Reviews of Katsute 100
T. W.
A nice place to have some authentic Japanese teas. Note that they do not serve any savouries, only cakes. Very cosy place if not too crowded because the acoustics can be quite noisy when fellow patrons of the cafe talk very loudly, all at the same time.
S. F.
What a lovely place!
The tea selection is great and the one I had was delicious.
I couldn't resist having a slice of cake... looked amazing and tasted even better, couldn't wait to eat it so I didn't even take a picture.
Great service, the people working there are lovely and the costumers were also friendly.
What a gem of a place to stumble into!
C. T.
Such a cute and quiant little spot tucked away from the main road. Managed to find a spot to sit in and take in the decor whilst enjoying a cake and latte. There's a fairly big menu so will have to come again to try them all!
E. B.
I don’t live in the area but I make an effort to go to this cafe 2-3 times a month. I love the calm atmosphere in here, the people talking gently, some working on their laptops. It’s warm and welcoming. There’s a lovely back garden and a majestic Savannah cat you might be lucky enough to see. Obviously the cakes, tea and sake are all brilliant, too!
ち.
The prettiest and freshest Japanese style desserts; they often have strawberry shortcake, chestnut monblanc (as a torte) and ichigo daifuku (mochi). Also some of the best quality tea; the genmaicha latte is my favourite. I love the attention to detail with the decor--it has a vintage, maybe 1920s Japanese-style look indoors, and the outdoor seating area is very well-maintained too.
I've never once been disappointed ♡
A.
Suoer cute japanese cafe! I love their matcha latte and cakes, though their sesame latte is not sweet enough for me haha. They sell different types of japanese tea and tea bags. And also have a cute garden outside perfect for the summer. Highly reccommend!
S. N.
Liked the Sakura tea, albeit slightly unusual salty flavor. Definitely worth trying. The crepe cake was delightful and generous in portion. The tea and the cake complimented each other well.
C. N.
Lovely small Japanese coffee place which opens up until 8pm! The place is a bit crowded during weekends but it is lovely during weekdays. They have amazing cakes that I tried each one every time I went here ♥️
A.
Such an oasis of calm with its woodsy Japanese interior and authentic high quality loose leaf teas that you can re-brew with hot water. I come here to switch off or to catch up with a friend over some deep topics and aromatic tea. Desert wise unfortunately not many vegan options, hopefully that will increase tho because those matcha cakes look incredible!
P.
Been here for over 3 times and I love it! Always order Matcha Latte and the Strawberry Shortcake. Sometimes it’s crowded but still a lovely place.
J. s.
A delightful cafe that I would easily recommend to anyone in the area. There is a nice open garden area behind the cafe as well as a well put together (cosy) interior. Definitely check out the croffle on the weekend. Crispy exterior with a soft fully interior paired with matcha ice cream. The matcha cake was a little too rich but that may be because I had too many other plates beforehand. The drinks are also solid no matter what you get. Some may find them a little sweet.
A. K.
This place was recommended to me by a friend so I was very excited to try it. We got there around an hour before closing and unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that there was only 4 cakes (3 different varieties) remaining.
We had the matcha cheesecake and the matcha latte, and the matcha latte was delicious and smooth. We liked the cheesecake also but it did taste fairly strongly of egg.
I would like to come back again and I'd hope that there will be more varieties of cakes to choose from.
E. V.
They are pretty good with matcha.
We love their matcha crepe and matcha cheese cake. Their matcha latte is also perfect. The only downsides are it is very busy so orders are messed up sometimes and only one overused toilet.
C. W.
Very nice atmosphere🧡 authentic cakes and drinks
Kyoho sencha + Black sesame chiffon cake
Y. C.
What I think is the best Japanese tea house in the area. It's nice to enjoy authentic Japanese tea with Japanese desserts in London. The matcha flavoured desserts are the absolute best. Staff was very welcoming and friendly along with the Japanese style interior which made the visit memorable. Definitely worth a visit and would surely recommend.
A. Y.
Very good matcha layered crêpe cake! The cake in the picture is abit destroyed because I took it home otherwise it looks much better when I bought it. The cake is not so sweet nor bitter, good for two people :) Will definitely go back to try other desserts!
L. N.
One of the most strongest matcha flavor crepes I've had in a long time!!!! Also love the hojicha latte here!!!
J. _.
Lovely little cafe. They do good cakes, ice cream and drinks. The matcha ice cream and crepe cake are very nice.
K.
Love the food, love the dessert. Matcha ice-cream runs out quickly so make sure you get there early!
G. T.
Such a cute spot for Matcha Lovers 🍵
Pre-covid I used to come here to study all the time as they have the cosiest little window seats in the front and a huge range of Japanese teas and cakes. Probably one of my favourite Japanese cafes in London.
A. S.
This is an adorable little cafe. Popped in for a Sunday evening drink & treat. We had the black sesame cake and the matcha hot chocolate - both divine 😍
N.
The cheesecake tasted light and worth to try, but the matcha latte was a bit weak!
They got back garden, not sure dog-friendly cafe!
Decor so Japanese and English mix.
S.
Beautiful interior and unique drink flavours. I tried the genmaicha latte, it had a really nice nutty flavour from the brown rice. The matcha hot chocolate had a balanced matcha and chocolate flavour without any bitterness.
S.
The tea and coffee was decent, I wasn't impressed with the cakes tbh.
m. m.
Have to say quite disappointing. The matcha dessert looked more appealing than how they actually taste. Overrated. Paid £25 and not worthy for the money unfortunately.
The texture of the mousse cake was more jelly-like, not creamy, and the tart smelled like it has been in the fridge for a while...
Matcha cheesecake was also not good, tasted nothing like matcha.
G.
Such an amazing little gem!
An authentic Japanese tea cafe, with a selection of tea and sake wares for purchase, I would recommend their strawberry daifuku in a heartbeat. Tried their new yuzu sencha cold brew for a change, it was really good.
Staff is lovely and attentive. Will need to come back again for a brunch experience... and a sake experience too :)!
V. Y.
The Japanese tea is so good. The cafe is decorated so well in traditional Japanese style. Beautiful !!
J. M.
Great desserts and teas (including a range of no/low caffeine). Would love to come back and try more!
R.
Matcha crepe cake, strawberry shortcake, iced matcha chai latte, and iced matcha latte were so delicious and creamy. Fast and kind service as well!
N. X.
Nice ambience (they’ve got a garden in the back) and lovely cakes. It’s always very busy. What can be better though is if the sesame latte can be smoother and not clumped at the bottom
C. S.
One of my best cafe finds in London! It's a Matcha and Japanese tea specialty cafe, where one can get really good quality and tasty matcha/houjicha latte, chai matcha latte, espresso matcha latte which are not too sweet! The desserts are also really delicious! Really liked the matcha brownie and matcha crepe cake. Not the most affordable but it's honestly quite reasonably priced. Service staff is cordial and efficient. Lovely atmosphere to meet people or do some work!
T. S.
The teas are wonderful. The cakes are delicious. The interior is very cosy. And OHMAGOD - the best cat. There we were, just enjoying our cakes when the most beautiful cat came out. Definitely visit this place.
W. W.
A new and delightful Japanese tea room (don't find many in the West). The tea and desserts are authentic as one would expect. The atmosphere is calm and Zen, just as long as you don't think about the prices.
I hope this place does well and more tea houses open. Although at £3.5-£5 for literally a cup worth of tea (sit in), it will put off a lot of people (myself included, who would otherwise frequent).
I also look forward to this place starting to serve sake ( they don't yet have licence to sell).
I recommend this place for people who want to treat themselves to a slice of Japanese culture.

Japan in London
Visited Katsute 100 on a recommendation from someone in the know and I wasn't disappointed. Situated just off the busy Islington through roads, Katsute is a piece of Japanese calm transported to London.
The tearoom is stylishly decorated and minimal but comfortable enough to stop for a while and linger over tea. I ordered a pot of sencha and was pleased to find that I could enjoy multiple infusions by helping myself to hot water from jugs by the counter.
The tea menu is extensive but also well chosen to include only the best Japanese teas such as; Gyokuro high grade senchas and fashionable matcha drinks. There are also interesting rare teas and seasonal specials such a sakura, spring cherry blossom tea.
This tea room is a genuine Japanese offering, reminding me of Kyoto's Ippodo. Best of all the staff are helpful and welcoming to all, so a great place to visit if you want to learn more about Japanese teas.
S. N.
Usually quite busy so it's might be difficult to grab a table at this lovely cafe. The atmosphere is very cosy. The matcha strawberry shortcake was absolutely delicious, as was the matcha crepe cake. The matcha white hot chocolate was also amazing, great if you have a bit of a sweet tooth. Really nice selection of Japanese teas available. Recommend houjicha.
c. c.
Me friend and I sat in the lovely heated back garden with our matcha lattes. It felt like such a lovely little hideout from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We didn't have cakes that day, but I have had their matcha millr cake previously, and they are lovely and not too sweet.
T. C.
Here's where you can find a nice cup of hojicha latte :)
J. G.
An extraordinary Japanese experience.
In the heart of Angel this small boutique tea room offering a unique variety of teas and cakes. The fantastic quality and the attention to the details give you the feeling you are a tourist in Japan.
I had the pleasure to enjoy their Uji Premium Gyokuro tea, which after a few infusions of the pot, you can eat the leaves with Ponzu Sauce.
Enjoy your experience :)
P. P.
Excellent selection of Japanese teas and sake. Cozy seating and atmosphere. Will be back!
Y. H.
One of my favorite cafes in London. Love the matcha crepe cake. There is matcha ice-cream there. As for the mochi-like thing with strawberry, well...comparatively not recommended. I don’t think the matcha latte is truly authentic though. It seems to me that it is more like green tea latte(real matcha is not bitter at all). I LOVE Mujicha latte there. If it’s your first time there, please try a piece of matcha crepe cake with iced mujicha latte.
P. F.
Really nice and quiet spot in my favourite Angel’s corner
E. C.
really authentic Japanese cake, very strong taste but not too overpowering with the sugar.
(PA shops was super busy on Saturday, hence the takeaway at my own apartment)
K. L.
Japanese cafe with japanese owner. Good vibes. Chill environment and atmosphere. There is good selections of cakes served but it's depend on your luck as the owner make the cake herself freshly everyday. So you wouldn't guarantee the same cake or dessert everytimes you go. Vintage setting on decorations and a twist of japanese western vibe
J. M. C.
Love this little spot (the front of the place is quite small.. luckily there's seating in the back). Great options. Order so many treats and every one of them was delish! Green tea matcha crepe cake was out of this world!!!
J. H.
The strawberry shortcake was nice and fluffy, but didn't taste very fresh (I went on Saturday.) Matcha Latte was good, the normal latte is good, but not as good as some other places nearby.
A. M.
It is the only place where you can spend Japanese style cafe time at Angel.
Japanese sweets that can be eaten at this shop are made by Japanese people at the shop. All the sweets are elegant and close to the Japanese taste.
You can also buy Japanese dish plates and sake here.
J. C.
A little hideaway for serious tea drinkers minutes from Angel station and Upper Street. A good selection of matcha-based desserts, sake and whiskey too. Curiously, not a single table had an even surface though.
l. l.
Hey if you are reading this review please stop for a moment and come in.
Katsute such an incredible Japanese Tea Room in Camden Passage - Islington Angel.
Great selection of Japanese Tea and Sweets and is also possible to buy Japanese Ceramics and bottle of great Sake and Wiskey....
The Shop tastefully decorated is very cute and very quiet.
You must love it!
嘤.
Many varieties of tea including savoury ones like Konbu tea. Peaceful Japanese setting. Matcha cakes were a bit of lacking matcha flavour.
M. M.
Exelent experience here with an extensive range of hot drinks and knowledgeable staff. Decorated to be a pleasant environment with many of yhe items for sale. Eell worth a visit if in the area
V. V. W.
This small cafe is tucked on the back of the main street and if you think its quieter from the traffic, it is. Not with people. Inside Katsutse 100, its tiny with two separate dining rooms - one in front and the other, at the back. More of a sorbet texture. Katsutse 100 specialises in tea and also serves small sweet treats like cookies and cakes. They are predominantly Japanese and flavours are tea based - rice based and matcha are probably what I recognise.
The matcha ice-cream (£3.50) comes in a cone or cup. It has a very matcha green, slightly dirty green, like a tea. The texture is very much like a sorbet and therefore melts much too quickly. It has quite a fresh taste without the bitterness in a tea. It's not too sweet but I definitely like a stronger matcha taste.
C. M.
Love this place! Great matcha, good outdoor seating and delicious cakes! Authentic! (As far as I can tell).
y. h.
This has now become my favourite Japanese dessert and tea house to go to in Islington. It's a very small space so seats are limited. The green tea match pancake crepe cake is exquisite with the massive selection of Japanese tea to drink with it. There are ceramic bowls and traditional tea sets you can buy on site. Huge range of Japanese Sake. Hard to resist the temptation to buy the whole lot.
Japanese waitress are very polite and treat your food with delicate gestures making the whole experience wonderful. Do not expect a fast paced go go go type setting. This is a relaxing place where time seems to stand still whilst you enjoy tastes that are delicate and refreshing.
My fave place to go when I need to relax and decompress.
S. T.
This teahouse is so cute! It felt like I was in Japan with all the yummy treats. Only downside is that it's very small and cozy so not ideal for wheelchair users.
Wheelchair access ❌ Small step to get in and it's rather cramped inside, but that's how it is in Japan so at least it felt authentic 😋
A. A.
Almost missed this place, they sell a variety of matcha teas, lattes (with choice of standard, doy or oat milk with extra charges), desserts and sake. Served in a traditional style of crockery. You can help yourself to cold water, hot aswell to top up for your tea. The seating area reminds me of a Studio Ghibli movie. Very quaint and cosy, chsirs are all wooden, not the most comfortable but otherwise you will be there all day. Cakes were delicious, recommrnd the matcha crepe cake £5.80 sitting in.
E. K.
Terrible take away packaging with lots of Sellotape on top. The result is shown in the picture.
M.
Get the match cheesecake, its delicious! Light and satisfying! (The other one is a mango desert , also good but not as great as the matcha)
K. H.
Very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Equally pleasant staff and incredible matcha cakes, tea and ice cream. Quickly becoming a favourite of mine.
J. H.
A beautiful cosy, stylish Japanese tearoom that does incredible sweet treats. I loved the mont blanc chestnut cake so much I ordered the whole cake for my Mum's Birthday. It was absolutely beautifully created... It did not disappoint!
J. C.
Tiny but excellent. Proper Japanese style matcha, imaginative cakes packed with seasonal sakura elements (the sakura scone was superb) and more year-round adzuki bean-based ones. Not the cheapest, perhaps, but the best green tea iced cream I've had in a while, a nice little garden out back, and an excellent range has made this a new favourite. Like being back in Japan. Good stuff.
L. R.
A good selection of cakes, Japanese traditional sweets plus lots of teas and coffees. I had a houjicha latte, nice as not so many places in a London do them. It’s a little cramped though, it’s quite difficult to form a queue at the till as it’s right in the middle where the main walkway is. A couple of members of staff could do with being a bit friendlier.
Y.
Super cozy cafe with a good variety of Japanese tea and tasty cakes! They have all sort of cakes, not just matcha flavour and I always have fun choosing the cakes!
P.
The most lovely Japanese tea house in a very nice quiet spot of Angel. The caramel hojicha is probably the best tea I have ever had! Perfect to hang out with friends on a rainy afternoon or to get some work done. There is a working wifi and soft jazz music playing in the background.
v. m.
had the matcha crepes cake and the chai+matcha latte and they were delicious!! super lovely cafe in a lovely area in london! will definitely go back soon and i really recommend this place :-)
V. S.
3 stars might be a bit harsh? But the quality of food / beverage feels average. Ambience is lovely and quaint though.
S. “. H.
This quaint little tea house serves a variety of specialty Japanese tea and delightful looking cakes. I loved the fresh and delicate matcha crepe cake and mont blanc tart. The lychee tea was very fragrant. The atmosphere is really chill but I wish the seats had a bit more padding!
F. T.
A cute and great experience! I ate quality teas and cakes! Also the mochi was so soft and so good! The staff was very kind and the tea room was clean and with tipical japanese forniture.
M. A.
Cute and cosy gem in Angel. The cakes were light and fluffy, and the tea selection was every tea lovers dream. The staff were friendly and the ambiance of the place was great.
S. F.
Very nice and authentic place. The atmosphere is calm and very pleasant. Very good selection of teas and matcha. I am never disappointed:)
C. B.
A beautiful, peaceful place to unwind and take time to drink tea. They have an excellent selection of teas and cakes. We always try to visit whenever we're in town.
n. d.
A nice and chillax cafe. I would say this place is one of my hidden gems in London.
For the dessert, Matcha crepe cake and Chestnut Mon blanc are my favorites, which going well with hot green tea.
E. Z.
Amazing quality tea (plus cake) and very calming ambience! Service was fantastic too! Recommend the gyokuro (which is a shaded Japanese green tea) and hojicha latte (creamy and sweet milky tea).
R.
Had a fantastic experience at Katsute, and I can't wait to come back. Enjoyed a late night tea with my friends before closing time, and got a matcha green tea with this amazing matcha crepe cake. I've been dreaming of it ever since!
n. p.
Great Japanese tea selection at affordable prices.
The garden at the back is the best.
C. C.
Really nice and cozy vibe, authentic taste of Japanese sweets. They even have cherry blossom mochi ! But the store isn't really big so might have to wait during the busy hours.
E. M.
Nicely designed cafe with a great selection of teas and authentic Japanese cakes (they are less sweet) and I loved them!
M. L.
Beautiful tranquil experience trying matcha and another tea. Great ceramics too, and cakes such as sakura mochi which I thought I would never have the chance to try outside of Japan. The prices are very reasonable too.
D. S.
Amazing place, friendly and cosy. I had the matcha hot chocolate, sakura mochi and chocolate mochi. Excellent service as well as the quality of the products.
F. H.
Wonderful Japanese tea house. Although the price might seem pricey, its very rare you can enjoy authentic Japanese tea with Japanese (Western) cakes in London. The ambiance is wonderful. There's something quintessentially Japanese about this place and feels timeless. I especially love that they have a pot full of hot water available so you can re brew your tea whenever it suits you, every cafe should have this.
M. R.
The best iced matcha latte with oat milk I’ve had so far in London!! Its not too milky and their matcha has a strong taste
M. A.
A great Japanese cafe, tasty matchas 😍👌🏼. Try the matcha hot chocolate ... amazing
B. L.
Great service and excellent desserts. Love their cakes!!! And to end off with an unforgettable experience for the day, that will be with any drink it offers
D.
Wonderful Japanese tea in a simple setting... with snacks... and great sake. Lovely place to spend the morning or afternoon in company or on your own
S. K.
Nice and cosy Japanese teahouse. Superb Matcha cheesecake and tea. A minutes walk away from Angel station so definitely worth visiting.
E. H.
Cosy Japanese Tea House. Lovely teas and yummy matcha cakes being served. Large selection of Japanese sake available for purchase.
F. A.
I am not a fun of matcha myself but this place changed my mind. Do consider tho that is pricy.
J. P.
A small but cosy, reminiscent of an asian teashop (as it is), that serves some very flavourful soothing cups. Just chill there and time just melts away.
A. A.
The matcha cake was absolutely amazing. Flavor was rich without being overwhelming. The environment was beautiful and I can't wait to dine in again as soon as restrictions are lifted.
N. C.
The food served here was beautifully decorated and this is reflected in the price. It's slightly pricy considering that the portions aren't too big but it's worth a try at least.
S. L.
Best genmaicha latte and matcha crepe cake in town! Get those!
K. R.
We order matcha lattes and 2 different matcha cakes.
Everything was amazing!!!
H. C.
Very good tea. Strawberry shortcake was good. Cake was a bit dry but the cream was great.
A. G.
Very quiet and nice place. Good tea, excellent cakes. Prices are ok, quality is great. Recommend for everyone who likes tea.
L. H. C.
Great variety of teas, excellent ambiance and good customer services. Highly recommendable!
W. C.
Awesome Hojicha latte and great desserts. Ambience is on point too. Had great service from Samantha-san - will definitely go back again!
Z. B.
Very nice place and delicious cake and drinks. And lovely tea.
C. F.
Always find some great Japanese restaurant and cafe every summer vocation in London.
S. S.
Beautiful. Peaceful. Delicious.
In keeping with Japanese calmness and interior design, quiet oasis in Islington. The teas are very special, free top ups, and they sell beautiful tea cups and pots as well. Some light snacks and cakes were on display. Lovely coffee too for those not too keen on tea.
Y. K.
Their strawberry shortcake has the taste I was looking for, and nice matcha latte as well.
O. J.
The Genmaicha at Katsute 100 made me stop drinking regular espressos.
I. K.
the space is a bit small but the matcha selection is amazing!
T. D.
Pretty cafe located off the major street where antique shops used to located in the area.
Very good selections of Japanese tea both authentic and modern style. Also lovely cakes are available in the shop to go with the tea.
You can buy tea leaves they serve in the cafe as well.
Also this is a still hidden place to buy very good Japanese Sake and Spirits, carefully selected by the owner of the business. Irregular base but also sake and other events are held from time to time.
S. E.
Great tea imported from Japan. I purchase all my green tea from here now :) they also serve amazing desserts. It's a tad bit pricey, £5 for a cup of tea (you can top it up with water) but it's a nice treat for every now and then.
T. M.
Definitely the best Matcha in London! They have the best matcha dessert as well. Very authentic!
Y. P.
Very friendly staffs, nice antiques ambience, wide variety of selection of tea and above all super yummy matcha crepe cakes! 👍🏻
H. M.
This is the tea shop that made me first fall in love with Japanese tea, a good three years ago. I recently visited with my wife and I was again reminded what a wonderful establishment Katsute100 is. Fantastic tea, great tea snacks, and beautiful Japanese tea-ware on sale.
Unfortunately an item of importance to us was lost at some point during our evening; this could have happened at one of a number of venues, or when traveling between. The staff of Katsute100 really went out of their way to ensure that we had not left this item at their venue, responding to our online query well after closing, and searching thoroughly in the morning. We really appreciate them having gone out of their way for us; not only is Katsute100 a fantastic establishment well worth visiting, but their staff and management are lovely people as well.
H. G.
some of the best sencha tea I have ever been served in a cafe...
D. M.
Japanese tea shop. Personally wasn't a fan of the flavour however I don't know how Japanese tea should taste.
R. G.
Nice ceramics, fine cakes and sweets. Teas should be better. But not bad at all :)
J. F.
The cafe itself is a bit dark and cramped up but all good if you order for takeaways. Matcha crepe cake is fantastic and strong matcha flavour throughout
F. W.
Delicious matcha products and an excellent range of Sake at different price points, served with a customary Japanese level of service.
L. G.
Fantastic place to get cakes and teas!
You really need to try the matcha cheese cake and have some recommendations for the Japanese tea to go along.
You also can enjoy the terrace while sipping it all in the sun in the backyard!
Go go go!
R.
This is a really great place. Tranquil and nicely decorated. There are various imported items of Japanese pottery as well as a selection of sake for sale. The range of tea is great and there are many teas that are hard to find even at Japanese restaurants in the UK. A bit different from other tea shops in London and definitely worth a visit.
F. J.
Lovely tea house with many local Japanese teas I have never seen elsewhere. The gyokuro was excellently prepared, with low temperature water, and they provided soy sauce to eat the leaves afterwards. Service was very friendly.
Besides tea, they also sell Japanese cakes, and other interesting delicacies.
N. B.
Fantastic selection of cakes and teas, one of my favourite spots and the staff are super helpful. But often too busy (cos it's so good, clearly), and there's often hardly any space to move. Also, slightly pricey so I can't afford to enjoy it often enough. £10-15 a visit.. for tea and cake
D. H.
Excellent taste for the cakes and gorgeous cafe interior design (just the right mood I was expecting). I will definitely revisit this cafe again and would like to recommend to other people to visit for a nice break and enjoy the theme of this place and the awesome cake and tea!
A. J.
Great selection of matcha desserts, montclanc cake is delicious too.
K. K.
It was the first time I tried Japanese tea and I loved it! It's very different from your regular Earl Grey. Got a nice grass vibe to it. Definitely worth the price. The place also has a variety of desserts that are making the experience even better.
H. L.
Lovely sesame cheesecake
A. J.
Brilliant desserts! Slightly runny and a bit on the pricier side.
B. H. S.
A lovely cosy japanese-style cafe with friendly and smiley staff, good music (at the right volume), lovely dark wood furnishings and lovely teas! They've even got a garden too.
Small improvements would be:
-the chairs aren't that comfortable
-the garden needs some ornaments or something
-the wifi isn't the best
But these are just small details. Overall it's probably my favourite cafe in London!
E.
Great Japanese tea and dessert spot with seatings
S. X.
It's a small cozy shop, but my favorite thing is absolutely the cakes. They're not sickly sweet thanks in part to the fruit and matcha taking care of adding good flavour without a refined sugar overload. Definitely recommend.
e. h.
Went there to try out Japanese sencha - small shop with a variety of teas and cakes to eat.
I personally didn't enjoy the taste of the cakes or the tea, but nevertheless i could see it is quite popular with the locals and customers who enjoy Japanese tea's.
S. R.
This is one of my favourite cafes in London now, I'm slowly working my way round all the drinks and cakes! Had a matcha float yesterday, highly recommended on a warm day, the ice cream was so good. Their matcha is delicious and they have a lovely outside garden too.
M. A.
Wonderful and calm tea place with vegan options for the foodies ... their cakes are marvellous and very original.
The selection of hot drinks is huge and very varied. You should test their salty options. We only may regret that this is a.bit expensive. Very close to Anger station but shlightly away from the big avenue. Nice and quiet.
s. s.
Genuine good tasting and interesting food and drinks.
X. B.
Cozy Japanese tea house with matcha, wagashi and other Japanese cakes. Good tea selection, nice atmosphere. The gyokuro I had was brewed with water too hot for my liking but matcha affogatto was good and the tarlet was excellent.
J. R.
My first post lockdown café date and first time trying matcha tea - it was lovely along with the strawberry shortcake!
R. Z.
Brilliant. Best dessert is the matcha tart. It's so delicious and fraische. Great staff and they were nice and accomodating. Friendly. Good reccomendations. Authentic Japanese with great atmosphere. I mean I've been to Japan. And this is probably the closest it gets in London. Small business worth supporting.
E. C. W.
Great traditional Japanese teas and desserts. The tables are very small and seatings aren't the most comfortable. Also it's quite busy (I went on a Sunday afternoon) and the place is very very small. Might not be entirely my thang but it could be yours!
A. B.
A great tea shop for lovers of green tea. There’s so much choice here and the staff are super friendly and happy to help you find the right blend. Some of the teas are very strong so there’s plenty of hot water on hand to top up your pot. Space is limited and it does get busy but I’d highly recommend a visit.
N. P.
Great little Japanese tea house. Best green tea I have tasted and delicious matcha cakes as well. Not cheap but worth it for an occasional treat.
J. R.
Cute little place, quite cosy. Some lovely teas and sweets. The gyukuro was very enjoyable, and the matcha crepe cake was excellent: delicately flavored, not overpowering, and light yet creamy with a slight springy texture. Thinking about it is making me hungry again...
罗.
Wonderful daikufu or daifuku ,don't remember, anyway, taste sooooo good. And they have the wonderful ice cream.Thank you for the nice food.
E. V.
The place is tiny but very pleasant, the selection of matcha dessert and drinks is very broad. We tried the matcha cheesecake and the sakura cake, that was really tasty and a happy surprise for us.
J. V.
One of my favourite cafes in Angel. Great matcha and a variety of Japanese teas that they give extra water for to brew more. Fast sweet service too.
T. S.
Amazing Desserts and a Fascinating Tea Experience!
M. W.
Unique Oasis, great service and atmosphere. Had mushroom tea and hojicha, former is a hearty broth and latter is a light tea. Overall the teas were ok, nothing to write home about, but the environment deserves a look for a day when you need a nice place to sit and chat or contemplate.
B. S.
This place is amazing, a refuge from the hustle outside, and from the monoculture of hipster coffee places everywhere. Fantastic tea, beautiful interior, delicious pastries. This is my new favourite place in London!
D. M.
Good selection of Japanese tea served in beautiful ceramics. I had a gyokuro today, but it's great that this place also has other teas like konbu, shiitake and sakura - things I really miss from Japan.
E. I.
Food was ok, table wasn’t cleaned properly and staff not very friendly.
S. D.
My favorite neighborhood spot -- the teas are delicious, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, the decor and ambiance is ideal. Such a relaxing gem in busy area.
A.
Authentic and incredibly tasty Japanese teas and matcha desserts. You can even find the matcha Kitkat!
Very cosy place for a catch up with a friend. Small tables and seating area, not suitable for a group
V. B.
A serene haven amid the angel chaos. The teas are delightful and there are jugs of hot water provided to re-steep as many times as you like. Very authentic and authentically zen.
E. F.
Tranquil Japanese boutique and tea rooms with a delicious menu of Japanese teas and desserts. They serve tea lattes such as matcha and houjicha as well as loose leaf and infused teas. Desserts and wagashi include sakura mochi, matcha layer cake and fruit sandwich. The sakura mochi is vegan and you can also have non dairy milk in your lattes.
G. O.
I love the Victoria/Japanese atmosphere here. It's a very sexy place. It's quiet and you can sit and work without loud and annoying music playing in the background. I had a sandwich which I really enjoyed and the tea was relaxing.
D. T.
Nice place that is actually run by Japanese. The macha brownie was deliciously moist with a nice mellow macha flavour. The macha latte did the trick on a nice hot day. The range of extras they sell on the side, whilst pricey, are authentic and of excellent quality. As others have mentioned the atmosphere is suitably Japanese - calm, quiet and tranquil. If in Angel I'd highly recommend this place as you're getting a slice of something different rather than the usual Costa/Pret production line-style experience.
R. S.
A gem of a place. Tasty matcha treats and more. Tiny and feels a bit cramped, but cosy if you manage to find a little nook. Only improvement is that service could use a bit of efficiency optimization; presently, it seems a bit slow, even when there isn't much if a crowd.
H.
Delicious japanese pastries and hight quality tea. They also sell beautiful pottery and Japanese liquor.
M. B.
Such an amazing place! Lovely staff and literally tea heaven! Also the strawberry cake was very very delicious! Highly recommended!
M. B.
It is a small place but very cute and nice. Great place to work with your laptop, interior design and musics were also lovely. I really liked the dessert and the tea. Prices are not cheap though.
S.
Love the style of this place and the workers there were so social and we had a great chat about japanese language and other things.
The macha shortcake was perfect! And went well with my hojicha (a combo I always get) .
Will definitely go again^^
C. L.
Lovely place for traditional Japanese desserts and tea. A must visit for matcha lovers. Limited seating area is the only downside.
D. C.
Quiet Japanese tea house. There is seating in the garden out back, but can't bring the full tea pots out. Very chill and a good place to relax.
c. c.
Lovely atmosphere and cosy. Great tea and vegan friendly dessert available.
R. A.
Best matcha place in London! Feels like you are in Japan, when you are inside!
D. T.
Remarkable. Feel great even you just walked in. I explore stuff on the shelves like I walk in the museum (sounds pretty weird but everything looks amazing). Then I try Matcha crepe cake and oh dear, you have to try this. A bit big price tag but this is quality.
M. R.
Small and charming place, with a wonderful selection of teas. Stays open to a reasonable hour as well, which makes it a perfect stop for an after dinner drink.
J. D.
Kasute 100 is a hidden gem within Islington.
Their matcha crepe desert is the best I’ve ever tasted!
Q. G.
My favourite cafe in London for matcha and cake

Great range of Japanese tea, with delicious pairing with dessert. Friendly staff. Beautiful tea sets are sold here, as well as tea leaves.
G. v. R.
Perfect Japanese teas and cakes, lovely atmosphere. Haven't had Sakura mochi since Japan and it was absolutely perfect.
A. C.
Wonderful Japanese tea room with authentic tea and a nice selection of sake and Japanese desserts. The place feels like being in Japan.
M. M.
The Japanese tea comes in a high quality and it’s prepared in the traditional way!!! For example: Water got the perfect temperature! Love it!
L. k.
Good tea and atmosphere!
A. A. B.
Matcha latte was too strong, and the matcha crepe cake was not fresh and had too much cream.
D. R.
Wonderful. Delicious teas; kind, knowledgeable and lovely staff; and beautiful setting, whether in the cute interior or the peaceful, pretty garden. I always emerge from there so relaxed!
O. H.
Cute shop. Really nice matcha shaved ice.
M. F.
Beautiful place with a good selection of teas, sake and pastries and it has cute little garden in the back where you can just sit and enjoy your tea.

K. e.
I got an iced coffee that was absolutely delicious, it really hit the spot on this super hot day, thank you so much, definitely considering to come again
S. D.
Just the most Amazing tea, as well as an incredible yet grossly underutilised garden
A. P.
Best thing ever: espresso matcha latte. The reason my bank account is depleted during my time near this place.
M. K.
Cosy place, sometimes very paced. Shakira chai and matchable cheesecake are delicious. Good place for meeting with friends or to go to the date.
A. A.
Matcha crepe cake is a MUST have.
R. X.
Nice modern Japanese cafe but too many people in small space.
E. C.
The best matcha latte in the area...
T. S.
They have a peaceful back garden. They just need to make it a proper Japanese Zen garden and add the water element to make this perfect. Try dorayaki here.
F. A.
Little tea house nestled in one of the lanes off the high street... The staff are not too engaging and didn't seem knowledgeable in the teas apart from serving off the menu, can get a little crammed...
D. N.
Pricy. Small little tea house so finding a seat or two is difficult.
O.
Friendly service every time I go in, I always enjoy a nice chat.
S. K.
Zen cafe with many Japanese tea selection.
F. G.
Their matcha white hot Chocolat is excellent and the staff is adorable. Will definitely come back
A. N.
Everything was good. But Japanese staffs, please do not talk about customers in Japanese. Many people can speak Japanese than you think.
E.
An oasis of calm. Loved the cozy decor, delicious Japanese desserts and authentic tea selection.
K. W.
Lovely Japanese cafe; amazing green tea strawberry cake and hojicha latte

(Translated) I had brown rice tea latte and marron cake. The Japanese decoration inside the store, the atmosphere, and the polite response of the clerk were wonderful. And both the latte and the marron cake were insanely delicious. I will definitely come again.

(Translated) It was delicious, but the service was poor. I had to go all the way to ask for it myself, and I couldn't see any care for customers such as welcome to the seats or going to the seats. The atmosphere and food are nice but unfortunate.

(Translated) good to eat! ! ! ! !
Ordered Matcha Melaleuca and Sakura Matcha
Melaleuca really likes it because I don’t like too sweet cakes, but his matcha Melaleuca has bitter matcha powder, which is great! !
I want to eat matcha in London and come here! ! ! ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

(Translated) A particularly successful Japanese atmosphere: believe me I come back from Japan and here we find real matcha;)
The pastries are excellent and again we find a lot of typical Japanese stuff!
A small point of penalty on the other hand because the tables are super tight and it is not super pleasant! In addition the prices are really high.
Note the presence of an untested terrace because it is cold in winter;)
(Original)

(Translated) We went on a weekday afternoon with a friend, but it was almost full. I had a Matcha Mont Blanc cake and it was delicious. There was also a Japanese clerk, and I was relieved to see it move. The owner is not Japanese, but it is a very nice cafe. I'm glad if there is more room between seats. I felt somewhat cramped.

(Translated) A lot of taste! The atmosphere is both rustic and elegant between wood, ceramics, silverware, and beautiful lighting. The cakes are delicious and the teas of very good quality. The welcome and the service are smiling and precise. And what about tea services ?! Certainly one of the most beautiful tea houses in London (and yet the choice is not lacking). In addition, it is close to the antique market of Camden Passage.
(Original)

(Translated) Japanese teas and techniques for quick but substantial introduction to Japan's tea culture. The first room, pick and go, the second for quiet work and the garden for silence or for conversation, depending on the time. I got iced hojicha tea for £ 3.80.
