Reviews of Scran
A. C.
Our first experience in this (very) cozy cafe was really brilliant!
I recommend to go early because they have few sits and it’s constantly busy. In any case we were welcomed by a very kind server, Phoebe, who helped us to make our choice (they changed the menu recently).
The coffee was well made and was tasty. It was heavy on the syrup, but I appreciated it.
The portion of the food was abundant but everything was very tasty. My favourite was the shrimp while my friend preferred the bayou bowl. The bayou bowl was nice and warm, which was great for a chilly day.
The value for the price was great, and the service was quite fast, considering there were just 2 people working in the front.
We will return back for sure!

Live only 5 minutes away but finally tried Scran for the first time this week and oh my god it is AMAZING!!!
Food was outstanding but the customer service was even better!
Girl serving us on Saturday was so attentive and such a wonderful attitude!
Will now definitely be our new regular spot 💛

Flipping amazing. Great service and the food was impeccable.
We had the shrimp roll, bayou bowl and halloumi loaded fries. (They're a generous portion so you may be taking them away with you like I did)

Best breakfast I've had in my life, gorgeous and fresh food with lovely staff who were warm, welcoming and gave the perfect recommendations for first timers like myself and my friend (pictured: scampi roll and eggs benedict). The gift shop next door was the perfect way to pass the wait time for a table, which ended up being available far earlier than anticipated. Will definitely be returning to sample the rest of the menu next time I visit Glasgow.

We went on a miserable day and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The food was delicious and so was their coffee. Would recommend!
G. S.
1st time at Scran, the food and coffee was brilliant. Waitress was very helpful and patient with a menu dither like me. Would easily recommend this place to anybody 👍
M. W.
Was in here earlier for the first time to get a takeaway - heard a lot about it and wanted to try it.
Was busy inside, which is nice to see - also the staff were welcoming and helpful. Had to wait a few minutes, which was fine as I assumed it would be made from scratch.
I got the Burger fries and a can of Diet Coke for £7 odd. Decent portion, but in my eyes a little bit pricey for what it was - it would've been nice if it included a salad. I don't think I would get it again, I would however go back and try something else.
L. S.
Really enjoyed my visit. It was my 1st time and I'll definitely be back. Coffee was good, food was good and even got a wee cake to takeaway. Staff were very friendly. Can't wait to try the loaded fries next time, they looked amazing 👌😍

Decided to try Scran after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures on here and it did not disappoint. Easily the best brunch I’ve ever had. Lunching with 2 small children in prams and high chairs can be stressful and you often feel like a hindrance…. Not here, staff were so welcoming and did all they could to accommodate us in the space they have 👌 10/10 will definitely be back.

Finally managed to try this place out, good service, the staff is friendly and approachable. Unfortunately you cannot book nor preorder so there is a bit of a wait all the time, hence why it took me so long to actually try the food even though I am local. The pictures are the royalish egg and scran roll, nice food and well arranged plates, good coffee too.
D. K.
OMG. 3 of us for lunch and the food was amazing. Staff accommodated some specific menu adjustments (french toast with bacon AND nutella!). Confit duck with black pudding and egg on a toasted Brioche was proper good brunch/lunch fodder, and the hot shrimp roll was a good vegetarian alternative.

First day at the new location on my second trip to Glasgow.
Had the Eggs Benedict with the Stornaway Black Pudding. Put it this way - I’m sat in another restaurant now, with a roll of black pudding in an online basket so I can attempt the same amazing breakfast at home… Highly recommended!
A. A.
I enjoyed going to Dennistoun branch. I was sad they closed but then I am happy they opened again in different place. Definitely I will go and enjoy the food again. I used to eat halloumi bun and order it many times. Also I liked hazelnut latte. Also toast with tomatoes and cheese was delicious. I recommend this coffee.
S. F.
Came here after a friend's recommendation and we absolutely loved it!
We tried the savory French toast and the poached eggs. Both were excellent and full of taste. Fresh ingredients and the price it's cheap for the quality you get!
Staff is excellent and really helpful.
Highly recommended!!

Oh my god. I have been for soooooo long wanting some where decent to go to that does amazing menu of food for reasonable prices that's local. I am one of those people that always have to travel afar for good food but not any more by the way. Not any more. This place Scranton Alexandra parade in Glasgow has funny opening times but oh my god people support this place cos the food they are putting out is utterly amazing. It's tasty. It's non greasy. It's very reasonable price. The staff certainly appeared happy at their job. I am a returning customer to this place. Please visit when your in glasgow
G. T.
The best square sausage I've ever had in my life.
But literally everything off the menu is 5 star - never had a bad experience ever!
Truly blessed to have this on our doorstep but it's worth the journey too.
G. F.
Nice spot of lunch, great veggie options as you'll see the halloumi bun was ordered! Burger fries were immense with the secret sauce and cheese and obviously burger bits! Ferrari rocher hot chocolate was something else. A bit of an intimate venue with only a few tables but even if you have to wait for a table it'll be worth it! Definitely worth a visit and I'll be back!
L. C.
Lovely breakfast - first day in new location and you couldn’t tell they’ve moved! Would def recommend 😊
G. F.
We came here for a takeaway breakfast one Sunday. It was busy inside but the staff were lovely and explained the takeaway process well.
We got fries, rolls and coffees. My halloumi fries were lovely - the hot sauce is absolutely delicious. My husband got the burger fries and loved them.
The rolls were nice but it’s hard to spruce up something you could definitely make at home. My potato scone looked like it hadn’t really been cooked (maybe it’s a personal preference thing) but everything else was nice enough.
I will definitely come back here and will likely change my mind on the 4 stars - everyone else seems to rave about it so think it was just my choice of roll letting me down!
E. T.
Indulgent brunch with the family. Busy place so waited a short time for a table but the friendly staff took our number and sent a text when the table was ready, so we were able to have a stroll in the park nearby. My eggs Stornaway was cooked perfectly but I had food envy for “Nonna’s eggs”. The burger scran fries were greedily devoured by everyone at the table - totally OTT but delicious
V. C.
Best brunch place we went to in Glasgow! Huge portions for very little money!
The guy working there (forgot his name sorry) is a delight! He is super helpful and happy to be at you service! Coffee is good as well!
The food: amazing!

1st time at Scran. We had halloumi bun and bean toasties. It was delicious and prefect for a veggie brunch. Definitely recommend. The service was great 👍🏾
D. B.
Worth any wait time (if you have the patience for queues). Scran is an absolute delight of an establishment, today was our second time here and I dont believe theres a better brunch place in glasgow, certainly not in the east end. The stornaway stack is a dream (add a potato scent to it, you'll thank me later) and the nonnas eggs are packed full of flavour. Honestly man, 15/10.
C. S.
Amazing little cafe with simplistic but stunning food on the menu. Were so lucky to have the gem on our doorstep but wouldn't think twice about travelling to it if it wasn't. Homemade empire biscuits are to die for!
D.
Best brunch in Glasgow. Enjoyed the Gourmet Bun with confit duck and black pudding on my last visit. Good selection of cakes and do a great flat white too.
S. S.
What a fantastic little spot! We stopped in with our dog to grab some sandwiches to go and were given such a warm welcome. The avocado sandwich - with added fried egg - was totally delicious, on amazing fresh bread. Lovely flat white too. Can't fault the place and already looking for an excuse to go back.
C. B.
Lovely food and friendly service. Good selection of poached eggs on toast, sandwiches, rolls, and more. Reasonably priced as well. We'll be back!
A. M.
WOW! My friend that I was visiting took me to Scran and it may have been the best breakfast of my life. DELICIOUS. Thanks Scran - your boss !
P. I.
A cozy little cafe in the East End of Glasgow that offers amazing service, delicious food and tasty coffee.
Highly recomend to anyone looking for tasty grub and value for money.
h.
Absolutely love having this gem on my doorstep. Staff are extremely friendly and professional. Food is always delicious.
J. M.
Not much you can say other than the best halloumi bun you can get and nonna/burger fries are so tasty! Well managed and efficient service as well given circumstances.
F. A.
Actually proper tasty food unlike the majority of brunch places around Glasgow that are popular for who knows what reason!
E. M.
Really nice wee cafe and very kind friendly staff who look like they genuinely enjoy working there which created a nice relaxing friendly atmosphere for customers. Nothing was too much trouble and even though it started to get busy and I was sitting alone at a table they did not make me feel rushed at all. They are dog friendly and my wee pup was very comfortable and happy and had enough space to sit or lie on the floor next to the table without getting in anyones way and got some water in a bowl which was very kind. The cauliflower soup was extremely good and was served with some bread. The delicious sprinkley bits on top of the soup were a nice touch!! Other customers in the cafe food looked incredible as well and I definitely want to come back to try some of those things! :) thank you
R. M.
The best rolls in the city! Lovely hot chocolate and lovely service 💗
S. M.
Their food is as good as it gets and always beautifully presented!! Really friendly staff, great wee spot!!
A. W.
Fancied a couple of decent Scottish breakfast rolls and so glad I tried here. Will be back.
G. M.
A relaxed modern cafe and brunch place that’s rightfully considered a legend in the East End. Great food, faultless friendly service and very reasonable prices. Always packed, but never feels crowded or rushed. Love it.
M. P.
Really tasty food (the porchetta special was fantastic) and great service, would definitely recommend a visit
L. F.
Had an amazing breakfast here - their eggs Florentine with balsamic tomatoes was absolutely delicious, top notch! Will be back for sure 😃
G. M.
I'll slap 5 starts on it because it did exceed expectations. The toasties were amazing and the burger fries were... Well... Massive.
I'll be back.
W. O.
Fantastic place, great coffee, super tasty food and the staff is lovely
D. A.
My favourite place for breakfast/brunch and lunch. Great options available and all the food I've tried there is delicious and high quality. As well as the breakfast/ brunch options, their range of desserts are impossible to resist! The staff are fantastic. Been served a few times by Mel, who is lovely and a great asset for the place. All the staff are brilliant; attentive, helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
M. G.
Lovely place, lovely service, tremendous lunch. The Bayou Bowl in particular was outstanding
C.
Great wee place.. We've been once for food and it was amazing.. The best breakfast/brunch food I've had in a long time. Perfectly poached eggs and really good hollandaise sauce (I've never tried it before this time so I can compare to others), but it just tasted so good! We will def be back!
C. M.
Great food, atmosphere & staff, high quality breakfast fare with a bit of flair. Food looks exactly like the photos, care and detail in everything that comes out the kitchen, even the coffee. 10 seats inside (groupings of 2) first come first served, 2 outside tables too. Nice queueing system outside with a good pace. Does eat in and take away, worth a stop, I will be back.
Oh aye and if you just want a coffee the come out and query the queue.
D. B.
Oh scran what can be said?
I don't believe words can be put in to what flavour means. What amazing coffee taste like or even what amazing staff they have.
Scran is not just a hidden gem of the Eastend of Glasgow, But one of the great hidden gems of Scotland.
You really need to try it to believe it.
P. W.
Unreal. First time in after eyeing it for years on the socials and had the pastrami toastie and it was a piece of heaven in my mouth!
R. J.
Okay so you may need to wait if you visit during peak lunch time, but surely that's a good sign and it is! The staff are very attentive of the queue so you definitely do not feel ignored, you can see them working their hardest to work through the queue. The food is amazing. The combination of ingredients in their food just comes together and is super tasty. Definitely give this a try you'll not be disappointed!
P. K.
Walked by this place a number of times. Raging with myself. Went here today and it's "awesome"!!!
S. M.
Been in a couple of times, food and service is excellent. What can you say .... Scrantastic !!
B. H.
Fantastic brunch, my favourite burger fries
C. C.
I haven't tried their food (yet) but their coffee is the most delicious I've tasted. I normally like a milky coffee but I go light on the milk so as I can get the taste. Very lovely staff too.
R. B.
The best brunch you can get anywhere, Glasgow or otherwise. Frequently changing specials and the usual menu is consistently tasty.
H. F.
I must be one of the few people who doesn’t rave about this place but I wanted to share an honest review. Firstly the food in here is good, it’s not bad, I just don’t think it it worth the hype. I went when the venue was open but operating under social distancing which all worked well and the staff were pleasant and friendly - no complaints on that front, I am glad that the business is still operating under trying conditions. I really wanted to love the food here, I adore Mesa on Duke street so I was hoping that this place would same if not better. My partner ordered a full breakfast type dish which he said was ok, but nothing special. I ordered eggs florentine type of dish which came with heirloom tomatoes in a balsamic marinade. Unfortunately the tomatoes were so disgusting I couldn’t eat them and it sort of ruined the rest of the dish as I felt sick after eating them. I’m not a fussy eater and I love balsamic vinegar and all of the other ingredients. This experience has put me off the place as I don’t want to pay £25+ for an underwhelming breakfast that makes me want to vomit. Sorry Scran!
B. M.
Oh yes….lovely breakfast today! Beast from the East, Scran roll & classic French toast were delicious - enough said!
A. P.
Have just devoured the Gourmet Breakfast Bun, Stornoway black pudding- check, confit duck leg - check- whole load of other goodies loaded on- check. Worth every damn penny for such a sublime brunch. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.
J. L.
Mmmmmmmm. White chocolate peanut butter and jelly blondie! Very nice food here.
A. E.
Great place to go for breakfast/brunch or for lunch. The Stornoway eggs and the French toast are really well prepared and always taste amazing. Portion sizes are good and the coffees is nice. They also have a nice range of specials.
The only downside is it is a very small place so it can be hard to get a seat if you go at peak lunch time. It would also be nice if it was open some evenings.
H.
Stop what you are doing and wait in the queue for food here. I don't think anything more needs to be said, scrantacular.
S. L.
Excellent food! Highly recommended.
S. D.
Honestly amazing. Friendly staff and excellent food. Menu is a bit limited if you don't like eggs but then again the burger fries are one of the best things on the menu. Excellent and varied specials. Great value for money.
It's always busy so you might have to wait a bit for a table but trust me, it's worth it.
D. L.
Excellent visit. Staff were very welcoming. I wasn't really hungry. So we asked for a sandwich and a portion of fries between us. This wasn't a problem and the portion was huge. The chicken sandwich on sour dough bread was delicious. The Tai fries were spicy and moreish. Along with two soft drinks it all came to £12.25. the equivalent of two McDonald's. The food was fresh and well presented. Wish I took a picture. Will be back again
J. H.
Really good food, really well cooked, with really good service. Only downside is that the place is so small, but I suppose that's part of why it feels so homely and comfortable. I do feel a little uncomfortable if I'm waiting for a table right in front of people who are eating; I worry that they feel they should rush. And nobody should rush this food! If should be enjoyed!
M. M.
Delicious, good value dishes - best for breakfast/brunch. Fantastic weekly specials that mix up some of the classics like poached eggs on rye or french toast with brilliant combinations of continental accompaniments like polish sauerkraut. Very friendly staff, amazing coffee. 10/10.
R. B.
Just been for my first visit. The staff were so friendly, and efficient. It was busy buy they made time to take care of us.
The food was amazing too.
P. B.
Dog friendly.
Absolutely top drawer, faultless breakfast.
Incredible poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, so much flavour, everything cooked to perfection.
Specials available at the weekend.
Only 4 tables available inside so get in early if you want a seat or you’ll be queuing round the corner.
Take away menu too.
Very well done 👏🏻
J. M.
Amazing food, lovely staff , highly recommended!! First visit and very pleasantly surprised, fantastic quaint cafe with very welcoming staff and delicious homemade cakes 🤘🏼❤ can't wait to revisit soon 😋
J. B.
My favourite breakfast in Glasgow hands down, the menu choice is perfect and there's always great specials on. As well as the amazing food, lovely staff and great tunes the Scran team are all great with my little dog who loves to visit Scran as much as I do!!! Great job guys, keep being awesome. It's top marks from me & Rio :)
J. C.
I love this place! The food is amazing, especially their creative sausage rolls on Fridays. The service is wonderful and friendly and they have adapted very well to the covid situation, recommend to all!
E. T.
The original, one and only, the best! They say he is a feeder, food for your soul, fills your heart. Service that makes you feel at home with friends. Can’t get enough ♥️
A. S.
Love the food in this establishment. Always fresh and full of flavour. When sitting in for a meal, service can be sometimes hit and miss, but the food quality is always great.
P. A.
Amazing food and coffee. Great addition to dennistoun.
P. G.
If you are in need of good, honest, perfectly prepared, simple fare and a great cup of coffee this spot is ideal. Small in size but big in quality and personality. More like a cafe than a bistro but none the worse for that.
S. E.
Amazing cafe. Fabulous staff and the food is even better!
D. F.
What they're doing with the small menu they have is incredible. Fully recommended but be prepared to wait as there's always a queue out the door for a table! They could quite easily excel in a bigger cafe! Keep an eye on the specials
D. M.
Amazing wee cafe. A real hidden gem. Will definitely be back as we enjoyed everything and left with take away cakes because we couldn’t resist!
C. D.
Excellent quality of ingredients cooked brilliantly and served with great customer service! Worth a short trip out of the city centre and then nice to walk back over towards the Necropolis/cathedral and then Drygate brewery. Highly recommend!
A. S.
Seen so many good reviews on Instagram so had to go along and try it for myself, was not disappointed! great coffee, amazing food, super fresh produce, the prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the food, the staff are super friendly without being over the top or in your face, it's nice and bright inside and really clean, definitely worth a visit.
J. L. B.
Food and service were incredible!
D. P.
Food was really nice, high quality and tasty. Certainly more expensive but you do get something good for your money. I would recommend, and will definitely be back.
M. K.
Pretty much the best breakfast and lunch food you can get in the city, always 10/10. Special shout to the Scran Roll, add some egg to make it even better
C. B. (. B.
Scran was first class.
A wee Gem of a shop.
Food served like s 5 star hotel.
Polite friendly staff who are happy to engage in a wee chat and just as happy to let you get on with enjoying their amazing food in peace whilst listening to their music playing in the back ground.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The best brunch in Glasgow
D. J.
Great food, great staff, child friendly. The special of the day is always worth trying. As it's a small place, seating is slightly tough to get, but the staff make it a cosy atmosphere once you are seated.
I. W.
Really nice Brunch, great tunes, reasonable banter and good coffee
J. W.
Really busy when we arrived, but they took our name and phone number and let us know when a table was ready. The food was really good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Will defo be back!

L. C.
Food fantastic, staff really friendly
R. B.
Can always rely on great food from Scran
M. M.
Small cafe that also does takeaway. Had mixed fortunes with food from here.
A portion of Scran fries had a foreign object in it on one occasion. The kitchen closes approximately 30 mins before the scheduled cafe closing time so timing is key.
E. M.
Love Scran. The food is amazing and the staff are really lovely. It's a tight squeeze so try to get down when it's not likely going to be busy. That being said it's busy most the time!
M. S.
I was at the Scran today with family it was first class I was able to get Gluten Free staff very friendly will definitely go back
J. L.
Food is off the scale at Scran! Pastrami toasties and mac cheese are some of the best that Glasgow has on offer.
E. B.
Food is amazing will certainly be back.
G. T.
After many people had recommended Scran, we I found myself in the East end on a Sunday, decided to go in for a quick bite. Service was excellent and I felt as safe as I could in a small space like that, high hygiene standard demonstrated from the lovely team (all of them had their masks on at all times, so extra points for that!). The girl who served our food was bubbly and kind, so if I had to rate based on service only, it would be 5/5. I was prepared for the rustic/hipster ambiance, and although this is far from my scene, the interior is nice. They offer a range of hot drinks, which we didn't try as we had a quick hot choc elsewhere while waiting for a tabe to free up; here is another huge well done to the team - they don't take reservations but their waiting list is efficiently managed, so top points for that. I love eggs Benedict and have had them in more places than I can count, so I was excited to try theirs after I had heard a few people and social media foodies rave Scran's. Here is where I was slightly disappointed - they serve them on sourdough. I didn't want to offend the chef by asking if they could do an English muffin (or even a brioche bun) instead, so decided to try something new and go with the deviation. As expected, I didn't like the toast (it was very dry and hard) however the Hollandaise and presentation were eggcelent! Luckily, we ordered their burger fries to share and oh my! They're great, sauce is excellent, and a very generous portion size. Totally worth the trip to the East end! My partner wanted to try the pastarmi toastie, they didn't have it (we were last customers on a Sunday afternoon) and they were very apologetic about it, but it still took away from the 5 stars.
C. C.
Flavoursome beyond belief. Service of the highest order. Reasonably priced and dog friendly.
J. G.
Food was great. Service was good and quick. Need to wait during peak times but will text you when your table is coming up.
M. S.
Super small menu that is always diverse in choice. I was also able to bring the kids with me which was a bonus. My fav place in Glasgow to grab a coffee.
M.
I'm not a fan of the poncy egg stuff but I've had pretty much everything else on the menu and it's always spot on
D. I.
Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food is incredible; try the eggs Benedict and Nona's loaded fries.
