Reviews of Deacon's House Cafe

The heritage of this place dates back to 1422 for their kitchen ceiling and other decorations of Brodie, if I remember the year correctly, are impressive, but I think this pace does not reach my F&B standards and thus three stars.
The door gentleman responsible for assigning the seats showed surprise when he confirmed I was a solo traveller. I am not pleased by that, for what is wrong with travelling alone? He only noticed me waiting outside as they requested after his colleague reminded him. Unpleasant starting experience followed by that he asked me to switch tables by claiming there was another group of people waiting outdoor. I did not see the group coming in, but I followed his second table arrangements.
The waiter did not set my table probably. No big deal for that. But his hands touched the top of salt and pepper…. The latte art and the coffee itself are lovely. The food presentation is not bad.

I had some very nice porridge and green tea this morning. The staff were very friendly and let me in 5 minutes early because it was snowing. I think I'll return here again. This place seems to be popular and tables filled up within 30 minutes of it opening...so go early.

Incredibly cozy little place, with an absolutely delicious scone with jam and cream. Accommodating staff helping us get exactly what we wanted well past reasonable time to fix our orders.

Deacon's House Cafe is welcoming and proved a lovely spot to pause for a cuppa while sightseeing on the Royal Mile. Seating is available in the courtyard as well as inside the cafe. Artwork around the walls of the cafe conveys the life story of Deacon Brodie, a cabinetmaker and thief.

Nice historic location, service was ok, came in for hot drinks on a bitterly cold day. Pot of tea, plenty of milk supplied too, had a fruit scone to share. Scone was homemade style and tasted very nice. Prices were slightly high but not bad. Overall, it was an okay place; I'd go again if nearby but wouldn't go out of my way for a visit.

Ate the most delicious soup and toasted bagel. Great for a lunch stop and very friendly staff!

The best breakfast we've had in Scotland and London. The scrambled eggs are somehow more delicious than normal scrambled eggs, the toast is great, my son said the bacon is the best he's had in the UK, and all of the scones are yummy. The black coffee and mocha are both really good, too. Great ambiance, a cute place to dine either inside or outside.

Wonderful coffee shop. Cozy, welcoming and steeped in history. Everything Deacons offers is superior to anything a chain coffee shop offers. Deacons cocoa will not disappoint! Rich cocoa and delicious whisky will warm your cockles on even the coldest day especially with a freshly baked shortbread.

Visited here with my partner for a wee lunch in the middle of birthday shenanigans in town! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, tasty ciabattas, soup great addition as a side for £3, hearty and a lot of flavour!! The person welcoming us at the door complimented our colourful winter hats, haha very memorable. Excited to try the scones next time, definitely worth a visit. Good price for the yummy food!

Good coffee and lovely, traditional environment.
Thought the staff were great.
One man before us was extremely rude to the girl seating people and she dealt with it extremely well!
