. K.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. Gluten free bread did take a while to arrive. Food was good overall, one of our steaks was a touch under, but pork & haggis starter and game & venison pudding main were very rich and tasty. Overall, pleased with our meal, with just a couple of minor hiccups
M. P.
Sterling service, fantastic menu in the restaurant, quality rooms and great selection of wines.
L. Y.
Went for the spa and dinner at the bistro. Everyone was amazingly polite and helpful. The spa is downstairs and very dark but that's the point I guess. Spa had sauna and steam room, no jacuzzi or pool though which was disappointing. Had treatments four a back, shoulder and neck massage, as well as a head and scalp massage. Very professional. Bistro was lovely, starters were great and service fantastic. Mains weren't as good but still good
A. G.
nice room, bathroom wasn't clean though. very close to town centre.
s. w.
A well upgraded hotel, but male on the desk could not understand me very well.
J. W.
Brilliant - Afternoon tea well priced and delicious
m. D.
Great service . Really good atmosphere.

I've been to every one of these in the UK and all the staff are amazing.
A. F.
Attended the Birmingham Cocktail weekend and what a great way to start! Excellent venue, thoroughly enjoyed.
J. C.
Had afternoon tea here for my birthday - sandwiches were good unfortunately my scones were hard!I am gluten free and have managed to find GF scones better than these!
K. R.
Nice atmosphere and great cocktails
E. G.
Large and comfortable rooms in a quiet area of central Birmingham. Great service, but a tad pricey
E. B.
Attended a cocktail weekend. Lovely venue and good drinks.
C. R.
Great food great service
N. A.
Quiet and intimate. A large collection of drinks to choose from. One of my favourite places in Birmingham
K. H.
Up Market hotel and bistro. Great atmosphere. You are made to feel special from the moment you step through the doors. The reception staff are very friendly and professional. I went to the bar first for a drink. Good range of ales and wine's also cocktails. The coffee was wonderful. Then onto the court yard for afternoon tea. American style. Great food and service. I have not stayed here but will try when I go to a concert. To summarise I feel you get the top London service at an affordable price. Must be one of Birmingham s best hotel and value for money
b. l.
Great service l, relax in style
R. S.
Great place.
The sunday buffet lunch is well worth the money.
Service is always great!
M. S.
Excellent place will ago again
S. T.
Lovely food, in a quite unusual building
S. L.
Late cancelled our booking via open table! but a free bottle of champagne helped
J. S.
French 75 was lush, surrounded by champagne greats
Comfy rooms, chilled bar and away from the madness of other chain hotels
J. S.
Great food and great service
d. g.
Fabulous food and a good price
Z. J.
Traditional & the most beautiful hotel this side of Birmingham. Needs to work on its access facilities for the disabled and elderly.
E. A.
It's okay, they're trying to be 5 star...I don't think they're really there yet
J. R.
Fabulous breakfast!
G. S.
Brilliant wine tasting with the Birmingham Wine School. Rob was excellent, as was the wine, and the food and service. Highly recommended.
