Lovely, small and historic Christian Orthodox chapel of St Helen, the patron of Colchester. The community and priest are all very warm and welcoming. Weekday services are sometimes held here, while Sunday liturgy is held at the Christian Orthodox church of St Martin's, a few steps further down from St Helen's.

St Helen's is a small Orthodox chapel (now Greek Orthodox), dating back to medieval times and dedicated to Colchester's patron saint. It provides a much-needed and tranquil place for prayer and is open when services are not on. It isn't easy to find, although it is signposted from the High Street near the castle. Proceed past Castle Methodist church, continue about halfway down the hill, turn left at a disused theatre and you will find St Helen's on your left. Difficult for wheelchair users to access, but doable with assistance. You can leave prayer requests.
