Several people have recommended Effy worth a visit. A couple of days ago I paid a visit, my first visit. My first impression stuffy, as can be seen from the steamed up windows. They need better ventilation, especially during coronavirus pandemic. Awful lighting, a dull pink glow, which makes feel as though eyes are not functioning correctly. Coffee on sale on the shelves Manhattan, a roastery in Rotterdam. Though not what I was served. Difficult to read what was written on the bags due to poor lighting. Also on the shelves limited selection of coffee paraphernalia. A few cakes on display. Whether food served or not, I do not know and did not ask. I ordered a cappuccino. Bailies, a roastery in Ireland that I was familiar with. Short lived Flat Whites served Bailies as a guest coffee. The only coffee shop I have seen an Origami in use other than in Athens, though not on sale. Using Kalita wave filter papers. Knowledgeable and helpful barista. Too busy to try, I left a few coffee beans of the coffee I had with me. On leaving a couple of people outside undecided. I advised worth a visit, excellent coffee. We now have four excellent coffee shops in Nottingham - Effy - The Specialty Coffee Shop - Kigali - Cartwheel Coffee All within a few minutes walk of each other, a few minutes walk from Nottingham Station. From Kigali worth a detour to Sneinton Market to Luisa’s bean-to-bar craft chocolate and Neon Raptor craft beer brewery. Kigali is located in Hockley, many interesting indie businesses. If looking to eat try Paste (Thai restaurant) or Ugly Bread Bakery.

The turmeric latte with oat milk is just delicious 😋 warm, comforting just love it ! I don t really like how they keep and show their food option. Not very hygienic I believe. Small seating options

Loved the place and the coffee. The coffee was very earthy and concentrated. They have really nice baked desserts all fresh and cute. The décor is amazing and so cute. It’s so lovely, cosy and quiet.

Best coffee in Nottingham in my opinion. Passion of the super friendly staff shines through and frequent rotation of high quality speciality coffee. Plenty for non-coffee drinkers here too - all made with love and attention to detail. Small vegan friendly menu - so delicious it will satisfy meat eaters no problem. Nice chilled atmosphere and very very welcoming. This place keeps me coming back. Thanks Effy!

Such an instagrammable place (don't let steamy windows trick you)! Definitely one of the best coffee places in Nottingham, staff is always friendly and care about coffee- their tips are always useful and recommendations been on point every time! Another bonus point is for their food and dessert menu, vegan peanut butter & jam slice is so heavenly delicious, would be nice to see more vegan options as they know what they are doing :) Would 100% recommend to anyone who cares about the coffee. Well done "Effy", keep it up!!:)

If you like your coffee shops, then Effy is a must-visit! The knowledgeable staff have a real love for their craft - apparent in their delicious range of specialist coffees from across the globe. Team this with great, friendly service, yummy bakes and delicious vegan and vegetarian food (try the Vegan Reuben for a real taste experience!). It's such a memorable place to chill out. A young, vibrant, independent speciality coffee shop. Smashing!

The servers are really nice, but I find the coffee to be hit or miss depending on who makes it. A few days in a row I’m served by the same guy and it’s great, then suddenly it’s another server and the same coffee order suddenly tastes very different (even if it’s same beans.) also very limited vegan options. Cute cafe, places to sit but beware of laptop ban on weekends before you plan a study visit there

Honestly the nicest hot chocolate I've ever had. Such a gorgeous coffee shop, with lovely staff. They're always happy to chat to you and serve your drinks with a smile! Brilliant with covid restrictions, they've put a little table by the front door to keep a safe distance whilst they serve you. Cannot wait until I can have a drink inside.

Effy almost instantly became my new favourite spot for coffee in Nottingham. Mitch and Ellen show genuine enthusiasm in every aspect of running the shop. Always willing to give advice or opinions about menu items (which I would reccommend listening to). I would particularly reccommend trying any seasonal drinks when they are availible, as these are true labours of love which the owners spend countless hours thoughtfully refining and hand preparing.

This is a newly opened (just over a week) coffee shop in Nottingham city centre. It's a smallish cafe that has a light pink on the walls that gives it a much nicer feel than the darker schemes some of the chain coffee shops have. You'll find the range of coffees you'd expect from any decent coffee shop and a selection of cakes. While it was empty when I arrived for a coffee just after 1pm on a weekday, chatting with co-owner Matt I learned that they do get busy mornings and evenings as people from the local flats leave or return home. On this occasion I'd popped in for a flat white, and, while I'm not connoisseur enough to say how it compares to other independents, I can say I'll definitely be stopping here for coffee again.
