Reviews of Muffin Man Tea Shop

I’ve been coming here since 2013 and have recommended this place to so many people. Honestly the scones are amazing, i’d come here just for these. For me this is the best afternoon tea place in London. And I love the cozy casual vibe here. Tomato soup is delicious as well and you can never go wrong with their sandwiches. Prices are really affordable, although its cash only so better be well prepared. Portions are good too.
E. K.
This small cafe has a cosy interior and a pretty equipped cafe menu with probably the best scones I’ve ever tried in London. Everything is affordable and they offer a student discount too!
G. T.
Visited this place on my very first London trip since 2014. One of my favourite local English breakfast to dine in.
The scones, fluffy and fragrant, is a must try.
Next on the list would be their jacket potatoes!
P. A.
Very delicious and affordable. The scone was amazing. Warm and buttery. The sandwiches were full of flavour and could be the whole meal for £4!
A. L.
This is a real discovery. Excellent value, super service from friendly staff. We found it by chance today, but will come out of our way to visit again. It has a really calm and tranquil vibe.
There's a lot to choose from on the menu and everyone else seems to be enjoying delicious food.
S. B.
What a find, staying close by thought we'd try here for breakfast.... result, really nice breakfast, lots of choice and all freshly cooked, the servers were very pleasant and it was a very enjoyable experience 10/10 😁😁
D. Y.
Their cream tea ( scones and tea) is always very nice and I would come back again ! Carrot juice is also very fresh
m. w.
Nice homely Tea shop with an extensive menu, Had a Halloume salad which was delicious. Sorry photo was after I almost finished it. 😊

Super food, great coffee, excellent service, what's not to like about The Muffin Man. We stumbled upon this cafe by chance, it will now be out go to place for Brunch when in London. The cafe was busy, it was Saturday midday, the service was still excellent, very efficient and attentive and the presentation of the food was spot on. The Club sandwich was top rate as was my wife's teacake with extra cake on the side. Highly recommended this cafe, well done to the staff.
A. R.
Excellent service from waitress. Attentive but not overpowering. The food was good quality and well cooked. An excellent tea room and well worth a visit.
h. D.
Very tasty food and extremely nice people whom served us !!!
I was intrigued by the look and the history of that place
Q. X. T.
Best scones I've had! Reasonably priced too (: it's a chill tea shop tucked in the corner, nice place to spend your afternoon!
B. L.
It was cute here and the prices here are awesome. Just be prepared to wait when you visit.
N. M.
Small independent business. Simple breakfast fare.
R. L.
An enjoyable dining experience. Good scones, tea and sandwiches. It was during a London heatwave and that was the only thing that put a damper on our experience as like most UK establishments, there was no ac. Would have been nice to dine al fresco and watch the people go by.
E.
Great place for afternoon tea!
The scones were delightful with a pot of black tea.
We also tried the lychee tea which was refreshing and light.
Enjoyed our visit to this quaint cafe in the Kensington borough!
Would definitely be back here in the near future!
W. Q.
Best scones ever! Nowhere else comes close. A perfect trip to London is never complete without a visit to Muffin Man Tea Shop! Located in a very convenient location that’s easy to get to, staff are friendly and a comfortable place to dine at.
K. P.
Cute atmosphere and fairly cheap prices for an afternoon tea. Staff was nice though not overtly friendly. Scones were okay, we thought they were a little small compared to other places we’ve been for Cream Tea. Otherwise it was charming and pleasant tea time.
Y. L. T.
I found the food very nice and the wait staff was fairly hospitable when we couldn't decide which tea to order. The food was served quickly and we were allowed to savour our tea after we had finished our food. Would definitely come back again if we have the chance.
H. A. L.
Very cosy tea shop serving amazing cakes and tea at an affordable price. Would specially recommend their carrot cake as well as scones set. Sandwiches are yummy as well. Would definitely want to go back again 😊
D. B.
Food quality is good but slightly overpriced because it is close to High St Kensington. The place was too hot. We had to get rid of all the clothes. Friendly staff. The cafe was full of tourists maybe because of hotel nearby.
E. H.
My most favorite place for breakfast and tea break! Very delicious, reasonable and quick service. Make sure to have some cash as it is cash only cafe.
A. D.
Cozy, it’s like walking back in time and entering an old tea shop. Their menu is rich and the have several options for breakfast, lunch, desserts and afternoon teas. You MUST try their warm scones with jam and clotted cream. It’s probably the best scone I have had in a long time. Staff is nice and friendly. Their kitchen is really tiny but that’s the beauty! You can hear the cooks preparing your meal right behind you. Come prepared and bring cash. They don’t accept cards. There is a bank just across the road from High Street Kensington station. Average price for a brunch for two with scrambled eggs, salmon and sausage, OJ, coffe/tea, toast, and a couple of scones with jam and cream is about £20.
D.
Scones are amazing, definitely try the Devon tea set. Went back to muffin man a few times for breakfast and brunch.
The muffin man breakfast was nothing special. I really love carrot cake in general but theirs just wasn't to my liking at all.
Neither was the apple pie, sadly.
The service isn't that great, the waitress would sweep all the previous crumbs left by customers onto the floor. On top of that we would have to wait a long time to get served. Sometimes she would forget out spreads or bread.
I. J. T.
Excellent price, good food. The Devon Cream Tea is lovely.
Unfortunately the waitresses were rude and the service was slow even few customers were in the shop.
Bring enough cash with you, cards are not accepted.
R. M.
Simple yet a cosy interior, the set up was very nice. After reading the reviews before my arrival, a lot was said about the staff but also that they had a vegan selection. I decided to try out this place with a friend who seemed to be very enthusiast about this traditional tea shop. When on arrival, it was quite busy which is to be expected. We were welcomed and placed at a table by the counter, overseeing the treats that they had to offer. When reading the menu, I couldn't find a single thing that fitted my dietary requirement besides the tea. Therefore, when the waitress arrived I asked whether they had any vegan options as I remembered from the reviews they had a selection of plant-based goods. However, the waitress asked whether I checked the menu. I said yes and that I couldn't find anything. She then stared and simply said well then we don't have anything if it's not on the menu. Surprised but not shocked I was content with just having tea. My Friend, on the other hand, ordered the set menu which she was quite happy with overall. The tea set up for me was delightful and quite cute. However, my problem with the tea shop isn't the quality but the staff. From our position, I watched as customers were treated harshly by the waitresses which put a downfall on our visit. Having worked as a waitress myself, I can understand the pressure of being a waitress, dealing with customers and the role of working. However, these waitresses didn't seem to be experienced as they were quite rude and fed up which I do not commend on. It would be lovely if this problem could be dealt with.
After finishing our meal and paying in cash. I noticed that on the counter they did, in the end, have a selection of vegan goods which slightly annoyed me as the waitress told me there were none. However overall the experience of being in a teashop was quite nice despite the employees. Would recommend for enjoying a cup of tea or having the set menu.
J. L.
Such a nice little tea shop. Great atmosphere for an authentic English experience. Many different options for teas. The breakfast was delicious! A must visit. (Also, be sure to bring cash!)
E. L.
Best scones and best clotted cream I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. IN ALL HONESTY better than the scones at Fortnum and mason high tea even. Went here 3 times in 3 weeks!!!
M.
Nice and cute little cafe/restaurant. Cake is a bit dry but the flavor is great! Muffin is so good, soft and toasted. Refill hot water for tea costs 60P.
P. A. S.
Close to the Kensington High Street, this old fashioned tea and lunch room is just what you want on a visit to London. A charming store front room with period decor. The lunch was good. And it was not too crowded.
K. H.
Amazing . Perfect scones. Buttery, melt in your mouth goodness. With a delicious dollop of Devon cream. I highly recommend their Devon Tea Set. 😁👍🏻
S. S.
Came here for afternoon tea and was absolutely taken by the cute presentation (as pictured below). It's a very cozy setting, though can get quite cramped when busy. We had the chocolate mousse cake, which didn't particularly stand out, but we really enjoyed the scones and tea. I'd say it's quite well-priced for afternoon tea as well (visited another place that had a scone and pot of tea for £9+, whereas we got 2 scones and tea for £6 here!)
E. P.
I don't know why, but there is something utterly charming about this place, even though many things about it are kind of awkward. But staff was friendly and there is nothing negative I could say about the food ♡
H. S.
Terrific little tea shop on a hidden corner of Kensington. We stopped for breakfast and the "full english" - though possibly not the most authentic - was very tasty. Food came quickly, and high marks to the servers who manage to be very attentive (extra hot water brought immediately when requested) even in the face of the tourist horde.
C. V.
Fantastic little spot with great prices. The biscuits were amazing! And the cake was quite good too.
V. C.
A cup of tea with a set of scones is the wonderful choice. Cream is amazingggggg!!!! Scone just perfect!
But just be aware that is you order 2 or 4 piece of scones it comes with “BUTTER” !!! Not cream 😭😭
H. C.
The earl grey blend tastes amazing! So was the queen's cake. Sandwiches that came in the tea set was just normal. service is fine. I'm excited to come and try the other teas!
C. W.
Such a gem in the neighbourhood. Been coming here for years. Best scones ever, seriously. Hot breakfast food also very good. Prices very decent and staff friendly. They now take card as well as cash.
S. K. T.
If u are looking for places with affordable high tea, which is cheaper than the more expensive and famous Fortnum & Mason located at Piccadilly Circus, this place at South Kensington would would be the place for u. My family thinks that it’s almost as good. For me, I think it is way beyond expectations.
J. A.
Incredible tea shop. My mom talked about visiting London 15 years ago and how there was a tea shop near her hotel that she'd walk to every evening and had the best pot of chamomile tea in her life. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember where that was. So we used Maps to guide us to the closest tea shop when we were in London and ended up finding her magical place! You know how sometimes you have thought about a place for so long, it no longer lives up to its memory? Not so for my mom. Still the best chamomile tea she's ever had, but this time she bought bags to take home with her. (I had the Earl Grey tea which was also phenomenal.)
It is a cash only establishment, but the prices are all reasonable.
k. t.
Located close to Kensington High Street underground station, this place is an excellent breakfast/brunch place. Despite its name, the best thing dish here is probably their scones. Food is reasonably priced and service is prompt. Never had to wait but be prepared to. Overall one of my favourite breakfast places in London.
R. E.
Tea was very weak and tasted of just water. Cakes were served before our sandwiches. The cakes are a little dry but go down well with tea.
Sandwiches were served 1 plate every 5 mins so our group ate at different times.
Kinda pricey for super basic food like a tuna sandwich.
S. J.
A lovely, cosy little spot for a relaxed Sunday morning breakfast. But get there early, as people are queuing outside to get a table. Staff are friendly and helpful and we didn't feel rushed despite others waiting to get in. Would definitely recommend a visit here.
V. H.
Really nice place, feels like home. The food taste really good. Everything is fresh and served nice. Customer service is nice. Highly recommend this place.
s. j.
Really great choies for breakfast and light lunch, good products quality and cute place! Can only recommend!
J. C.
Negligent service, had to ask the same thing over and over which ultimately made me feel discriminated vs other European-looking clients.
L. H.
Live these tea rooms. So welcoming. Great service too
A. D.
Absolutely adore this little tea shop. Despite its location, this is not a fancy place; it's cash-only and pretty tight quarters inside; but the best scones you could find. The cream tea is a great deal, I take all my London visitors here. The scones are grilled and toasty. The sandwiches are also very tasty, but my second favorite thing is the cheese omelette.
Z.
Nice and warm atmosphere. Food was delicious especially the scones.
Y. P.
Pleasant, slightly old-fashioned tea rooms. Good selection of light meals and snacks. Good coffee and appetising cakes and pastries.
H. W.
Highly recommended, particularly for the very friendly and helpful staff. First-class service!
C. Y.
Good vibe, very good scone!
C. L.
Really lovely way to start your day with Muffin Man. Excellent fresh omelette and beautiful scones.
R. G.
Delicious breakfast. Beautifully clean. Lovely attentive waitresses. Perfect start to the day.
L. F.
Great traditional English tea shop. Delicious Earl Grey tea and buttery crumpets. Reasonable prices for such a good location too. Worth a visit.
J.
really enjoyed the scones
M. R.
Really enjoyed " The Muffin Man Breakfast" here. The scones with Devon cream are to die for!!!
S. H.
Fantastic food, very good value, been there two years on the trot now
f. m.
food was great but staff were unfortunately unfriendly.
S. J.
Their cakes look nice but very dry!
M. B.
What a wonderful no-frills place to grab a British breakfast. Breakfast was delicious
S. H.
Oh. My. Gosh. What can I say. Such a good little find on a relaxing trip to London. We had an iced coffee with icecream (amazing), a strawberry milk shade (SO full of flavour) and two salads, the ceaser salad (the sauce was home made and delicious) and the Halloumi salad (freshest and tastiest salad I have ever eaten, the olives were gorgeous and the halloumi perfectly cooked). We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend and VERY reasonable on price.
D. H.
We were happy to find this little shop, a gem of British tea and breakfast tradition. You can find a good choice of different teas and other beverages. You can make your choice between different cakes, sandwiches and eggs for breakfast, also later in the day you won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly and quick. The shop, being small, offers a very nice atmosphere.
E. W.
Nicely situated close to Holiday Inn, good food, reasonable price. Can be busy but well managed.
Z. S.
Lovely, cozy and casual restaurant. Simple food made delicious with lots of variety. Great omelettes and fabulous desserts!
C. I. G.
Best scones ever. I love the place and the menu, everything is mouth watering.
L. L.
Local and independent coffee shop. Perfect place for the locals to meet and mothers with their buggies.
Fairly charges for tea and food looked and tasted good. The club sandwich was lovely and with a portion of crisps. Very filling.
Scones were warm and light.
Great place to seat by the window and watch people passing by.
Waitress was friendly and did not hurry us to order.
The decor is fine but a little tired and the carpet had few stains.
Be aware, They only take cash.
E.
Great restaurant/coffee ☕ shop with great food (I recommend their big delicious caesar salad) and great staff and service. Lovely place to visit again and again. Emmanuel
M. M.
We frequented here during our stay in London as it was right down the street from our hotel. Good tea, and a great breakfast in a quiet atmosphere. If I remember correctly they only take cash so that may be something to be aware of when going. It's also a nice place to sit and people watch or read the paper over a cup of tea. The prices were also very reasonable.
W.
Hats off to the chef who cooked such delicious Nutella filled pancakes and the panini was insane. Very cozy at home atmosphere and located in a very nice area.
C. F.
Not as good as it could be. Nice selection of sandwiches and cakes but feels a bit more like what you could do yourself at home than going out for a nice afternoon tea.
This place only accepts cash. Strange I know and I’m sure they have their reasons but better I tell you than you having to daah to a cash point once you’ve eaten.
j.
My first visit to muffin man a few streets away from Kensington high street so away from the hustle and bussle of the high street i took an elderly lady. I called ahead to check it was not busy. On arrival could choose where to sit as was not busy. They have screens to separate where necessary. I had a latte which was lovely and hot (as I like it) and my friend has a smoke salad toasted sandwich which was very nice too All in all lovely cafe. Will visit again.
P. C.
On our last day visiting London, my family and I decided to treat ourselves to some scones and tea nearby. Although they only take cash, the service and food here is fantastic. We were seated straight away and our orders were taken quickly and arrived quickly too. We all ordered a Devon Cream Tea with English Breakfast and it blew us away, the ladies working here were lovely and the scones and tea were fantastic! If I ever return to London, I certainly will be visiting again.
S. N.
Lovely place to have a nice, delicious, healthy breakfast and lunch. Whilst attending a 4 day training event at the Tara Hotel this place was very handy convenience. The food is lovingly and freshly prepared and served by very efficient and professional staff. The fact that this lovely, quaint, corner-based cafe is so unassuming I believe is its most attractive asset. You feel at home with its lovely, warm, cosy ambience. Especially for overseas travellers, you cannot go wrong with a trip to the Muffin Man if you want a traditional taste of the UK. Enjoy!
S. C.
First visit. Lazy Sunday breakfast. Nice. Would be happy to return.
Y. X.
We have lived in the Kensington for a year so far, and this is our “comfort food” place we go to. The food are yummy, scones and cream especially!
The eating utensils are cute as well.
H. W.
Walked into Valerie patisserie and walked out determined to find a cheaper independent local Cafe in Kensington. Found this little gem just off the High St. Good service, charming place and tasty, generous portions. Five star food hygiene rating. Freshly squeezed orange juice and good coffee too. Try it.
J. M.
Lovely food which is reasonably priced. Served in a cute and welcoming environment. Unfortunately, the waitress was unnecessarily rude and made me feel on edge for the experience. She tripped over my feet 3 times and when I stood to pay she spoke to me in a belittling manner.
J. P.
Lovely little place, well priced and nice food.
s. I.
It’s one of the best scones I’ve had especially it’s toasted it’s warm scone which i never had. It was amazing! BUT the lady staff in black hair(not English, name was Justyna..?) was unfriendly and never smile I feel like I’m bothering her even though I’m customer I felt uncomfortable.
See the whole comments below, if you change staff you will have amazing comments with 5 stars and more customers.
I’d give 5stars and return if it was great service as taste
따뜻한 스콘이라 진짜 맛있는데
검은색머리 여자가 불친절 일하기 싫으먄 그만둬라...
J. V. A.
What a lovely place! Their breakfast was great, the toast had butter on it already and the meal comes standard with fresh orange juice on the side of your tea or coffee. Service was great and food came quick. As soon as you walk in there is a sign that says they only take cash so we just went to the Lloyd's ATM up the road. Really happy we gave it a shot. Best breakfast in the area. 👌
M. B.
I had a good club sandwich here. Very busy but staff were polite and efficient.
S. D.
Tiny place that is wonderful at tea-time!
Nice selection of food and although not in a terribly convenient
location, one is an oasis away from the crowds of Kensington
High Street.
Try their cakes or muffins.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
L. R.
Always good honest food and value
O. !.
Perfect place for scones and tea. Simply delicious!
L. C.
Lovely service but the full English breakfast was disappointing. Potato caje was rubbery as if it was already cooked and heated, sausage was tasty but not good quality. Scrambled egg was bland and could be improved cooked with a little milk. As an English woman, I have cooked and eaten many English breakfasts!
Service Charge was added at the till when not written on the bill - found this a bit strange.
I will not be returning, very disappointed in the cooking and quality.
K. R.
Loved this little spot. My mom and I stayed in the Holiday Inn right up the street, and this is a perfect spot for tea, coffee, breakfast, or a light lunch. Really great prices, and the tea and scones (with devon cream and jam) were delicious (it rivals the high tea scones and cream we ate at Fortnum and Mason recently!). Friendly staff and atmosphere. We recommend! Cash only though!
1. S. Y.
Ate here a couple of times already and the food is always fantastic. Excellent service and probably the best scones in London. Also, I mistakenly left my bag here and the staff ran after me to pass it back to me! I am so grateful. ☺️
P. S.
Visited this place for the past 7 years and while I highly recommend their breakfast and scones, food always served fast, their services can be inconsistent. Sometimes it’s alright but most of the time they seem unfriendly and rude. This time on Monday, there’s no queue I walked in and stood for awhile, saw an empty table and politely asked if I could take it so I don’t have to interrupt their busy service and the waitress (black hair) told me you NEED to queue outside and wait but yes you can take the table (if there’s no table I’d have waited). then when I’m ready to order I just signaled to her (obviously I’m just showing her she could take my order whenever she’s free) she once again said you NEED to wait. Ok yes mom. While I don’t expect a fine dining service but it’s quite mood dampening to communicate with such service language where there’s hardly any please and thank you
M. C.
Great tea room. I particularly enjoyed the Queen Mother's cake.
E. K.
Good tea and great scones, but the staff isn't very friendly. They only take cash. Nowadays it's really unacceptable that any establishment won't accept debit/creditcards. I had to go to an ATM down the street. Literally the only time during my vacation that I needed cash. Gave the change as tip at a nicer place. Just get with the times already.
T. C.
It's a small danish pastry with delicious kinds of cakes. Also they serve all day soup and breakfast as well. Lovely stuff very cosy atmosphere. I had carrot cake here and it was really good. The only thing that was bad for me that the coffee was instant coffee.
F. M.
Very good place for freshly prepared breakfast. In fact, it is very popular in the morning that some waiting might be required. Price is very reasonable and the quality of the food is fine. I found the service quite dry and very hasty - hence 3 stars. Be aware it is a CASH ONLY place.
J. V.
Trendy off-the-high-street tea shop. Small and intimate, can be a hot atmosphere in warm weather. Outside seating too. Full offering of teas, coffee, cakes, etc. Send back any stale item. Competent staff.
A. C.
Scones here are to die for! I always have the Devon Cream Tea Set - 2 scones and a pot of tea. It’s a pretty small cafe so it can get crowded quickly during peak hours. Do note that it’s cash only.
A. L.
Ordered the "Freshly Squeezed" breakfast set and the food was pretty good! I would advise against ordering coffee, it is quite.. it's not... It's just not up to European standards, let's leave it at that ;P
Tea was good. Service was below average, I'm afraid. Partner tried her best to speak English and asked a question but the response was not very kind? Well. I would return, but not to eat in, I guess.
J. A.
I went here for the first time two years ago with my mom, just because our hotel was down the street. They have the absolute best tuna panini I have ever had in my life. So good that when I went back to London with my friend this past month I dragged her all the way across the city to try it. Everything else is really lovely too.
M. B.
Lovely tea and lovely cakes in a cute, original setting in Kensington. Would definitely recommend the Queen mother cake! Prices are very good! It's the perfect place to rest tired tourist feet.
P. T.
Nice little tea room, but please don't think its typically English, who has a toasted muffin or toasted anything with a cream tea? no one! a fruit Scone or better still a hot scone out of the oven is the only acceptable way to enjoy a Cream Tea #jamfirst 👍
T. L.
If you don't mind slightly slow service and cash only payments, this is quite a nice place to have sandwiches and English scones. Small place means you are seated back to back with each other but it has a certain charm of an old English tea house.
R. J.
I would highly recommend tea and scones at the Muffin Man Tea Shop! You get two scones each, the selection of tea is delightful , the clotted cream is high quality and all for £6.30 per person! I was in food heavon! Only negative is there is not a selection of jam's to choose from.
M. C.
Awesome food. Great sandwiches.
S. M.
Saw this place on my way to do laundry, glad I stopped after doing laundry for breakfast. I will return. I would have getting this place 4 stars, except when it came time to pay. No credit cards accepted. I had £10 and €10. My meal with a slice of cake to go was £14. Thank goodness they accepted the Euros. I haven't found any place in Europe that serves an American style big breakfast.
M. V.
Absolutely love this place! Was here a couple of years ago but I keep thinking about it every time I use my tea strainer I bought there (which is often) ❤ Everything was delicious. Can't wait to return
A. W.
Nicely decorated tea shop with a great cake selection serving a good cream tea at only £6 per person. The wide windows make it a bright and welcoming space. Spend the whole afternoon there and would definitely come back.
A. Y.
Great cakes 🍰 and service 👍👏🏻
D. G.
Quaint good value cafe near Kensington High Street with great service varied menu and tasty food.
V.
I don't drink much tea so I can't speak much to their prices. It's easy to get to because it's close to the tube and several busses. It doesn't have a great view out the windows, but the interior is well-decorated and there's little street traffic outside. It's cash only, but we were able to pay USD (plus the exchange rate, of course).
D. L.
Lovely classic English tea room that sells light snacks, sandwiches, soup and so forth. Large portions at reasonable prices. Staff are lovely and always busy which speaks for itself.
S. L.
So apparently this place has one of the best scones in London... have you seen what scones they used? Personally saw them preparing using frozen Sainsbury’s scones 😂 nothing wrong with that but I just thought it’s overrated. Might as well get some Sainsbury’s at a fraction of the price (with better jam too)!
K. B.
Super cute place. CASH ONLY. Went for a tea and small lunch in the afternoon. I was by myself and wanted to sit by the window at a small table like the other solo diners. However, they sat me in the middle of the restaurant connected to 2 other tables. I asked if I could move to the open table by the window and they said no, it's for 4 people (even though there were 2 other ladies seated at the same type of table eating alone). So I say ok. then one of the ladies left and I asked if I could please take her table (hoping maybe this table was different for whatever reason). Again they say no. I really did enjoy my tea and the Muffin Man sandwich I ordered. But while I was eating another customer came in and sat at the table that I had wanted, by herself.
I was really upset by this I almost left but was too hungry lol. I work in customer service so I don't like to get rude. I asked twice, nicely, if I could please move and they told me no both times. I wanted to say something when I left because it's just unfair that others got exactly what I so politely asked for right in front of me. the least they could do was be consistent. I was dining alone and just wanted to sit comfortably out of the way of others. Anyways. Cute place. maybe next time I return they'll let me sit at a cute table by the window and mind my business.
OH and once I got my food I never saw my waitress again. I just wanted a refill of water!
H. M.
Love this place. Best toasties ever.

Suoer cozy and quiet! Filled with sweet elder ladies. I think it is like going to an Asian restaurant filled with Asian families. You know it is going to be good. The cakes are like my grandma's made from scratch. And the tea was loose leaf and tasty. We got the muffin man blend. Stepping back in time.
A. H.
I would become a muffin if I kept eating here. Great local spot, perfect for regulars and tourists alike and just off high street kent. Ideal selection of cakes to go with their array of teas. My favourite combo is the ‘Original muffin man sandwhich’, toasted of course. With the homemade Old English Apple Pie.
E. H.
The ladies always do a great job. Fresh, simple, full of flavor, and homey café for breakfast, lunch, or a Tea.
Y. A.
Such a beautiful food with lovely atmosphere ❤️
Z. S.
Really nice little tea shop in Kensington and they have some delicious cakes on offer. My only gripe is that they took cash only which left us running around looking for ATMs when it came time to pay the bill. Other than that it was lovely.
I. S.
My husband and I went there every day for breakfast during our last trip to London. Everyone that works there is lovely and the food is wonderful. Can't wait to go there for breakfast again during our next trip.
A. D.
I've been to London twice now, and both times I have stayed in the Earl's Court area. I found this place on my first trip, and it became my go to place for breakfast. It's good, cheap, and quite a bit of food. Be aware that they only take cash. I recommend this place to everyone!
C. H.
great muffin and scone
i love this place
P. B.
Pleasant surroundings and service. Breakfast nice, if a little expensive but it's Kensington after all.
X. Y. W.
A great stop for breakfast or tea. My friends and I have made it a point to come here everytime we are in London!
S. D.
We were surprused to hear that there were only not sweet muffins in the cafe. We were given a table right near the kitchen, where it was noisy. When I asked if we can have a table upstairs, we were told the upstairs area was closed. But in 10 minutes I saw people going there.
Ordered omeletes for two, two teas with scones and a cheesecake. The food was good. It all costed £31, including service. Overpriced.
P. H.
Great place, lots of amazing pastries. Excellent service, staff were very professional and accommodating, they made sure we're comfortable.
K. B.
Cosy little coffee shop just off the buzzing High Street Kensington. Having my regular coffee here on Saturdays as it is close by and the service is excellent. Food is alright though I had better, for example the lemon cake is extremely dry.. the lasagne however does it's good job and is exquisite. Prices are cheap to moderate considering the area. The service and atmosphere will make it worth every penny !
C. C.
The first thing that surprised me was the silence! They should definitely have some background music on! The place fully respected my expectations...honest with the prices, nice tea, scones and cake. It is definitely worth a try!
B. M.
Great to see this long established, proper, traditional english tea shop doing so well year after year. Says it all really. Avoid the chains and take a few extra steps - you'll be glad you did.
A. A.
Love the food, we’ve got the scones, panini and some cakes and they are all soo good. Love the service too, the servers are friendly :)
S. A.
Love it... quaint, fairly good value for the area. Wonderful atmosphere and their carrot cake is worth a trek across town. Was my regular for 6 years and I miss the muffin man very much.
M. H.
Just a wonderful little spot, made me feel right at home, lovely atmosphere
U. K.
Isolated from Kensington high street, this is a quaint and cosy place for a break from shopping. Lovely decor and the cupcakes really get you salivating. Lovely English tea. Go for the scones with jam, you'll thank me.
F.
Had a delicious afternoon tea with scones before flying to Munich. Nice café, friendly service and reasonable prices. Thank you.
J. D.
We really like this quaint little Cafe, very busy and despite that the crews were amazingly nice. We had breakfast there and it was very satisfying. Would love to go back again next time.
S. D.
Small place but very very cosy and with good prices for a tea or coffee. Despite the few seats available I would recommend to go there at least once if you live in the West End. Maybe a walk around Kensington Gardens before this Tea Shop should be something to consider doing whether you are a tourist or you live close.
A. A.
A very pleasant spot to enjoy tea and cake. The Queen's Mother cake, despite being recommended on their menu was a disapointment however, and left one with a feeling a regret given the other offerings.
A. M.
Excellent English breakfast!
J. P.
When I visited London and stayed at the Kensington Close Hotel, I went to the Muffin Man nearly every morning for breakfast. It is both quaint and elegant and I absolutely loved its charm. Not to mention the delicious muffins and pastries! Absolutely loved it.
S. P.
Great little tea place. The scones are marvellous.
N. A.
hidden gem in london. try the tomato soup and the scones are must have! always a must whenever im in london!
T. M.
Scones are crispy and delicious. Earl grey tea is so good. Not expensive but only accept cash
I. D.
One of our favourite spots in London for afternoon tea, nice vibe and affordable!
H. J. K.
Lovely small tea shop in Kensington! Can never go wrong with a Devon tea cream set and a Queen’s mother cake. Very nice atmosphere and very well priced!
L. F.
Great place for tea and scones. Lovely selection of sandwiches and tea infusions as well. Slightly stuffy as its summer but still enjoyable nonetheless
c. t.
Our favourite spot for some Amazing scones, nice tea, quaint ambience.
m. j.
Omelette with cheese and ham with a nice latte. Speedy service, food fresh and piping hot as well as tasty. Busy but not overcrowded . Visited 3 times on a 4 day trip!
T. _.
!!!!CASH ONLY!!!!
While this place is Cash Only, it almost turned me away as I generally don't carry cash. Food was good but service....that's another matter. While we saw three waiters, they seemed disorganized. A few times, I saw them run into each other with the tray full of food.
D. M.
I was surprised that the "poached egg on toast" was literally a hardboiled egg on a piece of toast.
Y. M.
A very nice place, tucked away next to Kensington high Street. Great cakes and scones, would definitely recommend.
Q. N. A. B.
The best scones in London 😍
F. D.
The best Gluten Free Bread in the world!!!! Food was so flavorful, service was spot and the specialty teas are AMAZING.... I had the dancing lovers tea...
D.
Lovely fresh tasty food, very friendly waitress and owner
D. O.
Cute little tea shop just off High Street Kensington - all their food is homemade and you can see the care they take over everything. I want to take my mum here for afternoon tea, as i'm sure she'd love it (and I possibly think it's better than the afternoon tea at Selfridges).
d. o.
Found this shop by chance. 4 of us all had something different and it was all beautiful. Fresh tasty and amazing quantity and definately not london prices. Cant wait for our next visit down there.
T. M. L.
Cute and cosy shop for brunch. Yummy English food i.e. Caesar salad and club sandwich. Have not tried their cakes and muffins. Quite cheap for this part of town.
E.
Texture of the scone was so lovely.
S. D.
Friendly & busy. Lovely liitle gem
M. L.
Great sandwich. Very crowded but good service. Tea was really good. Pity they’re not serving champagne in the afternoon.
D. S.
Very basic delicious food served by smiling waitresses happy to serve u. Tea comes brewed at your preference, not in tea bags. Carrot cake is to die for
E.
Amazing tea!! Great atmosphere that doesn't feel like I was in London. The shop also had old photographs of London and the shop. Felt like I traveled back in time
E. D.
Cute little tea shop. We enjoyed the biscuits and scones. Each person needs to order their own tea.
S. S. (.
Great British breakfast and scone was very tasty. Petite shop with British feel decoration. Located near high Kensington station.
L. F.
The cakes and tea were really good, but it is ridiculous not to have the possibility to pay by card in 2019, we did not have the receipt too. That's why only 3 stars.
J. M. L.
Muffin to die for. And wonderful atmosphere for insta pic.
S. A.
Great place to enjoy a cup of tea off the high Street
J. W.
Must visit... locals.tourists... Must go
I. T.
Scones are a bit different than normal but still quite good, tea was great.
M. V.
Best scone in London so far. I like to order the Devon cream tea set, which comes with 4 pieces of scone and a pot of tea.
m. k.
I had dinner at this restaurant.I ordered avocado salad and spaghetti bolognese. It was such a large portion.I couldn’t eat all.The waitress was so helpful. She put in the box for take it home.Scone is pretty good. The food is reasonable price. They receive only cash.
G. B.
A lovely little teashop hidden away in Kensington. Very reasonable prices, and a selection of cakes and sweet treats that looked amazing.
T.
Literally my favourite cafe for scones. They have a huge selection of teas and the staff are really friendly
W. T.
A very pleasant English breakfast experience. Gets crowded very quickly so do expect a bit of waiting time.
E. M.
Fun because it was a childhood memory for my wife as she visited here many times growing up. The food and atmosphere were delightful with a very pleasant staff.
P. S.
Great tea house in the middle of Kensington. Would be nice if they played some quiet classical music in the background while we were there. Other than that, it was a nice experience.
P. G.
Great selection of teas. We plumped for the red bush caramel velvet. Very good. Along with a cream tea. Delicious!
A. R.
Lovely place, with good coffee, quick service
J. H.
Fantastic!!! And if you're are American, they will give you all the ice in your drink that you want ( you have to still ask if course)!!! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner - you cannot go wrong here!
D. G.
i was in the hotel in front of this little tea shop. i did all my breakfast there because they have avery good variety of food and all delicius. very very very good
H. R.
We came across the tea shop by accident and were delighted we did. The food the drinks the staff the ambiance all 5 star. Loved it

Definitely go for the scones with clotted cream and jam! The other breakfast items we got were all right, nothing exceptional.
M. L.

H. D.
Cosy, quiet, fantastic value. A relic
T. T.
Excellent Tea ☕ cafe. Food excellent also. Nice to have a tea shop instead of boring coffee. Great for tourists.
n. s.
Great sandwiches and omlettes! Awesome staff and location but pretty overpriced.
M. F.
The food is great there however for the price you do not get to much and they do not accept credit cards we had an issue with the place because we were unable to pay. However everything else was wonderful!
G. F.
Very nice local eatery. Excellent food and excellent service! I would recommend for a nice lunch or dessert.
J. S.
Had such a nice fill English breakfast here when I visited a few years ago. It still stands out as one of my favorite breakfasts of that trip.
H. A.
Good scones. Nice ambience. The tables and seats are a little overly packed though.
I.
Great place that does a fantastic breakfast at a good price. Turned up Saturday at 12.00, place was very busy but managed to get a seat.
N. W.

Great breakfast and tea shop with an amazing atmosphere. But the staff is often stressed and a little bit rude.
R. G.
Good place for sandwiches. My first meal in London. Waitress was a little unfriendly, but who cares.
H. M.

C. B.
Great selection of tea, you can find nice presents to bring for your friends there
A. M.
Good service, food and reasonable pricing, but not accepting card in 2019 is what drops it down to 3 stars.
J. B.
Fairly standard place for breakfast. Nothing really special but they do the full English well, and so if you feel you're needing that, here you are.
H. A.
Lovely breakfast served outside.
D. R.
A standard old-school English cafe cum tearoom, where everything - from the food to the decor to the service - manages to be entirely average, yet somehow acceptably so.
A.
Best scones of MY ENTIRE LIFE
P. N.
Good breakfast and it seems to be very popular, both with the locals and tourists. Nice staff as well.
N. W. X.
Good place for breakfast. Generous portions and the breakfast set menu includes juice and tea.

Good selection of tea but interior was just a bit outdated - but if that's what you like, its nice place!
L. G.
Kind of simple, almost Spartan decor, but don't be fooled because the sweet treats are absolutely fantastic!
S. H.
The scones and breakfast are awesome
J. Z.
Food is OK and place cosy but can be abit warm n stuffy during summer and stagnant air as windows closed during autumn and winter
L. G.
Traditional English tearoom, offering tea and coffee, cakes and pastries, plus selling loose tea.

The food was goid and fast. There were lots of options. Just be aware that it is cash only.
A. A.
Cute little cafe with a great selection of teas, coffees, cakes and more. Cash only though.
J.
"Cash only", not as clearly signed as needs to be in the 2020's, but a respite from hipster and chain ubiquity. Old skool
J. M.
