Reviews of St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral
We had a fantastic experience getting married at the Cathedral. Fr Jamie went above and beyond to ensure our wedding went off without a hitch, and leading up to the big day he was very quick to respond to inquiries and help. We feel so fortunate that we were able to get married in such a beautiful church

Sacred place
Catholic Cathedral of the city. It's not very big but it's nice to look at. In Italy, for example, there are village churches much larger than this one. Some of the decorations are a bit on the edge of the theme park, I hope I have explained myself and not offend anyone. Many services are celebrated in Polish, the Polish community is the largest in Edinburgh.
There are descriptive flyers also in Italian.
Very pretty and interesting. The exterior almost goes unnoticed as it is in a very new area, but the interior is fantastic. It is very worth it.
A magnificent Catholic cathedral, five minutes of peace and quiet.
(Translated) Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Edinburgh. One of the few Catholic-Polish parishes in Edinburgh. In Scotland, the main religion is Protestantism. In England there is Anglicanism and the head of the church is the Queen, both denominations are maintained by the state treasury. Pastors are on state salaries, temples are publicly funded and renovated, and are owned by the state. Every year, on average, one church is sold and turned into a pub, travel agency, hotel, restaurant.

Katedra Najświętszej Maryi Panny Wniebowziętej w Edynburgu. Jedna z kilku Katolickich- Polskich parafii w Edynburgu.
We loved the Mass here this morning. Compelling and helpful homily, joyful music. A beautiful church and community. Best Mass my son has ever been to. Thank you!
Nice experience, nice cathedral, beautiful interior and amazing smell. The new board in the middle made a nice feeling. I recommend visitors and those who are looking for Polish symbols in Scotland.
A nice experience, nice cathedral, beautiful interior and amazing smell. The new board inside gave a nice feeling. I recommend it to visitors and those looking for Polish symbols in Scotland.
I attended mass and was lucky enough to see a pipe organ recital. It felt very similar to the Korean Mass, so it was very enjoyable and great. In addition, children at an elementary school started their semester with a mass here. It was a good experience. The organ performance in the evening was also fantastic.
Polish masses on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., during the week at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 a.m.
A beautiful cathedral, masses are held here in Polish.
Beautiful Roman Catholic Apostolic Church
There may be more people at Holy Mass and you can come from the street, there will be a place for everyone
I attended the 2015 Christmas mass, it was wonderful, a warm welcome, even though I don't speak English, I followed it via the missal. The moment of Eucharistic communion was fantastic. I felt an immense emotion. Christmas is deeply felt in Edinburgh.
Beautiful building and richly decorated interior. You can participate here on Sunday at 11:00 in Polish mass.
It is very beautiful and a place that if you have time you should visit and we were able to go inside to see the interior without paying
Everyone needs to visit this church, whether they are tourists or not. I highly recommend it.
Catholic cathedral near the city center.
Fantastic. Rich in detail, worth a visit.
Very nice. It's worth going in and visiting
Very fine Catholic Church, the mass and the faithful willing and very collaborative with foreigners, mass hours 8 am during the week and evening mass at 6:00 pm
Beautiful Catholic cathedral
A great experience to visit this impressive cathedral. Very impressive
Office very easy to follow even when you are not perfectly bilingual because you have the text
Beautiful, you have to visit it if you go to Edinburgh.
A very welcoming place, with very friendly people and a good sermon.
One of the most important Catholic churches in Edinburgh.
Beautiful cathedral, mass in Polish at 10.30
This is a Cathedral that made me feel at peace the very first time i visited. Once inside I felt that I entered another world of silence, tranquillity, peace and and so much beauty. I left the hectic world outside and could pray with no interruptions. I usually attend the Vigil Mass and I always feel recharged at the end.
Polish Holy Masses. What more could you want?
Stately historic building to see!
Great atmosphere. Beautiful place.

It's very pretty

Pretty.
Beautiful. (No public restrooms.)
Love going to mass at the cathedral so peaceful
Lovely cathedral. Very central. Beautifully decorated. Mass in English, Polish and, I assume, Latin.
Nice cathedral. Recommended for a visit.
Could not visit inside unfortunately but it looks captivating from outside. Far from tourists.
Although there are more beautiful and spectacular cathedrals in Britain, namely Westminster and Liverpool, Edinburgh has a good location and is not hidden by other buildings which wasn't always the case. Until the 1960's it was in a narrow street which was cleared when the St James Centre was built.
I sometimes go to mass on a Saturday morning 🌄 🙃.
I liked the calmness of the interior decoration
I agree with others that this no architectural marvel like St. Giles, but it is still a nice place. There are also statues outside, one of which is a hand. Though it has prayerful meaning, it reminded me of my cousin as I waked past it nearly every day on my three week visit. Keiko, you lost the hand!
One of the most beautiful place in Edinburgh
this cathedral has a hidden gem which is Father Jamie, arpiest that will be saint one day-mark my words!!! cathedral overall is a peaceful, spiritual place, very prescious to me....
Lovely church. We went to the vigil mass and it was celebrated very reverently. Stunned to not only see the altar rials survived the 70’s, but are in use today!
I'm a visitor and from London. Very peaceful and quiet . An ideal place for prayers and meditation . A lot of devotees are continuously coming in and out to pray! Beautiful church too.
This is one of my favourite churches it’s very beautiful
This is a calm, tranquil place of worship, the organ acoustics are excellent!
The ideal place for a rest, reflection, prayer, meditation, a haven of peace and tranquillity in the centre of amazing Edinburgh.
Impressive Catholic Cathedral. Great venue for social meetings. Masses run regularly. Awesome interior design. Modern statue complex has been recently built in front of the cathedral. Beautiful landmark in the city centre.
Attended Mass at the Cathedral today while In Edinburgh for the festival. How wonderful to be in a church that has not only kept its altar rail, but actually USES it!! Thank you Edinburgh
Small but nice and quiet cathedral.
This is my favourite worship/prayer place as I am a Christian and whenever I have the time i go there for my prayers. Very nice and beautiful place.
Very nice
Amazing church service.
The altar was exactly where I expected to find it. That's why I found it there, just where I expected it to be. I was pleasantly surprised. No pun intended.
Beautiful old interior that is well maintained. A very calm and friendly church.
Amazing choir and a nice spiritual experience for Easter
Gorgeous church tucked in behind John Lewis. Good to understand why it is so secluded, of course Catholism was frowned on and punishable in the days it was founded on this site
Beautiful cathedral located in a secluded location in Edinburgh.Nice place to visit with family to offer prayers to the God.
Wonderful Catholic Cathedral, regular Masses.
Nothing outstanding architecture-wise but spiritual place.Active Polish community& services
A beautiful little church that we stumbled upon our visit to Edinburgh.
Beautiful church and one of the few buildings that were not demolished as part of the St James Shopping Centre development in the 60s, luckily!
Architecturally, the cathedral is quite understated. The congregation is quite large though and local support network appears to be solid.
I am from Nigeria on a visit to Edinburgh. Mass at St Mary 's is peaceful and heavenly. Friendly community!
A nice quite cathedral, though far from the grand cathedrals of elsewhere leaving it tranquil, especially for a few prayers.
Good place to stop by and sit in peace and pray. A quiet, somewhat hidden from shopping routes.
Try it!
Friendly and family place to visit. Having your quite time here with God is great
Beautiful Church, used to go there, friendly priests, polish mass and amazing architecture
It’s really nice church and I was attended the sunday service.
the church is nicely decorated, as an international student i feel like the community is very welcome and kind :)
Very nice choir but not enough masses in English. Too many polish masses
Beautiful cathedral

Good service in both English and polish. Also we are having confession session
Beautiful church. Mass here is amazing
Historic places to visit!
Whenever I'm in Edinburgh I always go to this church!
We did our daughter's baptism there. Is beautiful!!
Have enjoyed each visit, learning new things every time.
Attractive church with reasonable preaching from what I've seen. Typically Catholic, does what it says on the tin.
As you can expect from every place of worship the place is peaceful and will help you to stop, reflect, meditate maybe ans certainly to take a refuge from outside world even if it is for a short while. Interesting interior, stunning architecture and the Catholic shrine inside is also worth to see. Even if you are agnostic or you do not practice your religion this church will give you a moment of peace.
A nice place to worship
Very beautiful and friendly cathedral
Lovely coffee and cake.
A place for quiet prayer and public worship.
