A quaint little Norman church that dates back to c. 1230 AD. Unfortunately unable to see inside the church as was locked hence only a 3 star review. Easy to park using the lay-by off the main road.

Beautiful cemetery in lovely area near villages Netley and Hamble and plenty of off road parking near by. Lots of seating areas for the public in cemetery and also country walks close by to Victoria Country Park Netley which can be noted through cemetery.

St Mary’s Church, Hound is the original parish church, dating back to the 13th century. The church was built by the benedictine community at St Andrew’s Priory in Hamble, and is also home to the Hound Parish burial site.
The church is still used for services, including a fortnightly service of holy communion, a series of reflective evening services in the summer months, and a hugely successful annual Christmas Carol concert. The church also hosts occasional concerts.
A group called the Friends of St Mary’s exist to raise funds and awareness for the conservation of this historic church building. The friends organise an open day every June, which is a great day out in the sun and offers an opportunity to engage with local artists, and organisations, as well as taking in the history and natural beauty of the site.
There is a regular service of said communion at 8.00am on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
Upcoming events, services and concerts in St Mary’s will be advertised locally, on this blog, and also on St Mary’s Facebook Page, found here:
