Reviews of Association Coffee
T. W.
Truly enjoyed my coffee here. The baristas were lovely as well, they were so cheerful! Thank you ❤️
M. V.
Good coffee, tasty food, it’s my first time here and I really love this place!
L. S.
Nice coffee shop. Food good but lacking atmosphere.
S. L.
Their coffees are amazing! It is always busy here too, many businessmen and businesswomen will be here. There are a selection of pastries and cakes available too. I had an americano and a cake to sit in for quick breakfast then a flat white to take away (yes, their coffee is that good).
M. S.
Good place for a catch up or a casual business meeting. It was a bit late in the day so I had fresh mint tea rather than coffee but the coffee did smell good. I’ll come back another time to try it.
M. S.
Great little non-chain gem! Great lattes and love the Fresh mint tea pots! Has a lovely personality, cool and cozy industrial style and perfect when you need a place to do some work at, which is not so easy to find outside of chains.
N.
Beautiful coffee shop serving yummy coffee & pastries right by Leadenhall Market in East London. Lots of great nooks to sit at, and staff are friendly and helpful to help you select your coffee of choice. Come here for a coffee to go, or stay a while to chit chat with friends.
A. S.
Great coffee place come here often for a sit down or take away. The breakfast and pastry options are great. The decor is classic wood and relaxing. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable would very much recommend.
B. T.
Great coffee (although could be a tad bigger). Great cake. Friendly people. Good place for doing business or just drinking coffee.
m. m.
Like the atmosphere and the coffee. One of my fav spots in the area. Good to catch up with an old friend especially outside busy hours.
P. L.
Great coffee, down to earth friendly staff. One of the best in London
M. S.
My favourite coffee spot in the city. The best coffee and a very relaxed atmosphere.
P. F.
Very good coffee! Not great atmosphere, no music and the staff wasn’t welcoming.
The sandwich was great but very small snacks selection.
J. C.
Super tasty pastries and great coffee. I absolutely love the interior design of the shop as well!
V. G.
Excellent coffee, nice cakes, friendly staff, nice environment. A very good option if you find yourself in the City looking for a nice coffee break. You will find a mix of business people working around the area having meetings/breaks and people sipping coffee and working on their laptops. Free WiFi is a plus. The place can get a bit noisy during the coffe break times, e.g. after lunch.
M. P.
Great independent coffee place considering the area. However they no longer do the Guinness and ginger cake advertised on their website, run out of mint for the fresh mint tea and toilets were out of order.
c. l.
Still the best coffee in the square mile, not to mention the ham and cheese toasties. Today's Costa Rica filter was as good as it gets
N. A.
Coffee beans are changing according to season !!
They use beans from different roasters .. Mostly from Square Mile Coffee “one of the BEST ROASTERS in the world”
Great coffee & Friendly staff !!
T. C.
Great coffee, polite staff, awesome atmosphere
C. B.
Like the venue and the coffee. Very tasty, it puts hairs on your chest.
a. g.
Third Wave coffee shop around the corner from the Gherkin.
Pros: variety of recently roasted and single origen bean options for espresso/filter drinks, attractive and comfortable interior, knowledgeable and quick service
Cons: none so far
E. R.
nice coffee house in the City. They also have options for "dairy free" cappuccinos, including Oatly
S. A.
Great vibe and friendly baristas, and the coffee is very good.
J. N.
Very good coffee, nice place.
S. Z.
Close attention to detail.
The store is very neat and the staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.
Highly recommended if you want to go for coffee in the city.
A.
Attention to detail coffee in a relatively relaxed, darkened space with mostly city workers. Also very good chai lattes!
T. H.
One of the best coffee shops in the city.
great staff, great atmosphere.
P. T.
Cosy place, very good coffee.
K. L.
An almost secret coffee City spot tucked down a quiet lane. unsurprising popular with the City crowd but with a wide selection of coffee, drinks and cakes.
Don’t be put off by the crowd. Despite arriving during the mid morning rush, I was served quickly and managed to find a spot to perch at the espresso bar. I recommend a Flat White and slice of cake (iced Banana cake if they have it!)
M. B.
Popped in here for a coffee after a client meeting and being recommended it through the Google Maps app - it was the first result under 'Best Coffee' and I'm really glad I followed the advice. Brilliant interior, cosy and warm from the cold streets. Really relaxed vibe but attentive staff who clearly know their coffee. I was really pleased at the choice of beans when asking for a filter coffee and the presentation was superb. I just wish this place was closer to my usual work - or maybe I'll have to make more client visits!
P. D.
Great coffee, maybe at 10-20p more than you’d pay at a chain but much better quality.
Nice food there. Does get very busy at times but service is quick and you never have to wait long.
D. S.
Good spot favoured by business folks. Many seemed office-less or getting a head start on the day with their colleagues. Newspapers available in the morning. Coffee was good and croissant was excellent.
M. H.
Great coffee, amazing pastries / food and really nice people. My favourite coffee shop. Highly recommend the croissant, pastel de nata and toasties! They are perfect. Coffee has to be flat white or affogato. Enjoy.
K. S. (.
Good coffee and good spot to get your laptop out for a quick session. Staff were not the friendliest and just for that reason, I looked up a few other spots during my stay. But certainly 100% coffee nerd approved.
S. E.
I love going to this coffee shop! Best coffee in the area and have never had a bad coffee. Staff are friendly and have very good barista skills! It’s nice to sit in or take away to enjoy your coffee out in the sun
C. Y.
Lovely coffee shop with friendly staff
C. H.
An excellent coffee ship that has a hustle and bustle of the big city vibe going on. You can get great quality coffee here (the flat white and cappuccino are excellent choices) and there's a decent amount of seats which is nice if you want to have your coffee. The staff are friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable.
E. L.
Cosy café that's a favourite amongst the work crowd
A. M.
Aroma of the coffee was heavenly, freshly brewed coffee. Staff were friendly and already lively on an early morning. The sandwich was a bit dry though
J. M.
A bit hidden from sight but not difficult to find for bank workers. I had their filter coffee of Nicaragua, very balanced and perfect brewed. And the amazing almond croissant just complete my perfect breakfast of a work day! Definitely will visit again and try their espresso.
H. H.
Love the airy, spacious ambience of the place. It's not as busy as you would think given where it is located. I love the decor. It speaks out GRUNGE. The coffee is amazing. And it's a very convenient space to work from in the morning. Having said that - some of the chairs aren't the most comfortable so keep that in mind. Perfect to meet a client/friend for coffee!
D. A.
The fantastic selection of guests beans, the delicious snacks and the impeccable design of Association Coffee make it simply the very best coffee shop I have ever visited. The most delicious single origin filters this city has to offer! Oh...and the toilet smells AMAZING!
B. G.
Excellent flat white. Felt maybe a degree too cold but brewed perfectly and not an excessive amount of milk as you can often get. This would be my regular morning coffee place if I worked in the area for sure.
M. G.
Nice little coffee shop, tasty pastel de nata.
V. A.
Coffee is genuinely very good. A notch above other coffee places - but some slightly annoying elements - hap hazard queuing system, serving everything on wooden boards (whyyyy) and teeny tables to crowd said boards onto.... But v good coffee and nibbles!
M. M.
Went here for breakfast, coffee great (square mile beans) but that's no surprise, this place is on the London's best coffee list. They don't have fresh juice but their cold-pressed bottled juice was indistinguishable from the reel thing. My muesli was yummy with lots of seeds and nuts and cold milk. Great selection of mags to read too.
A. A.
The way to give you your cup is amazing and their black coffee was great
E. B.
Association Coffee consistently produce the best flat whites I've tasted. The temperature, taste and texture are all close to perfection. They regularly change the beans on offer, but my favourite 'Square Mile' is available to buy in 250g bags. The barristas are not only highly skilled, but also very friendly with real dedication to service. I have also been for lunch: one can chose communal seating or a table. On offer are sandwiches or salad. The range is not extensive but they are freshly made, with interesting flavours, beautifully wrapped in paper tied with string. Association Coffee is a fabulous brief retreat from the City outside, and the coffee is among the top 2 or 3 offerings in the city.
M. P.
Really great coffee as long as you like it strong / powerful, which I do. Also does a nice Oolong, Mint and normal tea. Has the (now standard) set of brownies, portuguese tarts. Used to be good for an early light breakfast (haven't been recently).
A. L.
Known as one of the best coffee shops in London and they didn't disappoint. Beautifully made Flat White. In a business area so plenty of meetings/workers around but that didn't spoil the atmosphere.
H. P.
Nice macchiato. Friendly staff we’re happy to provide a glass full of hot water to hold to warm fingers as macchiato too small to do the job. Good location and appealing looking cakes (cheapest of which was only 90p so no avoidance of cake due to finances here).
U. L.
What gem of a cafe tucked away behind Leadenhall, brilliant coffees (I love global guest roasts they have on offer as long blacks) - great service and a charming interior to steal a few moments from a busy day. Another one of the city's best kept (or not) secrets
M. L.
Great coffee. Always a queue as it is popular with insurance professionals who meet up outside the office. Limited seats so usually have to wait when the cafe is busy!
L. M.
Been many times. Great for meetings. Very nice environment.
A. C.
Great place for a coffee in the City. Brooklyn-style atmosphere. Good and pleasant baristas.
I am using it for business informal meetings and catch-up with my network outside lunch hours. My guests are always impressed. It really looks like a treat compared to Costa/nero/starbucks
P. D.
I worked for this outfit a few years ago and to this day hold it as a golden standard for cafés all over the world. Uncompromising when it comes to quality standards, prompt and friendly service, and beautiful design - you Association Coffee will forever hold a special place in my heart.
n. p.
Up there with the best of them. While working in The City I visited Association on recommendation one day and left with a take out coffee, a new pack of V60 filters and a great new Aero press tip. All I wanted was the coffee but everything else helped. Very friendly and knowledgable staff and a great looking shop, this is well worth a look if you work in the square mile.
D. W.
Not my favourite coffee (quite sauer or the extraction time went to short) but the staff is very well educated and worth the discussion about coffee, nice seating area but not enough for a city venue that's why very often no siting spaces
H. P.
5* specialty coffee, nice croissants.
Office decoration combined with metal & bricks.
You get the feeling of old and new in the same place.
Extra good for a short coffee refill and checking the newspapers.
S. D.
Bloggers have been raving about the coffee here and I can see why; despite the serious amounts of kit here, the staff are especially warm and lovely, and keen to make sure your cup is just right for you.
My flat white was top notch, and the (very cute) barista even brought over a stopwatch for the special blend tea I had after to make sure I poured it when it was ready. Even the snacks were great quality, with raisin toast for a bargain few quid and pastries with parma ham in the centre. It's an expected surprise to find somewhere with cool, sparse decor and this kind of standard of coffee in the City; perhaps that's why it gets so busy at lunch. Loved it!
C. T.
Probably my favourite of the fashionable coffee shops in the area. Great coffee, as overpriced as anywhere in the vicinity, nice busy vibe, better service than average.
T. M.
Great place with a hipster and modern feel. Flat white was smooth, tastes of roasted roasted tomato and forest fruits with an earthy finish. Would recommend highly.
D. G. (.
I would recommend the Squishy filter coffee, its amazing, just ask for a Squishy. they will know what you want.
They do the best coffee in the city and tea as well, plus there is always a great atmosphere and the staff are always really friendly.
V. C.
The caf boasts very good artisan coffee from various countries. It is mainly a coffee shop rather than a lunch spot with just one sandwich variety on offer.
A. M.
Great coffee, a must if you are in the area
C. E.
Good Proper Coffee. Now added to my regular rotation of Curators coffee and Taylor street Baristas nearby.
Long black was cooler than I would have liked a couple of times recently but now seems to be back to piping hot.
J. L.
I love going to this coffee shop! Best coffee in the area and have never had a bad coffee. Staff are friendly and its nice to sit in or take away for your final but of commute
J. B.
Great coffee and really good service.
M. P.
Decent coffee, sadly when I went, a dearth of snacks, good place to relax before tackling St Paul's!
M. D.
Love this place. Not around here much, but the coffee is great, especially the Kenyan filter, as is the space. Staff are nice and helpful. It has space to work, WiFi and is clean.
A. Y. W.
Lovely environment, friendly staffs, amazing coffee and delicious ham&cheese tostie, very fulfilling for a girl! I'm so happy that I found a nice place to sit down and enjoy the coffee after work.
N. B.
Fantastic coffee and lovely staff. Always a good atmosphere for meeting. No electrical outlets despite the work-friendly long bar.
F. B.
Great coffee, nice place, perfect for a lunchtime coffee and sandwich, or a quick takeaway flat white...
C. K.
Good coffee with changing single origin beans to try.
M. D.
Tremendous select of great coffees. Food is good too. Fabulous place to have a business meeting or relax with friends.
J. A.
This is the best coffee I can remember drinking in London. They also have lamingtons (although I haven't tried them yet). It is on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of cost.
S. A.
Great coffee, really knowledgeable staff, no loud music. Has more of a business vibe than a trendy or hipster vibe. Can't do any better really
J. m.
The coffee here is the real deal. Been a couple of times, takeaway and to have there and honestly terrific coffee, and i seriously try to hunt down the good ones!
T. F.
Great attention to coffee preparation, as it should be at a place focuses on...well, coffee. I never ate here so I can't talk about the food but baristas know their craft very well.
S. G.
Great coffee shop tucked away near the Gherkin. Always bustling with a superior coffee selection. Great spot for people watching too
d. m. v.
Been wanting to visit for a long time after recommendations from friends. Fabulous atmosphere and excellent coffee! The brownies were to die for!!!
T. N.
Posh place to drink coffee. A great find, as otherwise it's just the usual Costa or Starbucks.
This is a good place to have a quick meeting, as it's usually pretty quiet and comfortable
O. E.
Exceptional coffee - great atmosphere in each spot, can have a meeting or a casual catchup. Lovely matcha too!
R. H.
Quite a nice little café. I liked the fact they offered to bring my order to my table. Good coffee, if a little bitter.
B. W.
Great coffee, well made. They also always seem to have space to sit down and chill out despite being in the shadow of the Gherkin.
C. P.
Great coffee and friendly staff. Pastry options also very good. Very relaxed atmosphere.
G. B.
Nice and relaxed coffee house with delicious brews. Gets really busy at work times like right at 9 am
M. W.
One of the best coffees I've ever had. Great little place - highly recommended.
G. H.
This is my regular coffee stop each morning and sometimes twice in the morning. Friendly staff always with a smile on their faces serving great coffee and a selection of tasty bites to eat
W. B.
I'm a coffee snob and this place is amazing. Love their fruity filter coffee / pour over. YUM
S. W.
I like coffee here. A very unique wonderful taste!
G. J.
Nice vibe here. Good coffee although a little bit grainy for my liking (cappuccino). The Wi-Fi was a bit temperamental.
M. M.
I really liked the vibe of the place - enjoyed the coffee and the service. The croissant didn't match the standard though.
P. G.
Excellent coffee made with very clean water, choice of single origin beans for espresso or filter.
J. C.
Really good coffee and probably the best café in the area.
C. C.
Absolute best chai latte for my tastes. Amazing matcha latte as well.
M. K.
Good coffee and a nice environment to work in. Except there is no plugs, so you're on until your laptop battery lasts! ;-)
I. S.
The coffee and atmosphere here is lovely. I've tried a couple of sandwiches here and they were so so. However, I keep coming back for the coffee!
A. A.
Nice looking place with many tables.. Usually full of executives.. Nice variety of coffee blends.. definitely worth a visit for the coffee addict!!
G. M.
One of the best coffee shops around. Even the Croissants are amazing. Staff are miserable as sin mind.
F. K.
This place is bustling at office hours. Great vibe. Mu oat milk latte looked great but wasn't foamy enough.
T. B.
Most excellent coffee - well made and we'll sourced, great place
C. H.
Good coffee, reasonable selection of 'eats'. Could be cosier but for a work/meeting spot its good - and takeaway is prompt.
K. U.
Friendly staff, good atmosphere and great coffee. You can't go far wrong by coming here.
C. P.
Not impressed with coffee but above average. Popular with city people from around. Great deco but nothing special.
J. J. S.
Very good coffee from Has Bean and Square Mile. Very nice industrial decor. Attentive and very knowledgeable baristas.
C. S.
Perfect London City (Insurance market) coffee drinking experience. Avoid 11.00 when everyone descends for their mid morning break.
S. P.
Try to pop in here when in town. Great coffee and breakfast. Laid back atmosphere and friendly.
R. V.
Such a nice coffee place and one of the best coffee in the area.
