Reviews of Timber Lodge X Change Please
R. F.
Excellent food (I had the vegan breakfast), great coffee, nice vibes, friendly staff and sexy chefs - what more could you want?!
I. G.
Stopped here for a quick bite after going to the park (which is brill for kids with an awesome sand pit area). We ordered a chicken salad and a lamb kofta and both were really lovely and plentiful. Our little boy ordered some chicken nuggets and chips. The nuggets were homemade with real chicken which is a nice change from the usual fast food ones. The chips were also proper homemade chips and they were really tasty (yes i steal food from my child sometimes). True the service wasn't the fastest but hey it was the weekend and the sun was out, why be in a hurry? Price were reasonable for London which was a nice surprise after being ripped off for a week as tourists in London.
And I love the concept of employing homeless people. Would definitely go back there if in the area.
R. N.
No hot breakfast as no chef. Can warm up Panini and croissant, but not quiche.
Hot drinks don't come in take away, unless you want it.
D. H.
Great cafe/coffee shop next to the very nice park, great coffee too 🙂
S. J.
I lost an Apple AirTag here today and the staff were really great in helping me find it. It was beeping near their serving counter as we all scratched our heads in trying to work out where it was. It turns out someone had kept it safely in a little box under the counter. Thanks to the excellent staff!
B. R. W.
Very nice and pretty cool coffee place. You casual observer it looks like they don't take repayments as their signage says "Change Please", but you CAN pay with card 😊
L. Y.
Great coffee, amazing brunch, lovely place to hang out with the kids - especially the book corner where our three will sit reading happily!
D. J. M. L.
Family friendly cafe with ice cream sandwiches and tasty lattes. Now change cafe has a truthfully amazing mission to help the homeless
C. D.
Good quality food, friendly staff, chef came out to go through gluten free options, had the burrata salad and highly recommend :)
T. N.
Lovely ,peaceful place to enjoy weather. Lots of indoor, putdoor seating. Great drinks and food, although pricy.
B. S.
A lovely little cafe at the north end of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park near the Wetlands, East village & Chobham Manor - well designed with lots of natural light. Family friendly, with a whole variety of toys for kids - great for warmer weather too with seating outside, and it's structure opens out to the Tumbling Bay play area. Coffee good, and food above average - would recommend :)
J.
Fantastic location for a cafe. Indoor & outdoor seating. Serve a small selection of local beers too, though overpriced for cans
G. H. M.
Beautiful place, spacious, clean, staff polite and professional. Gardens around well kept. Highly recommended.
A. M.
Large bright premises, the design and layout is great as are the materials it's made from. Looks modern but also in keeping with the surrounding area.
Clean building, toilet facilities also clean.
Friendly staff, quick service. Only had drinks and snacks, tasted nice but quite expensive I suppose it is London after all.
Situated in a great location.
We were lucky and found seating and tables. It quickly got very busy in there and felt loud and claustrophobic with customers looking for somewhere to sit.
I imagine this is a really nice place to visit when not during busy peak periods.
v. d.
Would be five star if there were more vegan options. Coffee is really nice and staff are friendly and helpful.
G. C.
Perfect place to stop for breakfast after a long Sunday walk. Egg and Bacon on brioche bun really hits the spot. Unity team always make an extra effort to seasonally decorate the restaurant. Nice effort - keep it up.
T. W. (.
Really awesome food, great coffee, friendly attentive staff.
K. B.
Stopped in for breakfast - lovely calm environment first thing in the morning! Delicious and well-priced food and drinks. Choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Does get a lot busier later in the day but well positioned for the Olympic Park and the kids play areas. Lots of community events run from there too. Looking forward to going back, just wish it was open later on summer evenings...
V. V.
Good coffee. The guy with a cap and tattoos made me a perfect latte. 5 🌟
A. O.
Really friendly staff and good coffee, a nice place to relax in the park
V. V.
Nice coffee, cosy atmosphere and profits go to the homeless which is amazing!
C. H.
Lovely venue. Cakes look nice but no fresh meals. Friendly staff.
J. B.
Good place to stop for toilets and refreshments in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park
S.
Fabulous setting in the Olympic park. Menu has expanded since it reopened. Good choice of both breakfasts and main meals. Good options for the kids. Staff very friendly.
A. H.
Hired one of their rooms for my 70th Birthday with 25 members of my family. The room was excellent, tables laid out as requested, with use of their audio equipment. With additional area outside to sit or play! The staff were very very, smiley, helpful and efficient. The food (finger food) was tasty and well presented buffet style. I would highly recommend this venue for any party, young or old!
I. M. D.
Nice place to pop in for a quick bite or coffee while keeping an eye on the children playing in the sandpit in front. The indoor area is light, spacious and very children friendly too. Perfect to hide from rain and draw when it's too wet to play outside.
W. M.
This is my new go-to cafe when I have a lot of work to do as it's very open, airy and benefiting from a lot of light and nice scenery. The food is nice without being amazing, as is the coffee. I think some of the service let's them down at times. I was once served a glass of orange juice with the glass it came in smelling and tasting as if it had recently contained ice cream in it, which was a bit off-putting. The tables need to be wiped down more frequently too. Overall, it's a really nice place.
L. A. D.
I love the location of this place, perfectly located for a mid run water or a coffee or lunch during a stroll through the Olympic park and the surrounding areas.
Some of the products I feel are a bit over priced but they do offer a decent selection as well as options for those with particular dietary needs , gf etc .
Nice outdoor seating area when the weather permits.
On a separate note, the room available to hire is perfect for children’s birthday parties . And the surrounding play area for kids is fab (although parts of it not open year round)
D. T.
Great atmosphere as West Ham were playing at home but still wonderful quiet places to discover away from the crowds. We started with coffee at Timber Lodge and they were fantastic. Friendly and quick service, very welcoming of such a large group and there is plenty of space both inside and outside. It's also a Social Enterprise organisation so all their profits go to assisting disabled people into employment - a great place to support.
A. S.
The cafe is located in the heart of Stratford Olympic village and next to a great outdoors adventure playground. This makes it a really great place if you have kids and need a pit stop for lunch or s coffee. The design and materials used gives the cafe a modern and environmental feel. Very family friendly and the food options reflect this too. The price was OK but the service was not great. The cafe is very busy on sunny weekends so only worth going off peak.
K. M.
Clean, good atmosphere and located near the velodrome.
M. K.
I hired their event room with attached garden for a joint birthday party for my wife and son. The team couldn't have been more helpful and dealt with all of our requests with minimal fuss.
They had everything set up when I arrived and even prepared a special kids meals for one of the kids with allergies.
The space itself is beautiful and the garden especially so.
S. C.
I regularly stop here going across the park. The staff here are lovely & friendly. Good coffee & choice of hot & cold food. And very tempting cakes etc! (Very busy over summer weekends also when events are on in the Velodrome).
Good tip: If football is on in Stadium this is the place to go.....it is the opposite side of park!!
D. O.
We went there today for my mum’s 75th birthday. We had a great time, delicious homemade food and lovely staff. We had a mixture of adults, kids and people with different dietary requirements, and they had something to keep everyone happy! Thanks team. 😀
R. C.
Lovely, friendly and reasonably priced food and drink. Next door to tumbling bay so great location to take kids for a play. Would also be a lovely place to do some quiet work as seems pretty empty in the morning!
B. W.
The baguette was nice. so was the staff member who helped me. The environment was pleasant too. But sadly the trainee on the till was not being trained in manners. No please or thank you. Not even a smile. Surely good customer service is the first part of training a staff member in an environment like this? However I will be back.
J. C.
Food and drinks are good standard thought not exceptional. The location is amazing so that makes up for it. Family friendly atmosphere hence it can be quite busy during the summer seasons. Overall a nice place to grab a drink and snack while visiting the park.
M. G.
I was really surprised the first time I tried this coffee. I went for a run and I decided to stop here with my friend. We are both italians and usually is not easy to find a good macchiato. It was really really good, and this time the capuccino is even better. ❤️ i will come back to try the food next time
R. W.
Great place for young children to play as it features a play sand pit, climbing frames and bespoke play hand operated water pumps.
The Timber Lodge also has a café, baby changing facilities, Accessible toilet's and also has a function room for meetings or seminars.
It's a Nice place to visit even for myself being part of the Olympic park FM team.
Go and enjoy.
S. J.
Standard café fare with kid's packed lunches available, soups, hot food, sandwiches etc. Well run and watch out for the special events which are always child friendly. Originally always had a few disabled staff out front but I've not seen so many lately, which is a shame
g. f.
Amazing well run cafe that has a nice selection on offer and plenty of space to sit both indoors and outdoors, can be a bit slow when they have a kids party on however they do do well anyway so would always stop off for a bite to eat & a coffee when having a stroll through the lovely Olympic Park. Keep up the good work
L. F.
Perfect location to realise dreams. The staff is superb and they have the facilities to help you planning your event. It has a superb outdoor area for summertime, great garden and they are super family orientated and baby friendly.
Brilliant!
M. B.
Found this place a very friendly and welcoming place to sit relax and to talk to friends. The food and drink was good and overall it was all reasonable priced as well. At the time I went it was pretty busy but wad still able to sit down and be able to talk easily.
A. T.
OK so the bad bits first, as other reviews have stated it does feel like a kiddies day care centre at times and yes it can be annoying when you have to raise your voice to speak over the several crying children, casually discussing how "you wouldn't do that" when analysing other people parenting techniques with your significant other and being reminded how ugly children can be when putting on that very odd crying face. However I found the service ok (just) and the food good with decent coffee. It's in a great location and the cafe is very big and spacious and very comfortable. You can sit as as a group or on your own. Is it one of those places were you can bring your lap top and practice being very bohemian....I just about would say so, your just going to have to get used to knocking over the odd kid or two whilst ordering your americano.
M. B.
Great location to take the family for a pit stop after a visit to the park.
The staff are friendly and there is quite a comprehensive menu including deserts, with an outdoor seating area.
Prices are quite reasonable.
D. E.
The staff on duty at 4pm on the 28.2.19 were extremely pleasant. And a selection of slow jazz music was very good indeed. Will definitely go back again.
A. H.
We came here for a kiddie birthday party. Spacious, clean and of course child friendly. Popular with mum's and their little ones. Average tea and cakes, expensive though. Small selection of beers.
S. S.
Nice enough, not cheap (canned drinks especially), but food isn't any more expense than you'd expect. Bacon and egg roll was £3.50, which would have been excellent, but the bacon had been cooked long before, why not do fresh if I've got to wait for it?
C. L.
Attend the Lego®-based Therapy training on the 4th December 2018. The on site kitchen supplied the lunchtime food, which was really nice and varied. Also great to see a diverse range of customer using the cafe. Thanks guys for a great experience!
P. B.
We booked this space for a birthday party recently I was really impressed with the space, big enough to host a bouncy castle inside, plus host well over 50 adults and excited 4/5 year olds!!
The staff were extremely helpful and certainly took a lot of the stress out of hosting a party for two four year olds.
J. T.
The staff could not do enough for us. Great venue, good food and went out of their way to give some children with allergies very similar food to everyone else! Highly recommend this venue.
o. S.
Location is good, stuff are friendly but food is terrible sometimes. Last time I have order a sausage and potato for my son as result the potatoes looked like it’s been kept and reheated few times over day- not eatable at all!
A. A.
Nice little Cafe, long queue to order when we went but it was during the Track Cycling Word Championships which were held at the velodrome which is literally next door. Café food selection was good as was the selection of cold drinks.
A. B.
Great place to stop and relax, good food selection although disappointingly the veggie main option had run out by 1.30pm on the day I was there. Nice selection of snacks, homemade juices/smoothies and they're also popular for their ice cream in summer
B. S.
Staff and Venue FABULOUS! We (English Dept. Queen Mary University) hired the meeting room for a one day conference, the organisation, food and level of service were excellent. Lorena and her team were a pleasure to deal with and we would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Q. E. V.
It was very smooth organising our event here, the staff was very friendly and helpful with a positive attitude at all time. The finger food buffet was very nice and well presented. Thanks a lot!
H. R.
We hired the function room for a family reunion. The food was excellent, the Manager, Lorena, was so helpful. We had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend the venue.
G. D. (.
Great place to visit before or after a lovely walk in the grounds. Has great selection of food inclduing vegan. Well priced and great areas to sit in or outside.
P. M.
Nice family friendly place, albeit a bit expensive. 3 stars because the manager is very rude, thankfully the other staff were friendly, especially the waitress.
J. T.
Great position just near the velodrome .lovely if you turn up early for an event . Well presented array of food and hot drinks .As usual at such a high profile area ,overpriced
E. L.
Lots of space to get in with kids & buggy. Sand play outside is always a hit. Food and snacks arent cheep but its all good quality.
S. A.
5 stars indeed! Great place for children, tasty fresh food and the Staff was just really nice especially Michael. I would recommend this place, WE will definitely come back
H. N.
The Unity Kitchen Timber Lodge is a popular cafe in the Queen Elizabeth ll Olympic Park. I visited the cafe several times during the World Cup Women's Hockey 2018 tournament. The Timber Lodge was full on the days I frequented. The service was prompt, and efficient. The prices are reasonable. I will return to the Timber Lodge again. Thank you.
A. B.
Nice place with playgrounds nearby. Menu is sparce but perfect for coffee and cake or breakfast. Great coffee and service. Clean. Recommend a visit.
A. I.
Great for babies and toddlers. Toys and highchairs. Good space. Bright and airy. Nice coffee. Pasta, sandwiches and some hot food on offer.
A.
Amazing playground especially during summer when the pumps are switched on. Cafe is serving nice food and coffees.
M. P.
Nice location. Great for families. Seating indoor and out. Food was fine. Service pretty slow though.
K. O.
Good food. Service could be a bit more efficient but very friendly staff. Perfect location for the kids playground.
J. E.
Ive read your reviews and would agree with them generally ..tho a little necessarily expensive and a very narrow range of choice.. maybe the option jug of dilute would be a cheaper option for groups with children.
P. B.
Slightly overpriced, the drinks are cold the food is OK , the staff seem as if they want to be somewhere else. On a glorious day like this, I don't blame them.
K. M.
Lovely cafe in the Olympic Park, excellent level of access for Wheelchair users. Lovely coffee and cake if you fancy ;-)
