Just happened to be passing Saturday morning & saw a service at noon. Beautiful church, very welcoming and so lovely to be able to take bread & wine after 2 years. Choir was amazing!

Discovered this place by chance. Quite an oasis in a busy area of the city. Cool and tranquil, stone built church.of some age. Look out for lunchtime musical activities, choir or organ recitals, these performances last about an hour and are often free, just make a donation at the end of performance if you wish to.

The church I was married in, way back in '97: going in through those doors means you can put the hustle and bustle of the city aside for a moment of calm, tranquility and quiet. So glad that people work hard to keep it open to the public. A special place indeed.

A quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of York. This medieval church in York's city centre is open every day whether you want to look around, spend some quiet time in prayer or meditation, or attend a service.
St Helen Stonegate is right in the historic city centre of York, on St Helen's Square facing the Guildhall and Mansion House, on the corner of Stonegate leading to the Minster.

Please please don't have the bell ringing at the same time as peaceful protests.. it makes it very hard to hear the speakers. Surely they could be rung at another time?
