Reviews of The Blitz 1940s Tea Room
J. H.
Hands down the service was superb! Just outstanding, and we didn’t have a reservation. They were so accommodating. The owners are about the nicest people and they lightened up our visit so much! The tea room itself is like a little history museum. So much to see and enjoy while you enjoy your cup of tea. They decorated the tea room with such a great taste of vintage stuff. We got cream tea and it was served very nice. By the way, they got so many cute tea sets!

Went today for a sandwich with my little girl. Staff are absolutely wonderful, they really made an effort to make everyone feel welcome! We each ordered a sandwich which were really well made and they cut my daughters in to little squares for her which was a lovely touch! She kept telling me how much she loved it. Tea was served in a beautiful tea pot with a lovely teacup. The decor was so interesting, it really is a lovely place!

Booked a table in advance and the gentleman we spoke with was really nice. Arrived and was amazed at the whole atmosphere of the place... the decoration and the music teleports your mind into that era. The owners who greeted us were amazing too! They were so warm and welcoming that it will turn your day around (I had a bad morning and being at The Blitz completely changed my mood for tue day)
We won a cream tea for 2 voucher and one of the owners explained to us what that entails and so attentive to you as well when they take your orders. We were quite hungry so we thought the scone will not be enough for us (boy! were we wrong-more on that later) so we ordered tuna & sweetcorn and coronation chicken sandwiches- the bread was so thick and they were not shy on the filling either! It was so fresh and delicious! We were quite content. Then it was time for the cream tea- and i was surprised by the size on the scone.. it was a struggle finishing it off. Don't get me wrong it was delicious! It was so tasty and if i wasnt so stuffed would have ordered another one.. they were generous on the cream and jam too!
It was such an amazing visit and will definitely come back to town just for food here.
Would highly recommend to everyone!

We had a voucher for cream tea and decided to add some sandwiches for lunch too. The tea rooms are so nicely decorated. Being situated in an older building as well was like a real step back in time.
The customer service was absolutely amazing by our two hosts. The food portions were plentiful, tastey and attention to detail was spot on.
I would whole heartedly recommend the Blitz tearoom to anyone looking for a snack, lunch and generally great experience!
We will definately be back, with friends and family too ❤

Probably the best team room experience in my opinion. ❤️ This place is soooo cool, the owner(s) are about the nicest people I've had the chance to meet while in Ipswich, so attentive to detail and overall just so overwhelmed by how nice we were treated on our visit. Pretty cool theme and we just don't have enough words to describe how happy we were to have stumbled upon this nice little tea rooms. 11/10 stars!

A wonderful place to catch up with people while eating delicious food! The team are so kind, friendly and helpful. They have created a fantastic atmosphere. There's no rushing, just calm and time to enjoy your food and drink. Highly recommend!

Fantastic setting for an afternoon tea (or big fat elevenses, as we had) Clive and Adam are the perfect hosts, with the perfect blend of attentive service and leaving us to it. Lush chocolate cake and fabulous cream tea - particularly enjoyed the very camp custard cups containing ample jam and clotted cream. Large pots of loose leaf tea, happily refilled with hot water, meant we could really savour the experience. Super decor, proper linen tablecloths and fine bone china, and in a location between the town centre and the waterfront. Thoroughly recommended.

Brilliant friendly place. Lovely coffees and teas. Cakes and food very yummy. 1940s items very interesting to look at, great photos, metal posters, wooden items, brilliant photography. The building is beautiful and a jem of Ipswich.

I went with my friend a couple of weeks ago, and absolutely loved it! I love the 1940s and WW2 so this was the perfect place!! The setting was perfect and themed exactly like it would have as a cafe in 1940 Britain! EXCELLENT SERVICE! Food and drink was DELICIOUS!! A very vintage themed style menu too! 5/5 stars! Very kind people who have great interests! (Also would be a great cafe for a film set as the rooms are different themed!)
M. S.
A great place to visit and a great place to eat! The place really is like going back in time and is totally cool just to see. It should be used as a movie set! There are different themed rooms, all very cutely and classically decorated from furniture and decorations from that period of time.
The staff are extremely nice, and the food was delicious. I really recommend in particular the cake deserts which were fabulous.
When we entered, we were given a tour of the place which was worth it just for that experience, and it got better from there.
I would really recommend visiting dining, or just having coffee and cake.
T. B.
Absolutely fantastic to go back in time & the food was so good lam going back Monday & the two gentlemen that run it make you feel so welcome & so friendly best tea room I've been to 💯👌🏼

Stopped here for a quick cup of tea with the family. Ended up having full afternoon tea. The service was perfect and they were all so friendly and attentive. The food is amazing especially the sausage roll. The themeing is brilliant. A lovely afternoon with good food, good service in a really wonderful building. Thank you so much. I will be back and I will recommend to everyone.

Visited for the first time yesterday with our niece and nephew . Wonderful owners and food . Certainly won’t be our last visit. Will certainly bring a photo of my grandad in to be hung on the wall x
L. C.
Amazing place, with fantastic service.
Adam and Clive are so welcoming and make the experience magical.
I can spend all day looking around at all the war memorabilia.
If you are near to Ipswich and want the best afternoon tea around, do not miss this place.
O. T.
Absolutely lovely place!!! Came there for impressions, and got both: tasty food and interesting atmosphere))) And of course staff, so nice and helpfull. Lemon cake highly recommended) Thanks so-so much!)
J. K.
My partner and I went for afternoon cake and ended up trying their sausage roll too. The chocolate cake was lovely, not sickly at all, the lemon cake was amazing too. But omg the warm sausage roll was to die for! 100% recommend this cafe

An absolute hidden gem! This place is something else, my daughter and I visited today, we were treated like royalty! We had tea for two and cheese scones, there was more then enough tea and the scones were cheesy and very filling! Beautiful precious items on display, this place also comes across as a little museum, the owners were lush and treated us so well, we felt very welcomed, was nice to hear the owner also has some of his own family pics on display!! Cant wait to visit again soon....and just to add the only 1 bad thing was the fact I nearly walked out without paying!! Haha!! Thank you again! This place is superb x
A. L.
A lovely experience. Very friendly staff and a good selection of food. Sandwiches have a good amount of filling. It's lovely being served tea in 1940 China and a treat having tea leaves. Very authentic place. I will certainly be going back
T. b.
Been in there once before and this was my first solo time , they are amazing. I had the egg and cress sandwich , Victoria sponge and tea for one and they honestly filled me up enough for lunch and dinner. The two lovely gentlemen who are your waiters always greet with a smile and lovely conversation as well as amazing music from the UK 1940’s radio station , all the antiques are real and beautiful! Each time I’ve gone I’ve had the best experience plus very affordable.
c. w.
Was fantastic, I really enjoyed my lunch, beautiful surroundings, very friendly staff, live music, really made my day
B. K.
A lovely place, all floors are themed, photos are copies of genuine ones lent, very friendly staff and the service was good. Had lovely soup and bread and butter, tea in a big pot, very posh. Only drawback, not 1040s prices. 😆😂
S. B. (.
Run by a lovely couple who have put a lot of time and thought into their project. Came away with a fuzzy warmth that only comes with actual happiness. Had some lovely conversations with one of the guys and he is one of those people who instantly puts you at ease. He appeared to be genuinely interested in getting to know us and spending time with us and he explained that he has a background in the funeral service which shows in his kind manner and his listening skills. The food and drink was lovely and very reasonably priced. A small piece of history brought in to the modern day. I actually didn't want to leave and step back into the real world. A lovely place to unwind and switch off from the world.
Still amazing guys, thank you for a lovely afternoon!
W. D.
Highly recommend! Clive & Adam are very welcoming and will bring you back in time with their decorations and stories, food and drinks are fabulous. It’s a tearoom and museum in one!
L. L.
The name says it all. WW II themed tea room with photos, posters, pictures and bone China crockery. Music played appropriate to the era. Plain but delicious fare and all served with a friendly chat. Love it!
A. R. K.
Took my Mum and Auntie to the tearooms today. Great food, great hosts and a real 1940’s feel to the place. Thoroughly enjoyed by all and we will certainly be visiting again.

Beautiful 1940s cafe with memorabillia everywhere. Customers donate to them. The owners are very welcoming & couldnt do enough for you. They also do gluten free food.
K. (. M.
Lovely place to have a hot cup coffee surround by a cozy 1940s theme rooms. The people running the Café are brilliant and super friendly. They are interested in the local military history in the surrounding areas which it's great! The food is delicious, portions are good and the carrot & walnut cake is amazing!
Definitely will be going back to visit them
J. D.

If I could mark the Blitz at more than five stars I would! I was treated to afternoon tea for my birthday -and walking through the door I felt welcomed immediately.
Very friendly owners, fabulous surroundings - you need to walk round and see the different rooms, and the food was amazing.
I love afternoon tea, and have eaten many, and this was truly one of the best ever - sausage rolls especially tasty, the scones were huge and portions of jam and cream the same. We had to ask for a doggy bag for the cakes, as we couldn't manage them.
Tea pots replenished without having to ask - do go and try for yourself, you won't be disappointed. We'll certainly be visiting again before too long (shame I don't live a little nearer)
R. B.

A completely gorgeous café with great food and wonderful staff. I'm from Sweden here on vacation and I was received so well, they were more than happy to explain the items on the menu that I didn't quite understand.
The best café experience I've ever had and I my only wish is that you could open shop in Stockholm!!
P. D.
Thankyou chaps, for a wonderful experience. The food and cakes were gorgeous, and you both were so passionate about your business. Would recommend to anyone for visit to your tea rooms. We will certainly be returning back.

Absolutely amazing! From the moment you enter ,to the moment you reluctantly leave. Unhurried, perfectly hosted, and simple ,but delicious menu that's brought to life by the presentation ,from the table ,to the kitchen. You can see that even the drinks are made with care and consideration. Nothing tacky or overdone but plenty of memorabilia to give authenticity.
I'm already booked for afternoon tea !! Well done boys..the best thing about the town I'd say

A special friend treated us to afternoon tea at The Blitz 1940's tea room and what a treat it was. The atmosphere and memorabilia make it more than just a tea room, it's a step back in time.
The food was divine, beautifully presented on beautiful china and plenty of it. The tea and coffee pots are regularly replenished.
Adam is a superb host, perfect balance of being attentive but leaving you to enjoy the afternoon.
Well done to you both, can't wait to come back xx

I enjoyed it's unique setting, good old fashion tea service, friendly staff and the Creamed tea was lovely ☕👍great themed War time cafe, good if you appreciate military or war time settings
K. B.
I was very happy to discover this lovely tea room when shopping in Ipswich. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I hadn't booked but think I was lucky as they were quite busy. They had a small selection of gluten free options and were able to make gf sandwiches too. One of the best things for me was that you get enough tea in a decent sized pot to have several cups. I wish I lived closer but I'll visit again next time I'm in Ipswich. My granddaughter enjoyed it too :)

Highly recommend visiting here. Gorgeous little place with genuine attentive service and lovely scones with cream and jam and loose leaf tea. The officers mess and parlour upstairs transports you back to the 1940’s with perfect accompanying music in the background. I’ll defo be returning. I felt like a resistance spy on a tea break before heading off to decode a message- it really did transport me back :)

Lovely tea room to visit. Tons to look at, in fact its almost like an interactive museum! Worth a visit if you are interested in that period of history or even just a place that's a bit different from the run of the mill coffee places. The owners are very friendly and welcoming too.
