A. O.As soon as you wlak in you know youve come to the right place, the menu has everything you could want. Had an epic breakfast icecream waffle, which was delicious. The staff were super friendly, atmosphere is a bit dated but perfect for the atmosphere of the place. Really relaxing and delicious food.
S. C.It's nice to have old school place to get proper Sundays ice-creams, we had knickerbocker Glory and Strawberry supreme really nice but pricey at £6.25 each,but nice experience compared to modern ice cream parlours.
l. R.Found this restaurant whilst exploring around Newcastle. My son saw the sign for ice cream desserts which prompted us in. The menu was quite extensive and we decided to have our lunch there. We ordered a milkshake which were thick and tasty. I ordered a salad and son ordered burger. Both fresh and tasty. He was so full after milkshake and burger he couldn't fit in a dessert. So guess next trip will be for a dessert 😉

C. W.Popped in for a breakfast, went for the standard for £6.50. Staff were very friendly and service was really quick. Food was enjoyable, I prefer sausages that have a bit more texture to them but having said that there was nothing wrong withe the one served.
The staff were very good at helping wheelchair users in and out and rearranged chairs for them as well.
Property is on 3 levels withe toilet facilities downstairs, I didn't see a lift or ramp to the lower level though.
Would definitely go back if in the area again.

I would recommend sitting downstairs; it is themed as a '50s milk bar and has awesome vibes.

N. M.Nice fish n chips. Card machine off which slowed down service.
Can't fault the food, its always nice and theres always a good choice available. Had their all day breakfast before and its a good size and always nicely cooked. There are 2 restaurants /café 's in Newcastle and they're both nice places to visit. Good choice of ice creams and deserts.

B. M.Best traditional cafe in Newcastle, try their cheese savoury on white bun. I've eaten these here since I was a kid, still the same, still great! M&S with their focus goup driven menu should take a lesson, as their cheese savoury sandwich is miles inferior to Mark Toney's. Also great for Ice creams and coffee! Still a treat for kids and big kids alike.
D. G.Went in for a quick snack, asked for egg,chips & beans, it wasn't what I expected as the egg was slightly overdone on the bottom, beans luke warm, chips acceptable. I know it's much better than that as I've been going there for years, staff are always friendly so I will be going back again as I always do.

L.Sorry for the last review.It was my first day out after lockdown and was feeling pretty negative about things.I had the idea to visit Mark Toneys and enjoy an ice cream and coffee in the way I always had in the past.I have been a customer there since the 1960s and always enjoyed the ice cream from being a kid.I asked for a butterscotch ice cream but got one with lots of hard fudge pieces in which spoilt it for me.Also too much whipped cream on top which may have made the ice cream soft.Nothing like Mark Toneys as I remember it was.I am sorry if you feel I have always been unfriendly but I try not to get too familiar with staff and try to maintain a respectful distance.
L. m. B.The staff in grainger street branch is fantastic. Especially one lady in particular who I think is the manager. She remembered us from a few months back. My son is autistic and he loves the ceiling fan in the shop. The lady will slow the fan down and slowly turn it back up again to the delight of my son. Great customer service from this lady who is just fantastic with my children who are 5 and 7. It's staff like this who make you feel relaxed and welcome and who want to go back again and again. Thank you kind lady for making our day ...I hope you read this. And Mr Mark toney needs to treat you 💟💟💟 lou, Brody and Brannon x and Pauline my mam x

D. M.It's a bit of a throwback in coffee culture, a starbucks or nero it is not. But the espresso is excellent, possibly as good as AMT, and nearly as importantly is the price for any regular. Some of the cakes are pretty good too, along with the breakfasts.
