This is a great little place that I’ve been going to for over 17 years. It’s changed names over the years but it’s still a lovely place to visit. I always feel comfortable going on my own and I can just sit and read sand enjoy a coffe or a cake. Their sandwiches are great! Over the years the place has been upgraded and even made a few tweaks for Covid with screens but it’s never lost its character.

Coffee and cake perfectly pleasant. Disappointed to experience no female only toilets. Male toilet still in existence, female one turned "unisex/baby change" with female livery posted over. If men need to change their children consider putting in baby change facilities in the male toilet. Upsetting that no single sex space available for women and girls. Also was dirty.

Exactly what I want from a coffee shop. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good coffee, great scones. Tables are well spaced out and cleaned between customers. Free Wi-Fi. Only downsides: The water dispenser is too close to customer seating. Parking in Shawlands is a nightmare.

This place hasn't changed much since I was at school. It's cosy, familiar, family friendly, serves great bites and lovely drinks. They do this chocolate orange cake that tastes like a huge jaffa cake, get that. They also do amazing nachos bowls, get that too! Staff are always so sweet too.

Location is okay. Entrance easily accessible. Nice back garden where you can bring young kids go play. There is free customer WiFi. Good table service, the majority of the staff is nice. But a big downgrade for me is the expensive prices considering the not so good quality of food/drink there. Overall an okay place to meetup with friends or grab a quick bite.

I went to Spill The Beans mid-morning on a week day and stood at the "please don't go any further until shown to your seat" sign, only to be told by a staff member that I would be better joining the queue to be served which I found confusing. The person serving me didn't wear a face covering and seemed to struggle to hear me through my face covering when taking my details which meant I took longer to order than usual. I ordered a coffee and sat outside to wait for a friend, and we were often interrupted by staff who didn't seem to know who had ordered what. There was a constant queue which was great to see for a local business, but there seemed to be a delay between folk being served and seated and customers were struggling to socially distance from each other on the pavement. I used the customer toilets before I left and there were no hand towels left, and the bathroom floor was soaked, which put me off coming back - it seemed like the toilets weren't being cleaned or checked often despite the amount of customers using the cafe and the instructions asking customers to use the hand towels supplied (when they had run out!). I hope to visit again soon but would prefer to see a one way system in place, a better queuing system in place, cleaner toilets, and a smile on the staff members' faces would make a massive difference next time.

This is a great coffee shop :) Its open super late - brilliant for catching up with folk without going for a drink! It has a super cute outdoor patio space at the back as well as seating out front. The cakes and coffee are lovely and always a nice mix of sandwiches and soups. Very reasonably priced too.

Love this coffee shop, they have a large selection of delicious food and great coffee. The staff are great and are always up for a bit of.banter even if it's busy. Unlike many local coffee shops their tables are spaced out so you don't feel on top of other punters plus its doggie friendly with enough space for your dog to be comfortable at your feet.

Visited in August and due to COVID19, this was first time since March I'd been out to meet a pal for coffee. Sitting outside here was just the ticket, relaxed, clean and decent canopies above giving shelter and an extra rich of class. Needed a bit more guidance on arrival; from the outside the COVID19 system wasn't clear to a newbie; initially couldn't work out if the Q was take away with a different Q going on internally. Also my friend's coat was nearly soaked by dripping hanging basket, not easy for them to notice due to visual impairment! But yeah, decent coffee, nice place.

I go here far too much but the reasons why are solid. The staff are fantastic and so friendly. The food is great and homely. I'll always recommend chilli nachos but split between 2 unless you're super hungry as they're decent sized portions with plenty of topping. Since the renovations the place is so much warmer and it's easy to sit for a good few hours. Dogs are welcome here if you're happy with distracting the staff! 😂😊

Delicious, hearty bowl of soup but star off for the ridiculous queue system whereby you queue for a table and then again to place your order so could end up back outside in the cold waiting to order. Seemed mad. 2 separate queues needed or table service like Hug next door.

This place is unusual around here not because the coffee is amazing. It isnt. It is fine but nothing special. The reason this place is noteworthty is space. In the southside eateries and cafes are characterized as being small and over crowded -difficult to find a seat. So if you are in a group this is a good place you can sit together and chat without standing or waiting usually.

Very comfy, reasonably priced. Good selection of coffees and teas. Soya, almond milk and decaff coffee available too. I am not exactly a coffee aficionado, so I can't really comment as to the the quality of the coffee- I like a good cuppa tea! But I have heard more than a few people say how good the coffee is Wifi is good and you can pretty much surf to your hearts content, they don't put a limit to the amount of time you can use. Staff always ready to go the extra mile to make sure your visit is a good one. Would definitely recommend any of the soups as the owner of the shop makes them herself and not only are they delicious, but they are packed full of goodness. The pizzas are also very popular, again they are handmade in store and great value for money. It does get quite busy at lunch times, but there is plenty of seating, just be prepared for a bit of hustle and bustle

Modern, clean, bright, child and wheelchair friendly, it used to be a comfortable relaxed and laid back coffee shop - nothing too fancy or pretentious, however it has recently been given a sort of unsympathetic beastly bistro make-over - which has the same result as putting a slash of postbox red lipstick and a pair of shorties shorts on your gran. Things to love the coffee, pizzas, banter, and location, things to avoid - any of the frequently over grilled panini, nouveau staff and the wobbly toilet in the gents - For mellow beans I'd recommended trying Bell and Felix, Cafe Strange Brew and Locavore in a southside heartbeat. True other officianado have given "Knock Over the Heinz" 5 stars - to which I respond 5 stars - my a**se.
