Reviews of Bare Brew
M. K.
Fantastic atmosphere, excellent coffee, the french toast was a dream. Very friendly service. Even got a water bowl for our dog. Everything you can ask for and more :)
A. M.
Food was good, well presented, I recommend the truffle benedicts (shakshuka is a bit dry) but it took more than 30minutes of wait for it to be ready unfortunately.
J. R. S.
Friendly staff, great coffee and tasty food (especially the truffled mushroom toastie and cakes). An asset to the local high street and one of the few places to keep (non-invasive) screens in place which add some feeling of security for those who remain concerned about Covid. Dog friendly too.
R. S.
Good food overall BUT could accommodate those with dietary requirements better. Staff not willing to amend dishes to suit gluten free or vegan....asked for the vegan bacon naan on gf toast but told not allowed. So ordered avocado smash which normally comes with egg. I wasn't able to swop out the egg for something else so in the end paid 14.50 for avocado on toast and 3 small slices of vegan bacon. Defo not worth that cost. Also ordered gluten free but they sent a normal order to me instead first. Yes it tasted good in the end but would have appreciated more flexibility on the menu. Whilst veganism is my choice, being gluten free is not.
D. C.
Very good coffee! Much better than other places I've been to. Just need some more creative vegan food options, but otherwise I love this place!
M. J.
Great coffee and some home made cakes. Lovely cosy atmosphere and you can take your dog with you in there too.
B. C.
I cannot believe I haven't visted sooner, what an absolutely gem in wanstead. Food was excellent and the staff where incredibly friendly.
S. B.
Incredibly tasty food and drinks, very friendly staff, great location, and reasonably priced. And you'll always bump into cute dogs - an added bonus!
h. n.
Litch LOVE everything about this place! The coffee is next level and the staff are the nicest and so welcoming :) oh and the foooood.... is insane! If you haven't been here yet then what have you been doing??? Go go gooooo
S. G.
Always serving great food and coffee

My first visit since lockdown...their first day opened (4th July ). Staff have done a FANTASTIC job in keeping all their customers safe. I felt really comfortable and sooooo enjoyed my double shot Cortado 😋
ALL staff were wearing masks, tables beautifully separated with screens, and cleaned in between customers. You can order on their phone app, so you don't have to line up. (download from their website). Can't wait to visit again!!! Thanks guys great job 👍
Best coffee in Wanstead! Great friendly staff, lovely place to visit for a good coffee and a bite to eat. Try their festive falafels.... hot banana bread and of course their excellent double shot Cortado 🌼
Try out their new Mushroom Melt ✳️
Ginger and Date loaf...✳️
Brilliant funky 'weekend only' seating round the back... lots of social distancing outside tables, decorative foliage, outdoor lights, quirky mismatch furniture such a great space, I highly recommend a visit...all under cover too!!
X. W.
Lovely vibe here! Very dog friendly with treats and water bowls. Great staff and delicious breakfast with chilli jam! On the cosy side, so might not get a seat straight away, as it is understandably rather popular.
V. K.
Such a great place with amazing food! I highly recommend the mushroom naan wrap, it’s just so delicious! Staff are always so friendly too!
K. M.
Amazing brunch/lunch spot. Thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks here and loved the vibe of the place - very welcoming and friendly! Will def visit again!
D. M. J.
Real good lattes and a concise but rich choice of breakfast from vegan to bacon! I had a vegan protein smoothie bowl, which was yummy. Kind staff and lovely atmosphere!
L. M.
Just incredible Shakshuka - so good I could weep!! 🥲 like being back in Morocco - Is that chopped pistachio its topped with? 👌🏼🏆🥰
b. m.
As a true food lover, I can vouch that you won’t be disappointed. Being a keen fan of good brunch I do appreciate Bare Brews food and whatever you do pick I’m certain who ever you are you’ll like it. couldn’t recommend it more. A true gem.
B. R.
Nice enough place but extortionate charge for non- dairy milks. Not on the chalkboard price list but they charged 50 p extra for a tiny amount of soya milk. I guess they are embarrassed by the price so they don't advertise it.
EDIT
I went back to Bare Brew, got a fulsome apology from Gemma, which was accepted and understood, plus she comped me the coffee as promised. All is good with the world :-).
I have also upped my star rating from 2 to 4 now.
c. m.
The vegan meatball rogan josh naan is out of this world! Find myself making an excuse most days to pop in for a coffee which is 10/10
S. G.
All good here, had a tasty bunch and enjoyed the warmth. The area’s nice as well, almost like a town.
On a Saturday the kitchen closes at 3pm so get there earlier if you fancy food.
P. K.
I love this place, it's my go to coffee shop for brunch on a Sunday morning, it so welcoming and friendly.
I usually have one of their bagels or sourdough items, they are always tasty, and full of flavour and well presented on the plate, and the coffee is strong and smooth, just how I like it.
Recommended for a quick coffee or lunch.
T. D.
The place is small but really great. The staff is kind and the food is awesome. It's not too much expensive and the place is not crowded so you can bè served pretty fast. There are even toys for the kids. I loved it.
C. N.
Got a mocha from here, it was wonderful. I love good coffee and I’m always on the lookout for good spots - I wasn’t disappointed! Would definitely return.
D. L.
We love this place. Best coffee in town, great vibe, super friendly staff, really delicious food and environmental friendly!! They always go above and beyond our expectations even during lockdown.
We can't wait to be able to sit inside again and enjoy their delicious brunches and company. Keep it up guys!
D. P.
Absolutely delicious food and lovely owners and staff. Can’t wait till our next visit!
L. R.
Delicious açai bowl reminiscent of the ones back home in California (might I suggest goji berries though, such a nice addition that I really miss)! Wonderful decaf coffee which is always hard to find. Excited to try the rest of the menu. Lovely service.
J. W.
Excellent atmosphere, stunning food. Great little find in Wanstead
B. S.
Such delish food and lovely customer service. The pistachio latte 😍
E. D.
Lovely staff and very nice brunch especially the shakshuka
P. S.
Bacon breakfast naan... who knew that would work so well? Coffee is also great!
K. D.
This place is great! Popped in for breakfast - highly recommend the mushroom and egg naan it's delicious 🤤. Friendly and quick service. Lovely vibe.
D. F.
Lovely place to have brunch on Wanstead High Street. A bit pricey. The food was lovely and staff very attentive.
T. M.
Warm, friendly staff. Excellent chai latte!
J. W.
Lovely little spot on the high street, only stopped for coffee but the food menu was very tempting - will be back!
Dog friendly too.
c. r.
Great coffee, tasty food (try the shakshuka), warm service, very cool atmosphere. Love this place.
J. G.
Good choice of food and drink but felt a little overcrowded despite social distancing measures taken.
I was sat at the second or third table in on the right hand side. Every single person that entered passed directly behind me (within 50cm) & a couple of people even knocked my chair as the walked further into the shop.
The screens between the tables were a pleasant addition. However, the tables felt too close to one another in my opinion.
Overall good little place though :-)
K. S.
Just wanted to leave a quick review saying how fantastic the brunch was, how well thought out all the safety measure are and how nice the team were! Hugely recommend, so glad to have been finally been able to try out Bare Brew after moving to the area just before lockdown!
L. H.
Love this place! The yummiest brunches, including savoury breakfast stacks with all the halloumi and avocado you can shake a stick at, plus sweet options, cakes and smoothies. The staff are really friendly too and the coffee is great - so happy this place has come to Wanstead!
P. R.
Our new favourite cafe. Mushroom nan is off the hook!
L. S.
We love this cozy place. The food is great and the cakes especially delicious. The service is friendly. They have seasonal treats, including simnel at Easter which is quite rare to find. Tea is served in pleasing pots, often with a cup and saucer. Good selection of toys for little ones in the back. Breastfeeding friendly. Family friendly, but still often a good place for quiet lunches or working.
s. d.
Great Cafe . Great Options. Great Price. Great atmosphere.
M. W.
I have been waiting for the whole of lockdown for Bare Brew to open. The day has finally come. The coffee here is the best. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They have done so much prep for the post covid open. The amount of work that has gone into keeping people safe is impressive. If you havent been, you need to go!
T.
Lovely dog friendly café with nice healthy menu too. Decent coffee.
K. M.
I was in the area for a couple of weeks, having to fulfil my civic duty at the nearby crown court, and came to Bare Brew every day for coffee and lunch. Fantastic! Loved the variety of bagels and cakes on offer, and the coffee was a treat! Highly recommend.
P. M.
Great food and service as always!
J. S.
Used to live on the same street and would swing by every weekend for a coffee for me and my gf. We've always loved the coffee there, best we've ever had. Unfortunately we moved away and that's one of the places we really miss. We still plan on going for a walk there every weekend when the weather is warmer again and pop in for our usual latte and flat white!
Amazing staff, amazing coffee, amazing desserts, and even though I don't own a dog, love seeing dogs in there.
A. M.
Love the coffee and fresh cakes here. I normally come here during my lunch break to eat a sandwich or especial dish, and then, I have a slice of cake for takeaway. The atmosphere is quite relaxing and the service very efficient.
I. M.
Excellent service and best coffee on the high street. Lovely, friendly staff who provided an informative insight on the hollow ponds bear haha! See you next time 👋🏻
A. Y.
The staff are really friendly and accommodating. This pet friendly cafe is a fantastic place to relax with a coffee or food. The Reuben bagel is amazing and I would highly recommend it! It is a laid back venue with comfortable sofas!
R. A.
Friendly vibe, great coffee and food menu. Well done Covid measures.
S. E.
The food is always delicious and the coffee is superb. Probably one of the best coffee I've had in London.
J. C.
Great coffee and really friendly.
I didn't have any food, but I saw some of the other customers' food and it looked awesome.
Next time I'll have brunch here!
Plus, baby friendly, and changing facilities in the disabled toilet 😀
I. B.
Friendly service with good coffee. Their toasted banana bread is recommended.
Great to see an independent shop in the high street, and not another characterless chain.
Dog friendly (thank you for the dog treats) with a great atmosphere.
S. B.
I came in here to complete some work as I read on their website that they were laptop friendly and it was open very early.
I had the banana coffee to start which tasted like nothing I’ve ever had before! Also caffeinated which was a must.
I was getting wound up with the WiFi unfortunately but all my stress and problems were forgotten as they brought out my breakfast. The veggie stack a gorgeous plate of sourdough, avocado, Halloumi and a poached egg. Homemade jams and hot tea, expect to let out a loud aaaaahhhhhh.
I may not have got all the work done I needed to but I was very well looked after.
S. P.
Been here for breakfast around 3/4 times in the last month and the food is amazing. Keep meaning to take a photo but forgetting. The coffee is exceptionally nice and just had a good vibe. Great spot.
Z. R.
Great to see such a place on our high street. Staff is friendly and the coffee taste real nice. I do like your glass coffee cups but it's almost impossible to drink the coffee as they get crazy hot ;)) just a thought!
A. M.
We hosted a 40th birthday party here and it was a huge success. The ambience was warm and cosy, and it was the ideal size for 30-40 people. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful too, and made delicious cocktails.
E. W.
Amazing delicious brunch and coffee, fab service, cool decor, adore Bare Brew. And now have all the covid secure things such as screens between tables.
L. M.
Love this coffee house, amazing coffee, lovely staff and dogs are welcome, winner!! Thanks guys x
O. F.
Great local coffee shop that serves delicious breakfast and the best tasting coffee in the area. Love coming here for brunch!
S. S.
Really amazing coffee (actually...it's Square Mile), really delicious bagel, cute atmosphere (lots of queer flags! ❤). Wish they had more vegan options.
M. G.
Basically everything Gails should be but isn't. Better food, better cakes, better coffee. Nicer staff (who actually know what they're doing). 100% cleaner. Plus with a license and live music sessions. Brilliant!
J. M.
Great for coffee and food but PLEASE fix the door! If you sit in the front prepare to freeze as the door opens itself and/or nobody bothers to close it. Such an easy fix that would make sitting in much more pleasant.
M. P.
Best brunch and coffee place in Wanstead with an amazing and welcoming staff that will make you feel like home. Covid compliant and with a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended!
E. M.
❤️ breakfast and vibe here
T. D.
The coffee is superb, the staff are friendly, and atmosphere cool. Gradually introducing more yummy food to the menu. Just need to get this place an alcohol licence and open in the evening and it'll be totally unique to Wanstead.
R.
Good service, excellent food and that extra bonus of your dog also being welcome
F. G.
Coffee was ok, I was expecting more but perhaps they had an off day so I'll try agai soon. Sadly doesn't open until 9am, which is poor for a coffee shop lets be honest.
L. D.
Delicious soya latte, velvet smooth, and not too weak or too strong. Lovely vegan stack too, sour dough toast with avocado, cherry tomatoes, chestnut mushrooms, mixed seed's and tomatoe relish.Tasty!
A. S.
Lovely food and friendly service. Expensive, but the servings are generous. Compact, but deceptively accommodating, and there are some kid-friendly board games to keep munchkins happy.
K. D.
Tasty coffee (from award winning Square Mile coffee roasters), served with a smile. Really friendly vibe and great to see an independent coffee shop on the High Street. Their range of sour dough sarnies are the bomb!
D. D.
Fantastic place to grab a flat white and breakfast. The staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
A. D.
Coffee was good, staff were nice, cannot wait till things are a bit more normal and I can have a sit down there.

Staff very friendly but the coffee was really poor I drink Americano and have in many different coffee shops over many years but you could see through their coffee as it was so weak so not impressed.
