Once upon a time Outpost Coffee, then changed hands, now Kigali.
I thought, oh no, Nottingham has lost an excellent coffee shop.
I am pleased to have been proven wrong.
Kigali has gone from strength to strength and taken what was Outpost Coffee to another level.
Excellent baristas, time permitting, only too happy to share their passion for coffee. Discerning clintelle who appreciate good coffee.
The coffee Outpost Coffee plus guest coffee from some of the best roasteries.
Excellent cakes.
Magazines to browse. On sale Standart. With the sad loss of Ideas on Paper (closed a few days before Christmas) Kigali only location in Nottingham where Standart on sale.
Beautiful ceramics on sale, including the cups used to serve coffee.
A limited range of coffee paraphernalia on sale.
And of course coffee beans on sale.

The BEST coffee we have ever had. Hands down. Lovely vibe, great baristas, 100% making this our regular coffee shop. Thank you Kigali!

The nicest barista served us, who was knowledgeable about the coffees. I had the Honduran coffee, which was like no other coffee I'd tasted before. Plus the salted caramel brownie was to die for. Highly recommend.

Had a really nice chat with the barista working there who was friendly and welcoming. Great locally roasted speciality coffee - I had a batch brew and partner an oat flattie. Almond croissants were very tasty too!

Delicious coffee and a great range of vegan friendly cakes. The staff are really lovely and always welcoming. I always enjoy a chat with the staff on shift. The shop is also very stylish and a pleasure on the eye if you want to sit in, and over the warmer months they have a lovely little outdoor seating area which is the perfect place to enjoy the atmosphere of hockley. This has to be my favourite coffee shop in Nottingham.

Lovely barista made me a lovely coffee and the shop is stocked full of quality coffee supplies!

Small is beautiful! Exceptionally tasty, locally roasted beans, artfully crafted into a lovely cups of coffee. Throw in the best pastries and cakes in the East Midlands from Tough Mary’s Bakehouse and you have an unbeatable combination. Knowledgeable and friendly staff too.

Knew I was onto a winner when I (tiredly) asked for a double shot having been so bitterly traumatized by what passes for coffee in most UK shops and the lovely server told me 'all our drinks are double shots'.
If you are a homesick kiwi seeking good coffee go here :)

Rebranded Outpost shop still serving amazing coffee that varies from week to week. Staff/management friendly. Covid measures set up well to allow distance on ordering. Seats available outside only at time of visit. Not disappointed. Also asked for a special pattern on the coffee, didn't quite come off but taste was spot on.

Cosy and friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. The coffee is delicious, I got a flat white of their house blend and I am very pleased with it. The place is anything you would expect form a top speciality coffee house. It can appear a bit crowded at times but there's definitely a good reason for that - great coffee! I would visit again.

Friendly atmosphere, great coffee and happy to talk about the coffee in detail or any old nonsense too.
I have no idea why you would go to the high street shops when for the same cash you get custom made coffee to how you like it. However you don't get that hipster snootism you expect from a specialist coffee shop; just three genuinely nice members of staff that treat you with respect.

Can’t rate this place highly enough. I’m not a coffee drinker (boo hiss) but popped in for a flat white and was impressed with the basic blend I was given (treacle with a bit of smoke) not to mention the array of baked loveliness on display. Is it normal to get heart palpitations when being told the goods on offer? Plumped for a folded origami-like pastry number with jam and almond flakes. Sublime. Shame I live so far away or I’d be there everyday. Lovely person behind the till as well. Friendly and helpful.

The coffee is great , the beans especially are unique. Staff is friendly as well. I like the coffees presentation.

The staff are lovely. Wonderful environment with some of the best coffee in Notts 😏🤤💕☕💦

Small little shop on a side street. Very cozy inside. I ordered a cold brew coffee with milk and Tiffin Oreo dessert. It was delicious and quick service. Ladies were super friendly!

I'm a regular here because the staff are lovely, laid-back & knowledgable and the coffee is hands down the best in Nottingham. Because it's a small & intimate little coffee shop, you get a much more personal experience. You can see the guys making your drink and they will happily talk to you about it. The quality of their coffee is very high, for example, they don't use Robusta (cheaper varieties of coffee) at all, and everything is single origin.
I have recently been doing Veganuary & Outpost have been fuelling me with oat milk flat whites (this costs £3, an extra 40pence because it's a higher cost for the business to buy it. 200 degrees also charge 40p extra for non-dairy, a soy latte is £3.20). Personally, I like the oat milk because it makes a nice velvety texture and it's the closest to a dairy flat white that I've had, with less of an after taste. It's also better for the environment. Plus, after speaking with Greg I found out that they also source their cows milk from a Derbyshire farmer to ensure high quality & standards :)

I love this cafe! Although is really small, the coffee is amazing and the guys are really nice. They also have very good desserts and music! They have some tables outside for the sunny days :)
F. R. G.
Never tried coffee before and was excellent and the people are also very friendly

Lots of vegan bakery options too...

Been in this place two days in a row while visiting Nottingham. The place has great coffee and the guys serving it love to tell you all about it - where it comes from, roasting time, taste etc etc
A. R.
Top coffee nice guy even brought my coffee outside for me no mask 😉😷
P. J.
One of the best coffee shops in Nottingham. Good range of drinks expertly crafted by friendly and knowledgeable staff.
If you can get a table it's nice to sit in - but it's very small. This place is less about the cafe experience and more about delivering amazing coffee. And the coffee is always amazing.
C. F.
Arguably the best coffee in Nottingham. Roasted in Nottingham and made by friendly and welcoming coffee aficionados. The fresh selection of pastries and cakes from Tough Mary's (Derby Road, well worth a visit too!) they get in each day means you can also get arguably the best cake to go with that coffee.
You can buy their great selection of fresh roast bean or ground coffee to make at home, which they even have a subscription service for now. Cafe is tiny, but very chilled.
H. A.
the best cortado coffee in Nottingham

Fantastic coffee, artful preparation and presentation, lovely, warm staff and atmosphere. Was in Nottingham for just 3 days and came here 4 times, if that’s any indicator. They also have great local pastries, sandwiches, sweets, and gluten-free and vegan options.
C. M.
Coffee good. Bought for me with kindness as they only take cards. Use antiseptic gel if you're worried about covid. Cash is legal tender!!!!
V. H.
Enjoyed one of the best lattes I have tasted this morning in their recently opened coffee shop close to the market Square. Creamy and smooth with great flavour. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely return soon.
A. W.
Coffee craft / expertise without hipster pretentiousness.
Best stop-off in Notts for high quality, artisanal coffee, with down-to-earth locals.
K. S.
Outpost is my without doubt my favourite coffee shop in Nottingham – they're a great bunch, friendly and knowledgeable. Constantly collaborating with designers, artists and other business too – as evidenced by their window mural and wall art inside. I go in if I want a flat white, but we also have their home boxes of coffee beans for in the studio👌

Some amazing coffee from these guys so it's exciting to see them in Nottingham. Met them in the summer at one of the Nottingham markets where they had some great drip filter coffees. Had some really interesting beans and seemed genuinely interested in what they do.
K. R.
Apart from being really knowledgable about coffee, all the people involved in Outpost are genuinely kind people. This shines through in the product and services they deliver. Amazing coffee and great customer service. <3

I travel a fair amount, and this is still one of my favorite places to have a coffee (for flavour of bean and quality), however it is very small and I often can't find a seat.
