Reviews of Wistow Café Bistro

Came here today for our first breakfast.
Initial service at the counter when ordering was great, lady was very bubbly and friendly and even though it was just under £30.00 for 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks we were looking forward to it.
When the food arrived it looked good but there was no sauce or salt and when we asked for some tomato sauce the young girl who served the food at our table (not one of the tall thin girls), she basically said go get it yourself it's behind the counter..!
By this time though we'd seen the other girls delivering food to the other tables and bringing back condiments if asked, just our girl maybe that couldn't be bothered.?
It's a shame really how 1 person can upset the experience.
Food was good though - maybe that's the main thing.?

Very busy.
Ordering system is muddled. Need to access menus before reaching the till. Customer service at till could be improved. Expected to wait for coffee and carry myself. Thanks to member of staff who helped.
No sandwiches, only toasted which is a shame.
However food and coffe
e we did have was tasty.

We had afternoon tea here, it was delicious.
A very good mixture of cakes, scones and savouries.
The friendly and courteous staff made it complete.
Highly recommended

Lovely café with a great selection of treats for a mid-afternoon break after walking and shopping.
Friendly service and we had a lovely bright day, and so enjoyed a relaxing end to our afternoon with a coffee and cake.

Always a very pleasant place to visit.
I often organise a mountain bike ride out to here.
Always a great selection of food, light bites and drinks.
Always popular with familes, ramblers and cyclists.
A must visit if in the area

I love this place, luckily it’s right on our doorstep, the seating areas are lovely, great if you have your dog with you, great for cyclists to stop for a drink and a bite to eat, the menu is great, however more Vegan/plant-based & dairy-free options are needed.

Visited today - had a fabulous cake, lemon & blueberry. Hot, tasty coffee. Friendly staff. Clean. Would definitely revisit X

We had a lovely Jubilee afternoon tea today, 9 ladies. The service was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Thank you 😊

What a gem of a place. I love the whole rural centre, the shops are all great, and the cafe serves the most fabulous cakes! I think they are all made in house, and they are just divine! I even had to come in for seconds to take some home. I have also been in for lunch, they have a new menu and I tried their chicken casserole. Delicious. I can't wait to come in and try more

A really lovely atmosphere and brunch at Wistow.
Completely understand the reasoning behind the paper cups, etc but it would be really nice to have proper cutlery if nothing else.
I had the avocado smash which was indeed fab but trying to cut sourdough toast with a wooden fork is a bit of a nightmare and at one point it just completely snapped!
It wouldn’t put me off coming as it’s really lovely….. but I think I’ll stick to cake next time!

A lovely cafe in the countryside with an amazing selection of homemade cakes and traybakes. There is also lots of indoor and outdoor seating and the cafe has a lovely atmosphere (love the uniqueness of the interior decorations in both the conservatory and restaurant). The staff are so friendly here and I always enjoy coming here, would definitely recommend

Lovely cafe at wistow . Beautiful food , great cheery service and wonderful little shops and garden centre to wonder round . Plus great walks nearby

One of the nicest cafes in my local neighbourhood. The rural setting is lovely and staff are friendly and welcoming. I only usually visit for coffee and a cheeky piece of cake, both of which are of a consistent high standard. Their cakes are homemade and so very delicious. Try the lemon and blueberry, it's amazing!

Really lovely outdoor cafe with plenty of space to enjoy something on the extensive menu. Great location too. The cafe was busy when we turned up but we were soon served by the friendly staff. We enjoyed a variety of food and drink which helped to fuel us back to Northampton. There's various other retailers on the site including a deli. Another excellent cafe stop to add to our list of favourite tea stops.

Pleasant afternoon tea, nothing but time on our hands so had a wander around and picked up a few bits from various shops in the complex.

The staff are truly amazing 👏 the food is very very good and I absolutely love going and just chilling out with family and amazing surroundings

Highly recommended for event catering from start to finish. I had them recommended to me for my 60th celebrations and so glad I chose them. Everything was fabulous from start to finish, great communication and all my guests were very happy! Huge thank you x

It’s good to see local business doing what they can to keep their staff and customers safe during this pandemic that’s far from over! Using disposables is absolutely the right thing to do to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus, bin it after use, easy. Such a shame / outrageous that some people feel the need to leave bad reviews about businesses that have suffered such hard times during the pandemic especially when the business is actually trying to protect their customers! McDonald’s use paper cups... go there and moan next time!

One of the nicest ciabattas I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Highly recommend the brie, cranberry and bacon one. Only lost a star as it's fairly expensive there.
S. M.
Three of us had afternoon tea there. It compared more than favourably with another tea very recently taken in a 5* country hotel. The quality and taste of the food offered at Wistow was wonderful, as was the friendly and efficient service.
S. G.
The setting is beautiful and cosy, lovely atmosphere by the customers. Staff can definitely put in some more personable touch in their service but polite and upto standards.
E. I.
Very nice really, restaurant was a bit pricey but sandwich was top notch. Parking for disabled wasn't signed and on a very hot day not easy to find and we only found the one space....managed to squeeze in. Maybe this driver will one day be old enough and lucky enough to take their wheelchair bound parent out.......sadly the system hasn't allowed me to add the pic, but you can imagine.

Lovely place, have been a few times. Generous portions of great food, friendly, helpful staff, just wish I lived nearer.

We organised a wake for a family member who had passed away ,The staff were so helpful friendly and very professional,we spoke to a lady called Frankie who is events manager there, nothing was too much trouble, she emailed different menus with prices, also explained that if we preferred we could give her a budget and she would work within that, she kept us up to date with how things were doing, and when we said could we add another couple of people she was so accommodating, All was covid Safe and guidelines adhered to.
When we arrived the conservatory where we were having our event looked beautiful , Food was amazing, Beautifully set out ,staff on hand to top things up if needed, Recommend if you planning an event
J. C.
Crazy busy, excellent service and food, great portion sizes and brilliant quality - fast service, relatively expensive but seems you get what you pay for
A. S.
Sorry the Cafe isn’t what it used to be. It now specialises in takeaway style food. I had a disappointing breakfast burrito which had a rock hard wrap. Even the swarm of wasps which were plaguing others weren’t even interested. Such a shame a couple of years ago this was the place to go. Where’s the bitterly disappointed face emoji?

So love it here. Lovely quaint shops and nice well planned garden centre.
The restaurant serves delicious homemade food and the space is very roomy.

Although they are still in full covid mode.paper cups etc. The place was packed and we had to wait for a table. But the service was fast and the staff were pleasant.

Amazing service from staff. Friendly as always. Tye one way route was well thought out and seating was well spaced out. Food as always was amazing and so tasty. Was nice to visit again especially as it was a wedding anniversary and the team pulled pit all the stops to make the day fantastic.

Love this cafe- such good selection of cakes and yummy sandwiches.
Really want to come back to try their afternoon tea! 😋

We visited here on Sunday. The cafe is open with a minimal menu as expected. They have a good set up with social distancing and queuing. The coffees tasted as good as always and we also had wraps and they were very tasty. Be aware its closed by 3pm.

Great place, super bacon and maple syrup with pancakes and really good value. Dog friendly too in the garden room. It was very popular with locals and visitors, we were on a canal boat and moored nearby, easy 10-15 minutes walk from our mooring. Throughly recommend cafe and all the shops, garden centre and deli which all share the same site.

We visited today with 4 generations, great grandma, grandma, mother and daughter. We all enjoyed all the shops and the cafe. It was fabulous

Great to see the Cafe open again and really good to talk to Jane Clifford- Top coffee and cake, makes the 14 mile round trip cycle worthwhile . Look forward to when you are fully open and then I can come for breakfast!
J. L.
Jacket potato, cheese & beans were very small as was the side salad so only 3* nothing special. It would of been nice to of been offered this as a main but the server didn't seem that interested and it wasn't clear on the menu 👎
C. P.
Lovely service, a little slow but it was very busy.
Lots of seating available.
Food was delicious.
K. W.
You would have 5 stars but for one small thing, to much salt in the meal! I can never understand why food producing outlets put salt and pepper on a table and plenty of salt in the meal itself? I thought that there was a move towards less salt for health? and if you really need more you use the cruet? ? will still be coming back but will have to drink more water with it :)

We booked Wistow’s bistro to hold our wedding on the 25th May for a BBQ and it was everything we imagined it would be. Beautiful setting, excellent choice of food cooked to perfection, relaxed atmosphere. Thank you to all at Wistow for making the day extra special, the ice cream hut went down a storm with all young and old. You really worked hard to make the day extra special for us and everything we imagined it to be.
J. B.
Amazing take away afternoon tea. Such good value for money. Staff were so helpful and really helped to make my daughter's hen do go so smoothly. Huge thanks

Lovely place to enjoy brunch then have a walk in the surrounding countryside. Delicious food and friendly service.

After a shocking vist to the garden centre and shops where i found the service to be rude and everyone seems to be miserable ( not the lady in the candle shop she was lovely) the got chocolate and the hottie serving us. Food was yumm . Service was good. Everyone had a smile :)

This is a great cafe, they serve food from around 10-3most days and do great food, we have been here for breakfast and lunch and are both equally great. They serve a great selection of ciabatta's, sandwiches etc. As well a jacket potato's the price is reasonable too.
