Great Community space. Potential to make a big profit from footfall. Must be why the City council apportioned funding to restore the building. The posh market in City centre. Fringe theatre public debate retro and vintage fairs etc.. comfortable cafeteria in the vestibule. The altar is perfect for staging performances. Could work well for Cabinet meetings? Prayer sessions? Hope for the homeless? masonic gatherings? Useful 'Community' facility. Rock on John.

2 mugs of tea and Victoria sponge cake for £2:60.
Nice tea, delicious cake and wonderful service.
As always.
Free Sat morning? Go visit. Whilst there, look at the second hand books as well.
Once you've had your tea + choice of any one of several cakes or sausage rolls, take a look at this beautiful historic Church. It's an oasis.
Busy but always a place for inner contemplation.
A nice place right in the heart of the city. Can't ask for more than that, really.

Good community space. Attractive church in Cathedral Square. Welcoming on days that cafe is open. Great venue for local and national acts/theatre. Regular use for 'fayres' etc. Fits in well with City 'footfall' targeting as the building is occupied by people most days. Not sure how well attended the Church is for Protestant worship as I have never attended. I am sure the parishioners do good works of service to keep the place going. Thankfully it wasn't a historic building earmarked for demolition to make way for an Executive/council vanity project.

St John's is a lovely church with a really peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
There is a regular cafe open inside, where you can relax and get served by charming people and soak up the vibe.
There are also regular music and art events and lectures on subjects varied far and wide.
It seems rude to compare it with the cathedral but where the cathedral scores on grandeur and historic significance; St John's wins on peace, and comfort.

The cafe is amazing! We got two mugs of tea and two slices of coffee and walnut cake and the total cost was ... £3.60! I was expecting to pay that per person! Extremely good value.

The building is eerie ...who knows what lacks behind those stone walls which have been standing since June 1407...
