The service at Hellewell Menswear is impeccable. Sue in particular was extremely helpful and did everything she could to ensure we bought the right products. They also go above and beyond. We were able to take two shirt options to try with my partner’s wedding suit, and only had to pay for one! We were then allowed to return the shirt the next day. We’ll definitely be returning to shop here again - for the service alone, but the quality of the products is also amazing

The service at Hellewell – and Clarke in particular – is exceptional. Over the years I have had several compliments on my suits. I now work in London but always return to Preston to see Clarke for all my suits. He gives honest advice about how clothes look and fit. I value Clarke’s experience and I trust his opinion. I am an unusual shape and Eugene, the extremely experienced in-house tailor at Hellewell has sometimes made major alterations (at no extra cost) to make sure the fit is spot-on. As a young adult who needed suits for my first office job, I didn’t think that Hellewell was my sort of shop – I associated it with the older generation. But my father, who buys his clothes from Hellewell, insisted that we go and see Clarke. I’m glad we did.

Fantastic service and clothing. As a first time buyer at this store I was very impressed with Bens knowledge and attention to detail. Bought an off the peg suit which was then altered to fit me perfectly. Also bought shirt, tie, braces and pocket square - not my original intention but with this level of service I thought I may as well get a complete package. Everyone loves my choices and credit to Ben for making even me look good. You pay for this level of service and clothing, of course, but, hey ho, I’ll feel confident when I walk my niece into down the aisle. And that means everything. Thank you Ben

Went in for a new suit. Clarke pulled one straight off the rail and it fit perfectly. He also chose a shirt and tie that matched perfectly. He also went on to explain which shoes to wear and even showed different shirt combinations for different occasions. Superb from start to finish. We went to a 'big name' retailer who told us 16 weeks was not enough notice for 3 wedding suits and sent us away. Our next stop was Hellewell's. We dealt with Ben who immediately took away the stress caused by the first place and assured us we could get sorted. He was right. I cannot recommend Hellewells in Preston highly enough. My husband and I visited today and we were looked after superbly by Clark. His expertise meant we came away with the perfect suit for our daughters wedding in March. He absolutely knew which suit was best suited to him and we are delighted!!! Thank you...we will be back. We had visited two other suit retailers in the town an hour before who did not compare!

Me and my Fiance popped in for a suit for my cousins wedding after having a negative experience in Slaters just up the road. First impressions of the place were amazing! The aroma was like a classy 1950s gentleman's dressing room, (like men's aftershave and antique wood) and, fittingly, the staff were also perfect gents. We had our first fitting with Clarke who knew exactly what my Fiance was after and managed to make him comfortable and at ease (not an easy task when trying on suits). We picked the perfect suit in a gorgeous blue check fabric and Clarke promptly ordered it in for us. It took two days to come in and we were then contacted to come and try it on to check the fit. Ben helped us out this time and he was just as helpful and made us feel completely at home in the beautiful old building. After a few alterations here and there, a new pair of braces and a new pair of socks my Fiance was kitted out with the most gorgeous, elegant suit he has ever owned (and still somehow one of the most affordable). Every guest at the wedding mentioned how wonderfully it fit, how lovely the extra elements were (such as the leather braces) and how comfortable he looked in it. I could not recommend Hellewell Menswear highly enough! We will be coming back next year to get a suit for our wedding and I am honestly a little jealous that I will be wearing a dress and won't get to feel as special and sassy as the staff at Hellewell seem to make people feel.

Can’t recommend this place enough. My partner and I came in here looking for a blazer but with a very tight budget. Since we were clearly quite young and sticking to the sale rail, I really didn’t expect the staff to give us much help due to past experiences at similar shops. However I couldn’t have been more wrong! They came over to check the fit, tell us about the brand, the cotton that was used to make the blazer and how best to clean it. They went above and beyond with customer service and it really made our day. Thank you!

Popped into Hellewells Menswear on Lune Street, Preston.Looking for a suit I went upstairs.Was met by Clarke, a very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman who patiently suggested a few suits.Unlike other similar outfitters Clarke was quick to understand my requirements. Clark was brilliant helping my husband find a suit for an upcoming wedding. Most options in Preston are Moss Bros and Next but they mostly have slim fit suits and not many tailored options readily available to try on. Clark gave my husband suits to try on and explained why certain fits didn’t work for his size and shape. We ended up finding the perfect suit which was a green tweed which we never would have considered and then we were offered options of accessories based on the event. We were given the pleasure of Clarks time, knowledge and experience and now my husband will look so handsome for the wedding and be able to wear the suit again for other occasions. Overall 10/10 so happy with the service and will recommend to others.

I left buying a suit to the last minute as I do not enjoy buying clothes, however I was surprisingly pleased with the service from all staff members who went above and beyond to provide me with an excellent service and a suit that was both comfortable and affordable. If you guys get around to reading this review, the suit was everything I was hoping for, including the bamboo socks! 5/5 will be returning in the future!

Best menswear shop in the North West and I doubt there are many better independent menswear stores in the whole of the U.K. The choice/quality of products is superb but it’s the customer service which is truly exceptional, never pushy but very knowledgeable and always honest advice. To say we had been struggling to find the perfect suit for my husband would be an understatement, but when we walked into Hellewells we were met with the best range of suits and an outstanding service. Clarke obviously knew his stuff and had my husband sized up in no time. With his attention to detail, helpfulness and personal service he made what would usually be a chore into a fantastic shopping trip. The quality of the clothes are fantastic but the prices are very competitive too.
