I come here regularly, often to do some work alongside a coffee (or three!) and I can honestly say I LOVE this place. There is a great vibe here, aided in no small part by the jazz and blues music playing through the speakers. The proprietors have clearly gone all-out with the decor, too - as you enter, your eyes are drawn towards the art deco mural of the Statue of Liberty on the back wall; on the side walls there are photographs of New York City through various eras. The coffee is excellent, and if, like me, you can't drink milk, there are lots of dairy alternatives available. They serve a wide choice of both coffee and tea, which is always beautifully served. Food-wise, I have only had the soup of the day, but that is delicious, and very filling, too (they don't skimp on the portions, unlike some places). The blueberry and almond cake is also to die for. I know it sounds like I am gushing - I am, because I love this place and want it to do amazingly well! It is far and away the best cafe in the south of Birmingham - definitely visit if you're in the area.

Saw this place across the road while walking towards Greggs for my breakfast. I am so glad I chekced the menu out. They have plenty healthy options. Super quality food, great customer service and perfect way to represent your food, A*. One of the best coffees I have ever tasted too. Absolutely outstanding. I have been visiting this cafe for several years. The atmosphere is great and having lived in NYC myself I can say the staff have really managed to capture the vibe of Manhattan in far away Cotteridge. The food is tasty and the menu offers variety from the usual local options. The staff are always friendly especially to my 5 yo daughter who has joined my visits over the years. She can now recognise jazz music thanks to Manhattan 70’s!

A lovely place for brunch, a real gem. Great service and the food is delicious as well as being wonderfully presented. Obviously run by someone who takes great pride in their work and has impeccable attention to detail. Will be back!!

The place looks lovely inside and the food is great. I had the vegan breakfast which was simply the best vegan breakfast I have ever had! Then the carrot cake which was fantastic. Coffee is good too. Highly recommended.

The venue is great...theres a really good choice on the menu. I ordered 1 thing and got another !!! (I was dealing with a problem on my phone so didnt realise) and was hungry. Also their prices aren't very well located, so £15 + later for a (not a) scrambled egg/avocado/salmon on sour bread and an oat latte was quite a price tag.

Decaf coffee was nice and hot. I ordered a toasted tea cake, but was given a toasted hot cross bun. It had jam on it which I didn't ask for, I had to send it back as it was cold in the middle. I may just go back for the coffee if I visit this place again.

I enjoyed my first visit so much that I took some friends back the following Saturday for brunch. They've created a quirky, yet comfortable atmosphere reminiscent of the exceptional café culture in Australia. Cheese toasted into the sourdough with my breakfast is untradional but delicious! My one criticism would be that in my first visit I ordered a latte, expecting a modern coffee shop to serve it barista style (slightly foamier than flat white). But it came in the old fashioned tall glass with far to much milk, rather than the 6 - 8oz cup most coffee lovers would recognise today. A touch of latte art would have brightened my day too.

It's very beautiful here, the decor is hipster and lovely, just the only issue would be that it's fairly expensive for the area. If you have the money to spend, then it's probably worth spending it here! (P.s. the chai tea is excellent!)

I went there again yesterday and me and my friend enjoyed an interesting conversation with the lady behind the till while waiting for the coffee. The place has such a peaceful vibe and we stayed for more than we planned just because we felt so good by the coffee, the food and the loving service we received. Stepping off a busy shopping street into Manhattan 70s you enter a fabulous space. Cosy bare-bulbed lighting tinting terracotta brickwork, stylish photography on the walls and the coffee bar displaying a variety of generously-sized cakes that sort of draw you to the counter (!). Add the soothing piano jazz and you feel the stresses of life lifting off you. The seating is comfy and the tables are substantial, with excellent leg room. The menus for both drinks and food are varied and extensive. The serving sizes of both are very generous and represent good value for money. The coffee is rich, the coolers are dazzlingly refreshing and the flavours in the food make your taste buds work overtime - in a very good way. Personal favourites are the Hot Bistro, the chai latte (with real spices hand-ground in a pestle and mortar, no less!) and the cinnamon bun. Add the friendly, attentive staff and you have a very strong case for making a return visit.

I live in London and happened to see this place on my way to visit my parents. I took the time over the Christmas period to carry on with my exercise regime and walk. I remembered I’d seen this place so I thought I would walk the 2.5 miles and check it out. I was not disappointed. Beautiful fresh ingredients, great choice and as healthy or as naughty as you want to be. Really reasonable prices. Wish I could pick it up and take it with me. Please pay it a visit. Welcoming staff and great service, catering for all dietary requirements. I will definitely be returning.

I love this cafe! The atmosphere is so chilled. There's always jazz music playing in the background and the food is delicious. It's a bit expensive especially for cotteridge but they never make you feel like you have to leave so if you stay a while, it's worth it. I recommend this cafe very highly.

This place does lovely coffee and cake. The cafe itself is really well done out and the people are lovely. The one thing that lets it down is the food. I had a breakfast and unfortunately it wasn’t very nice. All seemed to be very cheap ingredients which is disappointing when you have a butchers opposite. Greasy streaky bacon (had to leave it), toast was hardly done and what tasted like cheap frozen sausages. Menu is a bit confusing, seems like everything is a take on pizza but put in a sandwich of some sort. They need to simplify, go sample the breakfast in Pit Stop, which in my opinion is better and cheaper. See what the other cafes are doing. Offer something different like avocado and feta or egg on toast. There is a fruit and veg shop opposite. They could use the fresh local produce and just buy what they need. If they sorted that out they’d have the best cafe around here.

A pleasant little coffee shop in a small town. Good service with table service and a pleasant atmosphere. Quite busy today with a small party of ladies gathered for a friends birthday and a mother and son and others, despite this it was still enjoyable without being overcrowded.

I had the most delicious take-away lunch today from Manhattan 70s today! We pre-ordered two toasties (the Hero - divine!) and coffees via WhatsApp, and everything was perfect. I was really impressed by how safe the whole experience felt. I was in and out in about two minutes, everyone was wearing masks, and there were hand sanitizer stations at the entrance and counter. The food was beautifully presented with garnishes, dips, etc. and the staff were so friendly. I honestly couldn't recommend this café more highly! Thanks so much for a great experience.

This is a fantastic coffee shop in the middle of Cotteridge high street, the staff are warm and friendly and the coffee is perfect. I love the decor, the exposed brick, atmospheric pictures and hanging bicyle help create atmospheric urban ambience. This is just what an up and coming area needed.Top marks.
