Reviews of Northern Cobbler
L. C.
One of the best coffee places in Leicester. They might not do syrups, but definitely not needed. The coffee blend is so smooth 😍
Definitely try a latte, Dory bagel 🥯 and the chocolate brownie - you won't be disappointed.
The staff are very friendly and chatty and often ask how your day is going.
x. i.
little bit pricey for small-ish portions but the bagel was sooo delicious! I had the salmon bagel and my friend had the dory one and we loved our food so much. Very chilled out vibes and nice and peaceful. Mocha was delicious too! Did expect the large to be a bit bigger but the small was very tiny. I would 100% come here again just to study / have a catch up with a friend.
J. T.
We deeply miss the EPIC galletes that the Northern Cobbler used to do, as such we no longer come here half as much. Still, a pretty decent coffee shop with some nice looking food
A. C.
Subjective access to wifi. Could not log in with two different devices and was told the password was correct. Although two other customer were able to log in, when one of them was asked they recalled the password to be something else. Good strategy to keep people moving along. What a shame as i would have spent more money in there had i had access to work. Banana cake was lovely though.

Nice coffee shop on queens road, stoneygate. A place where one can have breakfast or lunch and purchase shoes . À very unique experience I have my usual espresso here , I must admit it's definitely 1 of the smaller espresso I've had but very tasty nonetheless . A nice place to catch up with friends
J. W.
Great coffee and bakery treats! Atmosphere is a bit dull though, they could do with playing a bit of music in the shop and some better chairs and tables outside. There aren't any high chairs for children either, which is a bit disappointing. So it's more of a grab and run kind of place instead of an eat-in place for me! Will definitely go back for the coffee!
A. U.
Great service and really good coffee.
I had a Dory Bagel too. Delicious. :D
B. B.
They do the best Gallettes. Coffee is good too. Not the cheapest place but lovely ambience and decor. It's annoying when you hear the staff disagreeing or laughing and joking loudly in the back as you hear everything in the front and it not professional especially if you're there to work or just enjoy the space.

A few of us went for food today. Nice simple range of crepes. Had to knock off a star as online prices were not updated so a little pricier than we all thought. Still good value for money.
D. M.
Shoes and coffee, a strange mix. It can be a bit 50/50, often coming away with burnt coffee. It's a nice setting, and a nice atmosphere, and they get some tasty cakes and pastries in, but you may need to get a second coffee at times. That said, they are more than happy to replace your coffee if you do have any issues, mistakes can happen and I can't fault the staff for their service.
L. A.
A cute little place with lovely staff and a range of delicious coffee, tea, pastry cakes and a small menu. It can be a little cramped as it is a small cafe, but it’s definitely worth it and you’ll definitely get a good table if you get in early. My family and I visit regularly, it’s our favourite cafe in the area
L. B.
Visited the Rollaaton lodge Northern Cobbler this morning with my sister. Best hot chocolate I think I've ever had and as a non coffee/tea drinker I've tried many. Staff were friendly and food was tasty. I had a bagel with Cajun chicken (and many other yummy things) and my sister had the banana bread, both of which we would recommend.
D. R.
Lovely and bright. Friendly staff. Prompt service. Good selection on the menu.lots of cake and coffee. Both of which where offered in various guises. Shall be returning.

I use northern cobbler frequently, purely because the coffee and cakes are SO good... in my opinion the best in Leicester.
If they weren't quite so good I wouldn't be able to forgive the slow, fumbling style of service!
If the staff were more carefully trained/selected the turnover would be far greater and profits may increase enough to allow slightly better value to the customer!
I've watched people huff/tut/leave due to the very slow service...sometimes down to staff chatting and sharing pics on phones etc while the queue grows.
There are a couple of 'grown ups' there that understand the concept of customer service and that some of their customers haven't the privilege to wait 15 mins for a cup of Joe at 8.45 in the morning!
M. R.
Cosy little cafe in Clarendon Park. Delicious home cooked food. My bagel was made with lots of fresh salmon lightly smoked and delicious cream cheese. Coffee was good. Service could have been more attentive. Nice place for meeting friends of having a quiet moment by yourself. Recommended.
S. C.
Nice coffee and nice atmosphere.
Doesn’t seem to have a toilet- cafes with this many seats should have a toilet as far as I’m aware? Can be quite slow and frustrating dogs aren’t allowed in, also frequently don’t have oat m*lk available…
k. m.
Absolutely love the coffee. It's smooth full of aroma. Just what you need in the mornings.
Y. P.
Great coffee, lovely staff but their take away cups are not very good. Been a few times and we always end up with coffee on our sleeves
C.
The Dory (v bagel) was so delicious and the hot chocolate made with coconut milk was so tasty. Not the cosiest place in winter but food was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely come again
S. A.
Great little place, the coffee is smooth and brilliant in taste. There is enough room for pushchairs however there are a few steps to get in therefore may not be suitable for all to enter. The bakery area is simply fresh and delicious. There is a real homely feeling in and the staff are so friendly. ! Will be going there soon! Thanks for a lovely mocha and treacle tart!
O. A.
I like the place, staff, coffee and dessert.
Everything is amazing
j. h.
Great drinks and venue... Red Leicester and Onion scone was amazing!
S. S.
Stopped to get coffees, very helpful staff and the coffee was excellent!
J. G.
Great coffee! Well made and not hotter than the sun as per <insert every popular high street coffee shop>. Highly recommend the pastries; the raspberry croissants and the cheese twists are both wonderful! I also want to buy all the fancy coffee things (not that I can make coffee as good as they do but it's pretty😍) …
c. l.
Beautiful cup of coffee. Really mild smooth flavour with a kick of Berry at the end. Definitely some high quality medium to light roasted Colombian/South American beans.
Staff are very polite and looking at the timing of the pour of the espresso and then the handing of the milk Definitely showed a level of quality and experience.
Will be coming back again!
K. B.
Good Coffee, great food, great service.
K. M.
Very nice cafe. Music was v low and it was a little awkwardly quiet but they had a wonderful offering and it was nicely decorated.
E.
A great chill out coffee shop to watch the Queen's Rd world go by.
U. S.
Third time trying these guys out. Never had good service here but previously at least the coffee was decent. Today, however it was all bad which was a bummer because I was the only person In the cafe. I love supporting small independent businesses so please sort it out guys
P. t. P.
I had a lovely bagel and a proper peppermint. Great food and great staff. Would recommend if you in the area or near Victoria Park
F. N.
Lovely spot for a coffee and cake. Delicious coffee with plant-based milk options, as well as a lovely spread of cakes and pastries. There are a few plugs for if you want to charge or work, and they have tables and benches outside for the warmer weather. Friendly staff and great relaxed atmosphere.
P. M. H.
The mocha here was good, but the rocky road was not so nice.
The staff were friendly, and there were enough space for seating.
The ambiance was moderate.
P. K.
Superb coffee amidst friendly, helpful, caring staff.
R. E.
Free WIFI and a nice space to do a few hours work. It's a shame it does not have enough plugs in the cafe but I still give it a 5* for the customer service and the bagels look good.
J. R.
Bought a pair of their Porgi Chelsea Boots and I absolutely love them! I had to exchange my normal size for a size down as they ran a little big on me, but they were very helpful in coordinating the exchange. Would definitely recommend :)
H. M.
This is a very good place for a good snack and a very nice cup of coffee ☕, the coffee ☕here is excellent and the service is excellent the quality of the food is great. The service you get from the cafe staff is very good 👍🏿so if you are in the area and are looking for a good cup of tea 🍵or coffee ☕and a bit of nice cake 🎂check out this place 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯💯
K. V.
Nice galettes and drinks (the apple fizzy drink was great) and spacious outside, but not quite eco-friendly. Even though they provide non-plastic items (cutlery, cups), each portion is served individually in a box that is too big and in the end unnecessary, and that later needs to be put in the general waste bin (because it's dirty with food), and which is the only bin available too.
S. T. T.
Nice coffee, lovely surroundings and WiFi.
J. B.
Great little coffee shop. The best coffee on Queen's Rd. Some great little cakes and sweet bites, too. Only down side is the wooden seats; you can't stay in there for long if you're on a wooden chair - that's why people go to Costa. The comfy chairs allow for long chats and drinking more than one drink.
M. S.
Update: just had a very good coffee here and a delicious cheese-filled bread thing. Marvellous - upping previous rating! Friendly service too!
First visit (old review): The coffee was fine. The pastries were very similar to Lidl's 20p ones (which are tasty, but 10% of the price). Nice to sit out en terrasse but really reason to go here when the Tiny Bakery is round the corner and serves *such* good coffee and food. We'd have gone there instead if there had been space!
Z. V.
I went in this afternoon and the food was absolutely amazing. The girl working there was really lovely. Overall the experience was excellent and I’d recommend going in
F. N.
I loved it. Wonderful ambience with fantastic, friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic baked goods, I especially loved the Salted Caramel and Peanut. Plus the Hot White Chocolate = Heaven! I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to going back.
M. C.
I really like this place! Nice interior what is a rare case for Leicester, pancakes are extremely tasty and pricing is surprisingly moderate. Additionally, I can note a selection of Fentimans soft drinks that are available for order.
E. R.
Odd themes going on (food, shoes and a fish?!) But it somehow works. Great, friendly staff, fantastic coffee and a nice selection of food options. They've wisely opted to differentiate themselves from the rest of Queens Road with the menu of Crêpes and Galettes (filled and folded savoury crêpes), all of which are delicious. The vibe and general ambiance is nice.
N. A.
Great place hangout with some really nice coffee, but unfortunately they've currently ran out of Oatly. They're currently using some sweetened 'Alpro' brand version 😶, so I'd ring beforehand to check if Oatly is your prefer milk alternative 🙂. …
S. I.
Went to try out their crêpes, which were pretty good. Had heard mixed reviews of their coffee but I really liked it, strong but not bitter. Will be back.
B. F.
Very friendly staff, pretty good coffee but very good confectionery, good but overpriced food. Prices are otherwise reasonable for its location. Neat atmosphere and can be very lovely in the summer which I like
C. M.
Great coffee, love the gallettes (lots of delicious fillings in generous amounts) and nice to be able to sit on the decking and people-watch on Queens Road!
k. m.
No ramp for push chair and small inside. Lovely coffee though, that gets a thumbs up.
C. M.
Visited many times. Best coffee on Queens St. Excellent atmosphere. Sandwiches are different and tasty. Good quality shoes to boot.
M. L.
I really like this place but service is so slow. Last time the people in front left the queue, got coffee from the Tiny Bakery, and walked back past long before our coffee was ready zzzzzz
D. C.
Amazing coffee served in a quirky shop with a great atmosphere. The coffee served here is without a doubt the best in the immediate neighbourhood, and definitely in the top 3 in Leicester.
E. F.
Nice coffee, fun staff. Seems a very friendly place to sit down with friends. Not very large though so I would avoid if busy.
A. F.
Cozy little café, very reasonably priced and with great coffee and really quality galettes. Staff nice too. 100% would recommend!
E. C.
Visited with some friends to catch up and was a really nice relaxed environment to talk for a couple of hours in. The food was delicious, slightly expensive for the fact that the menu is essentially sandwiches, but very interesting and garnished and tasty sandwiches at that. Would come again if in the area!
C. P.
Our favourite place in our neighbourhood. We always head here for our weekly fix of great coffee, food & conversation from staff & customers alike. A great asset to the area.
M. N.
Really good coffee, I often extend any local trip just to grab some from here.
B. S.
