Popped in here for a bit of brunch over the bank holiday. Wide menu with a lot of choices - some of the pricing a bit unclear. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. As it has an open kitchen on the main floor, the moment we walked in one of the chefs kept staring at us, laughed at us, and also kept giving filthy looks at us. Not entirely sure why as I had never encountered him before but he seemed rather rude. It’s fine if you’re desperate for something to eat but I doubt I’d go again.

Had some lunch here whilst out and about in Edinburgh. Had been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally found myself on that side of town. Food was good, pizza was nice and thin and packed with flavour. Coffee was good too, I had the cappuccino. Only slight criticism would be when we arrived we stood at the marker that indicated we should wait to be seated and 2 serving staff both asked us if it was a table for 2 and when that was confirmed they replied with "ok" then carried on with whatever they were doing. This didn't seem to be serving other customers, so left us standing about not really sure what was expected of us for a while. In the end we seated ourselves. Overall the food and coffee were good so the rest can be written off fairly easily.

From the get go, very welcoming and friendly staff! Even though they were quite busy the staff did a fantastic job at managing everything really well. The atmosphere was very relaxing and I would highly recommend this place, suitable for those looking to dine out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and even desserts too! The food was delicious and arrived quite promptly, only downside is that the prices are slightly excessive for the portions you get. Suitable for those with dietary requirements and also families with kids, plenty of indoor seating too.

I popped in here on Saturday night at about 8.30pm while waiting for my family to come out of The Playhouse. It was very lively, with staff and customers in good spirits and even some impromptu dancing. I had a large cappuccino and a cannolo siciliano. Both were very good and the bill came to about £7. I enjoyed it so much I came back the next morning with my family for some breakfast.

Such delightful authentic Italian food and service in very Italian style. Absolutely scrumptious warm goats cheese salad augmented by artichokes walnuts balsamic and of course warm sourdough. All washed down with a tasty swig of........good ole Scottish tap water. And the icing in the cake. Under a tenner for my meal. Thank you esp to Roberta wi served me with a genuine smile, warmth and of course Milanese accent.

I ordered spaghetti carbonara. It was very creamy and tasty. A bit greasy in the end for me but I guess it’s just personal preference. The staff were very friendly and helpful even when the restaurant was extremely busy. Didn’t like the crowded environment though, but not a big deal.

Today I had one bad experience which was disappointing because this was the first restaurant I ever visited when I visited Edinburgh. It was also the first restaurant I have ever brought family and friends that visited because it's always amazing. I am not going to judge it on one bad experience. The owners do care about the restaurant and after sending them an email I got a very long response an hour later in the evening. I do not think a corporate company would care about their restaurant like that and I respect that. But 1 bad experience in 50 or so visits is not a way to judge this place. My bad experience was nothing to do with the food. Of course the food was amazing as always. Why would I recommend this place. Because unlike other restaurants they let you do half and half with pasta and pizza for 2 people. This allows you to try 2 different meals and I promise you it's worth it. The italian fried meetball in rice, I do not know the name of it but it is to die for. I would recommend getting it with your mains. Totally worth it. But if you think the food is too much they always offer to put it in a doggy bag for you.

I really love their smoked salmon penne, it is a cheap and huge portion! However, the taste can be quite inconsistent sometimes. My second visit did not fare as well as my first, but it could be due to the crowd then. Service wasn’t very good during my visits as well.

Great food as always. Service was very good. One minor niggle with a desert was apologised to with a complimentary liqueur. Our choices were fairly standard, veggie tagliatelle and polpecine ( meatballs) with side salad but done to a great quality. Not our first visit by any means, we come a few times a year, and we've enjoyed every one. Highly recommended. Chill out and enjoy good tasty food.

Five stars all the way for this little gem of a place. Visited the other night with a friend and her very fussy young son and the chef was only too willing to go off the menu to give the little boy his favourite dish (pesto pasta). Good food and the staff working there are really friendly and helpful, especially Amalia. I am a carer and today I was with my client over there to enjoy a cup of coffee and cake when, all of a sudden, my client had a seizure and she was really responsive and helpful when I asked her to call an ambulance. They made sure that both me and my client were ok until the ambulance arrived. If I could give a million stars for the service, I would certainly give it.

My husband picked up a late dinner and a quick breakfast from Taste of Italy for takeout. He had the Lasagna and I had a Panini. Neither were anything special. Tasteless Tiramisu in a tiny plastic cup. Breakfast was a standard Egg and Bacon Sandwich with a Cappuccino. After reading the other reviews, I was disappointed.

This restaurant is local to us and we often pop in for an impromptu lunch or dinner. Unfortunately for us, the menu seems to have recently changed and there is not as much choice for vegetarians or vegans. We used to love the simple chilli and garlic pasta and veggie pizzas. Now, there is no veggie calzone and only the Marguerita pizza for vegetarians. Only 2 veggie pasta dishes too. A real shame, and we'll be going elsewhere until the menu has more choice. Dessert was a small waffle with half a sliced banana and a drizzle of chocolate sauce, which was also underwhelming for the price.

Super lovely tasty food. Service polite & helpful but a little slower than you might hope for a cafe type place. (10 mins queueing outside is fair enough in these COVID times, but 10 mins after being seated even though I'd read the menu a dozen times while queueing and could have ordered as soon as I sat down, and another 20 mins til it arrived even though it was just a toasted sandwich from the counter and a cup of soup from the pot, felt a bit slow).

Quite simply one of the best places to eat in Edinburgh. Great food, great prices, great service, great staff. I highly recommend the Penne Calabrese and Penne Puttanesca. The half litre of red is optional of course but at less than 9 quid it would be rude not to:) Bellissimo!

This place is a little gem. An excellent no nonsense Italian kitchen. It does all of the basics very well the ingredients are fresh tasty and the cooking is excellent. The prices offer very good value for money. The house white wine I tried was light crisp and zesty and complimented my pasta perfectly. The staff are friendly and the whole experience is great in an unpretentious manner. Try it.

Decent enough place with good price and selection. Seems like a cozy spot to enjoy a bite, and nice takeaway boxes as well. The waiters were nice, only complaint is I just couldn't get their attention somehow. A group of people that came after me was led to a table, while I had to wait a bit more before I ended up having to approach them myself. Another group also came in while I was waiting for my food, and they also stood around awkwardly for a bit before being paid any notice... Nothing major, just awkward lol. (Just read past reviews and realized loads of complaints were made regarding the service... so I guess one star less for not really improving)

Brilliant Italian food, fast service and serving late in a diner style restaurant. We walked in on a Friday night without a reservation and it was busy but they found room for us. Nice clean place with some great sandwhiches including chicken, pesto and mozzarella and a scrumptious Italian Apple cake. The price is affordable and the quality of the food is excellent. As travelling is pricey would definitely recommend this place if you want to watch the pennies but want to eat well. It's located less than 10 minutes from the city centre. Coffee is lovely as well. If you're tired of drinking the normal high street drab that's shoved down your throat pay them a visit.

I ordered the 'Vesuvio' pizza from Taste of Italy, with some loaded fries, for delivery via Uber Eats. The food was quite tasty, fairly priced and the portion servings are generous. There was a little too much of the gloopy cheese sauce poured over the fries but perhaps that's a matter of taste.

Want to say the food is lovely and i have been a couple of times now, but my last visit the female member of staff with dark hair was really rude. You cant pre book and its small there was 5 of us, and we were made to feel like an inconvenience, there is no where to really wait while being seating but we stayed very much out of the way but the member of staff made it clear to those who came in after that their tables would be delayed as she had a table of 5 to seat first! i tried to say we would be fine splitting the party but was met with an abrupt response of 'i know what im doing with regards to how to seat everyone!'. I could feel myself getting embarrassed and as we had tickets to the lion king next door didn't really have a chance to go anywhere else. We were seated after 25 mins which wasnt an issue at all the service while waiting was the reason for the low score.

Unfortunately the young lady serving us was unpleasant, never once smiled and actually made us think we were a nuisance being there. It was only about a four pound difference but I don't see why I should have to pay extra for something I didn't want .. And only went along becuase they'd already charged me for my original order.. I should have noticed this but mac N Cheese is usually veggie friendly so I didn't really think about it. I'm sure I could have ordered it without the ham etc if I had noticed but I was home before I realised. Partner enjoyed his cheeseburger and the restaurant looked nice.

I think this place is a bit of a hidden gem. I've been a couple of times and this small Italian restaurant (a short walk from the Playhouse) impresses me every time particularly due to its value for money. The food rivals far more upmarket Italians but at a price friendlier to your wallet. From outside it may not look that special with modern decor whilst still being ever so slightly naff, but looks can be deceiving. The Pesto dish they offer is particularly excellent, the staff are friendly and attendant and the atmosphere is welcoming. A great Italian at any price, but particularly so if you want to treat yourself without busting the bank. Recommended.

The universal appeal of pizza and pasta really is incredible. Both are enjoyed the world over and often prove to be fail-safes when there’s nothing else on the menu that takes your fancy. Taste of Italy does both pizza and pasta really well. There’s a good selection of flavours on both sides, portions are generous and the price points are incredibly good value for money. There are your classics – penne with tomato and basil sauce and the firm-favourite margherita pizza – but there are also some less conventional, but equally delicious flavour combinations. A personal favourite of mine is fusilli pasta with chicken, courgettes, tomato and gorgonzola. The drinks list is small but perfectly formed. Italian beer is available on tap, and there is only one wine, the house, to choose from. This establishment has a very canteen-like feel, but it suits the authentic dishes, and really does provide you with a true taste of Italy.

I remember the Bronx Diner fondly I couldn't believe when I heard it was gone, in its place is a modern clean diner with helpful friendly staff and a great range of food the fifth star would be if this was still the Bronx.
