Reviews of The Tower Cafe
A. B.
Staff always seem genuinely happy, the guy I assume is the boss has a powerful positive energy glowing from him. Great spot for a pizza especially in the summer as its outdoor with some covered seating. They serve proper coffee too
P. R.
Great little cafe with seriously tasty Italian pizzas at a reasonable price. Ordered on the app and wasn't too much of a wait. Excellent place to sit and enjoy the food by the duck pond
D. B.
Just visited this gem of a place today after seeing a Groupon deal to good to miss, what a lovely little venue, food was excellent, staff were friendly and I love places that are a bit different and this certainly ticks the box, pallet seating outside in the ⛅ today... Fantastic will be back for more!
G. D.
Always a great little spot for somewhere to eat on a sunny day. There's plenty of seating around. Food is great.
K. R.
We had a lovely day visiting the park and seeing all the ducks and swans on the lake. We had a wander over to a fallen tree to get some family photos and my hubby just missed standing on a used needle and syringe filled with blood and god knows what else. It completely spoilt our day and we left immediately. I'd visit the playground again but I don't think I'd walk through the gardens
a. k.
Lovely little cafe... great selection of food and drinks.
J. T.
Convenient cafe in the park with a good range of food and drinks, friendly staff.
s. h.
Food is delicious and the staff are very friendly and welcoming highly recommended this place xxx
J.
Beautiful little gem in Newcastle, filled with art, trees, fishing and a play park. Great for dog walks.
L. M.
Interesting format of the cafe, I like the atmosphere, the food, the staff and the guests of this place.
H. P.
Lovely outdoor café in Leazes Park by the lake. Staff friendly, nice cuppa in eco takeaway cup. - update - Not sure if they're seasonal or if it's closed down now, as it hasn't been open the last two times I've been, weekdays in March 2022.
M. K.
Best place to relax in nature's lap and picturesque view of the lake.
F. T.
Really nice park. Has a nice footpath around a really small lake. It worth it!
D. M.
Lovely cafe. Great selection of paninis and pizzas, all of which are well cooked and very tasty. Great coffee, serene location with friendly and obliging staff. A new favourite.
B. H.
Just 5mins away from Newcastle centre, behind St. James' park. Over the road from 2 hospitals. Nice quiet haven to sit and get some peace and rest. The boating lake have resident swans an moor hens
S. R.
Had a delicious panini - very relaxed vibe, super friendly people.
C. M.
Very nice location : quiet with nice view on the park (and stadium)
E. H.
So pure so beautiful. A good place for relaxation.
I. T.
Lovely coffee in a tranquil setting in the park
G. S.
A nice place to eat and look out over the lake although it does not open until 10:00 now.
A. A.
Nice lake and view. Decent tennis courts are available for free.
G.
Can be crowded on weekends, people doing barbecues is a nuisance. No toilets.
S. H.
The park is located at the heart of the city centre, and just a step from Newcastle University. Perfect place for students and workers to get relax
n. p.
Great spot to sit and watch the wildlife.
S. K.
Best place in Newcastle. Quality and marvellous service. Enjoy
E. T.
Could do with a wider menus and more stable opening hours.
R. A.
Rare patch of green space in Newcastle city centre but it feels a little unloved. No colourful shrubs or flowers.
C. R.
Our pre match lunch stop ritual. Great food, snacks, cakes and drinks. Pizzas are amazing as is garlic bread . Run by lovely friendly Italians . Has the perfect setting in Leazes Park by the lake with an imposing view of St.James Park. I love it.
I. H.
Nice coffee and seating area.
L. W.
Stunning little place nestled right beside st James's park. So chilled.
P. N.
This is a regular stop when visiting family. It can get very busy but with so many places to eat and drink not usually too much of a problem. Just had a drink this time. Service was great, friendly and efficient.
Plenty of grass for dogwalks. As services go very good
j. N. x.
Lovely cafe in the park 😍
V.
Great pizza, great price. Bumped into a nice bump of people who told me all about these trial vaccines we are having pushed on us. Thank God I ran into them as I will not be having the vaccine now, neither will my children.
D. G.
You can but different snacks here including 🍕 pizza, various got and cold drinks I think beers too. Staff friendly and helpful. You can buy proper bird food for the birds on the lake rather than food which is unsuitable or harmful to them
M. G.
Nice park right behind St. James Park, big pond with lots of ducks, swans and geese.
D. T.
Love this place. Great location, friendly staff and lovely coffee and pain au chocolate
A. M.
Lovely park to relax in admirably looked after by volunteer rangers & gardeners.
Great place for picnics or a nice weather lunch break. Fine little cafe too.
J. C.
Such a great place to visit. A hidden gem within the city. Very well preserved and maintained with a rather delightful small cafe to grab a snack by the lake. Well worth a visit.
P. R.
The tower cafe is well worth the money if your craving a pizza while at the park it also provides a variety of hot and cold drinks. Also if you or the kids want to feed the ducks, geese and swans that live on the pond then the tower cafe offer bird seed if you've forgotten to grab those stale slices of bread to feed the birds.
f. g.
Excellent little cafe selling a wide range of coffees, pizza, a few cakes
Friendly service, a perfect little oasis in Leazes Park.
In these days when opportunities are so restricted, this little haven for take away food and drink provides a wonderful taste of normality.
m. g.
Nice park for a relaxing stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Newcastle streets.
D. F.
Welcome stop off anytime and pizza well worth wait on a very bizy day
a.
A very pretty park with a small pond with swans, geese, ducks and more. Diverse plantation and well kept grounds. It has two children play grounds ( for older and younger children). There are also tennis courts and basketball court - popular in warmer months. There is a small cafe there and access to the toilets. In summer months there are usually few events run in this park. I personally really like this place!!
Z. B.
Haven't been in that park for ages. I was surprised to find the cafe open. excellent service, tasty food, very good offers. and we've enjoyed a bit of a sunshine on top.
O. W.
Very nice park close to the city centre. Offers tennis and basketball courts (no playgrounds, though) as well as a lake, many trees for shade and a large open meadow for playing or relaxing.
Well maintained and cleaned, big enough to not feel crowded
M.
Vkrhsv ignore that idiot persons review. Maybe if they'd had family members or friends die of Covid they might think differently. Anyway we went to the cafe today and it was spot on, perfect! Waiting for food took a while but if that's because it's popular then so be it, a good sign. Prices reasonable as well. Will visit again.
S. P.
A good place to stop for a quick lunch break or a coffee in the park, Leazes Park.
L. R.
Killing time in park waiting whilst family member in nearby hospital.
Had coffee, very nice. Not made by buttons! Then relative had break for lunch so went back for pizza - absolutely gorgeous, freshly made , thin, very very tasty. Bit pricy but well worth it. Highly recommend
P. A.
Nice green space just at the edge of what I'd class as the city centre.
Centred around a pleasant boating lake, there is never a shortage of people fishing and water fowl.
Usually busy through the day with people having a lunch break stroll, it also boasts tennis courts and basketball courts available for use.
T. C.
I love this park I think it's a nice and relaxing place to go on a nice weekend day with friends and family.
s. i.
It's a nice and decent size park. As it's inside the city centre it will give you New York central park type of feeling, but not entirely. My rating is 4 out of 5 only because when you sit inside the park or walk you will see less flowers. More flowers gardening will make it a perfect park:)
H. K.
Really lovely little park with a wonderful Cafe near to the lake. The pizza smelled amazing.
H. B.
Beautifully situated right next to the lake. I only had hot drinks but many people buying pizza which were clearly very popular.
M. J.
We always get a lovely cup of coffee from here after we've had a walk around the park
m. c.
I love this park I think it's a nice and relaxing place to go on a nice weekend day with friends and family. Also, they have an Italian cafe with different food choices and also is a local B&B that anyone can use in the park.
J. D.
We visited the park on Saturday morning as it has a new parkrun just started and was surprised to lovely and interesting the park looked, so we decided to pop back that evening for a wander about with our cameras.
Great space with several interesting things to look at and see and right in the middle of town
W. T.
Best pizza in Newcastle probably a little over priced for a thin pizza, prices around £9/£10 but well worth the money.
The little Italian sweets are super yummy. This place is such a lovely place.
M. C.
Excellent park. Big with lots of interesting wildlife. Café excellent with really good staff.
g.
Got the hot chocolate, very nice and some chips with cheese on, freshly cooked, so about 15min later I got them, French frie type, ok
H. H.
Autumn is the best time to enjoy the park!
G. P.
Nice park with a small lake and some free roaming animals like cows and horses. Good for a picnic, could be cleaner.
B. W.
Great place with a wide variety of snacks and food
A. M.
friendly staff, good services. order takes longer than thought, however the view and the nice weather make it easier at the time of visit. There are clean, well maintained toilets
P. V.
Beautiful park, load's to see and do,great little cafe.
L. S.
Lovely quirky little place hidden away, staff delightful & food amazing, 5 star all the way... ☆☆☆☆☆
A. G.
Lovely for a family picnic, huge duck pond and space to explore and plenty of benches. Perfect get away from the city madness without going miles away
A. R.
A superb outdoor space with play area, lake, cafe. Very tranquil and great for picnics and bbq's. Parking available as well.
R. S.
Excellent craic, good service, friendly staff. It's in a sweet location, looking over a small lake in the park. The perfect stop in an afternoon stroll. Unpretentious fare clearly made by people who've lived and enjoyed the Continental Cafe culture. Regular live music and arts. 👍
t. 3.
Nicely landscaped green space with woods, open green areas and a well-maintained pond. The buildings however are a bit sub-par both in their contributions to the scenes and quality. Last time I visited there seemed to be something ill going on in the pond as quite a few dead fish could be seen. Hope this is not a big problem.
D. P.
Perfect to take the little ones. Beautiful green space in the middle of a brilliant city. Plenty to do with the kids or somewhere to chill out
C. F.
Brilliant, such a lovely place, and my room was fantastic, cosy lovely showers etc, local shops, will always be coming back to just so Loose man, I love it thanx
S. A.
Lovely, little park in the middle of the city centre. Situated right behind St James Park, it gives a perfect view of the stadium for football and architectural fans alike, while providing a peaceful, serene atmosphere for a stroll around the lake!
I. S.
Very friendly staff, nice outdoor seating area, had the heater on so felt warm & cozy. Nice view by the lake. Tasty food & coffee.
T. B.
Great little cafe, friendly staff good coffee good food. A real gem
R. C.
Lovely large park with play area, bandstand, tennis and basketball courts and a nice little maze too
P. G.
Well kept park with something for everyone. Right in the heart of Newcastle, leazes is perfect if you fancy a ball game, a quick stroll, an evening jog or just a breath of fresh air. Very spacious and a relaxing place to be. I always walk my dog here.
C. W.
Lovely place with amazing food for a very good price. Very nice staff.
H. M.
Good coffee!
K. L.
The perfect little cafe perked on a lake facing St James Park. Heaven!
Helpful friendly staff. Give it a go 👍🏼
P. B.
Lovely park there is parking, however it does not have loads of spaces. The park itself is really nice, great for a family with children as there is loads to do. Grap yourself a picnic basket and have a lovely kinda free day out.
I. M.
A lovely walk around this beautiful park followed by a cup of tea & carrot cake at the tower cafe.
L. P.
Park with a lake for jogging and stroll
M.
Great place, great coffee shop in the park. Wish people weren't allowed to fish there though.
S. C.
Lovely park, perfect for lunch breaks, or just wandering around. Also a great spot if you play Pokémon Go.
J. S.
Great place to visit while jogging or even if you are just out forca walk.
T. M.
Great place to relax with great tasting coffee and food. The lakeside setting and the wildlife combined with the great staff at the tower cafe all add up to a memorable experience.
I. A.
You can spend lovely time walking through the park and maybe try to identify the different kinds of birds in and around the lake. Very relaxing and refreshing. Highly recommended
R. T.
A Victorian park tucked away in the city. With beautiful views and a wide range of critters, the park is a lovely place to stroll, gaze, and relax. It also features a children's park and tennis courts, and the bandstand is an awesome place to chill out with friends.
D. B.
Nice place, avoid secluded areas (or the park as a whole) at night. Nice walks and fields. Big area.
A. M.
Had a couple of hours to spare so decided to go and find a nice spot where I got stuck into a great book. The park was jumping with people. The tennis courts were busy, there were plenty of people sitting around the water. The coffee shop was very popular. This is a great park for everyone.
I. M. A.
Very good park to have fun with your kids and friends.
C. K.
Great food, beautiful location and really nice atmosphere. Well worth checking out if you're out for a walk in Leazes Park or looking for something different for lunch in town.
D. L.
Lovely little cafe, a lovely owner and waiting staff, gorgeous coffee with a lovely view of the lake and park, and a great place tp people watch.
E. S.
Lovely little outside cafe. Views over the lake and park.
J. D.
Beautiful park, woefully under used, it needs more people to use it who will enjoy and appreciate it, if more of us used it, the shifty types that freqent here in the evenings would be discouraged!
I'd LOVE to see this park host a summer long food event, like the one held in a park in Sydney,Australia, with food trucks and marquees of Local resteraunters, food producers etc, selling cuisines from all over the world, reflecting our fantastic cosmopolitan city! Imagine being able to have access to a summer long " food park" in such a beautiful park, that was fought so hard for by Local people!
P. D.
Brilliant addition to Leazes Park. Great food, lovely coffee. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the park or want an escape from the RVI.
G. S.
Lovely tidy park with a nice little cafe called the tower
J. G.
A city centre park with tree lined walks and a small lake. Somewhat faded version of its former self, with the play areas in need of tlc. A great place for an al fresco lunch when the weather permits.
M. S.
Best kept secret in the toon ,amazing food staff and views, great place to chill out, tuna and garlic pizza divine, mmm
A. O.
Great day *Jurassic Kingdom*
S. W.
Big with lots of interesting wildlife. Café excellent with really good staff.
E. C.
Surprisingly ambitious range of food available here. But great for just a quick cup of coffee too. No inside seating, just a terrace, with a few tables and a nice view.
v. h.
Love to walk through this park enjoying the plants and wildlife, it's such a lovely place,,,
D. D.
Fabulous park. The swans queue up neatly for bread and take it very politely from your hands, then go to the back of the queue and wait to come round again! I always thought swans were aggressive and dangerous, but these Geordie swans are perfect ladies and gentlemen!
J. T.
Small cafe offering a range of hot and cold foods. Beautiful location and ideal for a quick lunch. Recommend the pizza.
H. J.
Nice place to relax and escape the city
j. W. e.
Quite surprised good little Park 2 minutes away from Chinatown back of the football ground
C. T.
A wonderful and magical place with a splendid menu and lush staff X
h. r.
Great coffee today in the park, overlooking the lake with ducks and geese, just what I needed after my day in hospital.
i. l.
The loveliest place!! Has great food, really good coffee and it's the cutest place!
C. S.
Very pretty walk with a nice lake, restaurant, play park and history.
You can buy bird feed at the coffee shop by the lake.
I would recommend the walk but no not walk here at night or dark, like most parks it can be dangerous so only go for walks during day.
Parking can be difficult so be prepared to park in town further away.
A. P.
Leazes park is great as you can: play, relax and reflect. It a good place to cool your head and calm down. I recommend this place to everyone as you can do all sorts of things.
J. H.
Lovely lake and park very central
R. T.
Food here is top notch plus location. Open all year round. You must try there pizzas.
F. A.
A nice place but it lakes facilities like resturants and bathrooms.
S. R.
A beautiful park in the centre of the city, with a boating lake and plenty of wildlife.
V. K.
Lovely park for walking exploring the lake and the different type of birds visiting it. If you searching a place to photograph birds it is ome of the best place in the city, it was for me!

s. r.
Decent place to walk dog but not much to see
R. M.
Cafe sells delicious food and staff are lovely. Leazes park is ok enough just a shame about the kids park being vandalised. But back to the cafe.....excellent pizzas :)

Excellent pizza, friendly staff, great location - a wonderful small business that's improves the park and reopened the toilets. Thin, crispy bases, and great toppings.

S. K.
Best place to chill out and get out from hustle of the city. Just 10 minutes walk away from the city centre, comes a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green trees and ducks quacking around everywhere in the lake. Come out for a picnic, barbecue or games with your friends/family. All neat and tidy. People come out to fish, read books, date, etc. All kinds of people can be seen around.
m. b. s.
I did not seen all the park that day I only seen some of it but I seen was very nice nice trees and beautiful grass park is well look after
B. M.
Thanks for the great welcome and friendly service very welcome and nice tea and snacks keep up your excellent work
D. F.
Spacious and surprisingly quiet for a city centre park. There is a lake, cafe, wood, cattle (in spring, summer and autumn months) and plenty of walkways. The Newcastle area is very safe but remain vigilant especially at night. I am aware of a few incidents that have gone on here.
P. a. S.
Pretty peaceful but lots of youngsters smoking pot in this park. Smells all over.
n. y.
leazes park is very relaxing work and you expect to alot of bogs and rabbits but very nice place so many events come to leazes park like this year we had the dinosaur event so there are so many event's that come and it has a children play area and a pick net area also there is basketball court and tennis courts to so enjoy the fresh air
J. H.
Great place to enjoy a lovely walk.

A beautiful park right on the edge of the city centre. This shady park offers a great place to sit and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
L. B.
Spent many an hour just relaxing by the lake relaxing and taking time out. Wouldn’t think you were in the middle of a busy city centre.
S. A.
Fabulous bohemian and groovy place for pizzas and coffee. Always welcoming. Best pizzas in town. Amasing local art work and music. Truely a gem.
H. B.
Great little cafe lovely pizza and pastries wish my coffee had been nicer but my cappuccino I ordered tasted just like hot milk I am afraid which was a pity as otherwise a lovely place to chill. The Tower Cafe is a hidden gem in the heart of Newcastle. In Leazes Park, you'll find this beautiful eatery right beside the lake.
The food is amazing and the staff are sublime. I'm a regular visitor to the park and I feel blessed to have The Tower Cafe so conveniently placed.
o. 0.
Pleasant afternoon walk, however, very unkept, litter & grime everywhere.
I would like to have seen it 30yrs ago when the council still spent money on recreational areas.
M. M.
Enjoyed walking round with my son. The kids play park could be improved but nice to wander round.
G. C.
Come here a few years ago before lockdown and it was lush will definitely be going back
B. H.
A great park experience. Come for a walk, take the dogs, take the family! Just avoid the weird goth groups hiding in the shadier parts.
강.
Tower Cafe in Leazers Park Newcastle. Friendly staff, great made to order excellent quality and delicious food at very reasonable prices. Sat on the terrace and watched the world go by. We were walking through Leazes Park to get some rest from the busy city and came across this cafe by the lake. What a great find!
S. L.
The perfect little haven in the middle of the city
l. a.
Nice average size park, nice views, lake, children area, easy to find its way around.
S. S.
Good for walk, family time out, paid parking available
m.
Beautiful and quiet retreat just a few minutes walk from the town centre.
T. A.
Good park. Has a boating lake.not for kids on their own like most places these days unfortunately.
R. B.
Perfect get away from the city madness without going miles away.
M. J.
Very pleasant during the day, but take caution during evenings.
T. M.
nice big sized park with a lake and tennis courts. also has a place to buy pizzas and a average sized children's playing area. nice for a walk around the lake especially on a nice sunny day. they had onsite parking but only for limited space of about 10 ten cars. the parking on Richardson road is always bad unless you get there very early or just get lucky.
J. W.
Small family run cafe that sells pizzas and sandwiches big enough to fill you up! We went with the kids (aged 5 and 9). They enjoyed looking at the art on the wall and the owner sat and taught them how to play chess. Amazing service. We will definitely be back.
R. S.
Lovely little park in the centre of Newcastle, great for playing Pokemon go as it has heaps of pokestops and two EX Raid gyms! Pick up a cup of tea in the cafe while you're at it and support small businesses!
D. s.
Smallish city center park, with decent sized pond stocked with various fish. The open moorland adjoining the park has cows grazing on it.
J. F.
Great for walking the dog or to chill out downside is that there is no toilet facilities owing to the drastic cutbacks Imposed by government legislation
K. R.
Lovely coffee in a great park. Apparently you can even pay with cybercurrency!

This park was a gem, a Victorian pleasure garden with exotic plants, trees and atmospheric walks within the city. Lost all its character more home to grumpy fishermen' and their marquee size shelters and chavs.

So lucky to have a beautiful park in our city centre. It's just a shame that vandals have destroyed the statuary and balustrades - totally senseless!
M. H.
Unplanned visit to Leazes Park resulted in us buying our 'takeaway' lunch here. We didn't even know there was a cafe in the park! The food was unbelievably good. Freshly cooked pizza, panini and vegetarian platter were all amazing and we will definitely be back..

My favourite park in Newcastle! I absolutely adore the lake in the middle, and the animals that live there are so cute! Nothing more relaxing than having a family of ducks surround you when you're eating lunch. The bandstand is a gorgeous piece of architecture and the events held here (such as the allotment fête) are great! Very peaceful and serene park that is kept exceedingly clean.
S. H.

With a relaxed vibe, colourful space and some of the tastiest food it's no surprise to see a steady flow of interesting characters come from Ouseburn and afar. The delightful family run pizzeria sits just out the way from the busy life of the city, offering a friendly welcome to all ages and species. With a great selection of pizzas, panini's and salads and the ability to customise them to your own desire, it is hands down my favourite place to munch out. Great coffee and tea too! The owners are spot on and host events from time to time inviting local musical talent, soundsystem families, and artists, bringing interesting individuals from all around. Like the rest of the Ouseburn The Tower Cafe has an underlying community that invites big smiles and much laughter.
