A very unique and cool church. We visited on Halloween and the skulls at the gates already gave a sense that this was an old and unusual place. When I saw the grave of Christopher Marlowe (famous Elizabethan playright that some say inspired Shakespeare) I realised this wasn't an "everyday" sort of church. Well worth visiting and exploring!

I haven visiting this church from outside since 2009 when my daughter staying in Macmillan village. The oldest church in area with lot of old graveyards. The services timing I seen on Sunday morning. Old building is worth seeing. It is near creek road and easily reachable by Bus no 188 and 199. Nearest tube station is cutty dark.

It is steeped in history from the Roman period to 20th centery. With a famous guest buried there! The playwright and suspected spy Christopher Marlowe. Who had been killed in deptford. Small grounds and headstones. To beautiful interior within the main church. Regularly in use from sunday serivce to other activities throughout the week to year. So come vist and say a hi to Christopher for me.

All souls day, is just one of the services this church provides. It is a moving and beautiful experience, the dimming of the lights, when you light your candles for those you wish to remember and the music that is played, is not only beautiful but haunting. A lovely place to feel welcomed, and not alone.

Came across this unique church while with a friend. Unfortunately was unable to gain access due to the evening period causing the gates to be locked but would have loved to have gone inside. The large skull heads placed on the entrance pillars, had me intrigued and the plaque stating the period of time a church had resided on the site. Was a total unexpected discovery in a rare and odd location. Would love to explore this further as curiosity to its strangeness has my attention 🤔
