I have worshipped at this church on an off all my life. I prefer a more traditional service but the comfort I receive of the familiarity of the surroundings far outweighs this. Changes occur with the clergy over the years and each one brings their own vision. At the end of the day you can worship with others there, but in your own way. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. Services are also available on Zoom at the moment and you can get the link by asking Giles Fraser, the current Rector.

I am a young person who has been to lots of different services (because of work I have moved around a lot). Every time at this church, at least one person makes an effort to chat to me, in an unaffected, friendly, neighbourly fashion - as if I had been there every week. Every time at this church, I am moved by the clear bonds of community and love between them all (in the form of celebrating someone's birthday or picking out holding someone in particular in prayer). Every time at this church, I hear a sermon that reminds me of God's saving love.
Thank you St Marys!

A really welcoming, kind, moving church. The organist is excellent, and Canon Fraser presents thoughtful, philosophical, lively sermons which are retained in the mind and heart for a long time afterwards. The people who attend and who serve at the church are lovely and thoughtful. I am very pleased to attend this church.

I have been worshipping here for nearly a year (via Zoom) and find the service uplifting and thought-provoking.
The congregation are very friendly and welcoming.
There is a real Community spirit which comes across and I hope that I will be able to join them in the future.
Thank you!

As a worshipper at St Mary Newington for almost ten years i have found that I have experienced how the traditional 'high' forms of service used at this church can be upliftingly leavened by a personal energy, kindness and insightfulness from the clergy and the the warmth and inclusiveness of the congregation. Anglo-catholic in tradition and practice, immediate and compassionate in personal experience.

Another extraordinarily thought-provoking sermon this morning from Giles Fraser on Lent in Lockdown. As ever set in a prayerful Anglican mass with wide participation from the parishioners of this welcoming South London church – joined by participants from all over the country, and the wider world, thanks to Zoom

A fabulously welcoming community whose love and care for each other shines
Prayers and preaching biblical, current and never fails to encourage and inspire for the week ahead
Excellent and able use of zoom by the church team to reach across the local and worldwide attendees.
A definite for your weekly agenda

I HAVE BECOME A MEMBER OF THE CONGREGATION OF THIS.WONDERFUL CHURCH SINCE THE START OF THE COVID PANDEMIC. I AM 80 YEARS OF AGE, BRITISH BUT LIVING IN MAURITIUS SINCE 2004. MAURITIUS HAS A MAINLY HINDU POPULATION & VERY FEW CHRISTIAN PLACES OF WORSHIP WHICH ARE USUALLY CATHOLIC. AS A PROTESTANT I HAD HAD NO PLACE OF WORSHIP IN MY NEW HOME COUNTRY. AT THE START OF THE COVID THREAT. CHRISTIAN FRIENDS IN UK TOLD ME ABOUT UK CHURCHES THAT WERE CONDUCTING WORSHIP THROUGH THE ZOOM INTERNET SYSTEM. I CONTACTED ST. MARY'S CHURCH & WAS WARMLY WELCOMED TO WORSHIP WITH THEM. APART FROM THE 4 HOUR TIME DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 COUNTRIES, WHICH MEANS 6PM SERVICE TIMES ARE 10PM FOR ME, THIS OPPORTUNITY HAS BEEN WONDERFUL & MY FAITH HAS BEEN STRENGTHENED THROUGHOUT MY EXPERIENCE. THE CONGREGATION HAS MANY ETHNIC GROUPS FROM AFRICA, THE CARIBBEAN & ASIA. BEYOND THE WORSHIP LED BY THEIR INSPIRATIONAL PRIEST THEY ARE VERY ACTIVE IN BRINGING GOD'S LOVE TO HIS PEOPLE THROUGH CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES TO ALL IN NEED IN THE LOCAL AREA. IF YOU EVER HAVE THE CHANCE TO VISIT THIS VERY SPECIAL CHURCH YOU WILL KNOW THE WARMTH OF THE POWER OF CHRIST IN HIS HOUSE.

A very short history of the parish church building and is judged on history and not the ministry of the parish.
I gather that the church is towards the Anglo-Catholic order of churchmanship.
