Not only the shop is incredibly cosy and traditional, but the staff is mindful and kind while the fabrics and products are of outstanding quality. The quality to price ratio is one of its best for men's tweed pants. Bought two of them after more than 10 tryings. The sales person was really patient and took the necessary time for me to feel comfortable with my buying. Good point: they include cuts and fitting operations withing the base price without supplement to make sure your pant fits right. By default the pants are not cut to length on that very purpose :) Would 100% recommend.

UTTERLY DELIGHTFUL. I'm so glad I found this place. I visited for the first time yesterday - I was super stressed as the airline had lost my luggage and I needed emergency outfits for an upcoming party and two business meetings. I was greeted within less than a minute by a highly qualified and attentive consultant called Fiona. She expertly took me through all the different cuts, styles and options for blazers, shirts and trousers and made genuinely excellent recommendations for each. I am very indecisive, so for 30+ minutes, Fiona diligently and attentively helped me get exactly the clothes I needed. The cut and the quality of the clothes I walked out of the shop with are honestly just exquisite. I really have never been more satisfied with a tailor. Thank you, Walker Slater and Fiona.

We came for the first time back in 2017. At this time, we were looking for our wedding suits. We found two beautiful tweed suits and all accessories. The staff was delightful, helpful and they did their best for us to look at our best on the big day. The tailoring service is high quality as well and very efficient. We came back again in 2018. We bought two beautiful winter coats 🧥 that I love. Again fantastic service and a great moment with the staff. Our last visit yesterday was no disappointment. I can’t recommend enough this shop. If you’re in Edinburgh and looking for authentic tweed clothing, skip the touristy shops on the Royal Mile and head to the Walker Slater men’s or women’s shop on Victoria Street. Although slightly more expensive, their selection and quality are top notch and worth the additional cost. The staff was also very attentive and helpful.

The shop itself is very nice- posh-cool. Cool stuff, not the cheapest. This is not your Zara or your H&M. The people who works there is quite nice as well. The only issue, albeit important, is that the return policy is very very strict: no returns, at most an exchange... And even for that you need to give many explanations and they do not make it easy.

After my fiance had spent all day looking at the suit shops in Edinburgh and not being happy with any of them, I managed to get him to try one more. What great luck that it was this one! The suits aren't cheap by any means, but they are absolutely worth every penny. The quality is perfection and the whole experience is very enjoyable. I was wearing a tracksuit (I didn't expect to be suit shopping that day but was called for moral support after he had no luck) and they never once made me feel unwelcome. He said he really felt like he was going to be the man of the hour, and he got a tailored suit that most gents would be very envious of. It's a shop I'd never heard of before but I'm now reccomending to everyone. If you're on the lookout for high quality, make sure you try one here!! I will update with a picture of my man in a suit once our wedding comes around!

I visited this shop for the first time a week ago. I have to say that I don’t wear suits often and I don’t love shopping, so it was a bit of a challenging situation for me. We had the wonderful assistance of Chris, helpful, understanding and honest, not just someone trying to sell you a suit at any cost. He guided me well to pick the right suit, explaining differences between suits and styles. And the most important for me, he made me feel comfortable and not pressured at all. I visited back in 2016 from Bristol. For years I had wished for a Harris Tweed jacket. I found this shop online and saved up for one of the short Victorian riding jackets. The style and quality are amazing. I had the shoulders adjusted when I got back home and even the tailor commented on its quality workmanship. Have worn it every winter since. Absolutely love it!

Popped in to buy a new tweed suit for a wedding. I had basically no idea and no real budget. I was served by Simon who is a cracking bloke with a great attitude; he was incredibly helpful, informative, and very personable. I left very pleased with a great suit that only requires minor alterations (that should only take a few days). Great shop, great service. Will be back.

Bought a suit here today and everything about the experience was great. The staff were helpful and welcoming. I had lots of choice and again the staff were very patient as I tried on a variety of options before settling on one. The trousers were slightly too long so needed altered before I could take the suit home - this alteration was completed within an hour and its now hanging in my wardrobe awaiting its first outing. In search of a three-piece wedding suit for our grand day in October 2017, I came across Walker Slater and ordered a navy tweed suit of the Martin model (Jacket, waistcoat, trousers). I am usually reserved when it comes to buying clothing items online however in the case of Walker Slater, I could not have had a better experience. The communication was excellent and very helpful. I had extra-ordinary help from Ms MacPhail who did not hesitate to contact me with guidance before dispatch to ensure everything was in order. I have never experienced such customer service and attention to detail before and I will never forget how well my matter was handled. My suit arrived in Stockholm, Sweden on time to have some additional adjustments by a local tailor and it came well-packaged, with some information cards and a bag to keep the suit from collecting dust! I would warmly recommend Walker Slater to anyone looking for stellar quality men's fashion with a traditional and classy look. I definitely felt like a gentleman inside and out on our wedding day and will come back for more in the future. Whenever I am next in Edinburgh, I am excited to see what is to be found in the physical store. Until then, all the best and keep up the good work!

Good service. Nice quality tweed clothing - not a cheep option but still quite reasonable pricing. Check out their waistcoat style sleeveless jackets with the small stand up collar. Proper tweed backs on them, none of that horrid polyester stuff.

This place has the friendliest staff, the best service and the most exquisite clothing a gentleman can find. Nothing is too much for them. I kept changing my mind on what I liked but not once did they get fed up of helping me. I went in for just a tweed jacket and came out with a jacket, waistcoat, shirt, tie and handkerchief! They cater for every size (I am skinny and tall) but they had the perfect jacket for me and I didn't need any alterations making to my jacket. The gentlemen there to help you are very professional yet have an excellent sense of humour which makes for a good atmosphere. I was served by a young man who's name I didn't quite catch, but it says on the receipt 'Erik' so I will go for that. He couldn't have helped me enough and wasn't the kind of person who just said everything looked good on me. He said when things didn't suit me but always had a suggestion to back it up. I love this place and will be back again soon for more things! Keep up the good work lads!

Great place near to the grassmarket. I was having a suit made for me to wear for the Graduation that happens twice a year at St Andrews University. The gentleman who took care of me was Joe, from start to finish he was very professional and obviously new exactly what he was doing. Ive been back 2 times in all to have minor adjustments done the third time was to pick the suit up. Overall a fantastic place to have a suit made or to shop off the peg. They also sell other items like waistcoats, jumpers, sweaters ties etc.

Whenever I travel to Edin - Walker Skater is my primary destination - First of all its on epic Victoria Street in Hay Market, and entering the shop Is a dreamy emotional experience , with no pushy sales people to spoil the visit, just charming ones !.
