Reviews of The Pavilion Cafe
B. M.
Nice little place in Greenwich Park near the Observatory, stopped in to grab a hot drink for baby and me. Don't think kitchen was open for proper food due to staff shortages at least that's what sign said.
p. o.
Had the Pizza and surprisingly quite good, can get a bit busy but if your in the park it's definitely worth a visit
R. T.
Great location, very clean and modern interior. The coffee’s good. The menus quite basic and the prices are quite a bit higher than your average cafe probably due to the location. Great outdoor seating area - gets very busy when the weathers good
Y. M.
Lovely! Staff was very polite. The cafe premises were clean and very organised. According to my mother, she has never had such a delicious croissant before! The outdoor seating was great and dogs are allowed! A great place for a cuppa and something to eat after a walk in Greenwich Park.
L. G.
Toilet too dirty to use.
A bit unorganized for getting a drink. Don't know which queue to stand in, then have to pay and wait while they scratch out on plastic cup. Then wait again while they actually make the coffee. All whilst standing and getting pushed and shoved about. Could be a lovely place but despite beautiful setting I wasn't impressed.
I. C.
Although great location, not many vegan options at all. There's a falafel salad which was great but very uninventive, missing vegan pastries etc. Overprices for what the offering is and coffee isn't anything to write home about unfortunately...
J. D.
Friendly atmosphere, coffee tastes great and no surcharge for oat milk. Good prices too. Great for a quick break whilst on a morning walk. Recommended
R. K.
Closed today Christmas day. Still open for take way earlier in this tier 4 week. It's nice but you can just take coffee in a flask and some Christmas nuts in chocolate coats as we did. We had a bit of rum in our coffee as a bonus. Lovely.
S.
Great location but prices are relatively high. It makes sense because there isn’t any competition nearby. But to pay £2 for a small bottle of water is a little bit much.
B. S.
Good location in Greenwich park, selling drinks, snacks - bit pricy but all nice quality & tasty. All been rejigged for COVID, so unfortunately no toilets and limited selection of bits to buy, but all seems to function well - worth a visit if near :)
W. C.
Nice setting, hidden from the main park road. Can scan at table and have good brought to table to saving queuing. Dud seem like more limited menu online. Facilities seemed clean. Prices felt high, £15 for burger, £5 for sandwich, £2 for can. Portions decent size though and maybe standard for London and Royal Park.
P. F.
Went with my dad to buy coffees. They didn't accept cash only cards so my dad went to get me as he didn't have his cards on him. We waited an eternity for our coffees as they had put the cups to one side when my dad went to get me despite the fact we were standing there for what seemed forever. The two ladies on the coffees weren't interested and the girl on the till was v polite but obviously new and struggling. At least she apologized for keeping us waiting which is more than the other two did. For the record the coffee was average and we won't go there again. I try not to give bad reviews but this was poor.
R. G.
You don't get good value for your money when you buy a soft drink and any food at this cafe. Staff are okay but could be a bit more helpful & friendly when serving you
L. A.
Good coffee and cake. Spacious outdoor seating area where we could take our dog and lovely outlook over the park. Only downside: we tried to order and pay on the app as requested but it kept freezing do eventually had to go inside and order in the normal way
E. B.
An atmospheric, cozy place for a quick snack, a cup of coffee or a soup on a cold day
N. C.
Clean tidy cafe, only had drinks but worth a stop if you visit the observatory and want to stay out in the free area
F. R.
Outside space is fantastic. Would like them to have more food variety, particularly warm options.
S. D.
A favourite place to go for a bit of calm in the middle of Greenwich park. Very good, hot English breakfasts with large portions and assortment. Lovely English cakes like coffee walnut as well as pastries and ice creams. Large selection of coffees and teas. Seating outside or indoors on two levels and nearby to parking. Friendly to families, pets and disabled with wheelchairs or scooters.
M. R.
Wide choice of food and drink, including Pimm's. Plenty of outdoor seating in a quiet garden. Service was prompt and friendly.
H. E.
Nothing really exciting or different foodwise. Coffees you will get is going to be warm, not hot for sure. But I like this place. Staff is kind, working hard. It is also clean and definately family-friendly. They have this little area on the wall where you can find colouring papers and pen. Customer profile also very good. Recommended.
E. P.
Nice to sit out, but not stunning food or atmosphere. Coffee OK, just.
B. R.
Enjoyable coffee and pain au chocolat. Quiet and well organized.
M. C.
Nice little cafe with private garden area. Staff are very friendly 👍🏻
M. M.
Nice outside seating area for sunny day and an interesting building to sit inside of when the weather is inclement. A bit overpriced, but a nice venue overall.
C. D.
This restaurant is in a great location near the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park, and has plenty of space for children to play. The staff members are truly lovely and couldn't have made us feel more welcome - even with four 6 year-olds in-tow. I had a delicious falafel wrap with super fresh vegetables, my husband had a fab burger (with a runny egg on top), and the kids had pizzas and ice-cream from the kid's menu. No complaints - everything was excellent!! We are now planning another visit to this establishment over the weekend. Many thanks to the team at The Pavilion Cafe!!
C. H.
A nice cafe within Greenwich Park. They have some gluten free options, which was nice. It would be better if they have gluten free bun for the burger instead of gluten free bread.
B. T.
A decent cup of coffee/tea with plenty of outdoor seating. Good location if visiting the Observatory or Park.
C. C.
Lovely cafe! Female toilet often has long queues though.
K. J.
Enjoyed our visit. The food took a little more time than expected but proved it was all fresh and, best of all, delicious. Our server was very good.
D. J.
How lovely to be able to have a simple cup of coffee during these terrible times.Large signs telling you what to do and lovely lady at the door explained how to order. Easy.
I had the cream tea, scones made fresh daily and enjoyed immensely!
However while I was there, I watched the poor staff (sherry) get verbally abused by people who totally ignored the signs and obviously don't think the rules apply to them!
And who have no regard for other peoples health, just because you have been using the pavilion for years, does not mean you don't need a mask! The staff have families too.
Be glad the place is open! I enjoyed my visit on a rainy day, chatting to other customers and staff. Next time I will try the freshly made pizza!!
Thank you sherry & Lisa for making my visit so easy and safe.
J. S.
Nice spot, modern inside, benches outside in large garden. Was a bit disappointed with the £3 hot chocolate, not much flavour just brown frothy milk. Coffee smelt good though, if I return again I would go for that instead.
V. L.
Can't fault the place staff friendly and plenty of choice on menu. Coffee and croissant £4 good value. 😃
N. N.
Nice service, they have a lot of space in the garden. The covid time it's good. Cafe had breakfast, lunch. They has a different Coffee strong\medium. I loved organic with leaves and indian snacks
P. C.
Scan the QR code on the table. Then food and drinks are brought to your table. Payment all online. Very easy.
L. W.
Delicious pizza, coffee and cake. Very polite and friendly service.
I. n. o.
Nice drinks both hot and cold drinks and a good seating place at the back of the cafe.
S. F.
Great place for a quick bite and a coffee. Food is fresh (pizza and burgers available). Can get really busy over weekends and in summer it's very popular. Even cater for animals with water bowls. In winter it's pretty perfect to keep warm after visiting Greenwich meridian line etc.
Prices are not too bad, as all the food are made fresh and tasty too.
O. H.
Expensive, but expected in the middle of the park.
Qr code on tables that allow you to order, but as i find out after waiting 30 minutes, the orders don't always work, and there is no way to know until your order arrives or doesn't
P. R.
Pizza wasn't worthy £11... Toilets are closed.
J. H. U.
Nice location. Decent coffee and cake.
Very busy, and often just one cashier so the queue can get long.
Dogs are welcome in the outside area, which is a big plus especially when it's hot and the dogs and their humans need a bit of refreshing
E. H.
Ordering hot food here used to be chaos but now they cook to order rather than having stuff under lamps on the counter which seems to have improved things. Quality of food has improved slightly and portions decent but on reflection it's now too expensive for what it is. Service indifferent. Very quiet for Sat lunchtime. Probably won't bother again.
D. W.
Friendly and efficient staff. Sadly no hot food on view although the menu indicates they still do hot meals it is now difficult to know whats on offer. Also all cakes are in customer area and not covered, they were for a while but today in the current health scare climate they were not. This meant i did not buy cakes only coffees.
C. C.
Good coffee and social distancing on a wet autumn morning. Table service quick (order via phone). Pricey, but no other options around.
A. T.
Coffee was decent (it came hot, but not a rich flavor or taste), queue was huge, coffee took forever to be delivered (they ran out of milk...) and no one seems to ever clean the tables. Starbucks prices for less quantity and lower quality. Giving it 3 stars instead of 2 just because they are pet friendly and it's not a total disaster.
M. j.
Convenient location with easy parking adjacent. Hot drinks are reasonably priced. However, I feel charging £2.00 for a can of diet coke to be a gross overcharge. Especially when not even a glass is provided. Food is also over priced for the quality and small portion size served. Smallest of baked potato with beans over £5. Three small sausages with mashed potato and gravy over £6. No metal cutlery either, when I asked they told me to use disposable one. Also service was slow. All in all not a good experience.
P. S.
Good coffee in very calming surroundings.
D. G.
A very welcome testing place for us at this Royal Park. The coffee was good but surprised at pre wrapped cake. Then why should I be? Very well-organised system for these Covid times. We sat outside in the plentiful seating areas. Wide range of food available. Good.
B.
Nice little cafe in a superb location, seats available inside and out. They had veg/vegan options alongside the usual things you'd expect. Staff seemed to be disinterested and not too happy to be there. But once you've been served a lovely spot to have a break from your park adventures.
L. T. (.
Our pizza Margherita was tasty and good, we had a great time as well.
R. N.
Elegant spot for breakfast. The breakfast roll is fresh and fantastic... soft floury bap, fried egg with runny golden yolk, Cumberland sausage and bacon. The cafe itself is cool and refined, it's octagonal in shape with plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. Being in Greenwich Park it tends to attract lots of dog walkers and young families.
D. T.
Great atmosphere. Get a coffee or pizza and a local beer for lunch.
D. W.
Food was decent quality. There's a large outside seating area.
h. h.
Lovely stop off for coffee and cake in Greenwich park.
G. Q.
Go here all the time, great location in Greenwich park. Food is good and they have a vegetarian options. Outside is dog friendly, with water bowls for the animals. Perfect place to stop for a bite after visiting the observatory or wandering around Greenwich park before continuing. It gets busy around lunch times, so you may have to wait to be served, but there is plenty of seating with an upstairs area too.
J. P.
Lovely clean space to stop for a coffee in Greenwich Park.
J. S.
It was ok. Expensive but Greenwich to be expected. Cake stodgy and heavy. Staff lovely and helpful
R. H.
Our favourite cafe in Greenwich Park. A better choice of hot snacks would be nice and hotter coffee. Could do better.
J. A.
Lovely place for coffee and a snack.
G. B.
On a Busy Sunday. We managed to find a table for 6 people, after waiting for fee minutes. It's a lovely place in a centre of the park. I would say the best to have coffee and food. Even the prices a reasonable.
SUPER NICE CARE was taken by the person who makes pizza. As our order was late, we recived exceptional customer service and I was touch to heart. Thank you so, so much!
P. T.
Excellent service and food awesome with variety of choices from Vegan to Meat eaters
K. B.
Great tea and coffee on a sunny November morning
L. N.
This is a nice cafe at the top of Greenwich Park, not too far from the Greenwich Observatory. It's very family friendly and there's lots of seating inside and out. There is a selection of hot food and freshly baked pizza, the portion sizes are good. There is usually a good range of cakes, I would recommend their carrot cake! More often than not there is a slow queue for food, even during quiet times.
D. T.
Great place for a coffee and croissant right after opening in the morning. Go to bank of garden for the view
G. B.
Fast, efficient tske-away service, with an easy one-way system. Good choices too: healthy and unhealthy! I can't wait for the lockdown to end so we can enjoy the café again.
S. B.
Great location, good cakes, drinks and ice cream. Plenty of seating. Service can be really slow at busy times but they seem to be getting a bit better recently. A bit over priced but you are paying for the fantastic location.
L. P.
A good place for coffee or lunch and friendly staff. Very kid friendly. Close to the parking area and a short walk to the playground and Greenwich town centre. Friendly staff and delicious food.
We have also been there at a birthday party upstairs and it was well organised and the food delicious.
L. G.
Love this little cafè in the middle of Greenwich park. They do great coffee's, teas and hot chocolate. The food is good, if you just need to grab a bite to eat.
A. S.
Larger than expected inside, with a fair bit of seating. Simple go up to the counter and order food and drink type of cafe. Tea and coffee are good, food is reasonable, not a bargain, but then you are in Greenwich Park!
Definitely worth a stop after a walk.
A. F.
Beautiful!!! but only has card, not cash!!!
N. S.
Today on the 17 /08/2018 my friend and i visited your establishment in Greenwich park. We purchased two cups of tea and we wanted scones with clotted cream . We were misinformed that there was no clotted cream . Fortunately Chef John Allen was on hand to rectify the situation . The customer care shown by chef John was excellent .

Food is ok but view is fantastic
G. J.
A great stop after a long walk around Greenwich Park.
Food and drink was good and reasonably priced.
Toilets were clean.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Get there early on a Sunday morning for a guaranteed seat as it fills up quickly.
O. T.
Clean and delightful
Coffee is great..however very expensive
Extensive area for outside seating but closed due to covid .march 02 2021
M. “. F.
Quaint little cafe, polite staff, covid regulations followed and as always a must for me.....clean toilets!!😊
N. A.
Nice place to grab a coffee whilst strolling through Greenwich. The cake I got was a bit dry though.
D. B.
Weird place . Nice 50 p shape building. Keep door shut to keep pigeons out . One was already in. Decor a bit miserable and crazy serving system. Everything comes to a halt around the till and shouts of ' Can you move over there ...' An adventure!
D. P.
Good coffee and flatbreads -- when they're available.
At times, though, listed menu items are not available, or it shuts down early. We came by at 5:20 on a day the Pavilion was scheduled to close at 6, and were told that we couldn't get coffee because it was closing.
S. E.
Always too hot inside like there is zero ventilation. No cold coffee drinks or healthy snacks. The menu is not extensive enough to my taste. Otherwise okay.
A. P.
Benugo at it best . Awesome location great quality.
B. C.
Quiet visit, but weather was not too good. A nice spot for relaxing during a visit to the park and Observatory. Outside sitting area is pleasant and inside is clean and tidy. Toilets are inside.
R. B.
Fantastic food. Tried the Mediterranean Pizza and the Halloumi Burger. Would recommend both!
Great location, being within Greenwich Park.
A. U.
Delicious salad with falafel and humus. We've been waiting just about 10 min for the food. I love The Pavillion Cafe for the location and reasonable prices.
L. S.
Pretty average, muffins very very heavy and wet. Toilets need a proper good clean. £9.00 for a burger as well
"Really !!!"
J. B.
Nice coffees, pizzas available, outdoor seating... currently only takeaway and no seating, inside or outside, due to COVID.
C. M.
Good range of hot and cold foods and snacks.
E. L. (. b.
Good coffee and snack foods with nice tables in the garden area. Hedges give shelter if it is windy
R. B. B.
Lovely coffee and lovely garden to sit and drink it in
T. D.
Clean and tidy, helpful staff not to pricey and the coffee was good
L. H.
Took parents in law out for a cream tea at Greenwich Park, the cafe was clean and spotless, staff very polite but the foods a tad pricey. Still will probably come again
a. c.
Great coffee. A bit of wait but reasonable prices.
L. O.
Service very slow but the food was very good. A great choice of cakes and tea, so perfect for an afternoon sitting in the sun having a chat.
D. B.
Definitely overpriced for a tea house, mainly because of the location, very close to the observatory and on top of the hill, a few hundred metres from the amazing view of Greenwich Park.
It's suggested ti see it at least from the outside for the beautiful building.
V. P.
Lovely destination and the pizza is out of this world!
A. L.
Food was good and sitting in dappled shade was lovely
S. M.
Gardens around reopened the tables to eat out, yay!!!
E. B.
Nice little place in the park to grab tea or coffee. Baked goods are available, and cream tea if you feel like indulging yourself.
R. B.
It's a convenient location and the staff are very friendly. But, it's absolutely filthy. Toilets, nappy changing and the public dining area. Absolutely disgusting.
R. M.
Very clean with a mixture of food and staff.
Coffee was very good but the price of a slice of mediocre cake was ridiculous.
s. s.
Lovely food but the bar service was a bit slow but lovely drinks
G. M.
Limited menu and quite pricey. Food was well cooked and tasty. Quite noisy and difficult to have a conversation.
B. T.
OK little eatery in the park. Plenty of outdoors seating.
S. S.
Used to go for Sunday breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, but disappointed it isn't on menu anymore. Had a sausage bap which was so-so. I think they could try harder. Past its prime.
M. W.
Overpriced food but tasty only come to feed the squirrels.
K. M.
Brilliant cafe with spacious outdoor sitting area
T. S.
Greenwich - unapologetically middle-class, but looks fab. Which was how I'd describe the poached eggs on toast I ordered at the Pavilion Tea House.
"How does one describe poached eggs on toast as middle-class?" I hear you cry. HALF A PIECE OF ARTISAN TOAST. Not even a whole round!
Don't get me wrong, the two eggs were more than un-oeuf (enough), with perfectly runny yolks, and the toast was just the nutty side of perfect.
For the hungover amongst you:
DON'T go here if you're looking to quell your Sunday morning trembles with a greasy-protein-and-carb-fest.
DO go here if fresh air, great coffee, and smashing views are your perfect cure.
D. S.
Cafe has fantastic coffee and light bites .
Queues can be long in summer or Sundays
D. D.
Nice cafe. If you 're looking for a quiet place don't come here. But for everything else this place is super..
J. E.
Wonderful day here. 2 spa treatments and a delicious lunch.
P. W.
Food not bad price fair for this sort of place
m. t.
Clean and tidy, only had coffee so can't comment on food
S. J.
Lovely place, ok food and drink at reasonable prices with some options for vegans. Dog friendly too!
P. C.
This place is the bomb, the staff are so damn friendly even under intense pressure, it really means something when there's 10 other customers behind you and you still get a smile and great service, will visit again with my family. Viva la pavilion.
j. b.
Enclosed setting, relaxed surroundings serving perfectly adequate and typical park 'light fare.' Reasonably priced but run-of-the-mill and forgettable.
T. S.
Very baby friendly. Just had v tasty chilli con carne. Early lunch so not too busy and service was good.
n.
Great place for some coffee and love the backyard.
T. V.

(Translated) The main strength of this Café is obviously the location.
A small place surrounded by the greenery of Greenwich Park, very close to the observatory and clearly a great place to stop and have a relaxing coffee.
Coffee is good, even if a little bit strong, and the food in general is tasty and fresh.
The staff is a bit hasty, especially when there are many people and slightly high prices, but not disproportionate.
In general I recommend it to relax after a nice walk in the park.
Personally I always go back willingly!

Personalmente ci torno sempre volentieri!

(Translated) The last time I went (December 2021) I was under COVID restrictions, and only served coffee and pastries to go.
The services are also closed, if you need it, you have to go to the ones on the slope behind the observatory.
In normal times it is a cafeteria that is fine. It has two floors inside and outside a terrace with picnic tables, which goes into the park.
