The St Walstan, the peoples hero legend, is nowadays revived and available to read about. unfortunately the vast/if not all the church has been replaced. Rebuild mostly in the 13th & 14th Century, no doubt from some of the money bearing generosity of the multitude of pilgrims visiting the shrine.
Having said that, the church contains a vast array of historic objects, medieval stained glass perhaps looked on by those very pilgrims. Brasses from near and further away reset in their preset place for reasons unknown. Wall painting, unpainted screen, poor box, all of which add up to a most interesting visit to this simple yet most beautiful church.

Lovely church situated in the village of bawburgh. I recently had my sons christening here and the service was fantastic. The church is packed with history and really cosy. Parking is available for services and the views behind the church are beautiful.

This Saxon church dates back to the 11th century and is named after Saint Walstan, the patron Saint of farmers. This is also the place where Saint Walstan died (circa 1016) on his cart pulled by an ox. A spring (and well) can be found somewhere near the church marking the place he died.

Bawburgh Church is lovely, the employed personnel are lovely, the only thing missing is a toilet! Hopefully they can get some funding to build one on the side like Little Melton Church.
