Reviews of Jeyes of Earls Barton
L. E.
Visited Jeyes today for Afternoon Tea. There were 6 of us in our group and the food supplied was ample for us all, with a good selection of sandwiches, quiche, scones, cakes and sweet treats (we couldn't finish it all and the staff were more than happy to box it up for us to take home). One of our group is Gluten free and the staff had no issues catering to her needs. The tea room was nicely decorated, and very cosy. There is an outside area which looked lovely and will be nice to sit out there in the summer. Service was efficient and we didn't feels rushed even though it was clearly busy. The attached shop is beautiful and well stocked with a variety of produce from local suppliers. Definitely worth a look around.

Lovely friendly cafe. Great service and excellent food.
Georgina (owner) greeted us and give us extra information regarding the history of the establishment.
Added extras were the museums and gift shop which together made an enjoyable lunch catch-up with friends.

Visited there today for the first time. What a fantastic place. A lovely variety of different things there. You have the restaurant there which is perfect for a family snack or afternoon tea. Then you have the shop with a varierlty of books, gifts and puzzles, and then you have a super museum upstairs full of memorabilia from the area I would guess in the 40s/50s and older.
Def worth a visit.

A day out with a friend and our first time in this wonderful shop, cafe and museum. A great selection of unusual gifts and cards, friendly staff, very inviting cafe with varied selection of quality food and drink. I loved my homemade quiche and delicious smoothy. The attached museum was very interesting and rounded off a very enjoyable afternoon. Well worth visiting.

This establishment always comes to mind when it comes to treating a friend to tea and cake and a good catch up . It's has a mixture of vintage and modern features included in the choice of decor adding to it's appeal and table and seating areas spread from the front of the shop / café through to the back which is where I love to go as it's bright, airy and feels more like a tea room than the front part. (There is also an outside area to sit too) I noted cake prices are not displayed on the counters .Cake portions are quite big so I didn't feel that we weren't getting value for money and the customer service was pleasant and accommodating.
For three people wanting a basic treat of a pot of tea and a slice of cake it cost around £20 . In all we enjoyed the time together and did not feel rushed.
Parking space is limited but no problem finding a side street to park up and walk there. Lovely place to have look around too . It has gone through a few refurbishments since we have moved to the area 18 years ago . But all good.

Very frendly staff could not be more helpful to an excellent experience. A good menu and enjoyed the food selected. Also a very interesting museum where I enjoyed looking round the exhibition some of which I can remember from childhood.

Delicious food served in a light and airy setting. It was a great place to celebrate joint birthdays with friends. I am celiac and usually have difficulty finding tasty food. I will be back soon with my huband and my friends want return and bring their families. The staff were helpful and we enjoyed looking round the whole establishment.

As always an amazing experience. Set in the heart of the village, overlooking the square and Saxon era church, the Jeyes family have been providing the local community with services galore for hundreds of years. Today, as always, the service and hospitality were spot on and the 'new moon' cabin is very welcoming. A great selection of snacks, a very well stocked shop with gifts, toys and curiosities and a museum to boot welcome visitors. A must visit for anyone in the village - from bacon sandwichs to birthday cards!
D. A.

Great morning with my family at Jeyes. The coffee and jaffa cake were brilliant and the space for children to play is super. My daughter loved her tea party with Winnie the Pooh and Humpty Dumpty.
A. S.
Great experience food was lovely and the shop is full of curious and unique items and a lot is locally sourced so changes all the time.
K. A.
The cafe is lovely! The staff are friendly and the cakes are generous and so delicious.
There is a pharmacy in the store which is manned by get knowledgeable and helpful staff.
At the back there is a child's play area, which for under 5's could be lovely.
I have yet to visit the museum upstairs but would like to see it.

J. D. B.
A fantastic interesting venue to visit.
A. V.
Visit here is always interesting. The cafe in the conservatory is a very nice place to while away the time or sit for a chat with friends over afternoon tea. They have a very nice selection of cakes and both hot and warm food, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a nice little ice cream parlour. The toy museum has recently been moved downstairs, and upstairs museum now has a focus in one part on local shoemaking history. For anyone with an interest in dolls houses, there is an extensive area upstairs selling every imaginable part for them. Definitely a worthwhile interesting visit
R. L.
Very lovely place. There is also a gift shop and museum on site. You can just have tea and cake or a light lunch. They are happy to improvise for special diets. Such a nice place to meet for lunch.
P. B.
Great food, great service. We didn't book but think on the weekend it would be advisable.
A. H.
Have been shopping at Keyed for many years and love the place, great for gifts, and the Cafe is brilliant. Good selection of children's toys, and a Museum on the top floor, great place to spend a few hours.
E. L.
Great food and good atmosphere. However, access door needs maintenance as visitors were having difficulty shutting and door repeatedly blew open. Sitting at table close to the door was not pleasant.
S. P.
Amazing place and food very quaint lots to see and buy outside of cafe . Cafe itself is beautiful cottage and conservatory feel bright with amazing cooking smells love it
F. M.
What a great eatery, or is it a chemist, ice cream parlor, museum and fancy goods and book shop? This venue has it all, including a high standard 'Apothecary Cafe' with home made local produce. I and my companion, (Miniature Schnauzer) Archie, visit as often as we can.
L. C.
Lovely few hours here with family children loved it food good cheese sandwiches huge and lovely staff
D. B.
I live in Northampton and I recently visited this wonderful little chemist for the very first time a couple of weeks ago. It is so much more than a chemist, it has a wonderful amount of different stock, from stationery to clothing, it really is a joy to look around. Whilst I was there I purchased a beautiful make up bag for myself and a gorgeous Joules scarf for my friends birthday. I even stopped for a light bite and a coffee in the beautiful surroundings of the coffee shop. This chemist is an absolute gem and I will definitely be visiting again and again.
J. A.
Thank you for a wonderful evening very entertaining!
O. K.
Wonderful place for two things I need regularly. The greeting cards are the best selection I know. There's a terrific coffee shop too. And car parking right outside.
On top of that it's a Post Office and a Pharmacy.
D. M.
Lovely atmosphere
D. C. (. C.
Lovely cafe, great choice of savoury food and delicious cakes, definitely worth a visit.
A. P.
Lovely food and lovely shop, but service is so slow, had to entertain a 1 year old for more than 45 minutes waiting for beans on toast, when there were only a couple of other occupied tables.
J. J.
Birthday treat, highly recommended
t. b.
Interesting museum looking at past history of Earl's Barton and the history of jeyes fluid, together with dolls houses with model furniture and fittings for sale. Very popular cafe with friendly staff and good food.
N. S.
Lovely little place hidden in the Northamptonshire countryside. A chemist shop run by the Jeyes family of the Jeyes fluid brand has lots of history and great collections of cameras, royal memorabilia , Kinky Boots show and some old footwear an old pharmacy with the history of Jeyes, and much more including a teddy bear museum and dolls house museum and stockist of dolls house parts. Cards books and other giftwear as well as a lovely coffee shop serving breakfast lunch cakes and afternoon teas and ressonably priced. Museum is free and has a stairlift for the infirm however not really suitable for those that have no mobility as some internal steps on both floors so not really wheelchair accessible although the Jeyes family are more than willing to help where they can to make your experience even more enjoyable!
E. D.
Lovely traditional tea room homemade cakes and quiche..garden room and waitress served .staff are friendly and prompt. You can reserve tables there is a shop attached and a museum .would recommend
H. a. P.
Great tea rooms and small museum with dollshouse and history of Jeyes sections. More interesting than it sounds! Set in pretty village. Well worth a visit if you are In the area.
L. J.
Nice friendly service, food is always prepared to order. Always busy at lunchtime , and coffee is always good . Lovely place to take time out, and always tempting things to look at in the shop and museums upstairs.

The very best fish and chips (with flaked almonds in the batter). And it was so big I had to take half home for later.
K. H.
Very interesting little museum. Nice cafe with plenty of seating in and outside
L. H.
Always excellent food and very friendly staff.
A really great place to eat and explore!
E. J.
Quality food always excellent, everthing looks so nice especially the cakes!! Since the refurb of the whole shop has a lot more room which is good as it can get rather busy. The conservatory is nice and there is even outdoor seating in the pleasant weather. I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. A must for all!!
C. H.
Great place to visit. Interesting mix of items to view in the displays and museum. Nice items on sale. Cafe was excellent and good selection of gluten free options too.
J. W.
Lovely cafe, where you can book in advance. Food is always delicious
J. D.
Lovely place, good choice of food and good quality, also a reasonable price. The museums upstairs are well worth a visit, I will definitely recommend it x
I. A.
Very good cafe with a small museum in lovely village location. Food very good. Execllent service. Museum mostly covers history of the Jeys company and is fascinating. Great for an afternoon out.
M. L.
Although the shop was open at lunchtime the Chemist was closed, check before you travel as the opening times shown are not necessarily those of the dispensery. Nice coffee shop and gift shop.
A. M.
Definitely worth a visit. We stopped for coffee and cake. Very friendly attentive service and good value for money. The Lunch menu together with Afternoon Tea offerings all seem to offer value for money. We also took time to look around the small museum and we're intrigued by the storey of Kinky Boots (the Musical), the footwear for which was produced nearby (at a factory now sadly closed).
We'll be back!
G. H.

M. A.
Always reminds me of a mini department store! A lovely place to stop for a browse and refreshment break especially if you're visiting the area
Y. A.
Was shown this place by a regular customer and was pleasantly surprised. I suffer with anxiety and new places shake me up but I coped quite well here as although, to someone like me, it's quite posh. Working in a café myself with quite a knowledge on coffee and barista skills, I was very happy with the coffee here - both the flavour and presentation. Lovely meringue pie too! The shop and museum come together with this café to create a unique little experience.
R. H.
