Reviews of Spoon Cafe and External Caterer

A nice wee place that is also a social enterprise and equal-opportunity employer. Handy for the High Court, and service is reasonably quick. Portions were slightly small but prices were reasonable. Soup and New York deli sandwich were good. Coffee could be better.

Nice coffee for cut the hunger on the lunch time, with a baked potatoes or a nice sandwich. All this can be joined with one delightful smoothie ! 👌

Lovely cafe with yummy food, a bright space and a team with an important mission to help people in need, with learning disabilities or suffering from social isolation.

Incredible little secret Glasgow has in this little gem. Stunning café, incredible food (made with love and would recommend the Ploughman's) and amazing staff that cannot do enough for you. This is an employability and community charity project, so also has a Pay It Forward option as well.

THought would give the place a try on travels. Think its third sector type cafe creating jobs and training. The staff friendy good service and place was clean and tidy. Roll sausage and coffee ordered was fine. Its cheap place for food and drinks nice little cafe give it try.

Upon arriving after an overnight coach trip I was greeted with a very warm welcome. The chap serving me was an excellent host and the food and coffee were delicious. Upon leaving we spoke about myself and my travels as the chap seemed very interested. Couldn't of asked for a better experience just after arriving in glasgow for the very first time. 5* will definitely revisit if I'm ever in the area again. Thank you again gentleman, I'm terribly sorry I do not remember your name.

Nice place to go for a coffee and the New York sandwich was great. You don't feel rushed which is a good thing. Only bad point was the lentil soup which seemed watered down. There was a large group of us so we think they may have not have had enough soup and added water to make it spread but in doing so ruined the taste. Better just to say you have no lentil soup and offer an alternative.

This place has a great concept with their pay it forward approach. Your donations/gratuities go towards customers who are less able to pay for their own meals. The food is very cheap, tastes good, but is very "no frills" - no fluff, no big sides, just small portions of whatever you order.

Had a wee spot of lunch in here today, good sandwiches and soup. Very fairly priced, and the service was great, they also went out of their way to ensure there were no issues with our specific dietary requirements.
Great ethos with respect to social enterprise and paying it forward.

Staff were busy but friendly. Food was good. There is a pay forward scheme to allow you to leave cash so the homeless can get a meal/hot drink paid for from the kitty. I loved it and will be back. Wheelchair accessible.

Had the pleasure of eating there with some friends after the All under one banner march for Independence. Food was beautifully presented wholesome and fresh and best of all you have a choice of leaving extra cash to feed the homeless. An absolutely fantastic idea

Very good food, friendly staff. Good for the community too
L. R.
A great little cafe with a good heart, offering a 'Pay it Forward' scheme to provide free meals to homeless people We arrived very late for breakfast when most of the options had been scoffed, but met an incredibly helpful response and a delicious improvised breakfast was concocted for us. Fast and friendly service.

A fantastic not for profit community enterprise and cosy but classy cafe. Food was was of a high standard and all home cooked. I would have paid much more than was charged for the quality of the food. There is an option to pay in front which means you can leave a donation to pay for someone else to eat.

This is a great place and well worth a visit if you're in the Merchant city area. The food is great and good value for money. The staff are very friendly and attentive. It's a fair trade and community run cafe with a real ethical stance. 5 out of 5- I'd give it 6 if I could

We had a bacon roll and fruit scone. The scone was fine but not great. The bacon roll was very tasty, the roll fresh and light the bacon also very good. Two coffees were very nice.

I've eaten here several times and have usually found it to be good value with helpful staff.
On a recent lunchtime visit, however, I waited 20 minutes and still no one had come to take my order. This was despite me going to the till on arrival to make sure they knew I was there, showing them where I would sit and then going back to the till after 10 minutes to ask if I could place an order and being assured someone would be right with me. I'll probably go back and hope this was a one off.
Thanks to the business owner for replying. Google don't seem to offer an option for me to reply to you so I've edited this review. It was 26th March 1252-1315 (according to my Google location timeline). Hope this helps?

Nice venue, but the full Scottish breakfast was quite a let down. Scrambled eggs wasn't great and the Sausages were a little under cooked.
H. M.
Really nice wee place. Can substitute gluten free bread for toasties and sandwiches. You can also pay it forward and leave some money which goes towards hot drinks and meals for those who need it

A great cafe with a good range of food available. Very reasonable prices. I love the option of a half sandwich with a bowl of soup for lunch. Thoroughly recommended.

Met my friend here for coffee, a great wee place and run by charities, it was nice to see people with disabilities serving and having a nice place to work in. We'll definitely be meeting here in future. Try it if you've not been

Fantastic little cafe. Good selection of food and drink at probably the best prices in the city. Save money and contribute to a social enterprise, can't be better than that.
E. H.

One of the few budget cafes in the city centre, providing traditional, healthy food and cakes as well as usual teas and coffees. Downstairs toilets bit of a trek.

Great community cafe. Super friendly service, spotlessly clean & great value. Plus it supports local charity. What's not to like
B. M.
Would recommend but the baked potato I ordered wasn't warm and the cheese wasn't melted still support the idea of a community cafe that's pays a proper wage to staff
