I came here based on the reviews. And I ordered a vegan all day breakfast and oat tea. Both were delicious! First time trying vegan haggis and it was good, also the homemade sausages were tasty. I recommend all to visit! Also the owner (I’m presuming) was very welcoming!

This was our very first stop on our arrival to Scotland and it certainly did not disappoint!! As a vegan I was checking out places to have local food but veganized and this was absolutely incredible. The vegan blood pudding and haggis was absolutely amazing and the woman who ran the shop was so kind in answering all of our questions and also had great recommendations. Very very much recommend!

Been going here for a year or so now. The best breakfast roll I’ve ever had. All the sausages are homemade, the eggs are fried to perfection and the rolls are soft and fresh. 10/10

Such lovely staff! The girls working here are always very kind :) I’ve been here a few times for breakfast rolls - prices are reasonable and they taste great. They seem to cater very well to veggie, vegan and gluten free diets too. Recommend! A lot of brunch places are extremely pricey and fancy, especially in Edinburgh, but this is a relaxed, no-frills type of place. I prefer that and it equates to lower costs for quality food and nice service :)

Epic vegan breakfast food every time!! My favourite place to stop for food when I'm in Edinburgh. They even sell their homemade vegan haggis, Lorne, sausages etc so you can make a tasty vegan Scottish breakfast if you live hundreds of miles away like me!

We got a vegan all day breakfast and it was absolutely perfect. Great range of drinks and breakfast options and everything on the plate was extremely tasty. The lack of oiliness was really appreciated too making what would usually be a fatty dish pretty healthy all things considered! Had the all day vegan breakfast and it was delicious, potato scone was very nice and the haggis was so tasty! Sadly they were out of the gluten free vegan breakfast for my wife but they kindly put together an alternative which she says was excellent. Amazing vegan food! We ate in the cafe a few times in September on a trip to Edinburgh and everything we tried was great, and the staff were super friendly. I loved the vegan haggis. We've ordered the vegan mini box online this month and it's really good value. Everything in the box was fantastic - the quality is amazing, it's nicer than similar products that you find in the supermarket. We'll definitely order online again and highly recommend the cafe too.

Found this place on Happy Cow, as we're visiting from Southampton. Ordered a vegan full English breakfast and could not believe how tasty it was! Cleaned the plate almost immediately and had to go back for a vegan sausage roll; also very tasty! The staff were very friendly and the prices were reasonable. I went here twice on a weeklong trip to Edinburgh in 2019 and it's to date possibly my favorite place for vegan food. Friendly staff, quick service and delicious food make this place a great pit-stop inbetween the current Edinburgh fringe shows. 4 stars because of the slightly cramped space and less than desireable seats, but the food more than makes up for it. Loved this place. It seems to do a lot of take out, with only a small breakfast bar and a raised table to eat in, but we had a mug of tea which really brought us both to life and a veggie and vegan breakfast, both of which were whole, hearty and just the right fuel before climbing Arthur's Seat! Loads of veggie and vegan options and also gluten free we noticed, along with many staple Scottish breakfast choices.

Absolutely worth the short walk from the Royal Mile! BBL have so many options for both vegans and non-vegans, and both meals that I had there were SO GOOD. It's so nice to have so many vegan options, and be able to have a meal with non-vegan friends where everyone is catered for. Thank you!

Had a lovely vegetarian Scottish breakfast here! The place was very quiet for a Saturday morning maybe because it is out of the way of the typical tourist spots. The personnel is adorable. They let me taste their freshly made vegetarian haggis which was absolutely delicious. The prices are reasonable and the service is quick. Would definitely come back. By the way, I would recommend this place to fuel up for a hike to Arthur's seat. This side of the park seems less crowded with tourists therefore making it a more pleasant climb up, but be warned the climb is a bit more challenging with lots of stairs.

Delicious triple-stacked breakfast roll, with vegan versions of black pudding, haggis and square sausage, doused in brown sauce. What a selection of vegan meats on the deli counter! I was spoiled for choice, but settled on some BBQ flavour hot dogs to take away, and look forward to trying them.

I picked up a couple of veggie breakfasts the other day as a takeaway and was pleased to find the food was so well packaged it was still nice and hot when I got back to my hotel not to mention delicious! No nonsense business and does what it says that it does. We go on Friday's to get a roll. Very friendly staff. I understand they have a close association with a butcher and make their own bacon and sausage meat. Well, it does shows, as their sausages are particularly tasty! Not too expensive and certainly worth a visit.

Our favourite go to deli takeaway when out and about. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Nothing is too much, even when the "special" request comes from a fussy 5 year old who also has a dairy allergy. Food is always fresh and the homemade sausages are to die for (according to hubby). The vegan breakfast ( with the add on smoothie) has to be one of the best in Edinburgh.

People are always saying where can I go for a nice traditional breakfast in Edinburgh - this is the place. Had breakfast here with my partner and brother this morning. I heard about this place from a friend who was raving about their home made sausages. He was right they are great. We each had the all day breakfast which included two slices of bacon, three sausages, beans, fried egg, black pudding, potato bread and a roll. For 4.25 that is a great deal so close to the city centre. You can eat outside at one of the tables on the pavement and if you turn up before 11 you can have the sun on your face and enjoy a nice view of Authers Seat across the road. The staff are very pleasant and its a friendly but not intrusive atmosphere. A great place to have breakfast and considering the ingredients are home made its excellent value for money. The only issue is the lack of a washroom or toilet. This won't bother people only picking up a take away but might be an issue for those with small children hoping to eat in.

I stumbled across this cafe after a twitter post from a friend who blogs on lunches. My senses picked up two words: black pudding and home made sausages. A friendly twitter hello, a little more snooping and I was sold on their all day breakfast. It's a bane of mine that many places in Edinburgh rip the breakfast cloth away from you and begin serving lunch at 12. My body clock doesn't get going for breakfast until lunch so I'm always delighted to find a new brunch place. I went along with a couple of friends and we ordered 3 breakfasts. Now i'm just a tiny thing, but the boys are huge and I was a little disappointed at the breakfast size. Served up all looking delicious and I have to say small! Bearing in mind it was priced at less than £5 and all home made, i didn't feel cheated. Naturally, for me, it was a case of eyes bigger than belly and I off loaded most of mine to my friends. The sausages are out of this word, aww man i'm dreaming of them. I wasn't sold on the black pudding, but then I am notorious fussy there, definitely better than most places i've had it. I'll be making another visit, drawn by the opening timings, location and food! The burgers looked amaze!

BBL is something of a god send to the vegan community, especially for those fringe goers who are looking for a hearty start to their days of comedy and culture with hearty, delitious food that not only sets you up for the day, but also has you slightly wishing each day would hurry and end so the wait to go back there was shorter! Friendly staff, food prices and stones throw away fromsevereal fringe venues, BBL is a highlight in its own right and definitely worthy of their reputation. I only wish they'd open a branch in Bath!

The place is very small, the truth is that we did not have a problem with the place, but there are four chairs in the establishment (plus the terrace outside). Yes it is true that we went at 09.00 (on a Friday), which I don't know if it is the time at which they eat what we ate, but to find a place the best. The coffee was huge, but it wasn't very rich. The food quality price (seen the prices of the city), is very good. Very friendly waitresses. (Original) Fuimos a comer un desayuno escocés típico y lo que comimos estuvo muy bien (lo podéis ver en la foto), había más opciones de desayuno (incluido la opción vegana), pero la camarera nos recomendó este. El sitio es muy pequeño, la verdad que nosotros no tuvimos problema con el sitio, pero en el establecimiento hay cuatro sillas (más la terraza de fuera). Sí es cierto que fuimos a las 09.00 (de un viernes), que no sé si es la hora a la que comen lo que nosotros comimos, pero para encontrar sitio la mejor. El café era enorme, pero no estaba muy rico. La comida calidad precio (visto los precios de la ciudad), está muy bien. Las camareras muy amables.
