Reviews of eteaket Tea Room

Was okay. Rather yummy even. Perhaps even delicious at some points. However I really hate plastic table cloths and sadly this establishment had plastic table cloths- with gaudy snowflakes on no less. Staff was nice. Tea was good. Price is okay, but I think there is a lack of pizzazz.

If you like tea, don't miss this place! Perfect place for tea lovers and they have sweets as well. The first impression wasn't good: we arrived there 45 mins before closing time, it was raining and one staff member was putting the tables from outside inside. We asked him if we could sit down inside for a tea and he said they were closing. I felt a bit disappointed as It was almost an hour before the closing time. And we were left standing there on the rain, we were wondering where to go, and then one girl came out saying they were closing in 45 minutes and if that was ok with us, we could sit down. I'm so happy she checked with us, cause we only wanted a tea, and she was super lovely, helpful, recommended tea and what to buy in the store they have. Tea was great, really long tea menu!! And we also tried the scones and really liked them. She was so nice and we liked the tea so much we went to the concept store before leaving Edinburgh. Such a shame about the first staff member we interacted with, if we had walked away as soon as he refused serving us, we would have missed this.

Had a craving for a scone with clotted cream and jam while on holiday. This place served to a high standard. I was so tempted that we ordered the high tea. Very speedy service. Provided a timer to know when to stop steeping the loose leaf tea. The only slight issue (mostly a personal concern) is how close the next table was to us. We were there around 3pm so wouldn't necessarily have thought this was an exceptionally busy time... Although, I'm sure this place is very popular, so perhaps my own naiveté. I would definitely come again!

A friend introduced us to this place and honestly we would recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh. A great little tea shop in the heart of the city with fantastic food and selection of teas.
This was absolutely brilliant and we will go again whenever we next visit Edinburgh.
E. H.
Staff were amazing. Ordered gluten free and vegan high teas, which tasted amazing. They didn’t have some items included in the vegan high tea but staff were super helpful in getting alternatives and making sure we got our full meal.
The tea cocktails were lovely too!
Will definitely be going back, I can’t recommend enough
D. L.
Lovely tea room. We had a hearty lunch. The soup was delicious. Wide range of teas. Great service and some nostalgic background music as well. Highly recommend visiting here.
A. A.
Exceptional afternoon tea experience. Very friendly and welcoming staff although the shop is busy. Very delicious scone and good quality tea.
S. M.
Nice afternoon tea experience. There are some outdoor tables in afternoon sun, which was fantastic. Interesting choices for the top tier (flapjack?), but the tea selection is absolutely spectacular and it's good value for money. Had a wonderful time with great service.
C. R.
Delicious food and extensive tea collection. Was a great option to join friends for a boozy afternoon tea. Hummus sandwich was 👌
A. S.
Excellent service and good food although I think the selection has shrunk in recent times which is a shame. Would be good if the menu could be expanded a bit. Surprisingly quiet when we went in on a weekday but it has been busier at other times.
P. R.
Lovely friendly tea room popular with the locals and tourists. Place to go for a tea pilgrimage (they are tea leaf specialists) as the selection is large (black tea, green tea, oolong, white tea, rooibos, fruit and herbal teas, flowering teas, tea lattes) and they also do tea cocktails / afternoon tea.
We went for lunch and had the Pulled Pork Burger & BBQ Sauce and the Halloumi & Courgette Burger with Sweet Chilli Sauce. Delicious!
Loved the Big Red Rooibos tea and Isle Of Harris Gin Teas.
T. M.
We went twice to this place for some tea and scones during our four day stay in Edinburgh. We really loved the atmosphere and the staff was super nice and friendly. I myself prefer herbal teas and was happy to see that they had a big selection of herbal teas as well. Also, the prices are more than fair.

Very lovely cafe. I didn't want to leave!
e. a.
Amazing place, really nice atmosphere! The food was great, they offered a wide variety of teas. Even the bathroom had something special!
E. A. G.
Came here for breakfast and we weren't disappointed! Lovely servers and a fabulous selection of breakfast food and teas made this an ideal experience we'll look to replicate on our next trip to Edinburgh.
R. W.
First visit to my favourite tearoom since before covid. It is still as friendly and inviting as always. If you haven't been here yet look it up and give urself a treat. Treat urself to a special tea and a delicious cake. Wonderful experience.
A. A.
Cozy traditional tea room with simple food menu and nice tea, I tried peach tea. The only minus is that's place is old and needs renovations. But overall I would recommend to come, also u should try the scones, they were looking so delicious even though I didn't have a chance to try. Ordered lunch with soup of the day (lentil ) and half sandwich (salmon, cucumber ) all was good and nice. Thanks!
PS we have got the timer to control the time for tea to be really, so cool!
ก. ส.
What a lovely place with great selection of unique blend! Great service, cozy atmosphere. Value for money! Try - Tomatin Whisky Tea and Isle of Harris Gin Tea.
k. m.
We're visiting Edinburgh popped in to grab a takeaway coffee & tea. Beautiful tea room & the staff were very friendly & made us feel very welcome. A large range of different tea's and the cakes looked divine. Highly recommend. Thankyou for making us feel welcome.
C. “. T.
Absolutely lovely, cosy, little tea room! A must for any fan of tea! The menu for tea is absolutely massive and you can choose from such a large selection! I can guaranTEA you that you’ll find the right tea for you!
They often have a ‘special’ seasonal tea as well which is definitely worth a try!
As well as hot drinks, you are also able to get cold drinks: chai tea etc
The food is also amazing!
You can get a soup and sandwich combo which is cheap!
My friend and I each chose the high tea set which comes with a sandwich of your choice (i recommend getting different sandwiches each so you can have half and half) on locally baked bread, a scone with clotted cream and jam and several funky little cakes for after!
They also serve a wide variety of cakes (some of which are vegetarian and gluten friendly).
And the price is relatively cheap!
One thing I will mention, don’t leave it too late in the day if you want the high tea set as the first time my friend and I visited, they had run out of scones and we weren’t able to get the set!
A.
Will definitely return - the tea and shortbreads were amazing! The staff were also very polite, great experience :)
S. F.
Nice chill place with a variety of teas. Their scones were very tasty. They also have savory dishes.
F. M.
Excellent tea and they had cake and scones that were gluten and dairy free, very happy customer 😀
E. F.
Had a really nice lunch here yesterday. Thought it would be overly busy for a Saturday but we were able to get a table without a reservation which was great. Best part was the tea that changed colour!! Lots of great gluten free options too. Made the mistake of not speaking loud enough when asking for gluten free bread and I realised it when the food came that there was a mix up, but the servers were really nice about it and made me a new sandwich GF without fuss, thank you so much for this ❤️ Delicious veggie baba ganoush sandwich as well! Highly recommend.
C. P.
The most amazing place for tea, such different varieties. Lovely and knowledgeable staff. Great for gluten free, I had the High tea when I was there, the warm scone was delicious.
S.
Also does delicious coffee, for those non-tea drinkers!
T. C.
We loved the cream tea sets. Scones were nice. I had royal earl grey ... lovely aroma. Conveniently located on Frederic street
Z. H.
Lovely teas and delicious cakes. Good service and clean 👌
A. J.
Great experience coming for breakfast. The smoothie bowl was very tasty and the scrambled egg bagel that my partner had was absolutely perfect. I nearly got one for myself, I was a bit jealous! Friendly staff and a chilled atmosphere.
A. L.
It was a freezing autumnal rainy day in Scotland and this tea room was my saviours.
The staff are wonderfully friendly and I ordered a matcha green cinnamon latte, beautifully presented and tastes creamy and delicious.
V. H.
We had the high tea and it was delicious. Our scones were light, fresh and huge. We had one gluten free friend and it was super lovely that everything on the high tea menu also had a gluten free option so our friend didn’t have to miss out.
J. B.
They have an extensive tea selection...and very good scones, cream and jam.
J. “. L.
Perfectly cute and quaint tea house. I had the afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly and it was affordable, casual and very good. I highly recommend.
B. R.
Nice and fresh food on offer, small quirky tea timer depending what strength you like your tea. 😁
S. D.
Lovely staff. Knowledgeable. Explaining how you drink tea. I actually never knew how to drink it properly! Nice venue, great colours and atmosphere.
k. h.
Beautiful wee tea room in the heart of the city centre! Tea is served in old fashioned China cups and there's a huge selection available! Food is lovely aswell if you're after a light lunch
B. “.
I had the creamtea special. It was exactly as expected. Huge selection of teas available and lovely scones with raspberry and cream.
Service was good, speedy and overall value for money.
L. J.
A nice spot to enjoy tea and cakes or even sandwich and soup. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable in giving advice while we are considering different choices of menu to order
A. M.
Amazing cake and extremely great taste in music! Would definitely visit again! We loved the atmosphere!
C. H.
Lovely tea room in the heart of Edinburgh with an excellent selection of tea (and coffee). I highly recommend the rhubarb and sour cream pie and the Tomatin whisky tea. Stunningly smokey.
A. G.
Despite going gluten and dairy free earlier this year, eteaket managed to serve me an excellent bacon roll and cup of tea! The staff were fantastic.
a. l.
I went one day for a pot of tea and thought the staff were friendly and there was a good selection of teas. However, I think if you are wanting somewhere for food too this place needs some improvement. We came for afternoon tea which was prebooked and yet they had only 2 types of sandwiches left and half the ingredients missing. We ended up leaving as there were insufficient options left. If people prebook and you are struggling to order the right amount of food you should take food pre orders so you can atleast honor bookings.
T. M.
Great selection of teas, great service
R. M.
Lovely atmosphere, good food and service fab. Well worth the visit
M. K.
Lovely, lovely place for afternoon tea, the staff was really helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is great. The selection of teas is very wide and the scones were massive (and also very good!!). You can also browse through the tea shelf yourself and maybe take home whichever you liked or might want to try. All in all, it's just a very cute place that's perfect to rest at and warm up after your feet are tired from walking up and down Edinburgh for a day.
H. A.
Five star because the place is very well located, the staff friendly, the scones tasty and tea perfect :) Very nice experience ! Thank you
A. H.
Friendly staff, cheap and cheerful, good coffee, lovely selection of different teas, varied menu.
All in all a lovely experience
G. P.
Huge selection of tea, really amazing and for all the taste. Very good also the scone
R. S.
Cracking selection of tea to choose from, along with rightly famous afternoon high tea.
O. G.
Great tea and cake served by great staff
A. M.
The best gluten free scones we ever had! And I try them all over the world. The staff is very friendly, selection of teas is great and the food is excellent. But on a rainy afternoon, a cup of tea with a gluten free scone with cream and jam heals the soul. We will be back.
S. M.
Very nice tea room in Edinburgh.
K. E.
Absolutely love this place! There’s still a few of us tea lovers out there and it’s so nice to have a place in the city to sit enjoy a cuppa. Nice, warm and welcoming tea shop in town, I love dropping by with a book and trying one of their specialty teas. Who said gin and tea don’t go together! Recommend this place because of its fantastic tea selection and awesome staff.
S. P.
Wonderful cozy place for all tea lovers!!! The decoration is extremely cute and beautiful and the variety of teas is impressive!!! Great place to also enjoy your breakfast and/or brunch!! The service is very fast and friendly! Please check the beautiful collection of tea pots available in the store (reasonable prices)!! Highly recommended!
V. j.
I had the earl grey charcoal latte, which was quite nice, with just the right level of strength of the bergamot...even if it seemed weird at first.
Unfortunately I can't say the same for the cakes and biscuits. I had the shortbread...far too sweet and caked in more sugar on top. And the walnut coffee cake was uncooked in the middle, and the buttercream was inedible. I thought they looked good compared to the savory menu. However, the others who took the afternoon tea and sandwiches seemed happier with their meals.
I really wanted to love this place, but..left disappointed
O. L.
Great tea, excellent fruit scones!
E. S.
Really nice place with good service and great selection of teas.
B. M.
Lovely tea (of course!) and delicious cake, the staff are really friendly and keep the place very clean and organised to keep up with the COVID regs. Recommend booking a table before going if you can.
М. С.
Really English Afternoon tea from own tea brand, cool plain scones with traditional cream and jam!
Very nice tea tableware-all items are different but so sweet!
Service is swift and polite!
Strongly recommended to visit but mind that working time is till 6 p.m.only
A. G.
Went for breakfast, great range of teas, enjoyed the Harris Gin tea, the Earl Gray was too strong for me. The french toast was disappointing, soggy and tasted of burnt butter. My friends bacon roll was good, overall the service was poor, they forgot to bring my friend’s coffee, then brought a second pot of tea before we asked, no cutlery or napkins which when we asked were thrown over the dividing wall at us. We would return but you need to address the customer service issues.
G. R.
Loved this place! Cute interior and so many varieties of tea to choose from. Staff knew what they were talking about; I asked for a tea recommendation and was very pleased with the result. Great vegan scones too, though it would've been even better if they had a dairy-free alternative to the clotted cream.
D. J. F.
I attended a baby shower here over the weekend and fell in love with the place.
The staff had put a lot of effort into making the room at back look special for the mom to be and were so friendly and attentive.
Their selection of tea inspired cocktails are to die for.
I had the Chai White Russian and just thinking about it is getting me salivating.
I also had their high tea which comprised of a sandwich of my choice a brownie and a scone with strawberry jam and cream all of which were delightful.
S. F.
Lovely place. Really good selection of tea. I love the way they bring the tea with an egg timer so you know how long to brew it. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also sell their bagged teas and teapots. Recommend a visit.
S. D.
We had the High Tea, which was half a sandwich, scone with clotted cream and jam and a little patisserie for £8.95 (including the drink which we thought was very good value - one of the teas was replaced with a diet coke without quibble). All very tasty (although no option of white bread and one of the little cakes had nuts which might cause a problem allergy wise). Outstanding choice of teas, very good service and comfortable surroundings. Will definitely return when back in Edinburgh.
J. R.
Only second visit to Edinburgh, invited by some local ladies I had arranged to meet. We all enjoyed the scone tea, with varying drinks.
Loved the individual coloured sandtimers, to show when each particular pot of tea was ready.
Friendly and welcoming service, and excellent value.
Wanted to book afternoon tea a few days later, but, fully booked! Can understand why.
J. G.
Food or tea? If you want tea and treats then this is the place. Great atmosphere. Adequate service. Friendly staff. If you want homemade soup and salad then eat here. If you want a hardy sandwich, then go elsewhere. The bread was good, but I had a hard time finding the meat they claimed to put on the bread.
J. T.
The staff is always so helpful finding the tea that meets your needs. And some may seem off to put in when brewing tea but trust me they know what they are doing. The staff also make their own blends too which is cool. Always ask questions too as they will know what can go in what tea or blend.
S. Z.
Amazing! Tons of gluten free options so we're came here twice, celiac safe! The afternoon tea is quite filling so the second time we had the high tea and will left full and happy.
F. B.
Nothing special. Tea wasn't do impressive. The scone was too dry.
C. M.
Lunch at eteaket can be absolutely wonderful, or a real disappointment. The range of teas and hot drinks is always exciting, and staff (when available) are great at advising you on what you may like. Food ranges from fantastic - especially the salads - to a bit blah (some sandwiches). Cakes are always a pleasure though, so now I'm more likely to head to eteaket later in the afternoon - the crowds have usually disappeared, and tea and cake is always a good choice.
T. V.
pleasant little sub street level tea room and bistro offering eclectic mixture of afternoon tea menus, breakfast menus and nice little plates of food. Great selection of teas for every taste even to satisfy someone like my Sri Lankan and Nepali friends who know their tea much more than me. Quiet atmosphere although busy when we went. Bigger than it looks from outside. Mini afternoon tea looks particularly good.
T. R.
It's a small and cosy place where you can have a good tea. The chocolate cake was a a bit small and the milk cup was dirty inside. We wanted to try the scones but they were not available. .. not a great choice of sweets. .. The staff are nice and helpful!
C. S.
Great place, very friendly and polite staff. Food, coffee and deserts were all excellent. Unfortunately we didn't order tea, but we will definitely go again to taste the teas!
V. J.
Just the right spot in New Town to stop for a pot of hot tea (try their Second Flush Darjeeling, or a latte if that is what one prefers instead) and scones served with small pots of clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Sofia was cheerful and welcoming, offering us the option to sit outside - despite it being a windy afternoon - and our afternoon snacks arrived promptly and were oh-so-scrumptious.
We would highly recommend the eteaket Tea Room.
H. V.
A lovely cafe that made a beautiful egg and black pudding hollandaise, as well as French toast. Mince pie chai tea was delicious and the charcoal earl grey latte looked and tasted fantastic. You can buy the tea to take home as well, in either tea bags or as loose. Really great place.
G.
Great spot for food and tea, friendly staff and nice decor. Probably my favourite place to go for tea around Princes Street.
Such a great variety of tea and of you are a big tea fan it is a real treat. They also do Artisan Roast Coffee, phwoar.
Staff are mostly friendly and lovely, occasionally had a few rude encounters so that takes it down to a 4 star.
Keep up the good work guys!
M. A.
Fantastic place and excellent service. One of my favourite places for breakfast in Edinburgh. Definitely a must if you are looking for a place to get some lovely food for breakfast, brunch or tea.
R.
Great environment. Brought my daughter some paper and chalk out to play with. Very friendly, great food. Would definitely come back. Amazing selection of tea.
S. B.
This place sports a vast and impressive tea menu. But if tea isn't your thing there coffee and hot chocolates are delicious too. Their tea is served in proper teapots and tea cups, and teamed with a piece of cake it is perfect for catching up with friends. It can get a little crowed when it's busy, so timing is pretty important when snagging a table!
D. N.
Tea like you've never tasted in a downstairs tea room. Always busy, but if it's dry, a seat outside at pavement level or below is enjoyable. Superb carrot cake! 🥕🍰
a. s.
Lovely tea/coffee shop!
Great location, quite and very cute place. Lots of tea. Tested the whiskey tea, was amazing. Pastry are really nice!
Staff awesome...
E. F.
I got their earl grey G&T cocktail and salmon cucumber cream cheese sandwich... and forgot to take pictures because I was starving. Their sandwich was good, it came with a salad and some kind cole slaw like dipping sauce (which was delicious and I wish they gave more of it). What blew me away was the cocktail. My senses were taken for a ride - the earl grey slaps you in the face initially, then you're swept away with the overall sweetness of the cocktail, and finally the lemon gives you a little zing at the end. I'm recommending this place to all my friends!
P. K.
Their Bollywood masala tea is so flavorful, my parents and in-laws loved it. I ordered some more after returning home.
W. N.
Great scones, and the jam was to die for. They did however forget the cream for our tea and it was difficult to grab the staff's attention. Very fairly priced and good quality.
A. T.
Great selection of tea. They also have a food menu but didn't try it. Great atmosphere and even though it was busy it wasn't too loud. Can be busy during lunchtime on weekends so booking a table for lunch is advised.
D. H.
Excellent service Good selection of teas and coffee at reasonable prices
G. B.
Whilst the food is good and the range of teas is amazing (and tea, clearly excuse the pun is their bag). The service does slightly let them down. They were busy when I was there on a Sat afternoon but being made to wait infront of 3 members of staff without any of them acknowledging me stood there detracted from the experience somewhat. All it takes is a simple 'sorry to keep you waiting, we'll be with you in a moment'.
So go here, revel in the teas and fancy cakes, enjoy the funky tea house feel. But just don't expect much for the service.
O. O.
Such a lovely place for tea and cake, very moist home made cakes.
D. S.
Great selection of leaf teas. The whiskey blend was lovely!
R. M.
Eteaket is a real Edinburgh favorite. It's a tea room situated right in the heart of Edinburgh, a short walk from George Street and Princess Street, probably Edinburgh's two most prominent shopping districts. As you might guess, they offer a range of tea and coffees to suit most tastes and all in a little bit of style - the decor very deliberately is designed to make it feel you have stepped back in time into a elegant homely living room for a spot of tea and a good old fashioned chat. I'll be honest and say that tea isn't my thing but cake is and there plenty of that too - my scones were particularly delicious. A great place to meet friends, relax or unwind after a busy days shopping.
Q. L.
I checked into Frederick House hotel without realising that eteaket was just opposite the hotel. What a find! Whilst I wanted to try to the famous afternoon tea I was too full and settled for the high tea instead.
I tried the chicken pesto mayonnaise sandwich, the scone and a pot of peach tea. The sandwich was the most juicy, moist and flavourful sandwich I have ever had and whilst I am not a fan of scones, I have been sold by this most amazing (and huge) scones served.
Tea was obviously great and the ambience was that of a cosy friendly unpretentious cafe which one can stroll in alone, with a romantic partner, a best friend, family or a group of friends and feel just at ease. I agree with some of the reviewers that the service can be a hit or a miss depending on the staff on duty but dining at this place was 1 of the best in my entire time in the UK!
E. A. S. R.
Was amazing! We had a great time, there are not as many places where you can enjoy a cup of proper tea and we loved the big selection of tea they have. I would recommend it 100% 😁❤️
R. D.
This is a lovely place to meet up for a chat with a close friend. Very good selection of teas served very stylistically and accompanied by a selection of cakes and buns to die for.
I loved the Earl Grey, served in nice and quirky pot and cute cups.
J. G.
The tea was very good and a nice ambiance, but the cake was a little lacklustre.
S. M.
Eteaket is a good place to drink a tea or buy a refill for home in New town.
Interior wise, it feels very cosy and chic.
I tried several of their teas (Gen Mai Cha; oriental Oolong...) and liked them very much however I tried their scone and I wasn't particularly happy by the look and the taste.
Next time I have to try their teatime and a cake maybe to compare.
Not too sure about the quality of the service (no spoon with our teas and no timer like the other tables...)
Prices are reasonable (50 gr of loose leaf tea for £4,95).
A. G.
Nice little tea shop with tasty looking cakes! They offer a wide range of tea's. The décor is a little bit to kitsch for my liking. However I think many would love this place!
L. S.
Very busy cafe. Good for trying teas as have many loose teas to choose from. Scone with clotted cream was OK.. nothing spectacular. Staff not the friendliest and a little on the slow side .. couple beside me walked out!
H. s.
Delicious coffee and the best carrot cake we’ve ever tasted. Fantastic.
K. M.
Not exactly the sort of place that I frequent often as a pub man, but I have to admit that each time I've been it has been a delightful experience and I've left with good memories. And it's worth mentioning that they do loads of experimental and fun collaborations with other local companies which keep them interesting and in the public eye. If I was to send anyone to afternoon tea (I wouldn't but let's just keep it hypothetical) it would most definitely be here.
A.
Lovely shop and staff where great, service was really nice and despite the fringe rush they coped well. Will definitely be coming back since I already loved the tea they sell.
M. A.
A nice place with wide selection of teas and many options for snacks. There is also running a shop where you can buy your favourite tea, cups or other accessories with the logo of the shop on them. The service is good too.
M. N.
We love going here for lunch or afternoon tea. Friendly service, fresh delicious food and great tea in quirky surroundings. You can relax and catch up with friends. An added bonus over Christmas is that they don't play Xmas musac!
R. J.
A quirky tea room serving hundreds of kinds of tea. The food was fantastic, as was the service. It seemed as popular with the locals as with tourists which is always a good sign. High tea was excellent.
A. T.
Can't go wrong - a popular spot but for good reasons. The choice of tea is huge and caters to everyones taste. I've had the toasted cheese and tomato croissant a few times and it always hits the spot! I recommend the iced tea for something a little different :)
A.
My favourite afternoon tea in Edinburgh! They have every kind of tea under the sun and you can even buy a box of your favorite to take home (bollywood dreams chai is the best).
R. B.
Great place to stop but a chat and relax after a day of shopping.
Easily located just off George Street, near Princes St. Staff are always friendly, the tea list is never ending and the cakes are delicious.
The decor is really pretty and the surroundings make you feel cosy with your cup of tea.
B. B.
Really liked this place, best to book if u want to sit in the main part but there are some tables in the front if just turn up as we did. Had the cream tea and was very pleased.
M. B.
Hospitable place with friendly staff. I tried the whisky-flavoured tea: simply delicious!
L. T.
As a perennial tea-lover, Eteaket is a taste-sensation waiting to happen and every visit begins with a hefty bout of indecision. My favourites include the Mint Tea Latte, Rooibos Crèmè Caramel, Jasmine Pearls and Cranberry Rose. I had soup once too and it was good as well and the cake wasn't bad either, but I definitely visit for the tea...
L. W.
Of all the tea shops in Edinburgh, I think eteaket love what they do the most. A tearoom in pink, white and black with a vaguely Alice in Wonderland feel but also a good place to buy custom blends and tea trinkets as gifts.
When I go for afternoon tea, or even just restrict myself to one cup, it really makes my experience better if the place is pretty. It's not the most important factor, I know, but being able to sip a properly brewed, good quality cup of tea from a china cup in dainty surroundings isn't the kind of relaxation I can personally find in any chain coffeehouse, and it certainly makes for better photographs for tourists and social media addicts alike.
What is the most important factor, and what I almost always have when I go to eteaket, is the tea itself, and here it can come in latte form. Yes, that's right, tea lattes. The earl grey one is my absolute favourite, but have the mint if that's not your cup of tea (do you see what I did there...?). It has a decadence and sweetness I don't usually associate with tea, and you'll feel soothed and spoiled after one.
V. H.
The tea quality and selection here is good (as expected), but the accompanying scone was a bit of a disappointment - it was a bit flat and dense. Would have also preferred that they served it heated, although they were kind enough to do so when asked.

With an office just above Eteaket, I'm getting to know the place quite well - or more specifically, I'm getting to know the chai lattes well! As the cafe is almost always busy I tend to buy the takeaway drinks, and while service is variable - this isn't the takewaway to get if you're in a hurry - the drinks are very good and the mint tea latte comes highly recommended.
An extra bonus point is that the gluten-free cake tastes like - wait for it - Actual Cake. For the first time ever you'll want to steal food from the Coeliac-person in your life!
R. M.
Lovely high tea.. yummy scones... brilliant staff.. so friendly
S. K.
Not cheap but the teas are delicious, especially the latte versions. The afternoon tea combo (tea, scones, sandwiches and pastries) is soo filling and I would have preferred more savoury than all that sweet stuff. We gave our extra cakes to a beggar to make us feel better but then we saw her with some sort of pimp or partner and felt cheated somehow... (by her, not Eteaket) we will go again.
A. S.
Very nice caffe. Really good choice of teas, huge scones, friendly service.
D. S.
I organised an afternoon tea hen party at Eteaket, and everything was brilliant. I organised everything over email with Aine beforehand, and she was super-helpful, very proactive, and incredibly friendly. On the day they set aside the back room for us, and took great care of us. And the food! The giant scones are a must-try - I've never seen such enormous scones that are still so soft and tasty. We had far too much to eat and it was great!
I can highly recommend Eteaket for anyone who loves tea or is looking for a little treat. And it was great for a hen do!
G. J.
I’m torn with Eteaket. The service is decidedly hit and miss, some of the staff are lovely, others are decidedly surly. Likewise with the cakes – sometimes they are fresh and delicious, sometimes they are a bit dry. When it opened, it was great. Finally, somewhere in the city centre that isn’t a Starbucks! But it’s starting to lose its charm, and I get the feeling it needs a bit of a refresh. It’s the little things – I used to buy my leaf teas here, because they were good quality and came in caddies. No more, they’re now in plastic bags, so you’ve got to find your own tin to keep them in (or buy one from them). I get the feeling Eteaket has been resting on its laurels for a while, and other cafes have started to sneak up and overtake.
D. M.
Needs more spaghetti, but otherwise, perfect!
L. S.
I absolutely love this place. Not only is it a tea-lovers dream it also serves the yummiest sandwiches and does a great cream tea. It's the perfect place to stop in after exploring the city thanks to it's cosy, comforting vibe.
M. F.
Nice place with very kind staff. We had Scones and Earl Grey... both delicious!
S. C.
High tea was brilliant great choice of sandwiches cakes and scones staff very helpful 👌
A. C.
Great tea (of course), with very interesting options like blooming tea and specials that change regularly.
They also sell tea making equipment and some of their teas.
I have also found their tea in zero waste shops like the refillery, where you can get it completely plastic free.
J. K.
Loads of teas to explore, had an afternoon tea, very tasty
Z. P.
I'm addicted to Eteaket's Chocolate Abyss tea... it might sound like a sort of hot chocolate hybrid but it's actually a black tea with cocoa bits and coconut pieces. A pot goes particularly well with one of their large fruit scones and jam.
Eteaket can get pretty busy at times, so often I just pop in and buy a caddy of the tea instead.
L. P.
Wonderful teas - such a treat! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good food. A wee haven to take some time out and enjoy a bit of rejuvenation.
E. S.
Impressive variety of teas. House's Chai Latte tea and Chocolate Abbey tea are over the average. Very good home made cakes.
J. J.
Afternoon tea was just right. Not sickly. Tea choice amazing. Great service.
A. M.
Love this place!
Toilets need upgrading!
S. W.
Lovely tea and cakes. One member of staff needs to get some customer service training. Ignore. Ignore. Wipe bench. Ignore. Hot female, how can help..... Sorry can you please take my order? I've waited nearly 10 mins! Roll of the eyes....
a. s.
eteaket has a wonderful selection of teas, and beautiful decor. Their afternoon tea package is delicious, and great value for money.
The people there are very friendly and welcoming.

I love eteaket ! They have so many teas and infusions. I really recommand you try their cakes as well (some of they are vegan).
E. S.
Cosy cafe with friendly staff, fresh and healthy food, and lots of different types of teas
J. C.
Pleasant afternoon tea but not quiet as good as expected. I had heard a lot of people mentioning eteaket over the years but never been there. I was expecting something a bit more special, bit since the price is a lot less than many places I can't really complain that it seemed a bit ordinary
T. W.
The most gorgeous Tomato & garlic noodle soup!!
K. L.
So many choices of tea, service was amazing, staff very knowledgeable. Food was great. Will definitely visit again
G. I.

You feel it like your home, warm and with good wifi, perfect for a cold evening. The chocolate cake was amazing and the tea aswell.
G. W.
A group of us had gone in after work for someone who was leaving. The first thing I was told, even before a 'hello', was 'we'll be closing in twenty minutes'. After I'd ordered, I was told just to 'pay afterwards'. Everything was really rushed and it felt like the six or so tables were being pressurised into finishing. My chai latte was wishy washy, and my vegan friend commented that the slice of loaf she had tasted (and did look) shop-bought. The seven of us payed £36, of our earned money, to give a salary to the girl behind the counter who just wanted us out. And then she was stressed at the end as the customers qued to pay. Overall a disappointing experience.
J. L.
Wide choice of tea , food was tasty , service great ,good location. Will be back to try the afternoon tea offer :)!
I. S.
A quirky little tea room with excellent variety of real teas, not tea bags and good coffee. Good menus for breakfast and lunch and reasonable prices for a city centre café.
D. E.
Wonderful little tea shop. Probably the best tea in the area; most of the high-end hotels and restaurants buy their tea. Very friendly staff.

Having discovered Eteaket in January, I'm slowly taking all of my friends there, making terrible scone jokes, and drinking all of the Bollywood Chai. There's an enormous list of tea, and the biggest scones ever, so definitely factor in at least a couple of hours.
A.
Great place, they know how to make tea :)

(Translated) We chose the site because you can reserve online without leaving a deposit and we wanted to make sure of a place for an afternoon tea. On the web you can choose the time and it is very easy to make the reservation. The afternoon tea cost us £20 each because we ordered a coffee instead of tea. It included 3 rolls of salmon, chicken and cheese, very good. 1 scone with butter and jam and 3 bite-size cupcakes for each person. The site is very nice and the girls who serve very friendly. Highly recommended for afternoon tea or for eating in general.
