Reviews of Fortuna Coffee Bar
J. M.
Lovely people and nice aesthetic inside and outside. Aside from that, their food is delicious. We ordered cheese toastie and scarmbled eggs in toast plus bacon. We also ordered coffee and hot chocolate. This spot is good for breakfast! I love supporting local and independent shops since there menus are original 👍🏻👍🏻

Fantastic food and coffee! I am not usually a breakfast enthusiast but I tried the berry bowl here and I found myself wolfing it down because it was so delicious. Loved it. And the latte was great as well. The prices are not ridiculous, so if you are in the area you definitely have to try this Cafe out! Extra cookie points: they accept American Express

We stayed at the Native so the cafe was right next door. Came in seeing the reviews, and can’t agree more; it’s a cozy place with great food.
Tried the ham and cheese croissant, the cheese toastie, banana nest - all of which were really tasty and fresh.
Chai latte and matcha latte for coffee. Also really nice.
The staff were really friendly and sure brightened up our day before the adventures began.
L. D.
Delicious cheese toastie and hot chocolate. This place has a really nice and cozy vibe. The attention we received was amazing. Highly recommend. Photo attached is of a decaffeinated flat white.

Right next door to our hotel was this wonderful little café run by a very friendly couple , it was so good we came back for 2 mornings in a row to have our breakfast , the flat whites were just perfect and the grilled cheese and ham croissant were a fab way to start the day , my partners highlight was finding another place that served her favourite turmeric lattes

The best mocha I had in a while, proper chocolate used and you can really taste the difference in the drink.
Salmon toast as expected, nothing too special but doesn't go wrong either.
However I was not a fan of the brownies. There are unmelted sugar granules in the bite.

Lovely friendly staff. Varied menu with something for everyone. Stopped here for a coffee and croissant one afternoon. Then, we came back the next day for breakfast. Both visits were thoroughly enjoyable.

Lovely breakfast bar & coffee shop easy to find slightly away from main "touristy" areas such as Princes & Rose Streets. Pretty much on corner of Queen St & Charlotte Street. Nice & light coloured furnishings & has an independent feel.
I had juice, cheese toastie which was "open" & topped with brie & a nice americano coffee just as I like. Friendly welcoming staff, recommended & will return when next in Edinburgh.

I’m from Argentina and we stay at the Yotel just beside Fortuna Coffee. One of the best coffees I tried in Europe, the matcha latte and the natural yoghurts are superb. The owner and the service N1. I recommend to visit.

Absolutely loved this gem of a coffee bar. Their matcha lattes are delicious and their menu is just so appealing. We ended up going twice because we loved it so much! Very accommodating for allergies too. Their berry bowl is as delicious as it is "instagrammable" and the avo toast was also very tasty! The staff are all very friendly and efficient. If I lived nearer, I'd be there almost everyday but I think Oxford to Edinburgh might be a bit far for breakfast.

We purposely search for a great coffee in Edinburgh town once we have arrived the Waverley station Edinburgh. One of the best coffee in town, friendly staffs, clean toilet and atmosphere, many choices of desserts , cakes and pastries. Highly recommended!
H. B.
Absolutely fantastic food. Great portion size and very friendly and welcoming service.

We had just switched to a new hotel due to a bad experience at another hotel and needed a solid breakfast. We stumbled upon this little gem 😍 Apart from the friendly service and the cute decore, we had a magnificent breakfast (avo toast with scramble and berry bowl) with some lovely coffee. Thank you for giving us a bright new start to the day 🙏👌

Small coffee bar with take out or table service and light breakfast fare. Toast with salmon was delish!
S. D.
Delicious matcha latte from this amazing little coffee shop away from the crowds.
🍵
Wish I’d had time to eat as the food looked delicious.

Lovely food, good brunch/lunch option! Coffee was good, but could be a little bit better (flat white was too milky)

Fortuna Coffee Bar:
This is one of the best cafes if not THE best in Edinburgh. The breakfast foods are well ordered and come in plentiful servings.
The cafe has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are happy and helpful.
Everything about this cafe is perfect, you MUST come here if visiting or live in the city!!
I. B.
Cute little café with a yummy matcha latte! Their selection of breakfast and lunch items as well as baked treats is very tempting as well.

Normally I’m not a vege person at all but the vege hummus toast is so good and I keep having it every time. The cappuccino is also very well done, every single time! Such an underrated cafe, highly recommended. Good for a business coffee or casual catch ups. Very friendly staff as well.
M.
Wonderful little Coffee Shop with Delicious Croissants and Scrambled Eggs.
We come back whenever we are again in Edinburgh.
V. P.
Wonderful little coffee bar 😊 I had the Banana nest with yoghurt and berries, which I can highly recommend. Delicious coffee and cake as well 😋

Have made this my regular breakfast / brunch and coffee shop when in Edinburgh.
Great coffee, awesome choice of food options all freshly prepared. Staff are all super efficient and friendly.
S.
Such a lovely cafe , had a very good brunch which was served by excellent staff . Keep up the good work
P. W.
great breakfast.. coffee had specific fruity note, but it's scotland so.... :)
m. e.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Coffee is excellent. Especially enjoyed the blackberry on Brie breakfast meal. Ended up going three times during a four day stay I enjoyed it so much
S. F.
Amazing place. We were staying at a hotel nearby and had breakfast here every day. The coffee is excellent (and we never forget good coffee, so we'll be back!) and the food was lovely. We tried both savoury and sweet dishes, as well as some pastries and it was all very good. Friendly and fast service. Last but not least, staff were mindful of C19 measures, which is appreciated given that other businesses seem to care little these days.
P. M.
Tasty Sunday morning treat. The coffee is genuinely good, all the food looks gorgeous and the window tables are cozy
J. J.
Came in on Monday for a coffee and I have to say, it’s the best ice coffee I’ve ever had. Service is as extremely quick and the two girls were very pleasant. 10/10
M. C.
Finding an awesome coffee shop in Edinburgh is quite easy, that said Fortuna left a lasting impression. Very well designed, great food and the best coffee i had in town. The two girls working there were super friendly too!
R. C.
This is going to be added on my list of favorite cafe's. It a must try if you love coffee and the food is also very good. The staff is friendly and it definitely worth trying if you are just for a few hours in town.
S. F. D.
Amazing new cafe in Edinburgh serving great coffees, teas, and beyond.
The food is excellent - my wife and I had the best avocado toast with smoked salmon we’ve ever had.
A huge bonus is they serve kombucha as well - not always straightforward to find.
The owner is very friendly and the whole staff is welcoming and warm.
Being dog friendly as well, Fortuna is a must visit both if you’re a dog owner or not. Superb spot.
H. A.
Best coffee in town! I am so glad that I found such a place. It’s right beside my school so..
I love the vibes in this cozy place. Staff are super friendly & welcoming, small menu for breakfast & pastries yet so yummy and for sure the COFFEE IS FLAWLESS!
C. G.
Fantastic breakfast! The staff are really friendly and create some lovely breakfast dishes. Also, they have the best coffee in the city.
A. K.
Love their coffee, very rich in flavour.
Also recommend their chicken cheese toasts.
F. M.
Great service and food! It is a lovely place to eat and spend time with friends.
V. C.
Absolutely lovely wee place! I really enjoyed the healthy and tasty choices on the menu, service is wonderful. The place is clean and bright, I had a wonderful afternoon there with my friends.
B. R.
Good coffee, and good food. The portions were larger than I was expecting
J. C.
Was such a great experience, we went straight back the next day for another breakfast! The staff are very friendly and obliging (altered a few menu items to accommodate my nut allergy) and served up some delicious and healthy dishes with a smile. Would recommend for breakfast / brunch to anyone in the area!
M. T.
Super nice colorful food. Well worth every penny. It was love for your eyes and your mouth. Just wow! :)
A. D.
Lovely little café serving really nice breakfast options and excellent coffee
T. L.
Was okay. Reminded me of the many hipster cafes that are around the UK now. Menu seems to be mainly toast. I had toast and avocado with scrambled egg which came to 9.50.
£2.50 for a tiny portion of rubbery egg. Was okay, nothing special.
Coffee was outstanding however.
J. B.
Lovely coffee, friendly service. The cakes were divine, I had a toffee, apple and pecan 'rocky road' type cake (I didn't see what it was called!), and it was utterly fab, so tasty and the perfect amount of flavour and sweetness. I ordered a turmeric latte and got a regular latte but did get the requested oat milk. Tbf that was more likely down to me ordering whilst muffled by my mask! They didn't have cream or marshmallows for hot choc for my little one, so they gave him some strawberries, which I thought was very lovely! A far nicer option, rly! Highly recommended. Nice ambience in the cafe itself, brightly lit and a great place for watching the world go by.
K. F. B.
I lived in NZ and it’s so hard to find a good coffee shop that does Avo toast as good as kiwis, but Fortuna is the place! Really yummy food, lovely staff and fantastic coffee. Good atmosphere and ambiance too :)
O. L.
Great soup and sandwich lunch option.
G. B.
We had a great breakfast here. The food is excellent, lots of healthy and creative options. The vibe, art and music are also great. Thank you
K. B.
The first day of my visit to Edinburgh, I stumbled upon Fortuna and I went back every morning for coffee and breakfast throughout the rest of my trip. The coffee was great and the food, delicious. My favorites were the berry bowl and the avocado toast with smoked salmon. The portion sizes are quite generous, too; I always left the bar with plenty of energy to explore the city. And their staff was just as wonderful as their food and drink--very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend this place.
A.

An absolutely fantastic place. Genuinely the best coffee bar and cafe in Edinburgh. The food is fantastic (especially the famous cheese toastie), coffee is great, but most important of all the staff are fantastic. Super friendly and welcoming, while the whole place has a great atmosphere. Cant recommend enough.

Popped into this cafe while on business in Edinburgh. And what a surprise! Beautiful inviting decor, welcoming staff & varied menu. My colleague and I were particularly taken by the selection of healthy and tasty vegan options. We thoroughly enjoyed our 1hr+ stop over. Thanks to the very inviting & friendly owners (Nigel & Sibel). I can't wait to come back and enjoy the lovely hospitality & outstanding food. A truly hidden Gem.

A. S.
Friendly staff, inventive breakfast choices! A much deserved addition to Edinburgh
E. L.
Just collected a Too Good to Go bag from them. It looks delicious, it is well prepared and they let you choose what type of sandwich you want - veggie or meat (in my case chicken). I don't suppose you get a choice every time and it would be silly to expect it but it is bice that they give you the choice when theg have the option. Above all, the staff is extremely nice, would be returning for more than a magic a bag bext time!
T. G.
