Reviews of Parish Church of Saint George

Another ancient medieval church sitting in a corner that looks closed and deserted most times. Their website seems active thou. It’s one of the two medieval church dedicated to at George.

Fascinating building with many details of historic and architectural interest, but of course more to the point, it also has lovely kind members of the congregation looking after it, who are very welcoming and informative.

This church is where I was baptised back in November 2012 and confirmed in June 2013, where the only accessible part of the church was the chancel area. It is of the High Anglican tradition and is welcoming to all people, whatever their creed, gender or background. It's worship is the Common Worship traditional language for the responses, the Gloria, the Creed. It does use contemporary language for the Eucharistic prayer except in Lent and Advent where the only thing modern about the services are the prayers and the readings. The church is open all year round on Thursday mornings and occasionally on Saturday mornings, and between April and September on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Sunday services are at 11 and on Friday at 10 with other services as advertised.

Very high in its worship, friendly clergy. Once a great puritan church.
