Reviews of St Mary Abbots Church
This is a beautiful church located at the heart of High St Kensington three minute walk from High St Kensington underground station and from Kensington Palace and Gardens the present church structure was built in 1872 to the designs of Sir George Gilbert Scott, who combined neo-Gothic and early-English styles. This edifice remains noted for having the tallest spire in London and is the latest in a series on the site since the beginning of the 12th century.
The church, and its railings, are listed at Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England. So if you are into churches history it's a place worth visiting.
Very beautiful inside and out. We came here for mass at Christmas, it was a very nice experience.
(Translated) Wonderful, enchanting, it seems to return to the times of Henry V

Beautiful church!!
Very romantic
Magnificent place of peace and quiet just off the very busy High Street. There's a lively school next door and the sounds of children playing nearby gave a sense of life and modernity. The church is well kept and impressive.
majestic and beautiful

Fascinating
Beautiful church near Kensington Palace on the High Street. The gardens, although small, are charming. The staff at the church is also polite and helpful
Very nice place church was open
Peaceful little garden area to relax in the sun.
I often attend services here when visiting London. Beautiful large 19th C church, an oasis in busy Kensington High Street area. Very welcoming clergy and personnel. Lovely music and professional choir. Much history to take in. Wonderful bell-ringing -- listen for the bells on Sunday mornings, and enjoy!
Lovely church from the mid 19th century. We happened to stop here on a walking tour of Kensington village. What a delightful neighborhood church. The extra seating on each pew definitely indicated planning for a larger congregation. Lovely cloister garden as well.
Attended for a christening. Lovely church in heart of Kensington. Great architecture and gardens. Priest was a charming man. Worth a visit and a nice break from the busy high Street
Historic church which welcomes all, even those of little faith. And who doesn't like some peaceful thought and mindfulness in such a welcoming environment.
We visited at Christmastime (December 2015) after visiting Kensington Palace; and conveniently located to the arorementioned palace.
Infront was the sale of Christmas trees and what an inviting aroma for which to enter the church at this time of year!
What wonderful architecture. Beautiful church. The cloister-like entery was "the draw" to it for me.
Lovely!
With the tallest spire in southeast England, St Mary Abbots is a nice and well cared for church. It’s almost always open and the architecture is quite nice and interesting both inside and out. It has a small gated area around with a lovely garden just outside. It’s always a pleasure to visit.
No words to describe this wonderful church. Just in the heart of Kensington and Chelsea. Buses and underground nearby. Shopoings and Restaurants. A must see for London lovers.
Beautiful grounds, and lovely old church. Beatrix Potter (author of the Peter Rabbit books) was married here.

My favourite church in London. A beautiful, tranquil and spiritual place
Truly stunning church. The great Douglas Bader was married here.
Picturesque old Anglican Church which sometimes has concerts. Hidden gem of historic Kensington.
A wonderful Church in a very busy part of the City. Truly a place of sanctuary in our high speed world.
The Saint Mary Abbots Church is a beautiful religious building located between Kensington Gardens and Holland Park.
Top church, bigger inside than it looks
The memorials are pure history. They are an insight into painful realities of organizing the British Empire.
Very modest, low key church that you might miss from busy Kensington. Lovely neo Gothic structure, and lots of nice stained glass. We passed by just before the 6:15pm organ recital on Sunday, so stopped in for a nice respite from a long day in London.
Really beautiful place to visit. Amazing building style. Well taken care off
A historical find just off the corner of High Street Kensington, a quiet sanctuary and beautiful church
A church in the middle of the street.

Nice to nip in and take a look. Peaceful oasis, but not noteworthy.
What a wonderful church! The Priest has a great presence and a sonorous voice.
Gorgeous, spiritual and an oasis of calm in the midst of frenetic Kensington
Lovely church, well worth a wander around.
Had the opportunity to sing here for a carol service for three years, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Beautiful church and stain glass windows
A nice place to rest when everything else feels hectic.
Beautiful hidden gem in London
Beautiful church. Enormous cat.
Grade II Listed, this rubble-stone and ashlar Victorian High Gothic church attributed to George Gilbert Scott (1872).
This is a formidable building.
An imposing large carved (stained-glass) window on the western front, a narrow aisled nave with the pulpit, some monuments and accoutrements preserved from previous incarnations.
Isaac Newton, a former parishioner here.
An active community.
Peace and quiet I always go there.
Amazing church and free entry

Awesome church.
Was there recently, enjoyed the beautiful architecture and was fascinated with the whole history of the place and it's connection to Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Worth a read.
Friendly staff excellent
Beautiful place.
What a lovely Church, we were there late afternoon and the sun was shining on the altar making it glow, it was beautiful. A lovely place to cool down and escape from the noise outside. The gardens behind are also lovely. Well worth a visit.

Very beautiful church interior.
We also went there during a walk, and it was a nice surprise.
Very nice church. It's worth going in and seeing it for a bit. The impressive windows. Very nice garden. It has a very nice walkway.
Located in the Kensington neighborhood, its origins date back to the year 1262, when the Benedictines founded a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in this place. After several renovations, the original church was demolished, and the current one was built between 1860 and 1872, in neo-Gothic style and with the tallest tower in London, with a height of 85 meters, preserving some elements of the previous constructions, such as several funerary monuments, the oldest dating back to the mid-17th century. A cemetery is preserved around it, as well as a primary school founded in 1707. I visited it on the occasion of the Christmas Carol Concert, held on December 4, 2019, with a stellar performance by Katie Melua, being able to enjoy not only its beauty but its magnificent acoustics and its beautiful cloister, very original, which extends around the outside of the church with direct access to its main door. The visit is free and the opening hours are from 07:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays, and from 07:00 to 19:00 on Sundays.
A very nice church with an amazing atmoaphere. One can go for a prayer in the heart of Kensington and enjoy the silence
(Translated) Free entrance. Beautiful church with a dark air. Tombs and Gothic gallery outside. It is worth visiting
(Original)
Entrada gratuita. Iglesia preciosa con un aire tenebroso. Tumbas y galería gótica en el exterior. Merece la pena visitarla
Everyone is welcome to enter the beautiful churches in this area, and although there are many cemeteries above ground, it is not at all scary.
Neo-Gothic church that claims to have the tower with the highest point of the churches in London. Own for collection.
Very beautiful church! Regardless of religion, come and pray! God will hear you and give you peace!
A small artistic gem in the heart of Kensington with a very romantic secluded garden
Small oasis of peace, in a tree-lined garden, very quiet and above all secluded, despite being on Kensington High St.
Mother's Day Mass 🤗🤗👌👌
You can breathe a "gothic" air inside and outside the elaborate architecture! A lovely secluded and well-kept corner with courtyards and gardens, cut by the pedestrian walkway which instantly takes you away from the noise, traffic, crowds and distractions of the "high street". Invited to relax and think on the "memory" benches, there is also no shortage of reflections for those who, with a spirit of observation, notice inscriptions in memory of the past among the scattered stone slabs... under our gaze! Also unexpected are the cute little single-window shops on the stretch of the driveway outside the courtyards.
It's very quaint, you can see inside.
A different church, it is worth knowing both its interior and exterior
Its a beautiful church located at the heart of High St Kensington ,a 3 minute walk from High St Kensington underground stn.
It is a typical English church that I liked. It is a little different from Spanish churches but it has its charm and leaves you with the feeling that time has stopped there. Don't stop appreciating the gardens it has.
Lovely!!!!! It's worth knowing her!!! Along with the antique passage that is next to it
It is nothing short of splendid, luckily I saw it from the bus otherwise I really didn't know it existed. Absolutely worth seeing.
Pleasant surprise, inside the church there was a splendid cat sleeping 😀
Passed by by chance, it's an excellent discovery, very pretty Gothic-style church, very peaceful and calm gardens.
Beautiful and charming typical church. In addition to its cemetery and school. All very native.
Beautiful stained glass and architecture. Highly recommended, to enjoy the visit more, to document the history of the church beforehand.
The church was open and the atmosphere was warm, the wood, the pews, the silence.
Beautiful and familiar, typically English church, it is worth visiting.
Supperrr ♥️♥️🙏🤗
It's a very nice and calm church. 🎄I participated in mass. 2016
Beautiful church, a little cathedral in the heart of London. Excellent sound and the Messiah was, as usual, a very emotive concert.
Thank you to the organisers for keeping the agenda going and make the event feel so Covid safe.
