Reviews of Sugarloaf Restaurant
A. B.
We enjoyed a very good lunch. The Chargrilled chicken caesar salad was outstanding. Generous portion of Fish and chips.
B. G.
Have to disagree with a prior review regarding value for money. Very good quality for Four lunch mains, drinks and a cake for £54. Our venue of choice to meet up with family
K. B.
Would highly recommend afternoon tea here.
Reasonably priced for the amount of food provided. We had to take some home as you lent eat it all. Catered for the fussy eaters in our group.
Staff friendly and attentive. So glad I booked this for my birthday with family (30/08/22).
Looking forward to returning to try the other food on offer.
T. B.
Lovely lunch in gorgeous location. Fabulous freshly prepared food the tastiest steak, mushroom and Guiness pie with buttery mash piping hot and very large portion. Very large made to order ploughmans platter with warm rolls....enough to take home. Very friendly helpful staff and good prices. Highly recommend
A. M.
Popped in today for a light lunch.Leek & Potato Soup was pretty darn good folks it has to be said.Superb tasting, great presentation.Thank you Sugarloaf Team & Well Done.👍

Very good selection of both hot and cold food. Food quality is very good. Lots of staff serving and willing to help out. Would highly recommend this place whilst visiting the garden centre for either a meal, snack or light lunch.
F. B.
Food well cooked and served with a smile. Reasonably priced and pleasant scenery looking out at the Sugarloaf. Will definitely revisit.

Such good staff especially Jaz and food was amazing. We shared a vegan afternoon tea amazing

Usual garden center coffee shop experience. Not a huge selection of cake, scone was average but cheese cake nice. Good coffee though. Update had sandwiches today, which were okay but not enough to gain a *, plus it wasn't cheap. Baguettes were 50p more on till than on menu. Cakes were £4.50 for very large size of cake, which I don't think normal
J. T.
Surprisingly good cafe in a plant/garden centre. The staff are helpful and the coffee is good.
You can have a wander around the garden centre afterwards.
Nice and clean as well.

This is the second time we've eaten here since the original owner took over from Wyvale , as again the food was lovely, my husband had Jalfreizi curry chips and rice , the portions were generous, tasty and the staff were helpful, pleasant and eager to please , my smoked salmon salad was wonderfull x
J. C.
Excellent Sunday roast. I had the nut roast and it was one of the best I have ever tasted.
S. N.
First time here, relaxed, clean, friendly service and oh man... the Bailey's cheesecake! 😋
Plus fantastic views of Sugarloaf.
J. P.
Nice freshly cooked food. Clean environment and very pleasant staff. A little pricey but good quality meals. Varied menu to include sandwiches, baked potatoes, daily special main meals. Lovely for morning/afternoon coffee. Afternoon teas available but you have to pre-book. Clean toilets and free parking. Based in a very good garden centre with good plans and gifts.

Well where can I begin?
i have been coming to raglan garden centre for many years and stopped visiting when wyevale took over as the food had lost its appeal.
but after hearing good things about the restaurant I decided to give it another go and all I can say is wow the food was far better then any restaurant in the surrounding areas and we have been to them all, we could not believe the quality of food that came out of that kitchen!! It was like we was at a fine dining restaurant.
It’s Amazing to have somewhere like this on the area again and let me tell you something we will be spreading the word even more to all
Our friends and family whoever is behind this magnificent change must be a magician
We cannot praise the staff enough
even the customer service was amazing with a very friendly welcome
Glad to see the restaurant returning to its former glory
Many thanks Archie

Just had a lovely lunch at Sugarloaf. Best Ploughman's I've EVER had. Lovely bread and cheese. Yum 😋
Only drawback was the queue to order but it was worth it.
Very child- friendly too.
D. L.
Nice surroundings and kept very clean, enjoyed the fayre on offer, prices are slightly above average and is a popular venue for lunch, which is the only downside, from ordering to presentation took 35mins, quite a wait when you're hungry! My advice - get in early 😉
R. D.
I enjoyed an amazing Sunday lunch here, I have eaten so many roast dinners in different restaurants and this is one of the best. So nice to see such good quality food and service considering the current staff shortages. Thank you for a lovely experience.
L. M.
Big queues quite slow service due to staff shortage. Sunday lunch looked good but they were not serving it at the time. We were not given the option of ordering it either.
S. M.
Very expensive for what we had and warmed in microwave, long queue so quite a wait even with numerous staff.
M. H.
Came in here with our granddaughter to escape the rain and had a lovely tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and some generous sized tasty cakes
J. T.
A very good cafe, large, clean and airy. Service was good and the food excellent. There is a dog friendly section as well. The only let down was we had a long wait to receive our order due to staff shortages.
M.
Quite pricey but they all are. Relaxed area lovely view of sugarloaf mountain in the distance. food/coffee isn't bad. Lovely shops good variety of gifts and ideas. Decent range of plants. There is also a nice coy carp pond
M. T.
Lovely food ,nice people and a great view. A good use for the old pots . And an idea for Christmas.
G. G.
Beautiful day so took a trip to Raglan Garden centre with my wife. Bought some plants and decided to have a bite to eat. We decided on bangers and mash, nice portion size at a very good price. Highly recommend a visit 👌
P. M.
Great food with superb views. Loved it
G. M.
Love going here. Food is amazing. Tables well spaced and the staff are absolutely amazing. Great views of the sugar loaf on a clear day.
D. B.
It's so good to have this restaurant open again. Covid-19 rules are in place. As always the staff are friendly and efficient. The sausage sandwiches are as good as ever! It's delightful sitting outside - not sure how it works when raining! There's lots of parking and disabled spaces too.
J. L.
Nice place with great views. Food is good with a limited menu. Not everything on the menu was available
D. R.
Doing a fantastic job here even with the current staff shortages.👍 Good selection of specials and as it was a Sunday, these were roast dinners as well as the normal menu. A little wait but no problem for us 😊
A. P.
Lovely restaurant and serves very nice food, coffee and other drinks. The cakes are very nice as well
J.
Lovely restaurant and garden centre, I would rate it 5 stars. the only issue is the lavatory next to the restaurant, the mens toilets were dirty and looked like they had never been cleaned.
M. L.
Food is always good. However service is hit and miss.
Today I queued and because my wife had already occupied a table indoors I was told my order would be taken at my table. There was no numbering system. The queue at the counter continued to be served for outdoors and eventually I had to remind them we were still waiting. Sat at 1.30pm still waiting for our food at 2.25pm
Several other customers were treated in this way.
So in future, I shall insist to give my order at the counter.
The manager has just come to my table. He has apologised explaining that it has been very busy today. That there have been several inexperienced staff on duty. He has just changed the serving process to eliminate the glitches. This should improve things in future.
So I have revised my review to 5 stars.
E.
Busy and food was a little expensive for a cafe but tasty
C. C.
Absolutely gorgeous garden centre with a restaurant in its garden, with in and outside seating options, plenty of cakes to choose from, they also cook fresh food. Definitely a nice place to take family and friends for an afternoon out.
G. J.
Good food but it took along time to come we finished our teas then had to find out if they have forgot about us
T. J.
Very friendly, Covid safe restaurant. Excellent value lunch (delicious jacket potato). Great to unwind after a visit to the garden centre itself, where they currently have a huge range of Xmas decorations, etc. Overall, thoroughly recommend a visit.
J. H.
Excellent, friendly service as always in both restaurant and shop. Only a snack this time but tasty and well presented
H. S.
Generous portion quality ham with mustard in granary bloomer bread (£6.50)with a bit coleslaw, lettuce with a nice dressing and some crunchy crisps. It is christmas time, had to wait about 25mins for a sandwich to reach our table but with it.
C. O.
Freshly cooked off the specials board. 😋
N. J.
Airy restaurant with outdoor seating in a pretty section of a large garden centre. Reasonable prices and attentive staff.
m.
Looks a really nice restaurant, unfortunately they were one chef down and were not doing hot food . I was told they had won awards for the food they do . Had been visiting family and this was my first experience here.
E. A.
Excellent experience. We had a dream tea & it was delicious. The staff are really efficient, helpful & kind. I love love love this cafe. The views from the window are magnificent. An excellent, delightful place to eat. Very uplifting
D. G.
Always worth calling into, called in for a coffee and a cake, my wife Paula is gluten free, plenty of choice, I had a biscof éclair bomb, it was to die for, only down side, we spent £30 in the garden centre, joke, Dave
D. G.
High chairs available and good access for disabled. Order at counter and waitress service to table. Lovely views from all areas.
A. G.
Afternoon tea for two - unbelievable value at £14 for two and included a pot of tea, 3 sandwiches, two scones with butter and pots of jam and nice selection of fancies all laid out on a three tier server - just excellent value and quality was good. Thank you, we will be back for more!
m. r.
Nice friendly staff, really good breakfast and Santa and his elves were fantastic!
C. S.
Very nice clean and pleasant cafe with fantastic views of the Sugar Loaf and surrounding hills. Food was very good. Service was excellent. Set in the garden centre where you could spend time looking around the numerous plants and goods sold there. Well worth a visit.
J. B.
Fabulous food, for price, value, selection and most of all flavour.
i. c.
Had chips and pot of tea OK at £4.10.
Cafe full of oldies as offers free pud and coffee with main course, for over 60's Monday to Thursday.
Clean, efficient place, no real faults
K. ,.
Very busy short staffed and trouble with kitchen equipment but service and food excellent
A. J.
An excellent cafe, great food, good value for money, friendly service, set in Raglan garden centre which is always amazing, worth a visit before Christmas.
S. D.
Still lovely food & great service but the coffee missed the mark, probably because the takeaway cups are a different size to normal & coffee to water ratio not quite right
D. C.
The cafe is open as usual, there is bottles of hand sanitiser for people to put it on your hands, the food is good and they seem to have a few more home made cakes. So when you are at Raglan garden centre go and have a look for yourself's and have a cuppa and a cake.
D. R.
