Reviews of Butler's Tea Room

Great little restaurant/cafe.
Lots on the menu hot and cold foods. Toilets available and disabled toilets to and mother and baby.
In door and outdoor eating.
Friendly helpful happy staff.
I highly recommend this place.
W. G.
Very nice place and surrounding , it was very busy following parkrun. The breakfast was nice but the black pudding was maybe a little too gamie for my taste, it all got scoffed though.
Pot of T for me whilst the good lady had coffee. Good service hot food
J. B.
Delicious food and drink. Definitely recommend however toilets need cleaning and supplies
J. D.
Very nice previous visit was during lockdown.
The food was really top class and very tasty. We shared a nice pot of tea, proper china, obviously a pre-warmed pot. Brewed just right. Friendly helpful staff good mobility toilet. Very clean.
R. H.
Superb lunch menue. Four of us had different things lasagna, veg curry, kiech and Yorkshire pud. Two desserts all finished with clean plates. Six hot drinks total price under £60 total. Will definitely go back. The house is well worth a visit, excellent front of house gentleman who gave us a great deal of information. Be aware car park is pay and display and traffic wardens do visit, saw them today.
M. B.
Lovely cafe in beautiful surroundings. Seating inside and outside. Very good selection including vegetarian options. Good quality and good value. Ticks all the boxes!
R. B.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices.
I had the bbq sausage toastie, that was amazing.
My little girl enjoyed a ham and cheese sandwich, which looked awesome, she really enjoyed that.
My friend had jacket potato and cheese, which was really good value due to the size of the portion.
Excellent value on the drinks aswell
A. L.
Just stopped by for tea and cake. Although the do have quite an extensive menu. Inside and outside seating with dog area. Staff polite and friendly and tea room clean and tidy. Cake and tea excellent.

Absolute massive shout out to these guys .
Stumbled upon this place today during a Christmas day morning walk .
Didn't realise they were having a family gathering amd tried to buy coffee.
Although they were closed we were given hot coffee and warm mince pies.
Thankyou really nice touch on a Christmas morning .
Enjoy your Christmas guys

Wheelchair accessible entrance and seating. Friendly helpful staff.
Small cafe with cobbles and flagstone floors. Unable to reserve tables so if unable to go upstairs to the upstairs seating area, I would avoid peak times, if sunny plenty of seating outside. Plus, if you have a dog or dogs they are welcome in the outside undercover room.
They serve breakfast from 10am to 12 noon, also snacks and cake. There is also a specials menu and normal for menu served from 12 noon till 7pm.
Reasonably priced homemade food.

Decent place, quite busy when I visited but my order was taken and food came out in good time. Food was nice enough and wouldn’t mind returning some day for some cake or dessert. Only negative is that it is a little expensive but that is to be expected when it is at the location at Cusworth as it is.

Lovely cup of tea and toast, after parkrun in beautiful surroundings. Staff were so friendly in cafe. Menu looked good, wished we could of stayed for lunch 😋
N. P.
Took my daughter for afternoon tea here today and it was lovely. Vintage China, tiny cakes and sandwiches, lovely setting, friendly staff. A lovely afternoon and highly recommended. Well done Butler's staff!
V. P.
Every time I’ve been here the experience hasn’t been the best. The queue is always so long and the staff food wait has been long (last time I went (last Saturday) the girl who served me was really nice and efficient so not her!).
The food itself is pretty over priced for what it is and I don’t think I’ll be having food next time. Is a shame because the gardens are so nice to have a walk around and to bring the dogs.
V. I.
Lovely setting within country park and stately home at Cusworth. Had 2 milkshakes a cookie and a slice of brownie at £10+. Cakes clearly shop brought then £3 for a milkshake that came from Aldi! Definitely not value for money!
R. T.
Great food. Note that if you want the afternoon tea then you need to book in advance. They have all home made cakes and quiches etc.
R. C.
Just off the A1 so a nice alternative to the services. Car park is for Cusworth Hall & is pay & display £1.50 for an hour. Lovely food at the cafe & friendly & quick service for a Sunday lunchtime. Very good selection of gluten free cakes & gluten free bread was available for toasties. Separate very pleasant "dog room" for those with canine friends, complete with water bowls & plenty of seating outside. Very pleasant aspect overlooking Doncaster & a lake with good dog walks around the park.

This is a favourite place for a pitstop during our regular doggie walking expeditions! The food is excellent - I particularly love the Salad Niçoise - as it's all freshly prepared and provides a terrific snack lunch. Pleasant, helpful staff too. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
Yet another visit this morning for an excellent Butler's breakfast for me (with extra sausages for me to share with the doggies!)...and her favourite Welsh rarebit for my lovely wife. Food is unfailingly brilliant and we love our walkies at this beautiful place.
S.
Really enjoyed our visit, I had the Mediterranean salad and my girlfriend had Prawn salad, food was excellent and service was good too, would recommend.
T. S.
Lovely spot of lunch
Reasonably priced
Friendly staff
We will be back
K.
The most delicious homemade cakes, and a lovely family feel to the place. Very welcoming and beautiful outdoor area to enjoy on a sunny day.
m. j.
Had a Mexican breakfast it was beautiful.
Not something I'd pick all the time honestly great food
D. D.
Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the owners love dogs and there is both an indoor and outdoor area you can sit with your pooch.
Menu choice is good and food is presented well and of a good standard.
It is a popular place so occasionally you end up sitting where the tables slope a bit if outside when the rest are taken, but all in all a nice little cafe.
D. B.
Always pleasant staff, good coffee choice and lovely looking cakes and buns etc. very popular with dog walkers so can be a bit yappy
M. C.
Good food, good location and good service.
J. B.
Always fresh good food and lovely staff
M. G.
Very busy as we had sunshine today instead of the usual rain. Got there early enough to get a table for lunch. Have been several times and always enjoy it. Pleasant staff, lovely surroundings, good food. 👍
W. B.
Excellent food and service. Very good social distancing and in beautiful surroundings
S. L. (. L.
After a stroll around the lake at Cusworth Park, my hubby, youngest daughter, our dog and I called at Butler's Tea Rooms. We ordered hot chocolates (with all the extras), plus chocolate cookies and dog treats for our pooch, then sat outside at a table under the gazebo. The staff are very friendly and chatty. The hot chocolate and cookies just the ticket, and our dog loved his treats. There is a good selection of beverages and food on offer. Seating is available inside too, and the atmosphere is very quaint. It wasn't particularly busy, as we went mid week, but weekends can be quite busy.
(Just be aware the carpark ticket machines are now cash-less, so you'll need a credit or debit card to pay for your parking ticket)
Cusworth Park is an ideal place to spend an hour or so walking around the lake/grounds, and then finish off at Butler's.
Highly recommendable.
M.
Growing up in Cusworth this has always been a favorite of mine. Excellent selection of savoury food, drinks and cakes!
Generous portions too which is always a winner for me
B. T.
Excellent lunch..Bistro menu only available for evenings and must be 'booked' prior to visit..
L. C.
Had a lovely walk with our dog around the grounds and lake and then sat in the 'Dog House.' It was really cosy with pretty string lights and was so inviting particularly as it was raining so heavily. As the name would suggest, dogs are welcome in this part and they are well catered for with bowls of water dotted around. Had a hot cup of tea and a tasty sausage roll - all really good.
4.
very friendly professional/family atmosphere . . great decor and seating inside . . large spacious areas outside with views . . good walks round the grounds too . . lovely foods and deserts, hot and cold . . ive tried most haha . . good selection of hot and cold drinks too and a range of alcoholic beverages for a summer lazy chill
F. H.
Lovely cafe with a brilliant selection of drinks and food. They also have an abundance of cakes and warm puddings! Can't fault it
l. M.
Lovely visit, it's a family run business and every member of staff was friendly. The older man gave scones to little one so he could feed the ducks. Afternoon tea was great even the sandwich that partner had was nice and fresh. Will be back again was here for mother in laws birthday.
J.
Great place for a rest after walking around cusworth. Lots of homemade cakes and a good variety of food. As a lovely annex for people with dogs and also has a marquee outside for people to sit.
G. H.
Always terrific but even better today when my rather fussy eater mother ate all her dinner and a pudding too. It made my day and mum’s too. She loved the tea cup pie - we just hid the fact it had a pinch of pepper! She said it tasted fantastic. Miracles do happen. She’s told everyone about her dinner - especially the eve’s pudding. Thank you for a lovely afternoon - staff are lovely - ignore the people who say otherwise! Kind and helpful. 😄
A. C.
The service the food brilliant
R. A.
The tea rooms have a nice ambience and decor. There is plenty of outside seating with good views of Cusworth Hall gardens. The menu is traditional with some very odd pricing. For example beans on toast costs £4, but then a large plowman's only costs £6.25. The filter coffee is great as is the hot chocolate. My biggest gripe is that the cakes are all cut with the same knife causing contamination between the different products.
(Edited to add reply) My comparison is that the beans on toast seems quite expensive in comparison to the the ploughman's which is a bargain at the £6.95. (I didn't recall the price correctly)
H. G.
A bit crowded inside with tables jam packed in a small space, but sitting outside is lovely on a sunny day. Lovely cakes and I enjoyed a very nice salad for lunch. Afternoon teas looked very nice, will try it next visit.
D. C.
15 minutes wait to be served. Long wait for food.
L. M.
A hidden gem. Good food, great location ( a couple of miles off the A1(M)). Simple, home cooked high quality food in an historic stable block. Make sure you pay for the parking though, I got a £50 ticket. My fault, no excuse.
F. B.
I love this tea room! It's in a lovely old building next to the main house. Loads of vegan and vegetarian options too which is different from when I last visited. It's especially worth going because you get in the house for free and the walk is fab too.
A. W.
Lovely good and surroundings. Very busy on a Bank Holiday.
P. D.
great place. both inside and outside seating. Enjoyed Good coffee and cakes.
R. R.
Lovely tea rooms and has dog friendly areas inside and out. I take my puppy up to Cusworth for a walk and we always pop into Butlers for a hit chocolate and a scone. I have been also for lunch and to the bistro at night. Food is gorgeous, staff are lovely and helpful, they always help me with my team while I hands my hands full with the puppy! Can't beat the place!
T. C.
Came into today and had the best bacon and tomato sandwich! Toasted breadcake and crispy bacon done to a T! My Husband had sausage and egg sandwich and said it was spot on! We will be returning soon! Very friendly staff too.
S. H.
A little gem of a place. Intimate. Original. Great food and lovely staff. Coupled with the new craft brewery pub, it makes for a wonderful evening out. All within walking distance of Scawsby.
C. S.
Really nice food and friendly staff would definitely recommend a visit it's a life saver after the walk up the hill
D. F.
This tea room sits with in the grounds of Cusworth Hall which is just our side Doncaster. It's a great place to take the kids or dogs as you can also take them in a special room with in the tea rooms them selves ( the dogs I mean not your kids?😀) The tea rooms have a great atmosphere the food is delicious especially the cakes and they have a good selection of teas and coffees. The staff are always friendly and the pricing I'd very reasonable. I highly recommend a visit here.
J. K.
It was a special event and was extremely busy. Food was lovely, staff were abrupt and rude, tables were not being cleared and dirty we had to wipe our own with a baby wipe. Just not adequately staffed. Would visit again but at a quieter time.
R. J.
We are locals of this area and often go in for tea and cakes. On this occasion, we thought we would try the breakfast. It was a special occasion and the food was disappointing. We received black pudding on our breakfast of which was not specified on the menu (we don't like this so did not expect it). The quality of the sausages was poor and for the cost per breakfast, Bramwells brown sauce was just not satisfactory. Where is HP for that price? It is not a cheap breakfast compared to some similar places and for the price you pay, most certainly is not worth it. You cannot substitute items either. I don't think I would be returning for breakfast anytime soon
S.
Lovely place for a tea room. Enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back to try some of the yummy sounding food
S. M.
Good service, food and coffee was very nice. Definitely worth a visit if your looking for a snack and coffee
K. B.
I haven't been here for a while because of covid restrictions, one of my favourite tea rooms, delicious food, lovely surroundings, excellent service, will be back again soon
C. H.
Took my mum to butlers tea room for afternoon tea today, the staff are very friendly and pop over regular to top up the tea pot. The food was absolutely beautiful. Will definitely visit again in the future
N. W.
Gorgeous food and great value for money although we did have to wait around 40 minutes for ham and cheese toasties, think we were forgotten to be honest. Girls were very friendly who were serving. 👍😊
S. H.
It is a great location, however this impacts on it being very busy and it's quite tightly packed in. There is outdoor seating and when we went, both were at capacity, which then ended up with orders having quite a delay. The menu and food was good but edging on the expensive side for where and what it was.
J. J.
Lovely tea room with really delicious treats we had our first mince pie of the season and it was scrummy! This was our first visit to Cusworth Hall and we will definitely return - next time for lunch!
M. B.
Lovely licensed cafe/restaurant in the beautiful grounds of cusworth hall. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Recommended.
M. L.
Fabulous food for very reasonable prices. It was well worth waiting for. What a little hidden gem
m. m.
Great scenery to enjoy your food/drinks .staff are friendly and the prices aren't extortionate like you might expect. I visit quite often and standards never slip.highly recommend
s. a.
service was a bit slow but they were young 🤣
T. S.
The food was gorgeous and the staff were really helpful. I went with a friend and our three dogs. A member of staff even brought us some water for the dogs. Well worth a visit.
R. D.
Had 3 vegan options. Would be nice to add a vegan sandwich choice. Lovely staff. Dog friendly and beautiful views of the gardens. Will definitely go again 😋
S. L.
I love this tea room and have been coming for years, always had excellent service excellent food, however today we had to sit upstairs, which is a bit of a challenge for me. My scone was a little dry so to save me the effort of going up and down the stairs I asked a passing member of staff if I could have some jam. No problem but could I go downstairs and order it? Oh it doesn't matter i said as the stairs are a bit of a challenge for me. So there we have it this member of staff couldn't be arsed to bring me the jam and collect the extra payment. I hope she remembers this if ever she suffers from arthritis and sciatica in her later years. Enjoy the ability to run up and down those stairs as you are doing whilst I'm writing this comment, as old age creeps up on you sooner than you think. We will still visit this tea room but perhaps will not sit upstairs.
C. F.
Quaint tearooms! The staff are very accomodating, the menu has lots of cakes and light bites. I believe that you can book afternoon teas that look heavenly! It's always busy but with such serene surroundings, it's not a surprise. They have a facebook page so you can keep upto date on the seasonal menu and changes. You can also sit outside with your dogs.
A. U.
Very nice, busy but once served the food came quickly. Very fresh and tasty 👍
C. 3.
Pulled pork sandwich was amazing and have Fanta lemon would definitely recommend
K. W.
Beautiful scenery, great for kids too
H. M.
What a gem.....the nicest afternoon tea I've had and I've had a few. Lovely fresh sandwiches, scones and mini cakes - 2 of everything so no fighting for the brownie. It was a real treat will definatly be back.
C. G. M.
It's open again hooraa. One way system and perspex in place. Staff wearing masks and plenty of room made available to move around. Well done to the owners and staff for bringing back bacon butties and refreshments etc. to Cusworth Park.
R. s.
Great food and service.
P. B.
Beautiful little spot for refreshment after climbing up that big hill. Both food & drink are lovely.
A. H.
Amazing place with beautiful scenery of cusworth Park. Based at top of the hill for great food and staff. Its A must visit!!
G. W. (.
Nice place. Good coffee and cake at the end of a walk around Cusworth Hall ground
C. B.
Lovely homemade soup and warm crusty bread. In beautiful Cusworth hall and gardens. Staff could be friendlier.
B. T.
Setting is lovely, food is reasonable, tea is good, coffee is very poor! The lack of a good coffee means I wouldn't be likely to make a special visit. Needs a good coffee group machine to produce good latte's etc. to make this a really great place to visit.
I. S.
Very nice, but, if you are serving lukewarm coffee to be drunk outside it would be better to have the milk warmed up too. That way the coffee wouldn't be too cool before the first sip.
M. N.
Good inside but outside you run the risk of being sniffed at by dogs on long leads or not on leads at all. What does it take to convince stupid dog owners that not everybody likes dogs and that some smaller kids can be scared of them?
M. R.
Went into dog friendly part which has to be best idea ever. Lovely staff, so accomodating. Definitely go again!!
D. W.
Great place to call in when out for a walk and even better when the weather is good enough to sit outside. The food is always nice and fresh can highly recommended the pulled pork sandwich.
K. F.
Good food. Excellent service. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. What more could you want.
A. W.
Nice variety of well prepared sandwiches and hot meal options, plus lovely selection of cakes. Good Covid-19 precautions in place
B. G.
This is a nice place to meet friends and have something to eat or just to have a cuppa and a chat with friend's, They even have a room called the Dog House where dog owners can sit when it's cold and wet, away from other people who don't want dogs near them sadly anyone can use this place is they have dogs or not
R. H.

Food is excellent and reasonably priced.
J. W.
Lovely cosy tea rooms. Outside seating for warm summer days. Excellent food.
C. W.
They have two outside areas and two indoor areas, one being for dog and their owners, there seemed to be a lot of staff but only one behind the counter which meant there was a long wait to get served, the food was well worth the wait.
J. W.

If you have visited Cusworth hall and gardens you must visit Butlers tea rooms for refreshments , lunch or you can book one of their afternoon teas which are lovely.Good selection of hot and cold food in beautiful surroundings .Staff friendly well worth a visit.

(Translated) Great place with outside and inside seats. Very rich and vegetarian-friendly and vegan-friendly menu. A large selection of coffees. The only problem is the limited number of places. Always lots of guests. Always nice and efficient service. Great atmosphere inside in the old style. I recommend.

Świetne miejsce z miejscami na zewnątrz i w środku. Bardzo bogate i przyjazne wegetarianom i weganom menu. Duży wybór kaw. Jedyny problem stanowi ograniczona ilość miejsc. Zawsze wielu gości. Zawsze miła i sprawna obsługa. Świetny klimat wewnątrz w starym stylu. Polecam.
