We took a friend here for her birthday, decided on Afternoon Tea. For me and one friend it was an effort as we had to a) go upstairs and b) the restroom was up another flight of stairs. So definitely not disabled friendly BUT that is down to it being an old building. There is a little space downstairs or they can do takeaway so don't totally discount here if you're "stair challenged" The staff were lovely, decor interesting and the coffee delicious! I would says it's an average selection and now we've been I would think to ask for any pickle or condiments to be served separate from the sandwiches. I didn't order so I don't know if other breads are an option, been a while since I've had white bread but then sometimes egg mayo tastes so much nicer in white bread! 😁 The cakes were very nice and, I believe, made on the premises. Not sure where they sourced their strawberries but they were divine! Definitely worth a visit and don't be afraid to ask the questions when booking.

Probably the best hot chocolate so far i had in Norwich. Really popular place and small, so if you bring a group of 5 people will be hard to find sits to everyone. (I believe there's only one table for 5/6 people. But worth going!

It was Samual Johnson who said that "A man who is tired of London is tired of life". Well, someone who is tired of St Gregorys Alley, is tired of Norwich. For this alley is the funnel through which trundles much of the population of the city: The young and the trendy, along with the homeless, the garrulous, the elderly and the gracious. At the point where the alley opens up into a happy little handkerchief of democratic green, is "Alchemista Coffee Potions". Unfortunately, however good their coffee is, it is not magic. If it was, then perhaps the staff might be more inclined to smile and show some charm and engagement. The name itself, conjours up the world of Harry Potter; however the conjouring is not very effective. Instead of entering a tuck shop in Hogwarts, you are transported instead to the anteroom of a torture chamber in Berlin. The coffee is consistently good, though expensive, the pateries, like the staff and the decor, are poor, and look like they have been slapped about too much for their own good. 4 Stars 🌟

I’ve been thinking about the Black Toade I had here. It was so delicious like a dessert I couldn’t believe it. I would love to return one day. The menu is so fun and interesting and it’s in such a lovely spot. Wonderful coffee beans on sale too.

If you like sitting, quivering in sweaty brain melt, then why not grab a cup of coffee flavoured caffeine and bounce off the walls like a malfunctioning android. I have only just recovered from a latte experience where wholesome, soulful live music opposite, juxtaposed my shredded shaking Stevens weave of caffeinated despair. I could handle only two songs, one about Bees and one about something else lovely before my messed up legs unfolded to lead me on to more frustratingly empty experiences, because I require more than just this. Tiny nook in the ancient Norwich streets with a distinct steampunk vibe. Gorgeous coffee (and coffee cocktails) but definitely suggest trying one of their toasted sandwiches too!

The cutest little cafe with amazing soy milk lattes. It was exactly what i wanted and the cups are really pretty with the logo on them. It has a second floor so i went and sat up there - very friendly staff and a very beautiful bathroom (the prettiest toilet ive ever seen) and just a great place. Quirky decor which was fantastic. I would definitely go again and recommend it.

Love this coffee shop, great location down by the birdcage and Grosvenor's fish bar! Customer service is always friendly, tables clean and wiped down with disinfectant especially because of covid! We had a mocha and a specialist coffee as seen in the photos! Crazy good coffee, mocha had the balance of coffee bitterness and chocolate sweetness!

Had afternoon tea here with my partner. The food was great, the drinks were lush and the staff were very friendly, efficient and accomodating. The afternoon tea was of a high standard and very filling, with a good variety of sandwiches and cakes. I didn't manage to finish all of mine, but they offer boxes so that you can take any leftovers home with you. I look forward to coming here again.

Brilliant friendly staff, great coffee, lovely location. If you're looking for a sandwich in Norwich this is the place to be, too! I had a brie, ham and pickle (or something) and my partner had a New York style pastrami pickle cheddar mustard thing, both of which were ludicrously tasty and generously packed with meat and cheese. Fantastic!

One of the coolest coffee shops I've EVER been to! The coffee was delicious and came in the cutest little skull glasses with whipped cream on top. Every detail in the place was well though out and the level of care they put into everything really shows. The staff were very kind and let me film in there as well. The coffee was good but the cups a bit small compared to others in the area. A varied selection of sweet and savoury snacks were available. There is also a small outside seating area.

I was really excited to discover Alchemista a few months ago. The coffee is great but more importantly for me is the ambience of the place. The staff are really friendly, the interior design is excellent and I love the music. I also love the fact that it is so clean, I know that sounds like a wired comment to make but I am fed up of going to coffee shops where the tables and toilets are so dirty you feel like you need to sanitize when you leave! I am happy to report that at Alchemista it has a really great feel and is very clean with delicious coffee, what more could you ask for.

I was introduced to Alchemista by a friend and found the best coffee in Norwich being served here. Sandwiches and cakes are excellent and the service equally so. Alchemista is situated on The Lanes of Norwich and may very well take you on to somewhere else in the city you weren't expecting to go.

My go-to coffee shop with lots of choice, lovely friendly and generous staff, plenty of seating without being crowded. I'd call it a hidden gem but Alchemista is pretty popular with regulars! I love their coffee and any cakes they serve. Very steampunk asthetic and awesome skull shaped glasses if you order a special drink.
