Had a lush lunch here. Recommended by our daughter who had been before. Staff were lovely and service was great. Reasonable price and lovely and clean. Very busy and small downstairs but there's an upstairs and you can sit outside or takeaway aswell. Would highly recommend.

Delicious coffee & food - the waffles were super yummy but it's a big portion so could easily be shared if you have a smaller appetite! Oat milk available and lots of vegan options too which is great to see.
Staff were also really friendly and accommodating.
One small note - we needed a VAT receipt but were told the till system didn't provide receipts showing VAT. It would be great to see this provided in future!

Decided something thing different from starbucks. In the morning
thought I'd try this place. 1st impressions were really good place looks quirky very clean plenty of good seating outside down stairs and up stairs. Staff very friendly well dressed in uniform. when entered everything looks well stocked and cleaned. Also very easy access if your disabled
Toilets were emulate and again well stocked with toilet paper and loo roll. Although they were up stairs not sure if they have disabled toilets on ground floor.
Coffee was a little over priced but not by much of your comparing prices to local cheap places. however probaly one of the best raspberry mochas I've had. And worth the price. Food was absolutely pefect had the eggs royale cooked to pefection well presented and sauce was delicious. Can't wait to cone back here try out more of there food and coffee. Overall can't fault the place although little more expensive than other places if your on a budget if your looking for high quality food and coffee that u would get from top restaurants then Come here very reasonable price if your comparing this place to higher well known establishments. great value for money for what u get and quality of food and coffee is second to one definitely be coming vback and if you not poped in yet u need to you won't be disappointed

Had a lovely lunch here, early on a Sunday afternoon. The food was delicious, the cake slices huge! (One between 2 would've been enough for us!) Very reasonably priced and the staff are among some of the most friendly in the city centre. Definitely won't be our last visit.
A.
Nice place for breakfast. I ordered a regular scrambled egg, with americano coffee. The scrambled egg was fine (not exceptional), and the americano was good.
They sell a variety of dishes, including vegan and vegetarian ones. The staff are so friendly and helpful. And finally, the prices are typical, not expensive and not cheap.

Best place for breakfast in Newcastle! The avo, cherry tomato and feta toast is absolutely delicious, and they do the best chai tea lattes! Lunch is delicious too with many sandwiches and paninis on offer. Would definitely recommend the mozzarella, sun-dried tomato and pesto panini. The pesto is homemade and the best I've ever had. They also have a large selection of homemade cakes, brownies, tiffins etc. on offer. You really can't go wrong with Olive & Bean.

My favourite place for coffee and cake while out shopping. The sandwiches are lovely, particularly the Reuben, and they make the best flat white I've ever tried. They have a great cake selection, all of which are delicious. The upstairs seating area is a great place to relax and they have some seats outside though it's quite shady and can be a bit windy.
A. S.
Really fast service, I had a hot chocolate and the eggy bread with bacon, the hot chocolate was delicious and was perfect temperature. The food was excellent too. I would definitely recommend those restaurant and eat here again
K. S.
Came for an early morning breakfast and had such an enjoyable experience. The staff were really attentive and friendly, the food was very nice and the coffee well made. They also have a good selection of gluten free options including cakes which is always great to see.

Wow, this place is incredible. Possibly the best breakfast I've had since birth to date. The feta cheese with pear and sour dough bread...I've had sweet dreams ever since. Highly recommended. It's a breakfast place mostly but I'd happily do breakfast lunch and dinner here all day every day
J. F.
Lovely staff and food was really great. The coffee was delicious! Will definitely be paying another visit next time in in toon!
R.
Staff were great and most of the breakfast was nice but menu didn’t mention the bacon was cured - very acquired taste in my opinion
m.
really nice waffles! only thing is it’s very busy, but i suppose that’s a good sign.
A. H.
Highly Recommended!
The place was quaint and beautifully and thoughtfully decorated to have a homey, cosy feel. Interiors are light and rustic, making for a laid-back coffee spot vibe. There are several seating areas to house quite a number of people - outside, ground, and first floor. Staff were pleasant and very accommodating and couldn't do enough for you. Food was exceptionally delicious!
They serve several meals (including breakfast selections) along with sandwiches, baguettes (Chicken coronation, my favorite!) and paninis for those wanting to have a quiet light meal away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Cakes and baked goods to pair with coffee and hot drinks were so delightful, you can't just get one!
For those wanting to have a quick catch up with friends, they also serve wine and a selection of beers and ales along with tapas to accompany the quick chit chat.
Prices are a little bit expensive from some of the commerical coffee shops nearby, but with the ambiance and quality, it definitely is well reasonably priced. As these are prepared fresh in the café, you can be assured of a good, hearty and quality visit!

One of my favourite places to go for sure! Amazing gluten free (gf) options and a nice environment
D. C.
Didn't know this existed, thought it was just a deli selling upmarket food and drink. It was only on the off chance that we popped in and realised it was a cafe,
I must say we had one of the best breakfasts ever. Breakfast is served until 11.30am and is well worth a visit, we will definitely be back. They also serve vegan and vegetarian dishes,
B. P.
Absolutely brilliant brunch location. The bacon and waffles were the best I’ve ever had! Quite a big place with plenty of seating and super friendly staff too.
A. M.
This is my second time dining in olive and bean, it’s just perfect as usual!! I would also like to appreciate the staff, they are friendly, helpful and smiling at all the time! They honestly made my day. You MUST try it. I will for sure come again.
C. G.
This place deserves its excellent rating. We visited for breakfast, we were so impressed we went back the next day. Good selection of food, and drinks. Which were all served relatively quickly and were very tasty.
The cake selection is one of the best I have seen. The staff are very friendly, helpful and provided an excellent level of service.
It isn't cheap, but food is deserving of the price.
A. B.
A lovely place to go in town if you find yourself wanting a little something or even a meal. Good range of vegan options, and the servers have always been lovely and friendly - they don’t rush you and are very attentive. Great covid measures too! Very clean!
T. S.
I love the waffles and bacon, and the coffee is tasty even though my cappuccino always comes out lukewarm
T.
Really lovely cafe with a great range of breakfast and lunch options, also the cakes are amazing!
T. O.
One of Newcastle’s hidden gems: it’s one best coffee shop in town (with a range of four filters, and they’ve just started roasting their own!), there’s always a tasty cake on hand, and brilliant conversation. Great for work or a chat.
J. R.
I had forgotten just how good this joint is, having not visited for several years (I don't hit town for eateries a great deal). There was quite a wait at the door to be seated whilst decks were swabbed this Good Friday lunchtime. Thankfully table service and ultimately grub delivery to us was absolutely not a life draining experience. Dad and I scored easily prepared tuna butties and panini's, but they tasted ace. It's not ultra cheap but still very respectfully priced overall for sure. It was full of punters and remained so during our munch time. It's been around a while now so give it a try if you're central.
A. N.
It was good. Had avocado on toast for the first and enjoyed it but waited 25 minutes for hot drinks and a further 15 for one plate of food.
B. P.
Called in mid morning for a tea and cheese scone. Got the scone warmed up but it was too hot and micro waved.
In future I think they should use an oven to warm it up or asked if you want it toasted, which in retrospect I would have preferred.
Fast service and polite staff thou.
D. R.
I knew it was going to be good when I saw a line of people waiting in the rain on Sunday afternoon to get a table. We had great toasted sandwiches and a decent pot of tea. A really good all rounder and no silly prices either. A definite on my must go again list.
A. B.
Visited Olive & Bean this morning for breakfast. Staff okay but extremely slow service and not that busy. Waited ages for menu’s then a long wait for coffees and eventually our sourdough and avocado arrived. Very frugal serving of avocado on the toast.
Staff should inform customers that unless they have a lot of time to spare they should go elsewhere.
The salt and pepper grinders are all very dirty and may not have been cleaned in years. Cutlery delivered to table in old rusty and dirty syrup tins.
Need to to better and feel this place survives only on historical service.
M. A.
Perfect place for breakfast and honestly it was my first time going there and the food was so delicious 😋
Friendly staff and fast service 👍🏻
Definitely recommended ✅

Lovely food, lovely coffee, friendly staff
I. W.
Great find out behind the Grainger Market. Don't be put off by the chain style decoration, this really is and independent. The food and coffee prove it. Big plus for me is that they serve cafetier of coffee as well as espresso based drinks. Well done.
J. B.
Nice interior with good coffee and soft drinks. Didn't have any food but it looked good. Shame about the location though. Only criticism is the lack of attentiveness the staff showed to tables by checking if eveything was okay. Thankfully it was but for someone else it could have not been.
D.
Has alot of charactor, staff are lovely, food decent. Plenty of cakes/brownies to choose from and they all look delicious!
Quite busy but I'd go back nice and relaxing.
P. F.
Good breakfast and coffee. Plenty of choice.
A. S.
I think the photos say it all but incredible!!
The coffee was outstanding. Latte art even when they were busy.
Loved all of the food! Can't fault it.
My only criticism is that the upstairs seating area was cold, like VERY cold, I actually had to leave earlier than I'd have liked because I was so cold. But if you bring a jumper you can't really go wrong 🤣
A. C.
I absolutely loved spending time here with my friend. Pretty quiet place and we could get a table without booking. We have been offered if we want to pay the bill separately which was our intention. Plus staff took our information in case to further contact in case something comes up with Covid19. Delicious sandwiches & tea, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Keep up the good work!
R. Y.
Catered for gluten free. Advised that the Sausages on the menu were not gluten free and to choose an alternative. Quick reliable service
L. B.
Visited today for the first time, and I highly recommend a trip. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone; I had the Mediterranean Taster Board - delicious and very filling.
Overall: excellent coffee, fabulous food and cosy environment.
D. S.
Great local café. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff as well as good food and coffee. They do a nice selection of gluten free options (I had their "the business" breakfast, with gluten free toast and no sausage). Nice place to grab some breakfast.
J. D.
Good food. Not cheap though and it can take a while for your order to arrive. Never had a cake but the selection is vast a the portions are huge. So if you are watching your weight, be warned!
J. A.
Fabulous food. Not the best location but it's a great people watching place.
L. C. V.
I can't believe I have lived in Newcastle for 4 years and never been in this place before! : Excellent customer service, great Menu and food is AMAZING!! Me and my friends have now committed to visit the place at least once a week !
S. D.
Lovely little cafe, really friendly staff and great atmosphere. The menu had so many great choices, it was difficult to decide! We got a big salad which was really tasty and the chilli jam and hummus is delicious! Would definitely recommend!
S. G. &. M.
Friendly service good food. Lots of gf options.
I. H.
🌟 One of the most popular Cafe in the Newcastle City center. Serves excellent coffee, cakes, breakfast, and lunch. Lots of choices of sandwiches.
🌟 Cheese cakes are amazing but not always served. Make sure you try them before they are gone.
🌟 Helpful and friendly staff.
🌟 Sit-in and takeaway (takeaway a bit cheaper). A spacious place with seats available inside (Ground floor and First floor) and outside. May need to wait for a seat during busy times.
🌟 Beautiful and lovely environment.
R. B.
A truely awe-inspiring selection of high quality food, especially a wide choice of magnificent cakes. And definitely the best coffee in town!
On my visit it was a busy Saturday afternoon we had to queue, but it was well worth the wait. Once seated, our orders were brought quite quickly and we were able to relax and chat without feeling pressured to "hurry along".
Excellent service. Excellent all round.
p. l.
Great little coffee bar/cafe quite hidden away if you don't know where it is. Lovely selection of cakes. Friendly staff.
K. W.
Lovely brunch waiter was good really efficient.
T. C.
Had a lovely gluten free open sandwich and cake from here both absolutely gorgeous. The selection of gluten free food is brilliant, I will be going back the next time I'm wanting some lunch when in the centre of Newcastle.
J. C.
Really good breakfast. Very popular so be early or expect to queue for a seat but well organised good service and nice food
J. B.
This seems a nice independent café to support. Fairly busy for a Monday lunchtime in a time of Covid restrictions. They don't take bookings on the day, but they do have additional space upstairs when the more crowded downstairs area is full.
Quite a few coffee options and we heard they use 2 shots per cup so I went for the large latte and found it lacked coffee flavour, so shots obviously not very strong. Husband's smaller latte was much better. Totally awesome latte art on both!
Paninis were okay, we just felt they could have been better with some minor tweaks. My beef, blue cheese and caramelised onion chutney was heavy on the chutney, and therefore too sweet, and also light on the blue cheese which seemed to have mainly melted away, and dribbled out judging by the tasty traces down the outside. Thinly sliced beef - flavour generally lost in the chutney.
Husband's chicken, mozzarella and pesto panini felt hastily done and the mozzarella was still cold in the middle. His second half was better as the temperatures had balanced out.
We thought the Biscoff tiffin (vegan) looked amazing, and it was very well presented. Biscoff flavour overpowered by the soft, dark chocolate flavoured layer on the top which was very sweet and rich - neither of us could manage a whole one. I finished my slice at home, removing the chocolate layer and enjoying the rest more as a result.
Prices seemed fair and they were right that there was quite a bit of parking in Nuns St (2h limit) which is very close. If we were in the area, I'd definitely try them again.

Amazing place to stop for breakfast in Newcastle. We had a full English and eggs Florentine. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent
N. G.
Great coffee and cakes and amazing value. All the food other tables had looked delicious as well.
E. C.
Olive and Bean is such a lovely cafe serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas. The cafe caters well for vegetarians. The cafe offers both sit in and take away service. During the current climate, it is best to reserve a table as it does get busy. However, you can just walk in and get served too. Take away service is also available. Olive and Bean serve great coffee and I can recommend both the americano and mocha. They have an amazing selection of desserts too, you'd be silly not to try one!
Staff at Olive and Bean are efficient and sociable. The only thing that may be a problem for some is that their toilets are located up stairs. Olive and Bean is a lovely place that I would definitely recommend you visit.
M. S.
A beautiful cafe in the heart of Newcastle serving the highest quality food and coffee. A lovely decor and very attentive friendly staff make the overall experience very pleasurable. I’d highly recommend their speciality coffees and there’s a great selection of cakes if you have a sweet tooth.
J. S.
Lovely cafe next to the Grainger market. Prices are reasonable and coffee was nice. Would recommend
P. S.
Breakfast was amazing. Ordered eggs benedict & eggs royale. By far the best we've ever had. If in the area stop in!
D. W.
Cute little place, great staff, great food and great cakes/brownies!
J. W.
Really good quality food with lots of gluten free options, gets very busy but for a good reason. Except to queue to get in, but it is worth it.
J. Y.
Delicious food, friendly staff and a wide range of cakes that made it a difficult choice! Would definitely recommend a visit
D. F.
Fab tea and cakes and helpful staff. No pressure to leave either!

C. A.
Really friendly and professional service. Delicious cakes and a great range of drinks.

Excellent. Staff very friendly and took time to talk to my 2 year old. Nice atmosphere good coffee. Breakfast was kid of healthy more grilled over fried.
L. B.
Good selection of food and well presented.
Reasonable prices
Friendly staff
B. M.
Really good food, however, there is no ventilation upstairs. We asked to have a window open, but they were all painted shut.
M. D.
Beautiful food, fantastic service and reasonably priced
M. S.
Lovely tapas style food, panini's etc. Clean and comfortable environment. Good selection of teas and coffees. Friendly staff
N. W.
Known for their great selection of delicious cakes, but also have really nice lunches including a huge variety of toasties and sandwiches!
A. P.
Popped in by chance on a weekend in Newcastle. So good we had to go back the following day! Definitely recommend!
T. E.
Good service. Good coffee and panini (beef, blue cheese and chutney). Very busy so had to que, a bit quieter upstairs.
R. M.
Been twice to olive and bean.
1st experience - Best breakfast I've had in Newcastle. Lovely sitting area. Nice staff.
2nd experience (today) - Average at best.
Unfortunately when my food came to the table my order was wrong. It was taken away by 1st member of staff. Then the same food came back to the table by 2nd member of staff 30 seconds later? As if I'd now accept it?
We were asked of we wanted condiments, which we did. And they never appeared.
My meal which should have been toasted, wasn't. I mentioned it to the staff, who said it was?! (I suppose if you toast it for 20 seconds it's still toasted eh?!) I didn't want to make a fuss so ate avocado on bread.
If the experience today was my first, I wouldn't go back.
It went from the best place for breakfast to a bang average place in one visit.
In the art of fairness, the cake selection in the cafe downstairs is amazing. The flapjack and chocolate slab are definitely worth trying
T. J.
Open on Sunday, great coffee and food. Staff very welcoming.
A. H.
We popped in here with 30 mins to spare before our car parking ticket ran out and ordered at the counter to sit in. Unfortunately it took a lot longer to be served than we anticipated and after 20 mins we were still waiting for 2 coffees and a slice of cake. I explained our situation and the lady who dealt with us was lovely and apologetic. As we now had to take our items to go rather than sitting in, I asked for a refund of the difference (it costs more to sit in). They actually refunded us the full price of our drinks and boxed up the cake to go. The cake was absolutely delicious and the coffees were great too. Speedier service would have been better but it's a lovely place to go if you aren't in a massive rush!
A. D.
Cakes! They are amazing! My diet failed again:))
k. O.
Lovely café. Sit in or out. Waitress service so no queuing. Scones are very nice & cheese ones served warm. Other tray bakes and cakes all look gorgeous.
G.
Brilliant coffee house. The cakes cookies and brownies are out of this world
J. M.
Very good breakfast options, and a very generous portion! Smoothies good but a little expensive. All in all, an excellent option for breakfast/brunch 👍
A. G.
I enjoyed having a vegatarian sausage and mushroom sandwich in the Olive & Bean and the staff were lively there.
R. B.
Really nice food however let down by the service. Relatively quiet period of the day too
P. J. S.
Me and my friend Dee love to visit Olive & Bean for a coffee and tea. Olive & Bean is unique, not only does it serve tremendous food but serves up a really cool playlist of retro and contemporary music. The staff are lovely too.
Do I highly recommend Olive & Bean? What do you think?
R. J.
Great breakfast. Great coffee. Efficient service. Central location. All good stuff. Lacked a bit of 'personality' to get my 5-star vote but it's a solid 4 stars nonetheless. Would recommend.
J. F.
Large selection of food and drink. Perfect for breakfast or lunch. Expect a wait, the queuing can take a while.
G. G.
One of my favourite places in Newcastle for breakfast! The cake selection is so good too 🤤🤤
e. a.
Perfect place for a health or heavy breakfast. Everybody get‘s what they like! Made with love, everything
R. L.
Service was excellent scones very nice.
M. H.
High standard and consistently prepared delicious breakfast menu and coffee. Warm and courteous staff. Worth seeking out it's slightly out of the way location.
R. S.
Excellent coffee.
The cappuccino was piping hot, just as it should be but in lots of places it isn't. Good strong Americano with generous amount of add-your-own milk. Lovely sitting outside in the sunshine with friendly prompt service too.
R. O.
Nice if a lil expensive. I enjoyed the fact I could get gluten free bread but my partner's wrap seemed a bit expensive when you don't have the salad with it (which costs pennies to make) but it was tasty so little to complain about.
R. O.
nice and cozy , loving their breakfast menu, it would be nice if they'll serve it also a bit later as a brunch
Z. S.
Great breakfast.
D. R.
Lovely selection of sandwiches/panninis,well worth a visit.
G.
Lovely atmosphere! Guaranteed a delicious meal :)
N. H.
Possibly one of the best breakfasts our family has ever enjoyed. My wife hasn’t stopped talking about the stuffed French toast since we visited. A warm welcome, a hot coffee and a menu which had us wanting to order everything on it, means we’ll be coming back again and again. No better way to start the day, well done Olive & Bean!
L. B.
Food was very filling and the staff lovely
R. L.
Great selection of desserts , teas and coffee. Fantastic central location
C. B.

Definitely come back again, also to work.

A great place for brunch with fab staff.
A. V.
Nice cake and coffee, friendly smiling staff.

One of my favourite coffee shops in Newcastle. In a great location to pop in after some retail therapy. Have been coming here for many years and everything I've tried has been delicious. They have a great selection of hot and cold drinks and their coffees are made to a very high standard. Both hot and cold food are good value and I can highly recommend the tasting planks or afternoon tea. The selection of cakes in the glass cabinet when you enter is so tempting! I had some of the raspberry and white chocolate cake a few weeks ago and the slice was huge! Fed 2 of us easily. Staff very friendly, happy to box things up if you can't manage to eat it all!
S. S.
Huge pieces of cake, varied menu, relaxed atmosphere
J. B. (.
Delicious as always and they have a new vegan Tiffin, honeycomb! It's good, not as sickly as the biscoff one so you can eat the whole thing. Only criticism is that it's a bit on the gooey side
J. r.
very nice breakfast - large portions too
C. E.
Great food and service. Amazing cabinet treats that we unfortunately didn't get to try because we were too full from our meal. Was quite busy but it seemed well staffed so didn't feel ignored. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.
M. W.
Lovely breakfast for me and my daughter. Really friendly staff and good value for me for food that was exceptional
S. C.
Fantastic range and quality of cakes and bakes, hot chocolate was top notch too!
R. x. B.
Lovely place for a cuppa went with the sister for the first time sat upstairs service was good also cakes too many to choose from as wanted to have all of them had the biscoffi slice ,and will defo go next time I'm in town.
M. S.
Love this place, coffee is really good, service is always good and the cakes are excellent
Z. Y. P.
I had only one day in Newcastle and had breakfast here! It was delicious. Everything tasted great, their ingredients should be high quality. Great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful stuff. I would came again tomorrow morning if I was in the city another day.
A. K.
Amazing breakfast. Delicious wrap.Central location. Good northern portions but a little slow on service.
A. C.
Love this place. Huge tasty salads, a wide variety of sandwich fillings, homemade soups (served with a cheese scone if your prefer) and a great selection of planks (think tapas on a board) plus some super tray bakes and cakes. Good rich tasting coffee and a great selection of teas and soft drinks too. Haven't tried the wine yet though. Maybe next time. Service is always just as it should be in here... attentive but relaxed and friendly .
S. D.
I've just recently visited and I was most impressed. I liked the menu especially the Greek dish!
Nice chic and stylish ambiance too making it that little bit different. Polite customer service as well.
L. M.
Absolutely fantastic little place, well worth seeking out. Excellent coffee and delicious breakfast. We loved the homemade granola and porridge. Lots and lots of baking done on site daily. Lovely staff, v chilled. Really glad we found this place on our trip to Newcastle 😀
D. B.
Lovely food, very fresh and tasty. A very reasonable price for such a good food. The portions are not very big but definitely enough. And regarding the decorations it was beautifully decorated all along and the dishes and plates were also quite pretty. It is a place that I would recommend!
C. S.
Nice little place with a good selection of cakes and tray bakes.
B. P.
Best little cafe to visit for dinner! Last time I was there we got the afternoon tea (£11 each - 2 people) and really got our moneys worth, we even had to take some home with us. We asked for all vegetarian and they did not disappoint, the coffee or tea (whatever you decide) is also bottomless with the afternoon tea too. Outside seating is an option but do expect to be approached by beggars or odd-sorts spilling out from the pub next door! Nice atmosphere inside, usually on the busy side but never noisy or rushed. Very impressed with the quality of food and the staff are happy to help.
A. C.
We just ate here and had an awesome brunch. Eggs Benedict was great and a high chair and side of eggs for our daughter. Great cafe will definitely be back.
M. C.
Tasty smoothies, great soup, nice rich coffee and a good selection for breakfast and lunch. They offer a big selection of cakes and slices although I could never finish them as they are too rich for me. Its confusing on how or where to order since everytime I'm there it's been different, but the staff are quick to help you. A bit expensive, but not by much.
W. J.
Exceptional flat white, very good eggs benedict, and granola. Couldn't fault anything and really friendly staff. Cakes look amazing too
J. P.
Wow! Love a full English as much as the next person but the Veg Breakfast Burrito was gorgeous. V friendly staff even behind masks, eat here if you can!
J.
lovely relaxed vibe, staff are friendly and the food is gorgeous.
S. D.
Prices on the website differed from prices in store, so paid more than I expected to. For what we got (a tasting platter) it seemed a little bit steep, but it was nice. The iced coffee was okay, not the best I've had but I appreciate the use of the eco friendly straws. Interesting interior but perhaps not for me.
A. A.
Had an amazing breakfast with proper options - homemade porridge & granola with tonnes of fresh fruit as well as the usual cooked options and toasted bagels. Smoothies are brilliant also. Highly recommended!
C. E.
Really lovely food inside and well priced for the quality, both the mocha and the milkshake I had were delicious too
S. F.
Always great food there.
N. T.
Wow. What a fab breakfast. Good choice. Friendly service and there was a queue to get in as we left. Says it all.
a. y.
Could have done with a couple of smaller tables for singles or couples, waited 30 mins or more in the que waiting on a seat ,a woman sat alone on a table for 4 people.food came due to covid no condiments on tables but we're not asked if we wanted anything came with no cutlery ,we had to ask for it.hot drinks came before food was a coffee that tasted funny and smelled funny too.i asked for a glass of water twice and still didn't get it ,it was for medication.food was ok we had blue cheese and beef with a chutney on which was nice but too much chutney.staff were nice
G. P.
Lovely breakfast and fabulous gluten free cakes for my tea.
J. A.
Wonderful selection of food and beverages, with the food being the strong point; a massive selection of sandwiches, platters and sides with many vegetarian options and an attention to quality ingredients and complex recipes. A wonderful selection of sweet and savory breakfast options in the morning.
Very pleasant and sizeable venue.
The main area of criticism is that the restaurant is a little too popular for its own good; usually you can be waiting around 20 minutes to be seated unless you come early in morning or in the evening.
Whenever I've been at times that the restaurant is particularly busy it's clear that staff are under pressure as evident by much slower service and the food preperation massively lowering in quality (meals seeming rushed, sometimes cold etc).
For these reasons I'd say it would be 5 star outside of rush hour but lowering to a 4 during busy hours. I realize this is a difficult challenge for small business but I would encourage maybe one or two staff on afternoon shifts and possibly a seating area expansion to seat customers faster.
Overall though well worth the visit.

I was wondering around the city looking for a place to sit down for coffee and cake before catching my train to London. I found it, and it has loads of cakes.
G.
Popped in for the a Sunday breakfast, had the eggs royale and eggs bennedict. Both were amazing and the coffee was really good. Took a rocky road to munch on the train, that was a good decision. It gets very busy later in the morning.
T. B.
Nice place, good food. Enjoyed it. Just 40min to wait for food order to arrive was a bit too much. Even coffee preorder was reminded several times and still 15min late.

I reckon this is one of the best independent coffee shops in Newcastle - and the queues which can often stretch out the door at lunch times seem to agree. Go early or late if you're in a hurry! The food is delicious, the service is usually excellent, and the prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit!
A. L.
Fab cakes and good coffee
n. r.
Very tasty 😋
a. f.
Great cakes and coffee
S. W.
Lovely food, well presented with friendly staff
T. M.
Lovely staff soup very tasty but could have been hotter. One of my favourite places to go
J. P.
Wow! Love a full English as much as the next person but the Veg Breakfast Burrito was gorgeous. V friendly staff even behind masks, eat here if you can!
M. M.
Staff are extremely accomodating and lovely. The service is excellent, the coffee is good and the food is delicious.
J. G.
Good for a lunchtime sandwich and soup...also has an interesting range of traybakes
C. M.
Great cafe. The coffee was good and the cakes looked delicious.
N. I.
Nice little cafe, good for breakfast/brunches.
Little bit expensive and a bit out of the way but worth a trip if you wanted a good sized brunch meal.
Portion sizes are good and food is very tasty. Plenty of seating space upstairs and kept nice and tidy
C. M.
Great cafe. The coffee was good and the cakes looked delicious.
a. k.
Best place for a nice breakfast in the town 🙌🏼
L. N.

M. M.
Staff are extremely accomodating and lovely. The service is excellent, the coffee is good and the food is delicious.
L. S.
I had a lovely shortbread here and some teapigs tea with a friend. The selection of cakes and sweet treats on offer is great, I struggled deciding just one to have!
K. M.
Delicious breakfast and coffee. Will be going back.
S. O.
I do love the food here. Service is great, but always busy. Would get a 5 star if they had a childrens menu. If they actually do have a children's menu and I've never realised I will change it to 5.
T. M.
Lovely staff soup very tasty but could have been hotter. One of my favourite places to go
A. Z.
Another regular spot which provides all the goods! For those of you who like hot coffee don't forget to ask as it comes out at a certain standard temperature you might not enjoy. The food was lovely, staff greeted us promptly and by the end we were full! Buy some beans on the way out too
H. T.
Absolutely lovely breakfast in the heart of Newcastle. Dined here a few times now and it's always delicious. Service is great and the cafe is well decorated and very clean. Love it
V. L. K. R. S.
Ordered redvelvet cake , nice taste and reasonable price, I recommend this for a piece of cake
C. T.
Gorgeous food great breakfast sandwiches a lot bigger than you think and cakes are great
A. D. A.
Love this place, we have been going since 2008, our son introduced us to it. When we have visitors staying this is one of the places we take them. Excellent food, drinks and staff, gorgeous afternoon tea too.
B. L.
Great place to get a tasty salad, herbal tea, or big fat cake! Central and the big glass Windows make for good people watching. Don't go there for a private conversation though as you'll likely have to share the big central table and a passer by you know may look in, wave and come and join you!
R. H.
Great for brunch! Not great if you have a bit allergy. Saw the waitress decanting peanut butter into a pot and then didn’t wash her hands
O. S.
Great breakfasts. Northern portions. Lovely staff.
A. J.
Really enjoyed my visit here.
Great craic from the staff.. all of them. collectively.
Great home made desserts, great coffee.. not outrageous prices for the quality offered. nice place!

A. K.
Fantastic food. Staff are well trained and very polite and the owner is always available for a friendly chat. Definitely worth 5 stars from anyone.

Went here for breakfast. Amazing and tasty options. Plenty of bacon if you like that or lots of eggs and veggie options if that's your thing. Great food and good value

The soup and sandwich split offer makes a great, filling lunch. Fantastic range of drinks on offer and there's seemingly no end to the cake options!
S. B.
DJ night was amazing thank you Eddie and Jay and all the rest how was helping.
C. E.
Usually 5 star but on my last visit the wait was extremely long even when it wasn't that busy. My pannini was also burnt in parts but didn't have time to complain and get a new one as I was on my lunch.
A. J.
Everything still outside at the moment but we'll organised. Good choice of food and well presented, enjoyed what I had.
C. d.
Great food- made how you want it. Plenty of choices too, as well as plenty of drink choices too. A bit expensive, but often worth paying!
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
I. H.
Good as it usually is but ordered veggie sausage sandwich without mushrooms in ciabata and it only included one sausage which looked far too small for the bread, a little mean, surely could stretch to two
A. L.
Amazing quality food, tasty fresh salads and an unreal selection of gluten free brownies! The raspberry cheesecake brownie is delicious! 👌
C. D.
One of my favourite places in town, delicious food, friendly and caring staff.
A. b.
A very busy Saturday. Staff we're helpful and quick to address a long queue. Food was simple and delicious. The avo, tomato and feta was just what I needed.

S. N.
Great food. Friendly staff. No rush.
J. W.
Really nice, a bit expensive, but still good. Just don't get the scones - they're too doughy - more like bread than a scone
