Reviews of Golden Acre Park Cafe
M. A.
Lovely little cafe to sit and have lunch in after strolling around the park. They have baby changing facilities, too (if you need 'em). I had the hot dog with chilli & cheese and proper loved it. My wife had the bacon, brie & cranberry panini and also loved it.
There's free parking just the other side of Otley Road with a pedestrian underpass. And the park itself is beautiful, as well.
D. M.
Visited whilst in the area, glad we did. Cafe is well stocked with delicious cakes & hot food. Coffee is good.
The gardens are beautiful with lots of bird life around the Lake. Worth a trip if you are in the area.
P. R.
Good selection of food, cakes and drinks, whether sitting inside or outside. Friendly staff and just what you need after a good walk.
T. C.
Nice clean place surrounded by a lovely big park gardens and pond.
We really enjoyed the food... the tuna melt panini and salad I had yesterday for lunch was the best I've ever had anywhere! 😋
We've visited the park and cafe twice in the last year and never been disappointed in the food, drinks and service provided.
Excellent customer service too, as I noticed when I got home yesterday after visiting the park that on my online bank statement I was overcharged by £22 so I rang them to explain that we was overcharged.
They apologised for the mistake and sorted it out promptly by refunding us what they overcharged and also offered us drinks.
C. S.
The girls in the cafe are amazing, professional, polite and work very well as a team. While queueing I witnessed a rude customer who was being served. The staff were polite and dealt with the customer perfectly. They were SO busy and were all working well together. So organised. Their knowledge of gluten free food was vast and the gluten free range was very impressive.
M. L.
It really is a super park to visit , 28 & 30 years ago we brought our children and now it's our grandchildren. Lovely walk around the lake with offshoots so you can have a bit of an adventure plus a lovely cafe.
The park is well maintained and litter free with a decent car park but at the weekend it is very busy.
No hesitation in recommending.

Love Golden acre Park. I am a regular visitor. I took my children when they were young. (Now in their 20's and30's) I now walk my dog there. I discovered Paul's pond only recently through the Breary marsh woodland and stream. There are the lovely formal gardens and wild flower meadows in season. The beautiful lake where you will find wild water birds, nature reserve and yet more woodland. Perfect for families and dogs. A lovely cafe and a kiosk. Today there was a live band playing jazz in the cafe. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
B. R.
Wonderful park. Lake, gardens and woods. Dogs, under control, allowed off leads. Cafe serving light lunches and teas. Easy parking at top and bottom of park. Good for families.
T. V.
Popped in for a coffee during a visit to Golden Acre Park. The café itself is quite utilitarian but pleasant enough. The serving area could do with reorganising as the counter is right in front of the door so the entrance area immediately become congested once a few people are queuing.
They offer the usual hot drinks and light meals and snacks but the latte was from a machine rather than “bean to cup” but it was still ok.
T. K.
I highly recommend a beautiful place for a family walk. Great parking on both sides of the park. I recommend with all my heart
M. L.
Delicious cakes and scones. Friendly staff. Terrace has lovely views of park.
R. B.
Liked it a lot. Lovely gardens, pleasant friendly staff and a great cafe. Will definitely go again.
J. B.
Lovely cafe. Quite pricey ,2 bottles of coke and 2 icepops for kids cost nearly 8 pound. However since its refurbishment so much more room better for push chair access.
D. D.
Friendly staff, great customer service. Very clean and tidy cafe. Not over busy.
c. p.
Lovely walk in woods. Tea and chat in comfortable surroundings!
I. G.
Nice cafe, served reasonably quickly on a quiet rainy day. Plenty of seating inside and out. The car park could do with making bigger nearby, I can imagine in better weather not being able to get a space. Park lovely.
C.
Great cafe, good food & drink, great service from cheerful staff.
i. c.
Busy for a reason. It is clean and the food and drinks are excellent. We had 2 large lattes and 2 large delicious chocholate chip cookies for under a tenner. We will become a regular there.
M. M.
Not a bad spot to stop for a coffee, my only issue was I was on my own with a dog. The moment I stepped in I was informed "no dogs allowed" which is fine but I'm surprised considering there are so many dog walkers. Then when I had my coffee brought out there was no sugar and it wasn't on any sort of tray. Felt like the staff just wanted the day over with and there was absolutely no compassion. Maybe other staff have but certainly not the ones who delt with myself.
S. O.
Really good open space with café have visited many times as it is near home 😁
Along with the café 👍 there is a greenhouse and in summer lots of beautiful flowers
A wildlife area at the far side of the lake 🥰
Also has disabled access and toilets 🤗 good for everyone🤗
K. I.
I went to Golden Acre Cafe for a small lunch. There were also tea. Overall, there were busy. It was quite nice but a bit expensive I think.
A. G.
One of the best parks in Leeds. Very well maintained.
A. H.
Amazing!!! Such a range of food, drink & cake on offer it doesn't seem like the menu has been shrunk at all, and such friendly staff. The veggie roll and pecan cake were so tasty. Can't wait to come back post lockdown when we can have a sit and look at the gorgeous view 😍
J. S.
Love Golden Acre Park, lovely place for a stroll ,round well kept gardens and lake. The cafe does tasty food with lots of choice..
N. K.
Good bix, cakes and drinks. Prices higish but not extortionate. Pleasant and helpful staff.
L. B.
Good stop in very pleasant October sunshine. Could do with better organisation inside.
You are served quickly, but then there's a long queue to pay (& drinks cool quickly!)
C. S.
Great cafe full of desserts and lunch bites. Had lunch and cakes they were all delicious. Super service all staff were friendly. Area outside for dog owners under a shelter and seating outside for warmer days. Only reason for 4* was that the toilets were outside and the gents wasnt in order, and with it being school hols the cafe was a bit untidy, food all over the floor, but it was a very busy day. Would recommend and return with my dog.
C. M.
The cafe environment is wonderful particularly sitting outside in the sun overlooking the park. The staff are great and service good. The coffee was very good. The downside was choosing something with relatively healthy sugar content. The array of sugar laden cakes displayed is torture for a 2 year old if you want the child to eat healthy.
We went for a toasted tea cake to solve the problem.
With a healthy menu this place could easily be a 5
N. W.
Lovely place for a walk without steep gradients. Lovely Cafe
E. L.
The lady serving was not good with customer service. She was quite short with the gentleman behind me who had the temerity to ask what hot dishes were available. She reeled them off so quickly he wouldn't have been able to process them. He replied in an annoyed way and all in all no-one was happy. Unnecessary.
Also, they had tried to avoid single use plastic by using wooden cutlery. Unfortunately the wooden knife could barely cut through butter, let alone the baked potato I was trying to cut and the wooden fork then struggled to pick anything up. It struck me that the most environment friendly option would have been to use real metal cutlery and re-use each one hundreds of times. That way there would be no single use anything.
Equally, I was given 4 paper napkins for one person eating one course. That's 3 lots of paper going to landfill after not even one single use. Terrible environmentally.
However the jacket spud with tuna (when I finally managed to rip it apart) was very nice.
S. G.
Lovely place to take children and dogs.lovely cafe.lovely staff.
a. t.
Amazing place to have a coffee and a cake while walking round the park
S. M.
It's a nice cafe with nice food. Just a bit pricy as with all 'out of the way' places I guess. Staff are very helpful
S. G.
Nice staff. Decent coffee.
But just under £5 for a bacon cob!!
Enjoyed it but won't be going back at that price.
D. L.
Lovely little place and the pot of tea is well worth it. Staff really friendly and plenty of people with dogs. As for the rest of the food... over priced for what you get and the cutlery was dirty. I don't like fingers in my food when it was brought to my table either. 2 adults and 2 kids for a drink and a sandwich would cost In excess £30+
F. G.
Pretty decent cafe in beautiful surroundings in Golden Acre park. Very popular with families and dog walkers in particular.
Snacks and cakes are available as well as lunch options, hot and cold drinks, and ice creams.
Kids can park their bikes and scooter outside and dogs can get a welcome drink of water, it's an informal and friendly vibe.
I. W.
Lovely setting and popular cafe friendly staff and very nice food after or before a good walk around.
Even Robins popping down for a feed .
V. K.
A wonderful park to visit. Good cafe. Great cake... new toilet block clean with baby changing facilities. Areas of water have to be watched with small children. Veg and flower garden and small goldfish pond. Bring plenty of nut and wild bird food for ducks.
C. W.
Great park. Great place to eat and drink after/before a walk. Not cheap but that's the same for anywhere there is no completion. £12 for two sausage rolls and two latte's. Maybe bring ur own picnic.?
D. “.
There was a queue when I arrived, which is always a good sign. The conservatory is a welcome addition. The outdoor area gives pleasant views of the park. Good for dog owners wanting a quick stop off. Seemed a good choice of cakes, bisuits and light bites
M. D.
Does nice staple food and cakes, clean, and the extension to the building has provided more seating inside. They have also more seating outside now too, including a sheltered area. So it's a nice place to have a coffee and cake (or a light meal) after walking around the park with the family.
A. S.
Good selection of baked goods. Love that they remain open during lockdown (takeaway only of course). A visit to the park is always made better with a hot tea and bun.
G. H.
Good size pieces of cake pleasant surroundings. Had a Robin hopping around for pieces of cake.
M. N.
Very Covid Safe. One in, one out and staff are behind plastic screens. Limited food - just sandwiches or bacon/ sausage baps. I can recommend the large hotdogs with onions. Various hot and cold drinks. Take your purchases out to the park.
C. S.
Great place to get a hearty snack before or after walking the dog. There is an outside tap and water bowl for dogs. The food is great. They also sell small gifts send I've cream. The park is beautiful and lovely to walk around.
s. o.
Like the café, however somewhat expensive.
S. H.
Recently (to me, to be fair, could've been years) upgraded and expanded, this has a big terrace which welcomes dogs. There's even a covered area for when it rains. My coffee and scone were fine, if unremarkable.
J. B.
Quiet expensive for what it is. Always really busy and through the day it seems to be a gathering for mums with tots so can get quiet noisy. Its very nice now its been extended and will be even nicer in the summer when you can sit outside with a drink. Nice place to go if you can get a seat.
A. K.
Lovely cafe surrounded by shrubbery and beautiful plants.
Clean toilets, great snacks and hot drinks!
s. s. u.
My home city is blessed with some wonderful parks and Golden acre park is no exception parking is plentiful and free with disabled parking. The parks gardens are very well kept and have many different types of plants and flowers .The parks coffee shop is also very good with a light varied menu from breakfast to lunches afternoon teas good prices quick service plenty of parking very good toilets disabled friendly cafe well worth a visit
R. B.
Café is okay, selection for a quick snack is fine. Sometimes service can be a little slow when it's busy, and they're not the quickest at clearing or cleaning tables.
Food is okay and it's not expensive. It's not a place I'd go to specifically for something to eat, but if you're at the park anyway it's nice enough.
G. B.
Wide range of hot and cold goods and plenty of choices of cakes. Wonderful view over the gardens from clean and cosy cafe area with pleasant staff in attendance. Highly recommended
M. M. (.
Does the job after a loop of the park and you’re in need of a brew. Lunch menu is pretty decent
C. S.
Called in for coffee and cake after walk round Paul's pond. Felt 100% safe. Staff implemented covid safety measures impeccably. Will definitely go back again.
A. H.
A good cake and cup of tea but the menu is a little limited if you want something more substantial. I highly recommend the Tiffin but the Bakewell is only a 2/5. The toasted teacakes a excellent value and a good size. There is good seating inside and out and it's always nice and warm on cold days. Inside there's is also a fascinating, colourised, aerial photograph of Golden Acre Park from it time as a theme park in which you can see the old swimming pool and railway.
N. F.
A nice cafe with good park viewings. Can become too crowded. Picking up cuttleries from tin boxes not the best thing in terms of hygiene standards. Good for breakfast/brunch.
T. E.
Good refreshment facilities at a park between Leeds and Otley. Worth a visit if you like bird watching. Been several times, but still haven't seen a Kingfisher.
C. G.
The table had the previous occupants debris on it. The service seemed slow as I was waiting for my companions who were obtaining the drinks. The view from the terrace was pleasant and a chaffinch alighted on a nearby wall.
The nearby toilets were dirty and unkempt.
s. f.
Great selection of lovely food, specials supplement the main menu, it's reasonably priced and the staff are quick so no long waits. Very very nice cakes I would definitely recommend the mars bar cake 😋
T. N.
Beautiful setting. Quite a wide range of food and drink available. Large enough to cater for quite a lot of people but seating is split over several smaller areas, so feels better.
K. L.
Visited here with my wife and great granddaughter. Great for children. Very good food and reasonable prices. The tuna baked potato was excellent and very large. Would certainly recommend, particularly for families.
K. L.
What a setting; fabulous acres of gardens , ancient trees and shrubs and at this time of year the rhodedendrums are out of this world. A lake to wander round with swans and koots and of course lots of ducks with their chicks. Cafe does a really good coffee with really good cakes and a fabulous seating area.
A. F.
Morning girls meet up organising wedding and hen plans. Can’t wait to be Anne-Marie Griffin, can’t wait me and the girls are so excited. Lovely little place to visit, staff made us feel very welcomed.
R. D.
Nice for a park cafe. Good coffee.
J. R.
Lovely little spot for a snack on your walk. Covid safe and with benches around the park you can sit with your drink
Q. V.
Beautiful park, lake with bird life. A myriad of trees and plants - check out thr greenhouses behind the cafe.
Occaisonally have bands/events behind the cafe.
Picnic benches, toilets.
Circular walk with good path for buggies, wheelchairs
S. W.
Easy access for all with ramps as well as steps, food is freshly prepared when ordered, gluten-free options, beautiful cakes, conservatory over looking the grounds great garden's and nature reserve
l.
Good selection of food, bit pricey but good quality. Very nice location, plenty of seating. Great place for a coffee and breakfast/light lunch.
S. B.
Busy on Sundays, nice garden to relax and drink coffee, dogs are allowed in garden. Friendly staff.
M. H.
Not bad staff I think a proper coffee machine a bit better only been a bit picky I know you can organise the parking because it's the parks but I think parking do with the bit better because cars are parked on the road most probably will come again can I have a hot sandwich next time or some egg benedict and now I am being picky
E. M.
Beautiful park with acres of land 🤣
Has ample free parking, and great for an autumn-winter walk.
L. B.
Popular cafe. Good service. Plenty of seating space, inside & out. Only visited twice since refurbishment. Only had a latte, £2.75 for medium to take out. Was lovely though.
A. S.
It's a nice place with some wonderful wildlife. The kids love it. It's also nice to walk around on a rainy day with your partner and umbrella.
D. W.
Had a good walk around Pauls Pond and into the cafe for a great cup of tea with a deliciously fruity scone. Service very prompt and with the added space no problems finding a table.
E. W.
Lovely lunch. Really well thought out one way systems to enable social distancing. Very friendly and helpful staff.
S. L.
Golden acre cafe had a lovely selection of cakes and biscuits. We had panini's very Good and with a good size salad. The service was fast.

Great location for a walk around beatiful grounds. This is the site of the original Theme Park and zoo opened in 1932.
C. S.
Set in a beautiful park serving a variety of sweet and savoury snacks and hot and cold soft drinks. There is a nice outside patio area too.
C. L.
Lovely large park with gardens, a lake with many birds, ice cream van, cafe, toilets, areas good for dogs and pathways suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
S. L.
Golden acre park is outstanding walk round the park and through the woods and try to count the number of different tree's its unbelievable the variety I'm told it's amazing in autum I've yet to visit in autum then there's the lake full of wild life swan's ducks and the like and last but not least the cafe offers a great choice for everyones taste from full English to jacket potatoes and everything in-between with smiling welcomeing staff only to happy to please and finally to finish up the flower garden it's a good four hour day out if you haven't already been then it's a must
J. D.

J. B.
Amazing rocky road! Lovely spot to sit and have a coffee/ lunch and take in the scenery 😊
l. d.
newly refurbished , good selection of cakes and pastries , scone was lovely , but £2.45 for a super small latte was overpricing
E. M.

Good food and drinks options but my coffee cup still had lipstick on it when it was served to me which I find quite disgusting as they're clearly not cleaning cups properly.
