Reviews of Bom-Bane's

Beautiful and quiet place. Had a lovely experience there. Especially the singing part. We had a little meal there and it was just it, also the drinks where really good. Loved the "quirky/magic" moment where our table went up. The owners were super nice, we even had a little talk. Overall best place :)) 11/10

I was treated to the best evening at Bom-Bane's and will definitely be back! The atmosphere is relaxed and homely. The food is absolutely delicious and Jane herself is just the best entertainer! This is a very special one off and it's such a great experience to go there.

Bom-Bane's is a unique eating out experience in a Kemptown. With a lot of little gadgets around the tables and lovely artistic performances, it is a place you will talk to your friends about. Food is also divine 🥰

Was there yesterday to see Nick Pynn performing as part of Brighton Fringe. What a wonderful place Bom-Bane's is. Very intimate and cosy. Jane Bom-Bane was there, working her socks off, creating a really delicious meal for anyone requesting it before Nick's performance. 5 stars for the atmosphere and food and another 5 for the friendly service. Thank you Jane. If I didn't live so far away, I'd eat in your cafe more regularly x

Slightly off the main road - but well worth it! It was a happy accident that we landed here. Expecting just an evening of Belgium food - we ended up being pleasantly surprised. Upon entering, you quickly realize you’ve stepped into the proprietor, Jane’s, humble abode. This is indeed her house and you are her guest. The food was filling, unique, and homely (Who ever thought of putting cherries into meatballs!)
But the food is only the surface delight. For if you come to Jane’s, be prepared to be entertained by her songs, stories, and her love of keeping the guests surprised throughout the meal.
Those who venture up the road to Bom-Bane’s will definitely have a story to share with their friends.
Thank you Jane for making our first night of our vacation such a memorable one.

A truly wonderful evening in a fantastically unique restaurant run by the most unassuming but wonderfully talented Jane. Not haute cuisine, but beautifully cooked food served with care and love. Be prepared to make new interesting friends, listen to stories, and you will enjoy the experience immeasurably. I look forward to returning soon. Thank you for our evening, and long may you continue Jane. Mark & Sara

My sisters took me here for my birthday, it was truly magical, the food was good and Jane is the best, it was like being in her home, one of the best birthday treats ever and different to anything else. You have to experience the lovely atmosphere and quirky stuff that goes on.

My first visit with friends who have been Baned before! Charming hosts brilliant service, WONDERFUL music and home made food ON HOT PLATES!!!! A charming Christmas experience.

An absolutely delightful experience, one that I just can't imagine existing anywhere but Brighton. I won't post pictures as I feel they'd be spoilers; but expect a lovely cosy meal with some completely idiosyncratic entertainment and a general spirit of warmth and wonder. Go in open-minded and you'll have an excellent time. It's also ridiculously affordable for an evening of food and entertainment.

Absolutely magical, whimsical and entertaining dinner experience! Came for my post-wedding hen do and Jane and her team looked after us so well. Would definitely come back and would advise to prebook!

First a winter pie, veggie, vegan or meat. Shaped like a bird with beady eye! Cosy comfort food, would be even better if the vegan pie had more protein, small quibble though and lovely pastry... Delicious range of drinks. Followed by an utterly charming and socially distant festive performance with beautiful puppetry and original songs. Only three groups at three separate tables (2 couples and one family group). Felt a wee bit nervous about droplets in the air when the family group were chortling and talking over each other but they were only facing themselves. Everyone wore masks to pop to the loo. Lovely atmosphere, lovely evening.

This is the best restaurant ever, so cozy and lovely! Jane is so friendly that she introduced the history of the place, we really enjoyed the song as well. The food is delicious, and the price is very good. People who love art, music and life, or you want to meet someone who are very positive and energetic, go to this place! You will be surprised! It is really nice to meet you, Jane!

One of our favourite Brighton nights out, great food, beers, hosting and entertainment by Jane and her team. Don't miss on your visit, it'll be the first of many 🌈🎭😋

The best experience in Brighton by far. Jane is a rare breed of culinary and artistic talent that I hope continues for a long time.

Fabulous unique hidden gem in Brighton is Bom-Bane's.
A whole different experience great atmosphere created by Jane. Food ,wine ambience it has the lot .

Amazing, cutting edge, international, caring! You really feel at home, cherished and look after as a customer. It is not just a restaurant, it is a bistrot, a tea room, an indipendent theatre venue. The best Brighton restaurant I have ever been to

If you're feeling intrigued by Bom-Bane's, stop reading reviews RIGHT NOW and just BOOK IT. Absolutely magical, especially when you're not entirely sure what to expect. Delicious, cozy, and heartwarming. Could maybe only exist in the magic little streets of Brighton.

A wonderful discovery in one of Brighton's off-the-beaten-track bohemian neighbourhoods. A fun concept and made even more special by Jane's genuine welcoming enthusiasm and by the wonderful inventions dotted around her shop. Nothing is quite what is seems!

Such an authentic experience. Popped in without a booking, just for a coffee. When asking to see a one of her hats we read about, Jane came up with an incredible performance just for us. It was so much joy, warmth and inspiration I found in her presence and her stories. I'm coming from Romania visiting some friends in Sussex for 10 years now and we were all filled with joy. Thank you, Jane!

This is the definition of hidden gem, possibly of quirky, too. Jane Bom-Bane is clearly utterly dedicated to entertaining guests with food, drink and great entertainment. The place is snug and I hope you will happily rub along with other guests. I really look forward to visiting again, possibly when Jane herself entertains (she has an impressive collection of mechanical hats). It is very small so booking is essential to ensure you get a table (and that it doesn't move around - wait and see: it's hilarious)

I love this place so much! Jane is so lovely and makes everyone feel welcome and special. Keep an eye on the website for special events where Jane matches the food to the theme. There's a theatre downstairs.
On film n food night you can have a hearty meal and watch an independent film for a bargain with a nice interval treat!

Owner was more than accommodating, found us a table eventhough we had not booked. Food was awesome and atmosphere was great. Very quirky and unusual inside, even singed a song for us. Would definitely go again.
A. S.
We had a meal and the entertainment was included in the cost. This consisted of a series of songs about the history of the house in George Street, describing it's inhabitants over the years. I enjoyed it very much. It was totally original and very entertaining. We were there in December so we ended by singing along with some Christmas carols and songs.
P. S.
Amazingly quirky place, delicious food, fabulous service and an all round wonderful evening. We were also lucky enough to be entertained after our meal (down in the basement) by a couple of young musicians playing guitar and singing their own style of blues.. And They were brilliant! Thank you Jane.. All the Best! 👍😀

What a fantastic, unique and special restaurant, nothing approaches Bom-Bane's for the ambience, the detail, and the sense of warmth and celebration. Be taken care of by the best. We were a birthday party of 5, easily diverted by the details of the room and uselessly wondering if the name of the table meant that it really did turn. By itself. Of course it did! Have never before wondered about the names of the other tables in any restaurant. You are greeted with open arms and the staff, including the name sake, take very good care of you for the evening

This is a truely unique place to eat. We booked a table of 4 very last minute but they accommodated us beautifully. The menu is small but perfectly formed, just like the venue. Live music in the basement is a great way to finish of a meal to remember.
K. L.
Oh my goodness, what a find! My first time there and such a lovely experience. Food was fabulous, as a vegan I didn't miss out at all. Went for a friend's birthday but will definitely be going again just for myself. Need to hear more of the singing. Bravo!
Y. G.
Great home cooked and hearty meal accompanied by decor and the lively atmosphere. And Jane recites poetry ans sings songs. What an amazing experience.
T. M.
I couldn't recommend it more. An incredible restaurant with great food, atmosphere and entertainment.
M. G.
This place is lovely. Atmospheric, entertaining (there's a table upstairs that seems to move up and down by itself) and fun.
There are themed nights too where you eat a tasty meal and watch a show for surprisingly little money.
We've also watched films here too. It's all lovely, recommended if you're looking for a low key, warm welcome.
I. C.
I am shocked by this place! It is definitely the BEST in Brighton. I am speechless. Jane is a number 1!
Everyone can only learn from her.

Very enjoyable evening spent in this fabulous restuarant, where the host, Jayne, entertained us with songs and poems, and delicious food. What more could you want.

This was a truly wonderful experience. The food was top quality but what really makes it is Jane's warmth. The entertainment was an added bonus. The prices are also very reasonable. Can't recommend it enough and will definitely be back again soon.
L. C.
Unique, convivial, entertaining, delicious, wonderful
R. M.
Top place. Mechanical novelties and musically talented owner/staff.
G. W.
Fascinating eclectic collection of funky and weird art and objets. Downstairs is a bit tight for space and difficult access if less than able bodied. I do love this place, and I think if you like a little eccentricity and fun you will enjoy your time there.
H. B.
Such an unusual place - so much creativity has gone into every detail, the food and wine were delicious and the entertainment made it extra special
R. D.
Amazing food with plenty of homemade vegan dishes. Cozy, funcy, relaxed environment in both restaurant and downstairs performance space. Really cool owner and original entertainment.
A. J.
I was delighted to see that Bom-Bane's has retained all its' avant garde character and charm in 2019. Whilst novelties come and go in Brighton, Jane's enduring passion for providing fabulous food and thought-provoking entertainment (film showings and exceptional live music), still warms the cockles within this quirky venue. Plus, best hot chocolate EVER! ❤️ 🎶

Bom-Bane's is a little Aladdin's Cave of surprises, downstairs is a funky little room which hosts film and musical evenings. It is like stepping in to Jane's living room, she is the best host and she serves lovely food. We were luck enough to be entertained by musician Jane on her harmonia. There were party poppers and birthday waffles which all contributed to a fab evening, plus the music was great. Bom-Banes is the perfect little place for any celebration and everyone is made to feel very welcome !
R. B.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. We went on a performance night at Christmas and felt magically transported by the strange, interesting and touching world that I imagine only Bom_Banes can offer. Absolutely unique experience thoroughly recommend.

Once again, utterly superb, The food and the atmosphere are magical and as always Jane was the star of the show. Fantastic evening, can't recommend this gem enough. 😁😁

Excellent restaurant, highly recommended! The owner Jane's love of life is reflected in all corners of the restaurant, movable tables, narrative paintings, interesting trinkets, and of course, delicious food! The boss's original music is also very nice!
