Reviews of Opera Cafe
D. V.
Lovely cafe with so many incredible lunch/breakfast items!! They can warm their lovely special sandwiches and the deserts are exquisite as well! The atmosphere is lovely and the lovely big windows brings a lot of light inside. There are a lot of coffee choices as well and would love to see some descriptions on each deserts so we can search their history and influence of the dish more :) Having some student discounts or point card system could be lovely as well! Would be back :)!

Loved the place, food and ambiance. The red lentil bean soup, that was vegan 🌱 came out really interesting taste wise. The avocado 🥑 toast was also brilliant, very unique subtle flavour. I had 2 cups of Karak Chai that was refreshing too. Baklava wasn’t too good, it was bit hard so didn’t enjoy that much.
A must visit cafe in Oxford. I came here following the Google reviews and I am sure my review will help many others to discover this wonderful cafe in Oxford. Loved it.

Roast chicken wrap and ice latte for lunch! The garden seats are wonderful in spring days. There is good food (really crispy wrap and tasty chicken!), good music, and good coffee with mouthwatering selections of sweet pastries. Will visit again!

Love this little cafe on Walton street. The wraps are very good and filling, and the coffee is strong. There's place to sit and work, and the music is amazing. What more can one want!

Visited with a friend for breakfast on the 14th of June. Really lovely looking place - decor inside is fresh and inviting with delicious looking cakes, treats and wraps in the window. We chose to sit out on the front as it was a particularly warm and sunny morning. We ordered our drinks and food easily with the friendly lady at the till. I will be honest and say there was an issue - we waited for quite a while for our drinks and it became apparent that perhaps we had been forgotten about when a person who had ordered after us had received their food before we had our drinks. Now, I'm not bringing this up as a negative, but rather to highlight how this was dealt with. We didn't mention to anybody that we were still waiting for drinks, but it was clear it had been noticed by the baristas. Anyway, not long later our drinks were brought out with many apologies before we were informed (by perhaps the manager, though I'm not certain) that there was some error and our order was momentarily lost and we were reassured our food was coming as quickly as possible. We weren't in a rush, so it really didn't matter to us and it was a genuine mistake - we're all human and it happens! We were offered free cakes/treats as an apology, though neither of us are hugely sweet toothed so we politely declined. Our breakfasts arrived shortly after and were beautifully presented and delicious.
Sometimes it just really doesn't matter if something goes wrong, just that it's handled well (on both sides).
Thank you!
M. T.
Great place for a quick bite to eat. I would highly recommend the wraps, as the bread has a wonderful texture, and the filling is very flavourful.
S. B.
Great coffee shop with plenty more seating than you'd think. The wraps are amazing!
S. R.
Omg the pistachio cannolis are amazing. Also their wraps toasted, I always go for the spicy chicken wrap.
R. M.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Oxford. The coffee is exquisite and the homemade pastries never disappoint. The staff team is so friendly and they willingly offer a student discount if you show your Bod card.
N.
The chocolate cake was really good. Otherwise was the egg benidict not runny like you would expect and the hollandaise was a bit to salty. Overall good restaurant.
A. B.
Lovely cafe with excellent fresh food. We stopped for lunch and had two of the pastry wraps.
C.
Was a lovely place for Saturday brunch - very friendly staff, delicious food and amazing latte! Would definitely recommend :)
K. P. S.
Cute coffee shop. Grabbed a toastie and a coffee. Both were excellent. My wife got a cinnamon bun which was also nice.

Visited here on Sunday for lunch and was recommended by my best friend.
I would definitely go here again when visiting Oxford!
Friendly staff and great service.
Also the food was delicious 😋
Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options too!
M. A.
Absolutely recommended!!
I tried the kunafa and it was delicious , tasty and absolutely just by looking at it mouthwatering. Thank you for your amazing customer service!! And I can’t thank them enough for tolerating with me. It’s been a pleasure and I’ll definitely come again whenever I’m around and try more bits 👍🏽

We had the spicy Moroccan wrap and the avocado toast with poached eggs, and both were great. The London Fog and mocha were also very good.

There are lots of cafes on the high street, Oxford, regardless of chain stores or independent ones. However, this time I discovered a hidden gem, which is 10-mins walk from the bustling city centre, but with a classy name and colourful decor. Moreover, it is based on the style of Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine.

Amazing cafe with professional and friendly service. It can look small but there is plenty of seating outside and inside. Moderate prices and delicious food makes it a fantastic place. It is also located in some distance from the most of the landmarks, so it is not getting rowdy and loud. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy their time with fantastic food and coffee.
N. B.
Cozy cafe with great vibes from customers and staff. Delicious food and the London Fog tea is worth trying especially when served with almond milk 👌
P. I. S. M.
This a nice and relaxed small coffee shop in Oxford. They also offer soups, wraps and bread. The quality of what I got was good though not surprising (chicken wrap & coffee). Service is friendly and do not put too much pressure on time, so it is an ideal place to read after other cafes close.
L. S.
Amazing food and coffee! The staff are so so kind, friendly and accomodating. Adil helped us so much to ensure we had the best Sunday experience<3 <3 <3 Defo recommend!
M. E.
Decent Café in jericho area, they serve middle Eastern pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Coffee is good, service is friendly and brisk. There is a covered garden /courtyard area that is bright. There's additional seating downstairs, and a small decking area immediately in front of the cafe. I ordered a delicious filo pastry cake that was soaked in honey and almonds, the kids really liked this. Recommended.
I. B.
Good food and service, nice atmosphere. Would come back but maybe not for an eggs royale (bene)
Poached eggs not very runny, and hollandaise wasn't to my personal taste
m. g.
had a delicious hot cocoa and almond tart and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere to do some work. there's plenty of seating, downstairs as well.
the staff were also very friendly - they let me know that there's a 10% discount for students!
R. O.
Really cute café with a great drinks selection. Student discount too and free wi-fi!
G. C.
Excellent cafe with tasty food and decent pricing. This place is really nice. Would recommend 10/10.
s. w.
The best cardamom buns I have ever tasted. The cardomom was such a full on flavour, against the sweetness it reminded me of drinking chai in India! Amazing!
Really busy so there was a slight delay/issue with the arrival of our coffees, but the staff were great and rectified/addressed as soon as made aware.
Shall definitely return to try more of the delicious looking delights!
T. R.
Superb Brunch of wraps and Shakshuka followed by a Cinnamon bun. Great little Jericho cafe
T. B.
Not your ordinary cafe that's for sure. Lots of tasty little cakes and pastries. The spicy chicken wrap is phenomenal - the chicken is really well flavoured but it's the savoury pancake-bread that makes the wrap especially tasty. Really happy and polite staff. Oh yeah, the coffee is pretty good too!
N. G.
I absolutely love this place. The food is amazing as is the coffee and the atmosphere is great. The staff is super friendly and always smiling.
M. D.
We ate in the garden room at the back. Tasty food + attentive service and they have made the room as green and light and peaceful as possible.
A. W.
Very impressed with this cafe. Will be recommending it every chance I get
S. K.
Really cute, good vegan options.
Vibrant and bigger than it looks from the outside
S. U.
I love the wide selection on desserts and food on this place! The Nutella got chocolate is a must try! Friendly staff, pretty good location and nice deco!
A. B.
Inexpensive, friendly and quite busy little café. I just dropped in for a quick bit on a Saturday morning.
O. R.
Nice independent cafe.. we tried the walnut and coffee cake with poppy seeds which I highly recommend!
S. B.
The coffee is delicious! I can say the best cappuccino I've had maybe ever? I didn't have a chance to try the food, but it looks amazing and it made me regret having eaten before coming in.
G. F.
I received outstanding customer service here today! Wonderful staff who helped me in and out with my pram, rearranged the seating so we could sit in the sun and served up the most delicious macchiato & toastie. Little did they know I'd had a rough morning and them going the extra mile was really appreciated. Thank you Team Opera!
A. B.
Very nice hot chocolate. A little on the sweeter side, but not sickly sweet. Good balance
E. H.
Absolutely wonderful food, simple but not simplistic and expertly made with just enough of a twist in cuisine to add a little interest without overwhelming the original dish. Anything with eggs is a must, as well as the fresh-squeezed juice. They are also well prepared for current health circumstances and one can eat there in total confidence. A definite must for locals and tourists alike!
S. N.
Love this place. I've been there a handful of times, both to work and to eat. It's a pleasant place for both. The last time, the wife and I shared beans on toast and a wrap with soup. They forgot to bring out the soup for a little while, and for that insignificant "shortcoming", they have us some pastry for dessert. Love that there's a comfortable place with Moroccan flavours conveniently located in Oxford, and amazing service!
S. E.
I visited Opera last year and I still think about it from time to time. I had their coffee every day for six weeks. Their staff is the most welcoming and warm staff I have ever met which made me want to keep going back (hi Kelly!). The menu is great and affordable, and the seating options are many. It's one of my favorite spots in oxford and I highly recommend (and miss) it.
w.
Pistachio cannoli and the chicken Paratha was excellent. The Indian guy (didn’t catch his name but he spoke to my wife in Punjabi) was also very helpful. Will be back
C. B.
One of the most uninformative cafe websites i have come accross - all distracting waffle and minimal menu! When clicking on full menu, it take you to a delivery service!?!?
S. B.
Fantastic little coffee and snacks shop. I loved the caramel brownie.
J. M.
Delicious Moroccan style wraps and fillings. Beautiful venue, centrally located and friendly staff. All in all a great experience.
D. W.
Lovely cafe on the side of Walton street. Staff were very friendly and helpful, vibe was cosy coffee was nice and cakes were delicious. However, we heard the manager shouting at a colleague whilst in the loos, saying that they would be fired if they didn’t “get their act together”. This kind of conflict is very off putting and not somewhere where we would like to endorse this kind of management, therefore however nice the cafe was we will most likely not be returning based on the management, a pity really.
A. P.
Love Opera in Oxford! Beautiful location with 3 hrs (£4.30) parking right outside on the road OR very close access from Ox main train station. The food is delicious, the coffee is great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the cafe deco is beautiful. Definitely one of a kind in central Oxford, independently owned and managed, I wholeheartedly recommend!!!
A. W.
The nicest cuppacino I've had at a café!
M. A.
Lovely little cafe in Jericho, specialising in Mediterranean/Middle Eastern dishes. My favourite for cakes, but the soup, wraps and the coffee are all equally good. The staff are also super friendly, which is often the basis of a successful cafe.
M. G.
I tried the spicy chicken Moroccan wrap which was nice and big but also greasy. I also had a cappuccino which was not very nice , a bit bitter and over roasted probably. The service was slow during lunch and it was freezing cold inside. They leave both the front and back door that leads to the yard open. They need to sort it out and make this place comfortably warm for people to sit and enjoy coffees and bites.
M. K.
Wonderful place for food, coffee and work. Stable internet connection and a quiet downstairs, even good for business calls ^_^ The food is fresh and delicious. Good selection of teas and the staff is super friendly, the type of people you genuinely want to be friends with. One of my favourite places in Oxford.
H. S.
One of my favourites in Oxford - I'm in here for a coffee or lunch a few times a week. The food is excellent, all Middle Eastern with plenty of fresh flavour (harissa chicken wrap is particularly good), and the baristas are all so friendly. Can get busy at lunch time but it's definitely worth the wait.
C.
Currently my favourite cafe in Oxofrd! They have a great lunch deal that includes a bowl of soup and a wrap (chicken and vegetarian options available) for £6.95. I would highly recommend the lentil soup! It's extraordinary! Wish the place itself was slightly bigger !
M. L.
The best vegan carrot cake in oxford
D. W.
Popped in here for tea and cake. Noticed the good selection of healthy food for lunch. Will return .
L. G.
Wonderful cafe with extremely friendly staff, very instagrammable interior and delicious and very reasonably priced food! My personal favourite is the Harira soup which is insanely good and the soup and wrap deal which are very very good value for money! I tend to take friends here when they come visit and none of them have been disappointed so far.
i. z.
Amazing local café with outstanding staff, ambiance and food!
I highly recommend the chicken wrap (the spicy ones are to die for!), and the Coconut Matcha Latte!
Thank you for bringing awesomeness in Jericho !!!
L. C.
Nice cafe with the best chai tea (order the masala chai). The inside is cozy, and there is nice seating downstairs for studying. Also a few outdoor seats which are nice in the summer. Staff is very kind. Only thing is that I wish it was cleaned more often throughout the day as the wraps they serve can get quite messy.
M. B.
Opera cafe is amazing! Always good vibes, great music and delicious food!
A. L.
The spicy harissa chicken wrap is the best wrap I've had in Oxford, probably anywhere for that matter. Coffee is very reasonably priced, and the quality is superb. Much better than the brown-ish liquid some nearby cafes serve, and charge more for.
Baklava is delicious and sticky!
It's always supprisingly quiet for such a good cafe. Friendly and efficient service.
E. S.
Nice coffee shop in Jericho! They have excellent pastries (better thais Gail's) and the service is reallyI friendly. The hot chocolate is not my favorite, but the coffee is reasonable. The place is nice decorated.
A. H.
I visited here first thing on a Sunday morning, was greeted with a friendly member of staff. They had high chairs available for my toddler.
The food was very nice, so was the coffee and hot chocolate, a bit on the pricey side though. However, I would come back if I am in Oxford again.
D. W.
Great coffee, freshly squeezed juice. Breakfast was delicious and the staff are friendly. Fantastic place for breakfast, laced with the magnificent smell of the warm, aromatic spices of lunch being prepared.
J. G.
Popped in today with our 3 children, as we were strolling round Jericho. Oh my goodness. What a treasure! Lovely place, lovely food, lovely staff. We’ll definitely be coming back!!!
M. D.
Lovely food, very kind staff and cute ambience. Unfortunately I find the music quite annoying: usually piano covers of pop songs from 5-10 years ago, often a bit too loud.
N. 1.
Lovely staff, massive menu, very quirky layout and the coffee is in the the top 3 for me
L. S. M.
Great alternative breakfast stop. It's got a real Mediterranean flavour which marks it out from the competition. Try the shakshuka - comes with three whole eggs and toast for a great price. They also have the biggest choice of iced drinks I've ever seen - if you can have it hot, you can also have it iced, which is great in summer!
A. C.
Visited an Oxford department twice and tried coffe in about 20 different places - and no place beats the coffee at Opera cafe'! They use a blend of PROPERLY dark roasted coffee (that is, the OPPOSITE of starbucks dark roast) that I find masterfully balanced.
Ambiance is really quiet, and staff is friendly enough that I got to know them on both of my visits. Highly recommended!
R. T.
Yummy snacks and bites for takeaway - their rolls are really good. Also a lovely place to sit and work (in the seating area in the back). Friendly service.
O. Z.
Friendly staff, good vegeterian food, good prices
A. K.
Fantastic wraps and good coffee. The café looks quite small but they also have seating downstairs. Service was really quick and polite. Will be back for sure!
S. R.
Great mix of wraps and flavours. Totally recommend the Moroccan crepe they serve or the tea. Lovely terrace backdoor during spring and summer
L. H.
Best Americano I’ve ever had. Try the chocolate caramel brownie with a café Americano. You won’t be disappointed. This was our favorite place to have coffee and watch the passersby outside during our holiday in Oxford.
A. S.
Spacious café, lovely semolina cake and a great vegan cake too -& should be offering a great breakfast menu soon!
Also the veggie lunch options looked delicious
P.
Cute café for a cup of cappuccino or flatwhite really well made and interesting, delicious cakes.
B. O.
The wraps (Roast veg, Harissa Chicken) are superb. Excellent coffee, delicious baklava and a prime location on Walton Street.
Absolutely recommended for a fantastic lunch.
A. B.
Friendly place and the food was ok, prices about normal for a city centre cafe. Would have been 4 stars, but on the day, the place was full of wasps, crawling over the food. No one seemed overly concerned about it, which i thought was a bit odd tbh.
W. K.
Opera is an outstanding little coffee shop serving a host of middle eastern light meals and cakes. It's also nicely situated – just outside the main tourist areas in Oxford.
Z. P.
Very hospitable staff and tasty food. The decor is surprisingly homely for such a grand looking front. Easy to enjoy a relaxed coffee and a spot of food.
C. R.
Best meal deal in oxford. The staff are awsome and the food delicious.
S. N.
Really good food (although not the largest selection) and nice staff. A good place to have a solo meal or with a friend. Not huge, so big groups may be tough to accommodate.
T. P.
I went in for lunch. Lots of good flavours and spices in the food. The coffee is good. The staff are friendly. There is more seating in a courtyard at the back. There are steps to get in the front door.
M. G. F.
Very busy cafe offering a good selection of snacks. Seating is arranged on several levels.
M. F. R.
Excellent food, on a cold night the soup was just what I needed, the wrap provided some additional fuel, delicious tea to quench some thirst, and a wonderful bonus of a choco-peanut-butter pie!
A. M. J.
The food is creative and delicious. Not cheap for a café, but so good that you won't mind too much. The coffee was excellent too.
R. E.
Great food, best coffee in Oxford, great music and atmosphere. The staff are also incredibly friendly. My favourite café in Oxford.

Adorable place just nearby Oxford city centre. Well, even water taste better than anywhere else. Consider Opera Cafe as place "must visit" in Oxford.

Excellent aubergine salad!

Seems like a nice place, but don't go for the coffee necessarily. It tasted burned. I haven't tried the food yet

(Translated) Moroccan enough in the city of Oxford..the coffee is small but tidy and beautiful and eating if there is an Arab hand will be sure delicious ... I tried the eggs with avocado and shishokah and it was delicious but the bread unfortunately dry more ... the cappuccino is controlled ... they have many varieties and their shapes are very attractive and Arabic sweets And in Western ... the store has a request and a lot of favors to buy ... its prices are expensive compared to the rest of the cafes.
