Reviews of Milk at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop
D. T. M.
Nice little place that you wouldn't know was there as it's tucked away downstairs.
They do the best 'all-day breakfast' toasted banana bread with Greek yogurt, honey and crushed pistachios. It is simply amazing! I'm a regular customer and I always get this gorgeous dish.
Lovely, friendly staff too.

GREAT CAFE FOR CHILLING
Came here at around 10am on a Saturday for breakfast and there was a full table available inside. There were quite a few available outside as well. The QR code for the table worked perfectly and it's very easy to order your food.
The service was rapid with everything coming out within minutes of the order being placed.
I got the Chorizo breakfast. The chorizo is amazing and the richness of the meat is balanced nicely with the sweet spicy flavours coming from it as well.
I always enjoy coming here and checking out the pastry selections as well.
I. A.
Great location, just off the Water of Leith Pathway. Lovely spot to relax and enjoy your cakes. Unfortunately, there is only take away service at the moment. You can have your cake and eat it, while enjoying birds singing in the magic of the sunset.
In addition, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is a great venue itself, as a recognizable modern building.
J. R.
Always great food and coffee but all hard surfaces/coffee machine means it's not great if you have any hearing issues. I am ok one to one, but not in a group.
J. H.
Very nice to be able to sit on roof terrace in sunshine. Menu selection small but tasty. Not overly priced. Unexpected gem hidden away
P. M.
Gorgeous home made cakes, good coffee and interesting surroundings. Good outside spaces for eating out in Good weather.

So glad I discovered this little place by accident. You wouldn't know it's there unless you really look for it, love it! Simple decor with a Scandinavian feel, very "Instagram-able". Food was exceptional and reasonably priced. Service was polite. Plenty of highchairs and some toys for kids. Tables outside too for when the Scottish weather gives us a break...

I usually avoid places where half the menu is dedicated to vegetarian/vegan eaters. This place is the proof that my preferences in this matter is quite out of date.
The Danish cake and walnut coffee cake were amazing.
The Asian chicken wrap was fantastic too.
They use great beans for their coffee.
I'll definitely come back.

Secluded little cafe in a modern building located next to the function sculptural workshops.
I'd walked from Edinburgh Old Town to Newhaven and wanted to stop for a coffee and cake before making my way back. Staff were very friendly and brought my refreshments outside for me.
The coffee was very good and I opted for a plum and almond tart which was both moist and flavorful. I seated myself in view of the workshop and it's was pleasant to watch a sculpture at work their while I ate.
Would definitely recommend for a pit stop.

Discovered this on a cycle to the west of Leith, off Hawthornvale Path. There is bicycle parking and indoor and outdoor seating. Sit at a table and order from their app. If you go in, though, you will see their amazing array of cakes and scones! We had brie and cranberry. They do delicious healthy breakfasts and sandwiches, vegan and GF options. Perfect reward for all our exercise!

THE NEGATIVES:
Service from a young male was not overly welcoming. Even wearing a mask one could tell. The young lady also wearing a mask and serving clearly WAS smiling, however.
Don't expect the QR code for Track and Trace - if sat outside - to work. Likewise the QR code for ordering from your table. One is a legal failing, the other a service failure.
THE POSITIVES:
The quality of food is high class, sublime and most healthy. If ordered at the service desk inside, your food WILL swiftly arrive at your table. Don't expect bacon butties or mornjng roll sausages however. This place has a more upper crust menu focus.
Worth a visit? Yes.
Worth a return visit? Yes, but don't expect a smile.

Set in a lovely, leafy location, tucked away along the cycle path by the Water of Leith, this is the perfect summer spot for a coffee. Prices are reasonable (no more expensive than elsewhere in Edinburgh), and the vegan cakes are tasty. (I haven't tried other food items on the menu.)
My chai tea was pretty insipid - just a weak tea bag in some hot water - but everything else was good - friendly staff too, and I would rate this place highly for atmosphere.
B. H.
Located just off the cycle path. Seatings outside and on the sun available ! Food is great, good options for gf or vegan diet. Staff very friendly, very child friendly. They also have toys available if u need. Will be back
H. M.
Good coffee Good options on meat/dairy alternatives for coffee and food. Lots of outdoor seating. We forgot masks, but there are QR codes to order from your outside table which is super handy. I'm sure the staff are amazing but I literally said "thanks" 5o one person and that was it.

Nice coffee, yummy scones and friendly atmosphere
B. L.
Lovely cake and a really nice atmosphere. Toys and colouring for kids and a beautiful wee courtyard next to the cycle path for them to sit in on a sunny day.
C. B.
Bacon brioche with sage was very nice. Tables well set out. Hopefully they can extend opening hours past 2:00pm
P. C.
Was nice to discover this place, nested in the Sculpture workshop. Good choice of breakfasts, although more bread would have been welcome. Nice hipstery crowd

One of our local coffee haunts. Good coffee and friendly staff. Food is good and cakes fresh and tasty. If the sun's shining it's a great spot on the upper terrace for some sun and is also quite cosy inside when the rains coming down sideways. Really great it's straight onto the Trinity path so can have a post cake stroll.
K. B.
Great venue, wonderful coffee, and delicious food. Highly recommend.

I cycled to this café on 20/10/20. There are a large number of tables outdoors and some of them are covered by umbrellas. There are also tables inside. There is plenty of bicycle parking. You have to go inside the café to order. There is a QR code you have to scan which takes you to the cafes website where you put in your details for track and trace. According to the website after 21 days your details will be destroyed. The staff are wearing masks which is pleasing. There are your usual selection of hot drinks available as well as a selection of cakes and traybakes. I had a tea and a Caramel and Sea Salt dark chocolate bar which was tasty. I arrived at 13:40 and although the café is meant to close at 14:00 they let you sit outside and finish what you're having after the 14:00 closing time. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area of this café and there is a bowl with water in it that they can drink out of. The staff do not spray tables outside after people have left. Instead there is a station with sanitiser on where you can get the stuff to clean the table you're planning on sitting at if you wish.
In conclusion, this is a great café which has a large outdoor seating area and is great to cycle too.
B. K.
Delicious food. Very dog friendly- even allowed inside. Vegan and gf options. Lots of outdoor space. Great coffee and cake. Really accommodating. Perfect for brunch with dogs and babies.

My favourite lunch spot in Leith. The staff are all great, good service, quick regardless of how busy it is. Delicious coffee & a menu that is easy for people with dietary requirements to read. Dog friendly in winter & very family friendly. Always at least one vegan cake winner which is always welcome in my book!
T. H.
Lovely coffee in an unusual minimalist setting, which makes it somewhat unique and different from the usual coffee shop environment I visit. There's a nice selection of cakes to choose from and some chilling background music to enjoy without being too intrusive. Today, my coffee was a little on the warm side, but as I said, it's lovely coffee, all the same. In my experience, as a regular coffee shop visitor, it all essentially depends on who serves it and how good they are.
M. H.
Nice chilled out cafe with plenty of space inside and out. Family friendly and dog get bowls of water outside at the outdoor tables. On water of Leith walkway, so can cycle or walk. Food mainly cakes and scones with super strong coffee
V. A.
A surprise to find this place on the cycle/foot path. Very nice, very welcoming, nice food.
K. W.
Best coffee in town!! Great place to pop into when you are out on a cycle run or walk.
J. G. G.
I love this café and went for lunch with my god daughter. We both eat veggie so it's a recommended place for that! The best deal was the soup and half sandwich: we had a different one each but both were super generous and delicious!
C. G.
Lovely place and staff. Great location just off the cycle path. The best muffin I've ever tasted.
E. S. S.
Lovely cafe situated in an interesting contemporary building facing the cycle path. Consequently popular with families and dog walkers. Good bike parking provided. Great teas, coffee, scones and cake. Eat inside or on the sheltered, south facing terrace.
C. W.
Super nice location and fit out, a really nice place to sit and meet people or to read a book etc. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
I had a pear, apple, cinnamon twist thing which was really very nice. The coffee wasn't great but that doesn't seem to be their forte, so not really to be expected. Certainly a great study spot. I'll be back.
G. C.
After promising.ourselves a visit to here for a long time, we finally made it along for breakfast. Located within the Sculpture centre right on the Waterr of Leith walkway this venue is popular with walkers and cyclists alike. Plenty of choice for both vegetarians and meat eaters. I went for the Full Breakfast option and my partner the Full Vegan Breakfast. Service was prompt and friendly and prices very reasonable.
J. M.
Very relaxing atmosphere for coffee and a bite to eat. Artist right around the corner and it is right off a walking path a short distance from Victoria Park. Dog and child-friendly!! Will definitely make this place my go-to coffee shop.
A. H.
Nice building and location, these types of places are so subjective. For me the coffee wasn't the best, and the breakfast was ok. Nice staff, prices are Edinburgh usual and the atmosphere on a Saturday morning was relaxing. Will I go back? Likely not but that speaks to my preferences rather than overall experience.
H. T.
Delicious brunch! The roasted tomatoes are the food of dreams
D. B.
Great outdoor space to sit and eat or grab coffee. Healthy but tasty menu
G. R.
One of our favourite places to refuel when we are out cycling. Whether it's a coffee and a cake or a meal; you will be impressed. Vegarians will like this place. The staff are efficient and friendly.
B. G.
The brunch boxes are amazing and the treats are always delicious. Great stop on the cycle path!
c. s.
Great place for coffee and a snack if you're around the walkway. Plenty seating inside and out. Reasonable prices.
R. P.
Lovely little cafe, does great coffee and delicious food. Really nice spot for brunch. Great veggie, vegan and gluten free options too and the menu is really clearly labelled!
A. W.
Cracking food! You want to get here early to have the most choice though, as things will sell out through the day.
M. D.
They have a wee shack on Inverkeithing park, brownie was pretty good but the hot chocolate was basically warm milk and the coffee was alright. Carrot cake average too.
D. M.
Nice setup, great location. Got the breakfast, sausages were well over done but the rest were exceptional. Accommodating staff. Good selection of teas and coffees, cakes et al.
S. P.
Great coffee, nice to sit outside eventho it was cold, great location on the cycle paths during a socially distanced walk and catch up with a friend.
W. R.
Nice food, bit pricey. I had Bhaji Salad and Chai tea. Four little bhajis on a bed of Indian sliced slaw and mixed leaf salad, with a flat bread on the side. Fresh tasting salad. The bhajis were soft rather than crispy, and lightly golden rather than dark brown. Relaxed and attentive, friendly staff. Chilled atmosphere. 😊
E. A.
Nice cakes, in a good portion. Cool design and nice outdoor space.
R. T.
Would have visited yonks ago if I knew it wasn't vegetarian. Nice open cafe on the cycle path with plenty of outdoor seating. They do cooked breakfasts.
W. B.
Great place to visit with the dogs. Food is good, staff very friendly. If outside, just watch for the seagulls who can be prone to swoop when people vacate their tables!
A. B.
I love this cafe! It's a great place to sit and chill out and I can't get enough of the cakes!! (Good vegan cakes)
J. P.
Love this cafe! They have my favourite tea, rooibos, which is a real treat and we loved the polenta cake!
M. B.
Very cute place but way overpriced. 3.30 for a latte but they have no syrup. 6 pounds for a flatbread that was as flat as paper. Nah man. Nah.
h. n.
Great food, fantastic location just of the cycling path. Dogs dock outside and children toys on the corner. Staff are friendly and breakfast is really nice.
T.
Fantastic cafe with delicious food! Lots of outside seating which is perfect for beautiful days spent slurping tea, eating cake and reading your favourite book.
L. S.
Nice cafe, worth a trip off the beaten track. Good for brunch and great scones. Outdoor seating and water bowls for doggies.
R. K.
Superb food, outstanding service, dog bowls and dog treats. Super child friendly. Perfect spot for a quick yet relaxing lunch.
D. R.
Simple minimal yet warm place by the cycle path. Nice sandwiches
R. W.
Good coffee and excellent scones. Nice indoor and outdoor seating spaces.
T. F. L.
Nice coffee & cake and friendly service, but for the tiny cardboard cup & miniscule slice it was very overpriced.
S.
Delicious coffee, professional and friendly service. New manager is a wee gem. Will definitely be back, for some food this time 😁
B. D.
Fresh minimalist, 'white appearance' in a modern angular building, featuring interesting architecture. Great range of cakes etc. Views of live clay work - as cage if part of an art studio. On Edinburgh former railway pedestrian network...
J.
