Really tasty breakfast, coffee was lovely too.
Staff are friendly and it was a very efficient service

Fantastic little spot. Egg & Spoon is always buzzing every time I go in there. I have physio in Kemptown and I always pop in to get a coffee/bite to eat after I finish my session. The coffee is lovely (even the decaf, which is a must for me, and is rare to find great decaf in my opinion). Incredible kedgeree and also amazing cakes - the other day I had a ginger crunch (I think it was called that) and found out that it was one of the chef’s grandma’s recipe, which was lovely 🥰 the staff are always friendly and welcoming and it’s so nice to see local people coming in again and again. Support small businesses!!! This one is a gem ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My friend and I stayed at snooze and as no breakfast facilities anymore at their b n b have a deal where we get 10% off at this wonderful place! The staff are amazing especially Tiggy made us so welcome we ate in their for lunch the fish finger sandwich delicous we loved the atmosphere had a fab vibe what you expect when you go somewhere like Brighton did not disappoint! We went for breakfast twice could not fault it great food fab staff fab atmosphere this beautiful cafe made our stay very Special. BiG thank you from Chrissy with Blue hair and Jo without thr blue hair 😄🙂👍👍👍

We went in here today for brunch about 11am with 5 friends, the food was excellent, the onion jam I would love to know how to make at home! The hot chocolate was also really nice. To add to it, the atmosphere and staff were lovely, and they display art from local artists. If i was local, I would be a regular here! Sorry only grabbed the one picture of Eggs Royale, but my sausage and bacon roll was really nice, and our friends had the DIY breakfast that looked amazing!
My only criticism is it's a little expensive, the food and atmosphere kinda justifies the price but it is a little much, the DIY breakfast is £5 for egg and toast and then you add everything else on. My bacon and sausage roll was £5 as well. It is miles better than Greggs for sure though!

Really nice fresh food. Feels upmarket but not expensive! Would reccomend the Tarka daal and fish finger sandwich. I wanted to try the breakfast sandwiches but we were 1 minute late and couldn't order!

Went for breakfast before pride. Had the big full breakfast which was delicious (although not as keen on the beans) which good portion size and value for money. Service was excellent and extremely friendly despite it being really busy. Best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Still lemonade was also really good.
Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic café, breakfast, lunch, brunch or afternoon tea spot. Delicious food and very friendly team. Lots of tables for 2 or 3 people, and a larger table for groups or families. High chairs available. Has a toilet for customers (downstairs). Dogs were welcome. Great variety of drinks, cakes and treats.

Light and airy. Friendly and very popular.
Terrific tasty food. Vegan and vegetarian
options. Great coffee, tea, and delicious
cakes. Easy access. Downstairs toilet.

Our favourite breakfast spot in the whole of Brighton. Located on Kemptown's very pretty high Street and open early, egg and spoon really is a gem. This is not a greasy spoon. For very reasonable prices you get high quality breakfast dishes. They taste amazing and have had a lot of care and attention which is really refreshing for a breakfast venue where execution can sometimes be sloppy. My wife's poached egg was cooked perfectly. The sausages had a hint of rosemary and were delicious. Come and try it!

A bit on the pricey range and food does take a while to make it to your table. Although saying that the food is clearly made with care and the portion is nice without being overwhelming. Also a great place to relax if you're doing a hospital visit.
L. P.
Egg & spoon is a fab place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. We went in for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed the salt beef hash. Amazing and definitely worth a visit.
F. M.
Sweet and homey place. Gluten free accommodating, even encouraged me to customize my meal with what I wanted. Friendly staff with perhaps too small of a kitchen to accommodate the amount of seating available. Good place to go if you’re having a leisurely morning, not in a rush.
J. L.
Delicious breakfast and really friendly people serving. The eggs benedict was amazing! 🤤
C. C.
Thoroughly recommend this cafe! The dhal was almost as good as my nans! Appreciate a staff member approaching us as we looked at the menu outside, otherwise, we probably would have continued wandering. Will happily be back :)
K. S.
Recommended this cafe from staying at Brighton Inn Boutique.. Well did we didn't expect it to be as amazing at it was.. I had full breakfast and definitely filled me up to dinner time.. very friendly place, decent price..
G. H.
Great place for breakfast/brunch and a coffee. Very popular on a Sunday morning! Staff friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend it.
T. M.
A cheery place but underwhelmed by the food. £18 for a couple of very ordinary bacon sandwiches ( served in a sweet cheap burger type bun) and coffee seems a bit steep. But it's Kemptown!
R. B.
Small but querky. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere for the size. The coffee was perfect. I had the eggs royale which was delicious, cooked to perfection and looked amazing. 100% shall be returning.
M. T.
Fantastic cafe with good coffee, delicious food, lovely staff, and a great selection of cookbooks to browse and purchase. My idea of heaven.
B. T.
Love this liitle place.
Always nice staff and lovely breakfasts.
S. T.
Delicious breakfast. Halloumi bap with roasted tomatoes the best ever sandwich. Coffee mug plentiful size and service friendly. See you tomorrow egg and spoon !
J. B.
I loved our visit this weekend! The salt beef hash was a triumph, perfect fuel for a busy day. Great coffee, great service, nice relaxed surroundings, very clean. The staff weren't overly friendly and the 3 behind the counter all ignored our hearty "thanks byee!" on the way out which was a bit sad but they'd been great otherwise and I can't fault the food and the cafe itself. Thanks, byeee!
S. B.
Very friendly, great breakfast brunch range. A nice relaxing space to meet and eat
H. H.
Had a delicious vegan breakfast. Great service and very reasonable prices. Will be back!
J. E.
Nice stop for tea and bacon roll, whilst waiting for my car at Grant's garage.
P. S.
100% recommended! Went with a group of 4 and we are pleased. Three of us had breakfasts which were very flavorful & fresh and another had a sandwich which was also really good. The beans were made in house ! The milkshakes the two of us got were the best we ever had. Can't wait to go back. Great location and staff as well.
P. K.
Its Sunday morning, beautiful autumn ahead and what you need is coffee to start your day. "Egg and spoon" is on my doorstep , vibrant place with a great owner and staff who worked hard over the lock-down to keep a spirit on Kemptown village up. Always a great place to grab a coffee and vegan muffin after early morning swim in the sea. Thank you very much to Fran and staff for being here for us. Keep doing a great job with a smile on the face and morning chats.
E. k.
Amazing breakfast! Had the egg and bacon roll and it was delicious. The bacon was just right. Thin, crispy and not too fatty! The egg was not overcooked and the bun was fresh. Highly recommend this place.
M. J.
so nice! I always get the mac and cheese and sometimes cake, and they’re great portions each time. £5.50 for mac and cheese to takeaway isn’t a huge amount more than a posh takeaway but 10x better and homemade!
P. N.
Lovely people , great menu. Lots of locals seemed very comfortable and content in the place . Did not eat any food , just had tea so will rate that in future. From what I saw from other tables , the breakfasts looked pretty good . And the menu seemed to offer quite varied . I will be returning there for an actual breakfast in future . 🙂
N. D.
Fabulous place. Great food first class service. Lovely staff/owners, not sure . Earl Grey cake, off-the-scale gorgeous. Clean, quick, happy place. As the big man says. "I'll be back" 👍
I. G.
Even on a Sunday while busy, your order comes promptly and the food is perfectly made.
I was very impressed with the home made baked beans and everything had great flavour, being from good quality sources and prepared expertly.
There are plenty of options without being overwhelming and they make superb coffee.
Highly recommended.
W. T. P.
Excellent, indeed the best ever tahk dhal; mediocre falafal wrap. They make you wait for your takeaway but at least provide a nice little bench in these lockdown days.
L. H.
Lovely little cafe with really friendly, kind staff. Food and drink was delicious and it felt very relaxed and chilled. We did it at the end of a (very) wet and miserable walk, and they were super at letting us in as bedraggled and disgusting as we were!
A. S.
Wonderful little cafe that serves the best breakfast baps; healthy and delicious. Also does great coffee and has a variety of home cooked meals to takeaway. Highly recommend.
H. P. (. P.
Laid back setting, comfortable, friendly staff, excellent full, veg and vegan menus. I had the vegan breakfast, with really tasty panisse (chickpea pea) fritters, large portions, good coffee.
N. P.
I love this place!
Kemp Town has long been well serviced by coffee shops, patisseries and the like, but nothing of any real calibre when it comes to a quality breakfast/brunch/lunch so Egg and Spoon is a very, very welcome addition to my neighbourhood. The food is excellent (think avocado and chilli flakes on rye with a poached egg, or a first rate kedgeree), service always welcoming and there are some innovative little touches on the bar - a 2ft long sausage roll ordered by the inch or a lunchtime beach hamper complete with rug and ice blocks - brilliant.
S.
Such a cute little cafe off the beaten track in Brighton. Lovely, friendly service - very accommodating for food intolerances too. Food was delicious and really nice selection of juices! Very reasonably priced!
A. M.
Went there for breakfast with my friend, because our usual place is closed on Wednesdays. You order and pay at the till and once ready food is served tour table. I have ordered two waffles with a slightly different toppings than on the menu, which was fine with the cashier, but i got waffles from the menu. Human error, i didnt say anything because i did not want to wait another 15 mins for new waffles. Portions are very large. My friend really liked her veggie breakfast and waffles were good as well. The only thing i didnt like about the cafe was the chairs. Very uncomfortable. Prices are reasonable.
J. S.
Exactly what I hoped to find in my local cafe (I've just moved into the area). Relaxed, friendly place, serving good honest food and drinks, with a great selection of different tastes to choose from. I guess the best review is to say I'll go back, which I definitely will.
P. F.
Oh my goodness! Best Eggs Benedict ever. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere great presentation. Where else!
R. M.
Attractive environment, lovely atmosphere, very buzzy; polite and efficient service. Only one caveat - a recent breakfast was served rather tepid for both diners. Could this be because the uncovered dishes have to travel quite a distance from the downstairs kitchen to the table?
S. C.
Such a great cafe to relax and chill. Superb menu with a good range of choice. Can recommend the full breakfast. Lovely cakes too. Staff couldn't be more helpful and welcoming.
a. p.
We had a lovely brunch at egg & spoon. Food was delicious and the service was good - prompt and friendly. Thanks for the tip on Cuckmere Haven, it was beautiful.
V.
Love this place, great food and friendly staff
L. G.
I take lunch here when Compass Point is shut.
Not an especially nice environment to eat it in; too open and spartan, food is OK however, but nothing to rave about. Service is generally good. So, I can't fault the place, but it does not rise above average.
c. f.
Good food and wonderful smoothies.
O. A.
Been there 5 times or more, and every single time the food was absolutely perfect. They make a very good flat white. The best place to have a Sunday brunch!
L. D.
Went here for breakfast ,28th of September.had 2 waffles with banana and maple syrup,a very generous serving as I couldn't finish it I think one would have been ample.only one criticism they offer nhs staff a discount but only on takeaway.i think it should apply to eating in as well.
G. P.
Lovely service and delicious food
R. S.
Lovely coffee and breakfast place. Good food and the people working there always with a smile and friendly!
N. D.
Very friendly staff, wonderful choice of breakfasts, we opted for the porridge which was very nice. Will definitely visit again.
S. A.
Massive thanks to the Egg & Spoon team for putting on a simply incredible BBQ on Brighton beach for us yesterday. The theme was Asian cuisine (of course!), and both Ben and Fran blew the entire Selective Asia team away with a spread of inventive Thai and Vietnamese dishes (and the odd chilli!). Thanks to you both for putting on such a memorable day that even the Brighton wind couldn't put a stop to!
T. D.
Great little cafe in Kemptown. Decent toasted sandwich selection for lunch / brunch and a very tasty breakfast. Only downside, it gets busy at weekends and no outside space. Apart from that, it's great.
C. B.
Takeout- bacon and egg soft bap just now. Thick meaty Bacon was cooked perfectly and the whole bap tasted unreal. Well done Egg and Spoon. Lady with the poorly baby 🥚🥄❤️
M. W.
Really nice cafe with relaxed interior. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Cool artwork on the walls. Fresh produce and homemade cakes. Great for morning coffee and breakfast
C. K.
What a lovely place. Great food, friendly, smiley staff - happy to accommodate all - husband's with long legs and doggies a plenty (including a Burmese Mountain dog called Moby ❤️).
J. P.
Good choice of vegetarian breakfast options in this relaxed & spacious cafe. Good coffee and prompt & friendly service. Gets busier in the winter months & closes at 3pm.
T. F.
Had a nice sandwich here recently. Coffee was okay as well. I preferred it when it was the Kemp Town Deli. Their eggs Benedict was phenomenal...
D. W.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and very good food and coffee. Most artfully presented english breakfast I've ever seen. Delicious too!
E. M.
Love this place! A nice selection of vegan/vegetarian and non-veeggie food, delicious coffee and wonderful service!!!

Very exciting cafe with tasty lunch options. Feeling very comfortable when visiting on my own or with colleagues. Attentive staff and fast service. Weekend food options can be limited.
M. -.
Really, really nice place. I had breakfast in the early morning and the atmosphere was great: nice early morning music, smiling staff, quie
tness. Food was also great, still remember that breakfast!
R. J.
Great food, great coffee and tea, staff are always lovely and the atmosphere is nice. Big bonus for me is they allow dogs!
C. H.
It's a nice cozy place. Loses 1 star for not having fruity sauce. Or knowledge of its existence. Funny with the red and brown though, I liked that. 😅
O. G.
Good breakfast and not too expensive.
B. D.
Nice. With nice staff. And nicer food.
But the homemade baked beans...
...no. Just no.
(They cost you a star!)
D. Z.
The food was okay, staff was friendly but the restaurant is not too cosy.
N. W.
Couldn't ask for more from a cafe. Great food, service and atmosphere, which is why they've won awards (I gave them one last year)!
F. S.
Food was delicious and healthy ...home made baked beans were fabulous.
Only issue was the toilet facilities...not the best !
S. D.
