Actually came here for a taco bell but wasn't impressed with it.
Some escalators were out of order and it wasn't immediately obvious where places were. I was in a rush so probably the best candidate for a "how well laid out and sign posted is this place" test.
There is a good selection of shops.
M. L.
Good stores and excellent food terrace, bus and train stations next to Eastgate, Live acts and performances nearly every week, Can it get any better!!
A. N.
Typical small town in essex nothing here but trouble looking guys but check out GYM4ALL for a great training and try the best natural alkaline water ARTESI
G. B.
Plenty of shops, very busy place and undercover.
P. M.
A good shopping area many private and national chain stores, banks, many restaurants cafes open areas, lots of parking but not free, except on Sundays and most of these still still open anyway. Escalators and lifts provide access to it's 6 or 7 levels. There's a food court and toilet facilities on the same level. They're not disabled myself, I judge the area to be wheelchair friendly

East gate shopping centre is very good for general shopping. The car park is accessible and easy to use, and fairly cheap.
The shopping centre has several cafes and restaurants and is host to a very large Asda
It's all under cover and has four floors, only two of which have the main shops.
Nice place to visit and you will find all the usual High Street type shops there.
Support your local shops - or lose them!
C. R.
A modern looking, clean shopping mall. It is not so big that you get lost, but big enough to have many of the desirable stores. Parking is easy and reasonably priced. It is very close to the train and bus stations, and has a huge supermarket at one end. The food court has a reasonable selection, so I sometimes invent reasons to "go to town" on a Saturday around midday.
C.
Still can't fault my local shopping centre. Always has the shop I need and at competitive prices I find myself going there weekly to grab a bargain. The seasonal stalls they open is always worth a look round, this year the Christmas stall outside Asda has some good "and if u like personal" Christmas tree decorations!
J. D.
Eastgate is full of different shops that are available to everyone. If you want anything in particular there is a shop with it or you will be told where you will find it and the staff are helpful and there is securty all around that are also helpful the whole building is well lit and and there are seats to rest. The go and enjoy the day there.
K. W.
Thank goodness for the Eastgate centre, the rest of the high street is a little run down and there are too many shops closing down. I think this is the centre of Basildon that where you can have coffee, shop and visit the food court that does have a variety of foods other than Mcdonalds
T. T.
Good variety of shops, prefer it to lakeside as it is not as busy and I find there's a better range of goods here. Not every single shop here is a chain like lakeside so you are able to support local business too. There's also less traffic this side of Essex.
s. B.
All your major high street retailers to many to mention also the food court second level everything from a jacket potato to a restaurant meal every fast food outlet all under one roof very clean and tidy and heated great for when it's cold or raining. fantastic for the disabled sporting lifts and esculators to all levels a visual presence of security to lend a hand and plenty of secure parking
J. N.
Busy, but manageable even so close to Christmas. It is really good for me, because I have problems with mobility and although there are different levels they can be accessed by escalator, lifts or for able bodied people stairs and everything is under one roof from food shopping to clothes shopping.
D. E.
Pretty much a decent shopping centre, with most bases covered in terms of variety of stores. Toilets are usually clean, baby changing facilities are brilliant, and the food court - while generally loud and busy - has a pretty good selection of food.
C.
Decent shopping centre. Parking spots in the multi story are nice and big. But the wait for the lift (unless you go to the top floor) can be a pain if you have a buggy.
Best to get the escalator. With a buggy? Ride it like a skateboard down!
B. J.
Decent selection of shops, restaurants and fast food! Don’t really visit much though but might do as after visiting today I was quite impressed! Very nice place. One downside though, it sometimes in some places not so clean inside and out the shopping centre.
A. D.
Poor signs for parking and lifts marr a good shopping experience. Don't blame parking prices on the council they sold that off decades ago. Go by rail or bus for hassle free day.
P.
I enjoyed being here, and there were some good shops and a relaxing atmosphere. I went into the Vodaphone Shop, Burger King and Starbucks and the staff seemed very friendly in all those places. Upstairs they have a foodcourt which has a McDonald's and Burger King in as well as other well known restaurant, and there are convenient and clean toilets near McDonald's.
The only slight problem for me was that I felt there were a few too many security men wearing yellow jackets, but at least they made me feel safer.
a. m.
Great place to start your shopping trip, with plenty of shop outlets to choose from, on three or four floors, and it is all undercover too. There are toilet facilities and two carparking areas to use, there is also a regular bus service that stops adjacent to the centre.
W. A.
I enjoyed visiting my local shopping centre, only sad to see all the big shops closing down. Do we need to be going to Lakeside, Southend and Chelmsford before we could do shopping?
We need more fascinating shops with good materials, clothes, house hold materials, nice things to come back to Basildon.
This is our own residential city it should be equipped with attractive amenities so we have more shoppers coming to Basildon. We love Basildon. Make it more enjoyable, more enviable, make it a better place for us to stay. God bless you.
A. D.
Still going strong after many years and likely still has everything you need. Lots of shops both inside a d in the precinct. No free parking like other shopping centres but not super expensive either.
J. A.
Sometimes a little too busy. It has a good choice of shops and some little market stalls running through the middle. The car park is indoor and has some electric car spaces, child spaces and ample disabled spaces.
Y. H.
Iconic and probably is the best shopping mail in the UK right now. It's gone through a lot of changes. Back in the early days it was the place to go! Fantastic times there. It's great that it's still standing strong despite the many changes and the dreaded internet. Live forever Eastgate, X
w. r.
Most shops are on the ground and first floor, with a scattered few on the 2nd floor and specialist shops on third floor .
There's easy access to parking on each floor, which uses a pay as you leave system.
With a fairly good range of different shops, people should be able to get most things they want, and what can't be got inside Eastgate may be available to get in Basildon centre outside.
Although having said that there are a few things that are not available in either place or are extremely limited, for example there are no shops specialising in baby or maternity, there are also no shops specialising in pet food and accessories, the nearest to this would be a couple of shelves in either Wilkinson's, or B & M in the outside shops, or in the ASDA supermarket.
You certainly couldn't go hungry in Basildon just about every other shop is a cafe or restaurant or charity shop it could do with some improvements, speaking of which at present there is a lot of work going on to move the stalls on the market to an area just outside Wilkinson's but as these allocated spaces will be a lot more expensive , not as much space and not as prominent, I expect a lot of the present stall holders will unfortunately disappear.
But not bad on the whole I've seen worse, I have also seen much better.
If you think I've helped you with my review click on the like option below. Thanks

Good place to shop has most outlets from clothing to groceries. Plenty of places to eat too which is good when your tired from walking round the whole place. Well kept and clean so plenty to see and do with the family.
G. R.
This shopping centre has everything. It echo's past and welcomes the future. Especially adore the Oriental supermarket at the very top. One of the first in the centre and I imagine one of the last out. To conclude - magic to be found.
C. G.
I bought a meal deal but the saving didnt come off of my bill (it wasnt advertised as a meal deal but I know it used to be one for £15) and it flagged up on their handheld scan and pack device as a £15 meal deal still. Customer services were extremely helpful and honoured the deal for £15 and refunded me the other £8 I was over charged with absolutely no fuss. I was a happy girl :-)
r. a.
Good place to hang out in a weekend for people living in basildon town. Consists of multiple branded stores, restaurants and food court inside shopping mall. Spoons world buffet is one of the best restaurants there.
S. L.
Typical large town shopping centre fair share of small independent shops mostly cafes hairdresser and charity shops then you have the larger chain stores. Nice market place plenty of open spaces to meet up and take in the atmosphere.
C. B.
Great shopping centre. Easy to get to. Large range of shops for all interests. Good superstore at one end and a large clothes shop at the other. Big outdoor shopping square as well. Also a small food court at the top with McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Taco Bell and Nandos.
W. I. m. i. r.
Probably the meh-est shopping centre in Basildon, but it has good quality shops apart from that weird Chinese shop on the third or fourth floor. Asda is fine apart from the new store layout and some over priced understocked shops do get annoying after a while.
L. T.
Rail to London across the road. Bus station. Food court enlivened by Patisserie Valerie and Noodle place. 9 to 5 brill food choices. Time your parking carefully to avoid the steep hike after a certain number of hours. Loses a star due to chaotic pavement area.
A.
Lots of parking, pay before getting in your car to leave. Wide variety of shops. Clean environment. Relaxed atmosphere. Big Asda, Debenhams and Primark, lots of other shops too....HMV, New Look, Next, River Island, Superdrug, Bear Factory plus lots more. Plenty of coffee shops and cafe's. Baby change and baby feeding. Clean toilets.
D. K.
Has pretty much all the different types of shop you need in one convenient location (with more outside if you can't find what you need) plus a decent food court, clean toilets, plenty of parking (free for late visits) and free wifi.
M. D.
Best place around basildon, even though it is small it has most of the well known stores such as primark, new look, h&m, next, boots etc. It is a shame that it closes too early weekdays and weekends. It has an Asda supermarket with a car park and lots more well known stores nearby.
P. C.
Good range of shops , well located parking , reasonably priced. This is a big clean shopping mall , bright and airy with plenty of places to get a drink or something to eat whilst shopping.
J. K.
Eastgate is a great local shopping centre. Has plenty of well known shops with clothes, shoes, food, gifts, holidays etc all under one roof and plenty of eating places too
A. H.
Has many many shops inside and outside the shopping mall. There are shops that are very affordable for a lot of people and very stylish to. There is a parking lot near the shopping mall which is walking distance down the escalator. The food court has Taco Bell, Nandos, Mcdonalds and Dominos Pizza as well as small food courts and cafes plotted around and an all you can eat buffet restaurant outside. Worth the visit to this place to get away from the high end fashion malls like The Oracle and Westfield.
D. D.
Loads of Shops, Some Designer, Some Lower Price Range, Stores for All. Reasonable Price Car Parks..Loads of Good Places to Eat. Clean.. good Presents of Security Staff. Good place to visit.
N. T.
Nice shoping center for the town. You can find all sorts of stuff as you can expect from a shoping center but can say that it seems it needs a little boost. Saw businesess closing, spaces for rent not taken at the time of writing this so there is space for improvement. Time will tell.
M. A.
This shopping mall is great it has everything. Huge selection of big name stores and a decent food court. My only gripe is that parking is not free.
S. S.
Saw Valerie Patisserie was doing cream tea for 2 at £7.95! Just ideal for my sister and i. The service was excellent. The staff were so pleasant and efficient
D. H.
A change its OK somewhere different to go parking payment needed though not expensive lots of shops lots of places to eat they have a food Hall in the mall. Makes a change
D. S.
Easy Disabled access saying that if you have someone who cannot stand do not use asda/walmart parking as wheelchairs with people in are not allowed on escolators and can never find lift attendent. Centre it self nicely layed out but take coats for outside always very windy. Feb17 they are all rebuilding so some places harder to receive.
L. l.
Plenty of shops and eateries. Plenty of car parks but parking charges vary. One apposite sorting office. will charge £1.00 upto an hour whereas at least one of the multi storey car parks is only .60p upto an hour,
S. G.
we live in southend on sea. but we visit the eastgate center every week or so. we enjoy going here as its better than southend. and has greater choice of shops. and a better food court. we offten have brekfast in the eastgate. or one of the many cafes in surounding area. i also like hawkins bazzar. which has a good choice of items
N. K.
This shopping mall is a great asset for people of Basildon and surrounding areas. Its huge and it covers a wide range of shops from clothing to fashion to technology, travel, department stores and more - not to forget the impressive food court. Its got a big multi-story car park but there's also plenty of parking surrounding the mall in the town centre area. Its got onr of the biggest Debenhams stores in the UK, along with other big places like M&S & Primark. Its easy to reach by train as well as its walkable from Basildon C2C station.
S. R.
Good little shopping centre, however there isn't much to choose from. Has a nice little food court ranging from Mc D's, Nandos, Hamiltons fish bar, Taco Bell and Neds Noodles (must try!)
A. H.
Good sized shopping centre with everything from debenhams to primark. Shops inside are fairly big ones, bigger than the high street. The Asda parking is the best priced
T. A.
Confusing layout. Long overdue for face-lift to match the changing face of Basildon. Once inside the mall, it looks fitting for a mall and you can forget how it looks from outside. However, the uppermost level needs to be modernised too.
L. C.
Lovely BIG parking spaces. Makes life a bit easier when shopping with 4 kids. Thank you Eastgate. Great selection of shops.
j. s.
Built in the early eighties with the redevelopment of that part of the town centre.
Bustling with shoppers, busier at wkends.
Fave haunt of local youngsters (Food Court), so can be quite noisy.
Debenhams, Next,Primark and Asda supermarket.
Next
Upper Galleries have some quaint shop's catering from Kung-fu equipment/clothing to oil painting's and designer clothing store (Mission).
Free parking on Sunday's.
J. D.
Great place and everything under one roof. Very easy to find your way round the shops as map and list of shops on every level.
j. h. (.
There's a nice range of shops here, but some of the parts surrounding the shopping centre are quite run down. On the way from the car park to the shopping centre there's a distinctly unpleasant smell...
S. B.
Good for woman with EXTRA LOVELY curves like myself. Here you can shop at YOURS. EVANS ROMAN and NEXT which has extra large sizes. Managed to buy more here than at Lakeside.
i. d.
It's an ok place plenty of selection and a good range of fast food in the middle mostly generic nothing really out of the ordinary great for a what it's designed for but don't expect to find anything unusual
S. M.
Good selection of shops mostly fully wheelchair accessible I’ve been coming here for years and apart from one or two exceptions every one who works here has been friendly and helpful sadly I don’t get here as often as I used to but it always makes fir a good bit of retail therapy
J. T.
Eastgate is good for a day at the shops, especially when it's cold outside; everything you need under one roof and good choice of places to eat.
V. _.
Good amount of stores but just not enough places to eat in. At lunch time on busy days you will be waiting a while to find a seat in the food court.
T. F. (.
Got every shop you could need including a large asda. Ample places for coffee and lunches as well as a food court above.
J. L.
Disappointing I've the years Basildon has taken the turn for the worse. Shops closing down and rent to high to afford. Becoming less and less choice to shop how we used to! Since the pubs all closed down Yates and the Town gate. Bowling alley I just don't feel the same anymore it's separated over to the leisure park. Making people stay away more and slowly becoming a ghost town. Disappointing Baasilldon was defo better late 90s early 00s.
b. l.
The center is clean and you feel secure to be inside. The only disappointment none of the shop propose you free car park if you buy for a minimum amount.
A. W.
All getting a bit tired now and the number of shops that have closed is a bit depressing. Also the parking fees are now silly compared to Lakeside, Bluewater etc. Basildon council need to up their act to compete.
M. H.
Has a large array of different shops so you can be pretty sure you will get all your shopping done in one place, good selection of food outlets too
M. B.
Lots of shops and eateries.....was there around 4pm and very quiet so able to do shopping without any drama! Great
L. A.
All the shops you need easy parking. Lots of shops under cover so nice if weather is bad.
S. L.
Great for all your shopping needs, Asda currently having a refit so a bit manic and not as much stock but reassured it will not take much longer
M. G.
Good shopping centre with load of shops. Nice and tidy. Cheap parking very close only £3 for all day.
S. B.
Good shopping center with everything you need. Tescos, Macdonalds, Great transport links. Toilets could be free but it's London.
R. M.
A great shopping centre, lots of stores and restaurants to choose from and the ASDA Walmart is situated here, ideal for buying in bulk. Lots of carparking available!
s. s.
It is present in town center. It caters all the needs, from banks, asda, wilko, h&m. It hosts other offices and variety of other shop. Nice place to spend time and week end
S. H.
Nice shopping centre. Wide range of shops spread over three floors. Plenty of places to get food and drink and clean toilets.
K. A.

t. d.
I’ve never been to this shopping centre as I live in London so have no idea why there’s a review in my name in here - good work google
T. C.
There are plenty of shops here, there is also a good food court, but best of all they have Taco Bell!
R. W.
Got a few nice shops, parking was restricted to 1 hour free, pay for longer. Bluewater is superior

d. w.
Big parking spaces. Fast food hall with most of the popular food outlets. Clean tolets.lots of visible security personnel.
M. E. C.
Enjoyed some lunch on the Food Court. Also there is a barber and ladies hairdresser near to the Food Court area upstairs; no appointment needed.
J. L.
Good walk and convenient. My girls love cosmetics shopping and Primark. I like coffee and Asda.
B. E.
Little run down, but brilliant shops great choice. Safe and secure car park just a little dirty
D.
Good variety of shops, stores, charity shops and places to eat. Parking is easy with a dedicated disabled car park as well.
J. D.

b. c.
This place has changed quite a lot over the years and has done well to stay up to date, clean, and with a good selection of shops!
R. K.
Eastgate has a good selection of food and stores. Little bit dated but not terrible - has improved in the last few years.
L. W.
Great shopping centre for a town. Lots of well known high street shops all under one roof.
B. D.
Past its best in terms of buildings. Debenhams looked empty compared to our local store and their toilets are badly in need of refurbishment.
B. M.
Many different shops with friendly staff in most, building is always clean and the centre is open 7 days a week
H. B.
Lots of good shops under one roof, clean and tidy. Good food outlets and some top stores 😃
