Reviews of Gordon Street Coffee
A. F.
My fave coffee spot in Glasgow.Their house and Glasgow roast are phenomenal.Service is A+++,they gave us a taste before we purchased a bag of whole beans.
🌺must try for coffee lovers
A. S.
Had to come through Center Station everyday for a week & so glad to find this coffee roaster. They let u use your own cup so that was great.
J. T.
Extremely conveniently situated coffee shop right next to Glasgow Central Station. The two baristas were extremely friendly and accommodating. The payment method failed three times due to issues with the card machine and they settled on giving us our drinks for free.
The presence of the live train times visible at the seating area was incredibley useful, as you can enjoy your coffee and see which platform you need to head to simultaneously. Very helpful, and a nice way to spend our last few hours in Glasgow. Highly recommend!
K. S.
Oh my god I don’t know where to start with this coffee house. I’m a coffee lover and I definitely fell in love with this place. They roast their own coffee in the house and you can see the whole process. The coffee is amazing, the baristas are always very kind and friendly. Also don’t forget to give a try to their treats, so delicious and vegan options. And they sell their coffee too so you should consider buy some.
The prices are also very very good for the quality they serve.
D. C.
Great coffee, thoroughly recommended and you should try out some of the many beans on offer to buy
C. C.
I regularly use the online shop to order 1kg bags of ground coffee delivered to my door. Always quick delivery and on the one occasion there was a mishap with my order, my correct order was on my doorstep the very next day. Great service and delicious coffee. Thanks to all the GSC team!
A. M.
Great wee coffee shop. Just outside Central Station - on Gordon st.
Smiles from staff the minuye we entered. Quick service.
P. E.
This was a quirky, unique cafe and roastery next to central station in Glasgow.
I liked the little extra touches here with the menu (wee for small!) and the free water with grapefruit. Also the art and decor was unique and full of imagination. The coffee itself was really well prepared and tasted great and there was a good selection of cakes and food on offer.
I was really impressed by the server, who didn't catch the name of, but had dreadlocks but was really cheerful, and chatty, and made the whole experience way better.
Would definitely return again when back in Glasgow. Ideal location for those catching trains.
P. B.
Awesome coffee shop on the corner of the entrance to Glasgow Central Station.
Small sitting area upstairs.
Fabulous coffee, cakes and sandwiches available, loads of vegan stuff.
Roastery on site so you can grab a bag of your favourite blend too.
M. P.
*Excellent* coffee - roasted on-prem. Also munchies.
So yeah, the coffee is really that good. To be precise, the espresso is *excellent*, and about as good as you'd get at your average joint in Italy (which means it is *good*).
It's basically counter-service, or you can head upstairs where they roast their coffee, to sit at a small handful of tables there.
There are munchies to be had - good sandwiches, and all sorts of pastry-like fare, most of it quite good too.
If you're in the 'hood, and you need coffee, you could do far worse...
S. C.
nice enough, warm comfortable and coffee was tasty.. my roll and square didn't really taste fresh, probably from being made earlier, doesn't take long to fry a tattie scone to order rather than over cooked and then kept warm.. like the sausage and I do prefer a softer bread roll, but overall, a pleasant experience while I waited for my train.
t. t.
Can't rate this place highly enough the coffee is great. And the foods good too. Cakes to die for vegetarian too. That's how good it is just go.... And they roast they're own beans as well.
M. C.
Best coffee we have had in a good while. We had their Glasgow Roast and it was lovely, strong without being bitter. Their croissants were good too. Staff very friendly. Glasgow folk are lucky to have this place.
F. I. P.
New discovery in town. Very recommended for those coffee lovers. Nice taste and smell.
H.
Nice place to just relax before catching the train, a good asthestic, reasonable prices and classic cofe shop music that made the whole experience enjoyable, there were also charging points which was handy for those extra few percents before a journey, they also had there own coffee grinding machine which really added to the atomsphere (and noise) but it was very cool and an awesome feature to have. They also sold coffee blends if anyone is interested, overall would recommend as just a good warming coffee house :)
G. G.
The hot chocolate was amazing and the breakfast rolls were great! I usually go here for my morning hot choc when I'm in Glasgow
E. M.
Great coffee nice seating area if killing time for a train . Great staff
P. M.
Great quality coffee and vegan sweet and savoury options - I go for tattie scone roll with Linda McCartney sausages but they do vegan cheese and haggis and jackfruit, too. Nice selection of vegan sweets including a fantastic blueberry croissant.
A. B.
One of the best coffee’s of my current lifetime
I. M.
Excellent coffee that's a step above the big name stores.
T. P.
Best coffee and cinnamon swirls in all of Glasgow. The queue and wait around rush hour can take a while but worth it if you have time, it’s probably even worth it to leave the house a bit earlier to make time for it. :)
A.
Speciality coffee roasted in house (on mezzanine floor). Great to grab and go, a bit busy for sit downs. Loved the vegan blueberry croissant. Staff very knowledgable about coffee so do ask them about their beans etc if you wanna learn
M. A.
Good tea and coffee, very convenient if you want a tea/coffee to take on the train, friendly staff.
D. C.
I had an americano made with Glasgow beans. It was pleasing experience, rich and strong coffee. My other half had cappuccino made with house beans, coffee was tasty but the cappuccino was wet. Other than that I could only recommend this place.
K. M.
Great coffee and really handy for Waverley station if you fancy going for a nice independent coffee shop rather than the run of the mill stuff you get at Pret or Costa inside the train station.
J. O.
Cracking coffee and good cakes. There is no much place to sit though.
It's noisy, small and everything you eat is good quality. Just like in Italy or Spain!
Try the Glasgow roast for excellent espresso 😀
A. I.
Nice atmosphere and good coffee. Perfect if you want to meet someone who's arriving in Glasgow by train.
I. M.
Gordon At coffee always delivers. The Glasgow Roast is delicious and the size of the slice of square sausage in my morning roll this morning bumped this from a 4 to a 5 star review! (Edit. Picture of my morning roll!)
B. G.
Friendly staff, perfect flat white in a lovely setting. Many bags of coffee beans available. Will be heading back again soon.
T. J. L.
Best coffee in Glasgow. My first stop when I get into Glasgow Central!
C. H.
The coffee here is so far the best in Glasgow that I've tried. I recommend the Glasgow Roast. It's really smooth. They also l have a selection of baked good, breakfast rolls and vegan options.
Located just outside Glasgow Central Station. Clean establishment, friendly staff. Would recommend.
N. A.
I'm difficult to impress and let's admit it - I had made up my mind before I even went in.. something along the lines "What should one expect from a train station cafe? It's bad enough that coffee in UK tastes like dishwasher liquid..."
And was I impressed?!
- Yes! the quality of coffee is great! So pleased to discover this little not even "well hidden" gem! (If only criticism- not enough sitting places)
M. U.
Probably the best coffee in Scotland, with great service as you anxiously ponder missing your train
U.
One of my favourite coffee shops ever, always pop in as I go past.
The Glasgow Roast coffee both in bagged form (that you can take home) or brewed in store is incredible.
Lots of great vegan options, cakes and food/juice too and coffee accessories.
5/5
S. J.
Nice place if you are an your way through Glasgow Central Station. Lovely staff and drinks/pastries.
E. M.
nice coffee stop quiet seating area and close to the station
k. d.
Love this place. Kindest of staff really chilled vibe. Can't give it high enough praise. Great coffee fab staff delicious cakes.
All good 😄
L. K.
Lovely coffee and friendly staff 😊👍
R. E.
Very friendly staff, great coffee at very reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.
.. s.
Good selection of freshly roasted coffee beans.
D. H.
This place has a great selection of food, baked goods and coffee; it's great for a wee catch-up at Central Station whether you're coming or going. Still a great place ever since it's opening
S. M.
I come here at minimum 3x when I visit Glasgow. It's the best coffee in the city, wonderful crew of people, and I love the people watching.
A. “. H.
Good independent feeling coffee shop right in the entrance of the train station. It can get super busy, but there’s a reason: good coffee. Well worth stopping by instead of some of the bigger name coffee chains in the station itself.
There’s some seating upstairs, not massive but usually a seat or two available
S. B.
I wouldn't judge them on their cups of coffee, as they're very busy, and if you're looking for an incredible cup you need so go an artisan coffee shop with less footfall so they have more time to craft each cup, but this is still very good. However, they are definitely the best place for a wide range of lovely in-house roasted beans. I buy a bag each week for house and one for office and every week choose a different one. Their loyalty scheme is great too where you get every 8th bag free.
R. P.
The coffee wasn't great and was really expensive but the staff are lovely. People smoking at the tables just outside the front door which is really off putting too.
A. B.
Great coffee! After a 3 1/2 hour train trip from Manchester, I was ready for a decent coffee, and I found it here. This frozen Aussie was made to feel very welcome. Staff are very friendly as well. If I'm ever in Glasgow again, I'll be back.
S. W.
Nice coffee in one of what it feels like the very few independent coffee shops right in the very city centre that is dominated by the chains. Considering the amount of great independent ones in other parts of the city and surrounding areas and towns the centre feels like a bit out of place.
Coffee was strong and nice, if a wee bit on the cool side (milk could have been steamed a bit longer I'd suspect)
Didn't eat anything but it had a large selection of cakes ect of which a lot were vegan I noticed for the people that matters too.
Would happily go back
B. B.
One of the best in Glasgow! The coffee is dark and robust plus the breakfast is decently priced and delicious. Sometimes there can be a bit of a line but it’s worth the wait.
Get your beans here too, whether ground or whole bean you can choose from a great selection. Also ask staff if you’d like your beans coarse or fine, they can grind it for you in house.
At the end of the day, if you don’t like real coffee and prefer Starbucks or Costa or Tinderbox then go there, but don’t complain about real coffee. Gordon Street Coffee makes real good coffee!
G. D.
Fab coffee place. We didn't have the coffee but the tea was delicious. As was the tuna sweetcorn sub roll. Fab customer service too. Give the chains a miss and make a beeline for this place.
M. G.
The coffee was delicious and was kindly served. I've visited this place to kill the time with work until I move on, and this has revealed a little need to upgrade the place: more and properly grounded charging places. Currently, the grounding is not the best and this circumstance along with the steel-edged - standing - desk is not the best combination.
I. M.
Love this place! Miss stopping in for a coffee on the way to work since I now don't go through Central Station. Tried their new range of vegan cakes the other day and they were amazing! Staff always quick to check an allergen for me, and coffee is always amazing!
d. l.
Convenient to have decent coffee right at the station. Inside is nice, clean with nice upstairs seating in front of their roaster, plenty of outside seating too. Good quality espresso drinks and very nice to have a couple of single origin filter coffees as well. Retail beans pretty good most of the time.
L. M.
honestly the best cup of coffee you'll get in Glasgow. the coffee shop roasts its own coffee with two signature blends to chose from - the house blend or the stronger, darker Glasgow Roast (my favourite of the two) to sit in or take away with a discount if you bring your own keep-cup. the roastery also produces a number of other blends and single origin roasts which are available to buy for a reasonable price. the coffee provides vegan non-milk alternatives including oat and almond. the shop also offers a range of vegan, veggie, and non-veggie food - hot or cold. the seating is limited and can be very busy during rush hours however is a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere when sat considering how busy the shop is. favourite thing about the shop is the staff, always super friendly and down to earth - couldn't ask for better. 10/10
S. W.
A wonderful coffee outlet situated in the entrance of Glasgow Central Station. Better than average choice of coffees teas sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Offers a take away service to satisfy commuters. Good selection of coffee to brew at home either as beans or ground to your requirements. Well worth a visit.
M. B. (.
The staff are so nice, and the venue itself is cozy and well lit. I really appreciated them having banners up on transgender support day, as one of my friends is trans. I think that the act of putting up that banner kind of exemplifies what I feel is nicest about this place - compassion. The staff are empathetic. The coffee's really great too.
R.
Great local coffee place, they make their own blends and the 'Glasgow' one is especially nice. There are some more seats upstairs but a pity the location doesn't offer more seating space than the limited number available as it can be difficult getting a table if you're planning on sitting in. Although most people do get an order to go since it's so central to the stations that seating is only really an issue at especially busy times. Would recommend trying if you're in the area!
J. S.
Excellent coffee and carrot cake
A. M.
Yummy vegan biscuit and gluten free brownie. Nice staff and clean place
C. H.
Great coffee. Nothing more to say here.
E. C.
Great coffee, nice and strong!!
D. T.
Best coffee I've had in years. Beats every "chain" by miles. Gluten Free cake available also. Belting. 5Star.
F. M.
This is an excellent independent coffee shop. First and foremost, the coffee is excellent. If you like coffee, you will like their coffee. There is a good selection of food available. The prices are very reasonable indeed - in fact, some of the coffee prices are downright cheap, particularly considering the high quality. Very highly recommended.
S. D.
Great indie spot amongst the many chains. They even roast their own beans.
C. B.
Great smell of roasting coffee beans as you approach. Spoilt by the smell of tobacco from the Central Station smokers and te urine from the drunks the night before using the chip shop window as a toilet. Great coffee and service, wrong location.
r.
Splendid! The coffee in here is always on point and the roast tastes like no where else. Will always return. Bravo!
A. S.
Great coffee, selection of cakes and softs. Price on point. Roaster in public view on the mezzanine floor too which is super cool!
J. L.
It was great to find this independent coffee shop nestled by Glasgow Central station. The range of beans and blends they have on offer is fantastic and the staff are super friendly.
R. M.
Great place. Really good coffee, in quiet area, relatively easy parking, staff are friendly. Altogether, the vibe of the place is great for socializing and reading. One caveat, I have not tried the food ...
j. s.
Lovely coffee shop. Best coffee in Glasgow. Only one problem. You can't sit outside because of people smoking. Some are customers . Some are from the station. Disgusting 😠😢
A. W.
Nice inside with good selection of coffee and a stronger 'Glasgow roast'. Cakes mainly vegan- very nice. You can watch them grind the coffee upstairs
J. H.
Fantastic prices, charismatic charm and great Glaswegian coffee contribute to a long list of positive attributes for this friendly coffee place. Whilst the sandwiches have rightly been described as eclectic the selection of pastries and in particular the Millionaires Shortbread are to die for.
j. M.
Really nice coffee and friendly staff. Good selection of cakes and snacks including some vegan options.
Also sells bags of coffee to take away.
J. M.
Great value bags of coffee. The Glasgow Roast is my daily driver.
A. K.
Best coffee in Glasgow. Fight me.
K. K.
always plus to have independent coffee shop on station :) we didn't really enjoy the cakes.. they look much better than they actually are..way too sweet and weird taste.. but it's just another opinion..
G. L.
Gordon Street Coffee provided me with breakfast rolls and excellent coffee three mornings in a row while I was in Glasgow for a conference. If only my home city's mainline stations could boast such excellence in their coffee provision I'd be a much happier Londoner.
A. G.
Very tasty coffee and nice selection of cakes, in a convenient location. I particularly like their layer opening hours for when I need to plough on with some work in the evening.
A. O.
Nice cosy upstairs to drink coffee whilst keeping an eye out for train departures & arrivals. More relaxing than the concourse. Disabled toilet with baby change, accessible at street level. A few seats at street level, but probably a bit chilly during the winter.
A. M.
Excellent location, train info on screens for convenience, fab coffee and great breakfast rolls. Friendly staff and great value for money. A great start or end point on your trip to/from Glasgow.
A. M.
Great staff and great coffee
P. H.
Coffee was ok, friendly service and free water with oranges.
M. S.
Great coffee, really high quality espresso, also had a flat white which was really well made and the service was friendly and quick.
S.
A great place to buy coffee, just outside Central Station. You can sit in or take away. That also sell coffee beans (preground) for you to use at work or at home.
J. S.
Wish I could give it 10 stars: this coffee was outstanding! It's roasted 10 yards away, so it's about as fresh as it gets... best coffee I have ever had...
J. B.
Brilliant coffee and polite staff.....👍🏻
P. K.
Great coffee and cakes. Decor is spot on for my hipster aspirations 😂
G. M.
Coffee is fantastic, however their filled rolls? Day1 roll and sausage and black pudding with brown sauce - black pudding was below the sausage. So wrong!
Day 2 same roll request this time sausage was below the black pudding but the sauce was below the sausage. Really? Cmon guys you are ruining it for me. Day3 roll square sausage and haggis with brown sauce. Argggggghhhhhhh!!!! The sauce is on the bottom AGAIN! SERIOUSLY! ! !
Well it's Friday so my roll had sauce top n bottom. Nothing like going the extra mile for your customer.
J. C.
Loved the coffee and the place looks very nice. Limited spacing but it is a railway coffee shop. Was great to see the bean roaster in action
D. P.
I have been drinking their own in-house roasted Glasgow Roast Blend for many years, I buy a kilo bag at a time and it is beautiful stuff.
J. C.
Always good coffee here and the staff is lovely, I’m so glad they are just by the station it’s perfect for a coffee fix!
J. M.
Great coffee and love how they roast the coffee beans upstairs.
A. P.
Love the Glasgow Roast with oat milk
B. B.
Stellar Americano. Great espresso pull. Very high caffeine level (if that's your thing). Kind and generous staff.
B. H.
Great coffee. Glasgow blend worth the extra 20 pence. Fantastic selection of treats to go with your coffee.
C. M.
Great coffee shop roasting there own beans in store. Great selection of food available. Don't pass it by.
B. B.
Best coffee in Glasgow. Nice decor, handy location and staff are friendly. Does get quite busy at times though!
A. A.
Comfortable, cosy, warm, dimly lit and quiet. Friendly staff and great tasting beverages. Only qualm is that the drinks are often not hot and instead just very warm/hot for 30 seconds.
S. V. G.
One of the best coffee shops in Glasgow, great service. They also do some tasty morning rolls and snacks during the day.
I. D.
Excellent food and coffee, couldn't be more central and you can see the Coffe being roasted upstairs as well!
G. C.
Best coffee in Glasgow. - we travel from Edinburgh to buy beans.
They do a wicked flat white (and lovely marshmallows)
S. H.
Favourite coffee in the city centre and always friendly fast paced service!
J. E.
Best coffee (flat white) I've had in Glasgow, and one of best I've had anywhere. Breakfast bap was top notch as well.
A. J.
Very good team here and the coffee is arguably the best in Glasgow, must try the Edinburgh branch when I’m next through.
D.
Good coffee, excellent selection of tasty things to snack on - the cinnamon buns today were the best I've ever had.
M. M.
Lovely coffee, friendly staff. Good place to nip in a get a coffee on the way into or out of Central Station.
P. T. O.
There's something about this place which gives a good buzz - perhaps the interior decoration, perhaps the station crowd - and the nice espressos and their irresistible aroma on a crisp chilly morning
M.
Probably the best coffee in Glasgow. Great place to buy all sorts of ground coffee. Excellent home made cakes.
C. C.
Lovely staff and flavourful brews
G. D.
Worth the walk down and back up to Buchanan St bus station for the 🥐 and cappuccino here
P. B.
Excellent independent coffee roaster and shop. They also sell the coffee in bags for you to take home. Superb food as well!
F. C.
Love this coffee shop
Just outside Glasgow Central if you pay a visit you have got to try their own Glasgow Blend, or buy some to take home
J. G.
Could be great, but coffee quality drops at busy periods. Plus a bit more expensive than I think it's worth.
A. W.
My favourite coffee shop in Glasgow, service is excellent, as is the coffee. Always get a cheeky banter when I go in. Love it!!!
E. C.
Really really nice coffee! NZ level coffee! Staff were super nice too with great recommendations. LOVED IT.
c.
Cakes lovely. Coffee not really hot enough & a barrista who handles the cups with her fingers inside them loses a couple of points.
C.
Nice and small coffee shop. Good atmosphere. Unfortunately our coffees were tepid.
M. M.
Got a lovely coffee there this morning. Staff friendly
J. D.
A great coffee shop in the centre of town. However what makes it even better is that you can buy their coffee, which is roasted in small batches on site.
A. C.
Brilliant wee indie coffee shop. Roasts all its beans in house and its good gear too. Staff are lovely also.
A. C.
Exquisite coffee like nowhere else in Glasgow. I fully recommend their Glasgow Roasted. Powerful stuff!
P. T.
Definitely the place to grab your coffee on the way to your train, or work, or just because you came into Glasgow city center for a good cup of coffee
D. M.
Decent coffee, food is good and staff are pleasant
K. L.
Great coffee and cakes. Recommend, not just if you're waiting on the train.
D. M.
Always friendly staff, great banter, and the coffee/food is always top notch. I walk further from my work just to stop in here; they’re all fab.
A. T.
Great coffee shop, give the chains at the station a miss and get here instead. Also do beans to take away.
K.
The coffee is great, the only downside is the small size of the drinks.
L. M.
Amazing coffee! Their house blend is the best in the city.
C. E. (. B.
The "Darker Glasgow blend" sums it up; proper local roast, excellent cakes too, all done with panache
D. M.
One of the best places in Glasgow to buy a coffee, either made for you or beans to take away.
F. B.
Cute wee place. Friendly staff. Cups little small for the price but good tasting coffee.
E. B.

P. R.
Place was really busy I had a flat white which was fantastic and service was great with a smile too. A rare thing these days.

First class - ask for the "Glasgow roast" - worth the extra 30p imho. seating upstairs. They even have roasting sessions, with Diedre, the roaster machine upstairs :)

Coffee tastes great, but the regular size is tiny.
