good coffee, didn’t realize they do food as well so would be nice to visit again and try it. service was also really good.. it was very quiet when we visited, which made it a perfect spot to read/work/study. also heard the staff speaking in Portuguese and some other clients were also chatting in Portuguese which made the experience even more immersive

Love the taste of the food . Cosy cafe….The staff members are friendly and welcoming! Car park nearby… Recommended!

Great place for lovers of Portuguese food. Coffee is amazing and they have a great assortment of sweet and savory foods!

Excellent quality food just like it is in Portugal, The staff are friendly and the place is really clean. Take out is also good I phoned the day before to pick up Nata's cakes and they were all ready to collect when I arrived. This is now my go to place for authentic Portuguese food and cakes. #Prego

Their food is as close to the food you would get in Lisbon! It was closed for a while during the pandemic, so I was pleased to see it open and their staff is warm and friendly.

Just delicious! If I forgot that I was on the West Rd in Newcastle, I could almost imagine being on holiday in Portugal itself. Great service! Amazing food! Lovely atmosphere. Stuffed and happy now. You must check this place out! 😍

Had a coffee and pastel de nata here. Service is good and the pastels de nata are really authentic, the consistency of the custard, sweetness and slightly burnt texture reminds me of the real thing in Lisbon.

Lovely place. Food is awesome and staff are nice. Recommended.

The sweetest staff, delicious food, and relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely come back!

I love this place. It's like being on holiday! Authentic Portuguese diner, so you'll get your pasteis de nata, pasteis de bacalhao, galao etc. Great fried breakfast (unlike many 'English' cafes, it's done with a little extra care and quality) but also a variety of Portuguese meals - arroz de mariscos the last time I was there. Friendly staff. Nothing flash, just does what it does brilliantly.

Absolutely amazing food - got through Too Good To Go and need to go to eat in here. Easily the best food I've rescued and well worth going.

It's an absolutely lovely café, simple & minimal scandi decor with a portuguese twist (and I always sit right next to the window benches, watching the Westgate/St.James intersection). It honestly looked like it was a normal cafe in Portugal inside, even the typical glass display.
The food is quite good - not a huge menu, but one that really has all the staples (also, an ever changing cake of the day and hearty soup, although didn't have this when I've gone - yet).
The Natas were warm and crispy (ask for cinnamon if you have one!), miles ahead of the usual supermarket ones. Had a Bola de Berlin, which was quit fresh and with a very nice egg custard inside.
The coffee is quite good as well - not biter/burnt as the usual Starbucks/Costa/Nero holy trinity of chain cafes.
The owner and employees are really welcoming as well.

Fresh cakes, donuts and cupcakes! The house special is a must try together with the homemade milkshakes. Friendly staff and the music puts you in a good mood! This place makes you wish there were more weekend mornings in the week!

Lovely bright, clean cafe. Food looked amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. I can vouch for the Portuguese tarts and donuts - pay it a visit if you are at the Discovery museum

The best cafe in Newcastle! The staff are very friendly and always helpful! The pastries are fresh and the coffee amazing! 10/10!

Delicious food and great service with friendly staff. I had the francesinha which was absolutely delicious - a tri/quad meat sandwich with a fried egg, melted cheese and covered in a spicy tomato sauce - 10/10 would have again. Pastel de Nata was also delicious as you would expect from an egg custard tart. I definitely go here again when I'm in Newcastle

Recommended by a Portuguese friend. Small interior but clean and cosy. Fantastic service. Absolutely beautiful food. I dont know the Portuguese for the food but the cod and chicken parcels were great and the pork sandwich and the custard tarts were divine. Coffee was fantastic and have a new love for portugese mustard. Will definitely visit again even for take away. Thank you

Today was my second visit to this superb cafe, my first visit having been last Wednesday. It may have been cold & sunless outside but on entering the cafe it felt as if I was walking into the warmth & sunshine of Portugal. The staff & the customers are friendly & the food is lovely. Today I had a Tuna toastie which was one of the best I've tasted, followed by a delicious doughnut. Before leaving I took away a number of items so that I could continue the Portuguese experience at home. I heartily recommend the cafe.

As a Portuguese person, this is an AMAZING place to taste the Portuguese culture! I feel at home here. The staff is very nice and the food is absolutely delicious. Recommended 100%! It also has vegan and vegetarian friendly dishes. Love this place!

The absolute best place to have a taste of Portuguese food. The bifana is brilliant with the first bite making me feel like I was home again. The rissois and pastel de nata were incredible as well. The staff are friendly and the owner has created a fantastic atmosphere. The prices are well worth. Honestly the only place I'm looking forward to returning to.
Albufeira is happiness.

Very nice and cosy. I'll be back for sure.

Amazing, authentic food. As someone with a lot of Portuguese family, it was great to get a small taste of Portugal, especially when travel is so complicated. 🇵🇹

Went to Newcastle to visit my family and I came across albufeira cafe. The minute I stepped in I was greeted by the manager she was so friendly and really helpful when explaining the menu. The cafe was a little busy but I still managed to get my order very fast. The food was incredible and it’s not pricey at all I will definitely return when I go back to Newcastle.

This is one of the best cafe, restaurant in Newcastle! It’s a must! Very nice decor and everything is clean. The food is really delicious and fresh. Love the natas so much here. Nice atmosphere and very friendly and professional service! What else do you need?

A great new neighbourhood cafe - friendly staff, delicious hot food (the house special is a favourite, but the soup and omlettes also great) and the best Portuguese custard tarts. Good for coffee and a sweet treat, or brunch/lunch. Is clearly a hub for Portuguese people, but inclusive and clean, with a bathroom too.

I have visited this cafe times now and it is always friendly and clean. The beverages and snack food are lovely.

Very friendly staff. Only sampled the coffee - like rocket fuel, just the way I like it! Partner opted for a slice of orange cake, described it as 'to die for'. Partner's fondness for pastel de nata could not be satisfied on this visit, as all sold out; staff advised this popular item sells very quickly (a testament in itself) and it is not unknown for customers to be waiting at opening time for this very reason. We will return (and earlier, next time). Great little place.

Edited 03/11/20 - popped back today to sample pastel de nata, simply wonderful!
Lovely, warm atmosphere on entering, asked immediately if a table was needed (not on this trip) and order taken in a timely manner. The coffee is excellent, but sadly didn't have time to wait for the next batch of pastel de nata to come out of the oven :-( (they sell really quickly, and in large quantities which is a great sign!) However, the orange cake I had instead was delicious, and we'll be back soon to enjoy. Highly recommended 👍

This new cafe around the corner from my office was such a pleasant surprise to find. I love the minimal decor and the it definitely does take me back to Albufeira with the hummy Natas. I was greet by very nice and polite staff, the lade behind the counter i believe she was the owner, she was very warm and informative and explained all the dishes to me. I would definitely recommend it. Thank you x

Amazing food especially the bifana, the pork strips were well seasoned and crusty soft bread. Friendly staff, great vibe and love their Pasteis de nata and well, all of their baked goods! Delicious! It's so good to finally have a Portuguese cafe in Newcastle😍

Very clean, excelant service, food really good, but they need to serve decaf tea and coffee for their customers that rely on it for health and/or comfort reasons.

Came in to pick up a Too Good to Go and the lady behind the bar was so nice and friendly. Gave me a big bag of delicious food - the pasteis de nata were incredible! We'll definitely be back once lockdown is over to buy some stuff at full price and hopefully sit in.

Buying food for a Portuguese national, who was over the moon to receive it, so I can only assume that its the real deal!
