Reviews of The Merchant's House

On a hot day in the city shopping, what better way to relax than an iced latte in a period courtyard? Thats exactly what we did! The Merchants House has character, style and great coffee, the courtyard is a hidden gem just waiting to be enjoyed.

First time in here for 10 years, lovely calm atmosphere. Staff were very cheerful and helpful and interacted happily with my toddler. Tea, orange and flapjack were £5.20. Not expensive. Outdoor seating available but it was raining.

Absolutely lovely coffee bar with outdoor courtyard. The coffee is 10/10 and always a great selection and variety of cakes everyday.
Would highly recommend

Great for the the daytime or the evening. Plenty to choose from and wonderful historic courtyard. Well chosen options on tap for alcoholic drinks, and a solid cafe options with teas, coffee and cake in the day. Pleasure to see this building still with lots of life in it!

Nice local coffee house / hipster bar that hosts many interesting evenings, such as live acoustic music every Sunday and various foreign-language groups. Also joined next door to a splendid art gallery.
For me anyway, it's a home away from home.

Absolutely love this place. Great place for a bite to eat, catch up with a friend or just to grab a refreshing cold beer on a warm summers day. Plenty of seating inside and the cutest courtyard (which feels like a bit of a secret) and really friendly accomodating staff mean that I wouldn't hesitate to come back time after time. (Yes, I now have Cyndi Lauper in my head too) I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

What a gem of a find!
Great quiet spot with a lovely ambience for a cheeky drink and light bite (toastie!) Rate the choice of craft ales to choose from and impressed with the iced chai latte!
But the real stand-out for us, was the cute little courtyard seating area outside - perfect spot for my wife and I to take a couple of hours to rest and read a little! Highly recommend this place!!!

Best Coffee shop in the city. We have travelled far and wide across this fine city in search of a coffee shop we could call home. We were spoiled for choice but Merchants House wins out every time.
Staff are charming.
Decor and vibe is immaculate.
Coffee is great - cannot recommend their dirty chai nearly enough!
Food is great.
We must come here once a week and look forwards to it.

Quirky coffee and beer place. Great atmosphere whether it's during the day or evening. Interesting beers and cider. There's music on Sunday's. A must visit for some quality chill time in Norwich

This little place got me through my exam season. Cheap tasty coffee with student discounts. Gigs on Sunday nights. Language learners meet-ups throughout the week. Hands down my favourite place in Norwich
